Quasi-harmonic spectra from branched Hamiltonians

We revisit the canonical quantization to assess the spectrum of the modified Emden equation $\ddot{x} + kx\dot{x} + ω^2 x + \frac{k^2}{9}x^3 = 0$, which is an isochronous case of the Liénard-Kukles equation. While its classical isochronicity and canonical quantization, leading to polynomial solutions with an exactly-equispaced spectrum have been discussed earlier, including in the recent paper [Int. J. Theor. Phys. 64, 212 (2025)], the present study focuses on the quantization of its branched Hamiltonians. For small $k$, we show numerically that the resulting energy spectrum is no longer perfectly harmonic but only approximately equispaced, exhibiting quasi-harmonic behavior characterized by deviations from uniform spacing. Our numerical results are precisely validated by analytical calculations based on perturbation theory.

Non-holonomic and Quasi-integrable deformations of the AB Equations

For the first time, both non-holonomic and quasi-integrable deformations are obtained for the AB system of coupled equations. The AB system models geophysical and atmospheric fluid motion along with ultra-short pulse propagation in nonlinear optics and serves as a generalization of the well-known sine-Gordon equation. The non-holonomic deformation retains integrability subjected to higher-order differential constraints whereas the quasi-AB system, which is partially deviated from integrability, is characterized by an infinite subset of quantities (charges) that are conserved only asymptotically given the solution possesses definite space-time parity properties. Particular localized solutions to both these deformations of the AB system are obtained, some of which are qualitatively unique to the corresponding deformation, displaying similarities with physically observed excitations.

Application of regularization maps to quantum mechanical systems in 2 and 3 dimensions

We extend the Levi-Civita (L-C) and Kustaanheimo-Stiefel (K-S) regularization methods that maps the classical system where a particle moves under the combined influence of $\frac{1}{r}$ and $r^2$ potentials to a harmonic oscillator with inverted sextic potential and interactions to corresponding quantum mechanical counterparts, both in 2 and 3 dimensions. Using the perturbative solutions of the Schrödinger equation of the later systems, we derive the eigen spectrum of the Hydrogen atom in presence of an additional harmonic potential. We have also obtained the mapping of a particle moving in the shifted harmonic potential to H-atom using Bohlin-Sundman transformation, for quantum regime. Exploiting this equivalence, the solution to the Schrödinger equation of the former is obtained from the solutions of the later.

On a geometric description of time dependent singular Lagrangians with applications to biological systems

We consider certain analytical features of a stochastic model that can explain among other things competition among species and simultaneous predation on the competing species from a geometric perspective which allows for a systematic description of models admitting singular Lagrangians. The model equations are shown to admit a Jacobi Last Multiplier which in turn allows for the construction of a Lagrangian. The Lagrangian is of singular nature so that construction of the Hamiltonian via a Legendre transformation is not possible. A Hamiltonian description of the model therefore requires the introduction of Dirac brackets. Explicit results are presented for the "Kill the winner" model and its reductions.

On Geometrical Couplings of Dissipation and Curl Forces

In this paper, we present several geometric ways to incorporate gyroscopic and dissipative forces to curl forces. We first present a proper metriplectic geometry. Then, using the Herglotz principle and generalized Euler-Lagrange equation, we propose a formulation of dissipative radial curl forces. Finally, we extend our result to azimuthal curl force using Galley's method, which leads to a natural formulation for Lagrangian and Hamiltonian dynamics of generic non-conservative systems.

A System of Billiard and Its Application to Information-Theoretic Entropy

In this article, we define an information-theoretic entropy based on the Ihara zeta function of a graph which is called the Ihara entropy. A dynamical system consists of a billiard ball and a set of reflectors correspond to a combinatorial graph. The reflectors are represented by the vertices of the graph. Movement of the billiard ball between two reflectors is represented by the edges. The prime cycles of this graph generate the bi-infinite sequences of the corresponding symbolic dynamical system. The number of different prime cycles of a given length can be expressed in terms of the adjacency matrix of the oriented line graph. It also constructs the formal power series expansion of Ihara zeta function. Therefore, the Ihara entropy has a deep connection with the dynamical system of billiards. As an information-theoretic entropy, it fulfils the generalized Shannon-Khinchin axioms. It is a weakly decomposable entropy whose composition law is given by the Lazard formal group law.

Analysis and comparative study of non-holonomic and quasi-integrable deformations of the Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation

The non-holonomic deformation of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, uniquely obtained from both the Lax pair and Kupershmidt's bi-Hamiltonian [Phys. Lett. A 372, 2634 (2008)] approaches, is compared with the quasi-integrable deformation of the same system [Ferreira et. al. JHEP 2012, 103 (2012)]. It is found that these two deformations can locally coincide only when the phase of the corresponding solution is discontinuous in space, following a definite phase-modulus coupling of the non-holonomic inhomogeneity function. These two deformations are further found to be not gauge-equivalent in general, following the Lax formalism of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. However, asymptotically they converge for localized solutions as expected. Similar conditional correspondence of nonholonomic deformation with a non-integrable deformation, namely, due to local scaling of the amplitude of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation is further obtained.

Jacobi-Maupertuis Randers-Finsler metric for curved spaces and the gravitational magnetoelectric effect

In this paper we return to the subject of Jacobi metrics for timelike and null geodsics in stationary spactimes, correcting some previous misconceptions. We show that not only null geodesics, but also timelike geodesics are governed by a Jacobi-Maupertuis type variational principle and a Randers-Finsler metric for which we give explicit formulae. The cases of the Taub-NUT and Kerr spacetimes are discussed in detail. Finally we show how our Jacobi-Maupertuis Randers-Finsler metric may be expressed in terms of the effective medium describing the behaviour of Maxwell's equations in the curved spacetime. In particular, we see in very concrete terms how the magnetolectric susceptibility enters the Jacobi-Maupertuis-Randers-Finsler function.

On the quest for generalized Hamiltonian descriptions of $3D$-flows generated by curl of a vector potential

We study Hamiltonian analysis of three-dimensional advection flow $\mathbf{\dot{x}}=\mathbf{v}({\bf x})$ of incompressible nature $\nabla \cdot {\bf v} ={\bf 0}$ assuming that dynamics is generated by the curl of a vector potential $\mathbf{v} = \nabla \times \mathbf{A}$. More concretely, we elaborate Nambu-Hamiltonian and bi-Hamiltonian characters of such systems under the light of vanishing or non-vanishing of the quantity $\mathbf{A} \cdot \nabla \times \mathbf{A}$. We present an example (satisfying $\mathbf{A} \cdot \nabla \times \mathbf{A} \neq 0$) which can be written as in the form of Nambu-Hamiltonian and bi-Hamiltonian formulations. We present another example (satisfying $\mathbf{A} \cdot \nabla \times \mathbf{A} = 0$) which we cannot able to write it in the form of a Nambu-Hamiltonian or bi-Hamiltonian system. On the hand, this second example can be manifested in terms of Hamiltonian one-form and yields generalized or vector Hamiltonian equations $\dot{x}_i = - ε_{ijk}{\partial η_j}/{\partial x_k}$.

An analytic technique for the solutions of nonlinear oscillators with damping using the Abel Equation

Using the Chiellini condition for integrability we derive explicit solutions for a generalized system of Riccati equations $\ddot{x}+αx^{2n+1}\dot{x}+x^{4n+3}=0$ by reduction to the first-order Abel equation assuming the parameter $α\ge 2\sqrt{2(n+1)}$. The technique, which was proposed by Harko \textit{et al}, involves use of an auxiliary system of first-order differential equations sharing a common solution with the Abel equation. In the process analytical proofs of some of the conjectures made earlier on the basis of numerical investigations in \cite{SJKB} is provided.

Bianchi-IX, Darboux-Halphen and Chazy-Ramanujan

Bianchi-IX four metrics are $SU(2)$ invariant solutions of vacuum Einstein equation, for which the connection-wise self-dual case describes the Euler Top, while the curvature-wise self-dual case yields the Ricci flat classical Darboux-Halphen system. It is possible to see such a solution exhibiting Ricci flow. The classical Darboux-Halphen system is a special case of the generalized one that arises from a reduction of the self-dual Yang-Mills equation and the solutions to the related homogeneous quadratic differential equations provide the desired metric. A few integrable and near-integrable dynamical systems related to the Darboux-Halphen system and occurring in the study of Bianchi IX gravitational instanton have been listed as well. We explore in details whether self-duality implies integrability.

Chiellini integrability condition, planar isochronous systems and Hamiltonian structures of Liénard equation

Using a novel transformation involving the Jacobi Last Multiplier (JLM) we derive an old integrability criterion due to Chiellini for the Liénard equation. By combining the Chiellini condition for integrability and Jacobi's Last Multiplier the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian of the Liénard equation is derived. We also show that the Kukles equation is the only equation in the Liénard family which satisfies both the Chiellini integrability and the Sabatini criterion for isochronicity conditions. In addition we examine this result by mapping the Liénard equation to a harmonic oscillator equation using tacitly Chiellini's condition. Finally we provide a metriplectic and complex Hamiltonian formulation of the Liénard equation through the use of Chiellini condition for integrability.

First integrals of Generalized Darboux-Halphen systems and Membrane Paradigm

The Darboux-Halphen system of equations have common or individual additive terms depending on the matrices defining Yang-Mills gauge potential fields. Tod (Phys. Lett. A 190 (1994) 221-224), described a conserved quantity for the classical systems with no additive terms. We show that the conserved quantity apply even for the generalized cases with common additive terms. A theory has been presented, with an example, of how to formulate conserved quantities for equation with individual additive terms. We also briefly shed some light on the issues of surface motions of fluids in conncetion to Nahm`s equation and the self-duality and integrability of membrane dynamics.

Monotonicity of the period function of the Liénard equation of second kind

This paper is concerned with the monotonicity of the period function for closed orbits of systems of the Liénard II type equation given by $\ddot{x} + f(x)\dot{x}^{2} + g(x) = 0$. We generalize Chicone's result regarding the monotonicity of the period function to planar Hamiltonian vector fields in the presence of a position dependent mass. Sufficient conditions are also given for the isochronicity of the potential in case of such a system.

Quasi-Integrability in Supersymmetric Sine-Gordon Models

The deformed supersymmetric sine-Gordon model, obtained through known deformation of the corresponding potential, is found to be quasi-integrable, like its non-supersymmetric counterpart, which was observed earlier. The system expectedly possesses finite number of conserved quantities, leaving-out an infinite number of non-conserved anomalous charges. The quasi-integrability of this supersymmetric model heavily rely on the boundary conditions of the potential, otherwise rendered to be completely non-integrable. Moreover, interesting additional algebraic structures appear, absent in the non-supersymmetric counterparts.

Regularization of Kepler Problem in $κ$-spacetime

In this paper we regularize the Kepler problem on $κ$-spacetime in several different ways. First, we perform a Moser-type regularization and then we proceed for the Ligon-Schaaf regularization to our problem. In particular, generalizing Heckman-de Laat (J. Symplectic Geom. 10, (2012), 463-473) in the noncommutative context we show that the Ligon-Schaaf regularization map follows from an adaptation of the Moser regularization can be generalized to the Kepler problem on $κ$-spacetime.

Schwarzschild Instanton in Emergent Gravity

In the bottom-up approach of emergent gravity we attempt to find symplectic gauge fields emerging from Euclidean Schwarzschild instanton, which is studied as electromagnetism defined on the symplectic space $(M,ω)$. Geometrical engineering with the emergent metric sets up the Seiberg Witten map between commutative and non-commutative gauge fields, preparing the ground for the evaluation of topological invariants in terms of the underlying gauge theory quantities.

Taub-NUT as Bertrand spacetime with magnetic fields

Based on symmetries Taub-NUT shares with Bertrand spacetime, we cast it as the latter with magnetic fields. Its nature as a Bianchi-IX gravitational instanton and other related geometrical properties are reviewed. We provide an easy derivation and comparison between the spatial Killing-Yano tensors deduced from first-integrals and the corresponding hyperkähler structures and finally verify the existence of a graded Lie-algebra structure via Schouten-Nijenhuis brackets.

Fradkin-Bacry-Ruegg-Souriau vector in kappa-deformed space-time

We study presence of an additional symmetry of a generic central potential in the $κ$-space-time. An explicit construction of Fradkin and Bacry, Ruegg, Souriau (FBRS) for a central potential is carried out and the piece-wise conserved nature of the vector is established. We also extend the study to Kepler systems with a drag term, particularly Gorringe-Leach equation is generalized to the $κ$-deformed space. The possibility of mapping Gorringe-Leach equation to an equation with out drag term is exploited in associating a similar conserved vector to system with a drag term. An extension of duality between two class of central potential is introduced in the $κ$-deformed space and is used to investigate the duality existing between two class of Gorringe-Leach equations. All the results obtained can be retraced to the correct commutative limit as we let $a \rightarrow 0$.

Generalized Virasoro algebra: left-symmetry and related algebraic and hydrodynamic properties

Motivated by the work of Kupershmidt (J. Nonlin. Math. Phys. 6 (1998), 222 --245) we discuss the occurrence of left symmetry in a generalized Virasoro algebra. The multiplication rule is defined, which is necessary and sufficient for this algebra to be quasi-associative. Its link to geometry and nonlinear systems of hydrodynamic type is also recalled. Further, the criteria of skew-symmetry, derivation and Jacobi identity making this algebra into a Lie algebra are derived. The coboundary operators are defined and discussed. We deduce the hereditary operator and its generalization to the corresponding $3-$ary bracket. Further, we derive the so-called $ρ-$compatibility equation and perform a phase-space extension. Finally, concrete relevant particular cases are investigated.

Geometrical and Dynamical Aspects of Nonlinear Higher-Order Riccati Systems

We study a geometrical formulation of the nonlinear second-order Riccati equation (SORE) in terms of the projective vector field equation on $S^1$, whichn in turn is related to the stability algebra of Virasoro orbit. Using Darboux integrability method we obtain the first-integral of SORE and the results are applied to the study of its Lagrangian and Hamiltonian description. We unveil the relation between the Darboux polynomials and master symmetries associated to second-order Riccati. Using these results we show the existence of a Lagrangian description for the related system, and the Painlevé II equation is analysed.

Noncommutative Classical Dynamics on Velocity Phase Space and Souriau Formalism

We consider Feynman-Dyson's proof of Maxwell's equations using the Jacobi identities on the velocity phase space. In this paper we generalize the Feynman-Dyson's scheme by incorporating the non-commutativity between various spatial coordinates along with the velocity coordinates. This allows us to study a generalized class of Hamiltonian systems. We explore various dynamical flows associated to the Souriau form associated to this generalized Feynman-Dyson's scheme. Moreover, using the Souriau form we show that these new classes of generalized systems are volume preserving mechanical systems.

We study the Painleve and symmetry analyses of these newly found equations and show that they yield soliton solutions.

MICZ Kepler Systems in Noncommutative Space and Duality of Force Laws

In this paper, we analyze the modification of integrable models in the $κ$-deformed space-time. We show that two dimensional isotropic oscillator problem, Kepler problem and MICZ-Kepler problem in $κ$-deformed space-time admit integrals of motion as in the commutative space. We also show that the duality equivalence between $κ$-deformed Kepler problem and $κ$-deformed two-dimensional isotropic oscillator explicitly, by deriving Bohlin-Sundman transformation which maps these two systems. These results are valid to all orders the the deformation parameter.

Study of the family of Nonlinear Schrodinger equations by using the Adler-Kosant-Symes framework and the Tu methodology and their Non-holonomic deformation

The objective of this work is to explore the class of equations of the Non-linear Schrodinger type by employing the Adler-Kostant-Symes theorem and the Tu methodology. In the first part of the work, the AKS theory is discussed in detail showing how to obtain the non-linear equations starting from a suitably chosen spectral problem.Equations derived by this method include different members of the NLS family like the NLS, the coupled KdV type NLS, the generalized NLS, the vector NLS, the Derivative NLS, the Chen-Lee-Liu and the Kundu-Eckhaus equations. In the second part of the paper, the steps in the Tu methodology that are used to formulate the hierarchy of non-linear evolution equations starting from a spectral problem, are outlined. The AKNS, Kaup-Newell, and generalized DNLS hierarchies are obtained by using this algorithm. Several reductions of the hierarchies are illustrated. The famous trace identity is then applied to obtain the Hamiltonian structure of these hierarchies and establish their complete integrability. In the last part of the paper, the non-holonomic deformation of the class of integrable systems belonging to the NLS family is studied. Equations examined include the NLS, coupled KdV-type NLS and Derivative NLS (both Kaup-Newell and Chen-Lee-Liu equations). NHD is also applied to the hierarchy of equations in the AKNS system and the KN system obtained through application of the Tu methodology. Finally, we discuss the connection between the two formalisms and indicate the directions of our future endeavour in this area.

A generalized non-Hermitian Pais-Uhlenbeck quantum Hamiltonian, its Hermitian equivalence and position-dependent mass correspondence

We explore the Jacobi Last Multiplier as a means for deriving the Lagrangian of a fourth-order differential equation. In particular we consider the classical problem of the Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillator and write down the accompanying Hamiltonian. We then compare such an expression with an alternative derivation of the Hamiltonian that makes use of the Ostrogradski's method and show that a mapping from the one to the other is achievable by variable transformations. Assuming canonical quantization procedure to be valid we go for the operator version of the Hamiltonian that represents a pair of uncoupled oscillators. This motivates us to propose a generalized Pais-Uhlenbeck Hamiltonian in terms of the usual harmonic oscillator creation and annihilation operators by including terms quadratic and linear in them. Such a Hamiltonian turns out to be essentially non-Hermitian but has an equivalent Hermitian representation which is reducible to a typically position-dependent reduced mass form.

A Quasi-Lie Schemes Approach to Second-Order Gambier Equations

A quasi-Lie scheme is a geometric structure that provides t-dependent changes of variables transforming members of an associated family of systems of first-order differential equations into members of the same family. In this note we introduce two quasi-Lie schemes for studying second-order Gambier equations in a geometric way. This allows us to study the transformation of these equations into simpler canonical forms, which solves a gap in the previous literature, and other relevant differential equations, which leads to derive new constants of motion for families of second-order Gambier equations. Additionally, we describe general solutions of certain second-order Gambier equations in terms of particular solutions of Riccati equations, linear systems, and t-dependent frequency harmonic oscillators.

Dynamical Studies of Equations from the Gambier Family

We consider the hierarchy of higher-order Riccati equations and establish their connection with the Gambier equation. Moreover we investigate the relation of equations of the Gambier family to other nonlinear differential systems. In particular we explore their connection to the generalized Ermakov-Pinney and Milne-Pinney equations. In addition we investigate the consequence of introducing Okamoto's folding transformation which maps the reduced Gambier equation to a Liénard type equation. Finally the conjugate Hamiltonian aspects of certain equations belonging to this family and their connection with superintegrability are explored.

Higher-order Abel equations: Lagrangian formalism, first integrals and Darboux polynomials

A geometric approach is used to study a family of higher-order nonlinear Abel equations. The inverse problem of the Lagrangian dynamics is studied in the particular case of the second-order Abel equation and the existence of two alternative Lagrangian formulations is proved, both Lagrangians being of a non-natural class (neither potential nor kinetic term). These higher-order Abel equations are studied by means of their Darboux polynomials and Jacobi multipliers. In all the cases a family of constants of the motion is explicitly obtained. The general n-dimensional case is also studied.

On the MHD load and the MHD metage

In analogy with the load and the metage in hydrodynamics, we define magnetohydrodynamic load and magnetohydrodynamic metage in the case of magnetofluids. They can be used to write the magnetic field in MHD in Clebsch's form. We show how these two concepts can be utilised to derive the magnetic analogue of the Ertel's theorem and also, how in the presence of non-trivial topology of the magnetic field in the magnetofluid one may associate the linking number of the magnetic field lines with the invariant MHD loads. The paper illustrates that the symmetry translation of the MHD metage in the corresponding label space generates the conservation of cross helicity.

Volume preserving multidimensional integrable systems and Nambu--Poisson geometry

In this paper we study generalized classes of volume preserving multidimensional integrable systems via Nambu--Poisson mechanics. These integrable systems belong to the same class of dispersionless KP type equation. Hence they bear a close resemblance to the self dual Einstein equation. All these dispersionless KP and dToda type equations can be studied via twistor geometry, by using the method of Gindikin's pencil of two forms. Following this approach we study the twistor construction of our volume preserving systems.

Quest for universal integrable models

In this paper we discuss a universal integrable model, given by a sum of two Wess-Zumino-Witten-Novikov (WZWN) actions, corresponding to two different orbits of the coadjoint action of a loop group on its dual, and the Polyakov-Weigmann cocycle describing their interactions. This is an effective action for free fermions on a torus with nontrivial boundary conditions. It is universal in the sense that all other known integrable models can be derived as reductions of this model. Hence our motivation is to present an unified description of different integrable models. We present a proof of this universal action from the action of the trivial dynamical system on the cotangent bundles of the loop group. We also present some examples of reductions.
