Maximal acceleration in a Lorentz invariant non-commutative space-time

In this paper, we derive the non-commutative corrections to the maximal acceleration in the Doplicher-Fredenhagen-Roberts (DFR) space-time and show that the effect of the non-commutativity is to decrease the magnitude of the value of the maximal acceleration in the commutative limit. We also obtain an upper bound on the acceleration along the non-commutative coordinates using the positivity condition on the magnitude of the maximal acceleration in the commutative space-time. From the Newtonian limit of the geodesic equation and Einstein's equation for linearised gravity, we derive the explicit form of Newton's potential in DFR space-time. By expressing the non-commutative correction term of the maximal acceleration in terms of Newton's potential and applying the positivity condition, we obtain a lower bound on the radial distance between two particles under the gravitational attraction in DFR space-time. We also derive modified uncertainty relation and commutation relation between coordinates and its conjugate, due to the existence of maximal acceleration.

Application of regularization maps to quantum mechanical systems in 2 and 3 dimensions

We extend the Levi-Civita (L-C) and Kustaanheimo-Stiefel (K-S) regularization methods that maps the classical system where a particle moves under the combined influence of $\frac{1}{r}$ and $r^2$ potentials to a harmonic oscillator with inverted sextic potential and interactions to corresponding quantum mechanical counterparts, both in 2 and 3 dimensions. Using the perturbative solutions of the Schrödinger equation of the later systems, we derive the eigen spectrum of the Hydrogen atom in presence of an additional harmonic potential. We have also obtained the mapping of a particle moving in the shifted harmonic potential to H-atom using Bohlin-Sundman transformation, for quantum regime. Exploiting this equivalence, the solution to the Schrödinger equation of the former is obtained from the solutions of the later.

Quantisation of Lorentz invariant scalar field theory in non-commutative space-time and its consequence

Quantisation of Lorentz invariant scalar field theory in Doplicher-Fredenhagen-Roberts (DFR) space-time, a Lorentz invariant, non-commutative space-time is studied. Absence of a unique Lagrangian in non-commutative space-time necessitates us to use an approach to quantisation that is based on the equations of motion alone. Using this we derive the equal time commutation relation between Doplicher-Fredenhagen-Roberts-Amorim (DFRA) scalar field and its conjugate, which has non-commutative dependent modifications, but the corresponding creation and annihilation operators obey usual algebra. We show that imposing the condition that the commutation relation between the field and its conjugate is same as that in the commutative space-time leads to a deformation of the algebra of quantised oscillators. Both these deformed commutation relations derived are valid to all orders in the non-commutative parameter. By analysing the first non-vanishing terms which are $θ^3$ order, we show that the deformed commutaton relations scale as $1/λ^4$, where $λ$ is the length scale set by the non-commutativity of the space-time. We also derive the conserved currents for DFRA scalar field. Further, we analyse the effects of non-commutativity on Unruh effect by analysing a detector coupled to the DFRA scalar field, showing that the Unruh temperature is not modified but the thermal radiation seen by the accelerated observer gets correction due to the non-commutativity of space-time.

Regularization of Kepler Problem in $κ$-spacetime

In this paper we regularize the Kepler problem on $κ$-spacetime in several different ways. First, we perform a Moser-type regularization and then we proceed for the Ligon-Schaaf regularization to our problem. In particular, generalizing Heckman-de Laat (J. Symplectic Geom. 10, (2012), 463-473) in the noncommutative context we show that the Ligon-Schaaf regularization map follows from an adaptation of the Moser regularization can be generalized to the Kepler problem on $κ$-spacetime.

Dimensional flow in the kappa-deformed space-time

We derive the modified diffusion equations defined on kappa-space-time and using these, investigate the change in the spectral dimension of kappa-space-time with the probe scale. These deformed diffusion equations are derived by applying Wick's rotation to the $κ$-deformed Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger equations obtained from different choices of Klein-Gordon equations in the $κ$-deformed space-time. Using the solutions of these equations, obtained by perturbative method, we calculate the spectral dimension for different choices of the generalized Laplacian and analyse the dimensional flow in the $κ$-space-time. In the limit of commutative space-time, we recover the well known equality of spectral dimension and topological dimension. We show that the higher derivative term in the deformed diffusion equations make the spectral dimension unbounded (from below) at high energies. We show that the finite mass of the probe results in the spectral dimension to become infinitely negative at low energies also. In all the cases, we have analysed the effect of finite size of the probe on the spectral dimension.

Fradkin-Bacry-Ruegg-Souriau vector in kappa-deformed space-time

We study presence of an additional symmetry of a generic central potential in the $κ$-space-time. An explicit construction of Fradkin and Bacry, Ruegg, Souriau (FBRS) for a central potential is carried out and the piece-wise conserved nature of the vector is established. We also extend the study to Kepler systems with a drag term, particularly Gorringe-Leach equation is generalized to the $κ$-deformed space. The possibility of mapping Gorringe-Leach equation to an equation with out drag term is exploited in associating a similar conserved vector to system with a drag term. An extension of duality between two class of central potential is introduced in the $κ$-deformed space and is used to investigate the duality existing between two class of Gorringe-Leach equations. All the results obtained can be retraced to the correct commutative limit as we let $a \rightarrow 0$.

Noncommutative scalar quasinormal modes and quantization of entropy of a BTZ black hole

We obtain an exact analytic expression for the quasinormal modes of a noncommutative massless scalar field in the background of a massive spinless BTZ black hole up to the first order in the deformation parameter. We also show that the equations of motion governing these quasinormal modes are identical in form to the equations of motion of a commutative massive scalar field in the background of a fictitious massive spinning BTZ black hole. This results hints at a duality between the commutative and noncommutative systems in the background of a BTZ black hole. Using the obtained results for quasinormal mode frequencies, the area and entropy spectra for the BTZ black hole in the presence of noncommutativity are calculated. In particular, the separations between the neighboring values of these spectra are determined and it is found that they are nonuniform. Therefore, it appears that the noncommutativity leads to a non-equispaced (discrete) area and entropy spectra.

Spectral Dimension of kappa-deformed space-time

We investigate the spectral dimension of $κ$-space-time using the $κ$-deformed diffusion equation. The deformed equation is constructed for two different choices of Laplacians in $n$-dimensional, $κ$-deformed Euclidean space-time. We use an approach where the deformed Laplacians are expressed in the commutative space-time itself. Using the perturbative solutions to diffusion equations, we calculate the spectral dimension of $κ$-deformed space-time and show that it decreases as the probe length decreases. By introducing a bound on the deformation parameter, spectral dimension is guaranteed to be positive definite. We find that, for one of the choices of the Laplacian, the non-commutative correction to the spectral dimension depends on the topological dimension of the space-time whereas for the other, it is independent of the topological dimension. We have also analysed the dimensional flow for the case where the probe particle has a finite extension, unlike a point particle.

Effects of Noncommutativity on the Black Hole Entropy

In this paper the BTZ black hole geometry is probed with a noncommutative scalar field which obeys the $κ$-Minkowski algebra. The entropy of the BTZ black hole is calculated using the brick wall method. The contribution of the noncommutativity to the black hole entropy is explicitly evaluated up to the first order in the deformation parameter. We also argue that such a correction to the black hole entropy can be interpreted as arising from the renormalization of the Newton's constant due to the effects of the noncommutativity.

MICZ Kepler Systems in Noncommutative Space and Duality of Force Laws

In this paper, we analyze the modification of integrable models in the $κ$-deformed space-time. We show that two dimensional isotropic oscillator problem, Kepler problem and MICZ-Kepler problem in $κ$-deformed space-time admit integrals of motion as in the commutative space. We also show that the duality equivalence between $κ$-deformed Kepler problem and $κ$-deformed two-dimensional isotropic oscillator explicitly, by deriving Bohlin-Sundman transformation which maps these two systems. These results are valid to all orders the the deformation parameter.

A Dirac type xp-Model and the Riemann Zeros

We propose a Dirac type modification of the xp-model to a $x \slashed{p}$ model on a semi-infinite cylinder. This model is inspired by recent work by Sierra et al on the xp-model on the half-line. Our model realizes the Berry-Keating conjecture on the Riemann zeros. We indicate the connection of our model to that of gapped graphene with a supercritical Coulomb charge, which might provide a physical system for the study of the zeros of the Riemann Zeta function.

Uniformly accelerated detector in the $κ$-deformed Dirac vacuum

In this paper, we investigate how a uniformly accelerated detector responds to vacuum state of a Dirac field in the $κ$-Minkowski space-time. Starting from $κ$-deformed Dirac theory, which is invariant under $κ$-Poincare algebra, we derive $κ$-deformed Wightmann function for Dirac field, which is valid up to first order in the deformation parameter $a$. Using this, we calculate the response function of the uniformly accelerated detector, which is coupled to massless Dirac field in $κ$-spacetime. From this, we obtain the modification to Unruh effect for the $κ$-deformed Dirac field, valid up to first order in the deformation parameter.

Geodesic equation in $k$-Minkowski spacetime

In this paper, we derive corrections to the geodesic equation due to the $k$-deformation of curved space-time, up to the first order in the deformation parameter a. This is done by generalizing the method from our previous paper [31], to include curvature effects. We show that the effect of $k$-noncommutativity can be interpreted as an extra drag that acts on the particle while moving in this $k$-deformed curved space. We have derived the Newtonian limit of the geodesic equation and using this, we discuss possible bounds on the deformation parameter. We also derive the generalized uncertainty relations valid in the non-relativistic limit of the $k$-space-time.

Uniformly accelerating observer in $κ$-deformed space-time

In this paper, we study the effect of $κ$-deformation of the space-time on the response function of a uniformly accelerating detector coupled to a scalar field. Starting with $κ$-deformed Klein-Gordon theory, which is invariant under a $κ$-Poincaré algebra and written in commutative space-time, we derive $κ$-deformed Wightman functions, valid up to second order in the deformation parameter $a$. Using this, we show that the first non-vanishing correction to the Unruh thermal distribution is only in the second order in $a$. We also discuss various other possible sources of $a$-dependent corrections to this thermal distribution.

$κ$-deformed Dirac Equation

We construct a Dirac equation in $κ$-Minkowski spacetime and analyse its implications. This $κ$-deformed Dirac equation is expanded as a power series involving derivatives with respect to commutative coordinates and the deformation parameter, $a$. We show that the $κ$-deformation breaks the charge conjugation invariance but preserves parity and time reversal. We then study how the Hydrogen atom spectrum is modified due to the $κ$-deformation, applying perturbation theory. Using this, we obtain bounds on the deformation parameter $a$, which are few orders higher than the Planck length. We also show that the effects of deformation on the spectrum are distinct from that of Moyal deformation and generalized uncertainty principle.

Electrodynamics on $κ$-Minkowski space-time

In this paper, we derive Lorentz force and Maxwell's equations on kappa-Minkowski space-time up to the first order in the deformation parameter. This is done by elevating the principle of minimal coupling to non-commutative space-time. We also show the equivalence of minimal coupling prescription and Feynman's approach. It is shown that the motion in kappa space-time can be interpreted as motion in a background gravitational field, which is induced by this non-commutativity. In the static limit, the effect of kappa deformation is to scale the electric charge. We also show that the laws of electrodynamics depend on the mass of the charged particle, in kappa space-time.

'Schwinger Model' on the Fuzzy Sphere

In this paper, we construct a model of spinor fields interacting with specific gauge fields on fuzzy sphere and analyze the chiral symmetry of this 'Schwinger model'. In constructing the theory of gauge fields interacting with spinors on fuzzy sphere, we take the approach that the Dirac operator $D_q$ on q-deformed fuzzy sphere $S_{qF}^2$ is the gauged Dirac operator on fuzzy sphere. This introduces interaction between spinors and specific one parameter family of gauge fields. We also show how to express the field strength for this gauge field in terms of the Dirac operators $D_q$ and $D$ alone. Using the path integral method, we have calculated the $2n-$point functions of this model and show that, in general, they do not vanish, reflecting the chiral non-invariance of the partition function.

Geometric Finiteness, Holography and Quasinormal Modes for the Warped AdS_3 Black Hole

We show that there exists a precise kinematical notion of holography for the Euclidean warped $AdS_3$ black hole. This follows from the fact that the Euclidean warped $AdS_3$ black hole spacetime is a geometrically finite hyperbolic manifold. For such manifolds a theorem of Sullivan provides a one-to-one correspondence between the hyperbolic structure in the bulk and the conformal structure of its boundary. Using this theorem we obtain the holographic quasinormal modes for the warped $AdS_3$ black hole.

Maxwell's equations on the $κ$-Minkowski spacetime and Electric-Magnetic duality

We derive the Maxwell's equations on the $κ$-deformed spacetime, valid up to first order in the deformation parameter, using the Feynman's approach. We show that the electric-magnetic duality is a symmetry of these equations. It is also shown that the laws of electrodynamics are {\it different} for particles of equal charges, but with different masses. We show that the Poincare angular momentum, required to maintain the usual Lorentz algebra structure, do not get any $κ$-dependent corrections.

Newton's Equation on the kappa space-time and the Kepler problem

We study the modification of Newton's second law, upto first order in the deformation parameter $a$, in the $κ$-space-time. We derive the deformed Hamiltonian, expressed in terms of the commutative phase space variables, describing the particle moving in a central potential in the $κ$-space-time. Using this, we find the modified equations of motion and show that there is an additional force along the radial direction. Using Pioneer anomaly data, we set a bond as well as fix the sign of $a$. We also analyse the violation of equivalence principle predicted by the modified Newton's equation, valid up to first order in $a$ and use this also to set an upper bound on $a$.

The Central Charge of the Warped AdS^3 Black Hole

The AdS/CFT conjecture offers the possibility of a quantum description for a black hole in terms of a CFT. This has led to the study of general AdS^3 type black holes with a view to constructing an explicit toy quantum black hole model. Such a CFT description would be characterized by its central charge and the dimensions of its primary fields. Recently the expression for the central charges (C_L, C_R) of the CFT dual to the warped AdS^3 have been determined using asymptotic symmetry arguments. The central charges depend, as expected, on the warping factor. We show that topological arguments, used by Witten to constrain central charges for the BTZ black hole, can be generalized to deal with the warped AdS^3 case. Topology constrains the warped factor to be rational numbers while quasinormal modes are conjectured to give the dimensions of primary fields. We find that in the limit when warping is large or when it takes special rational values the system tends to Witten's conjectured unique CFT's with central charges that are multiples of 24.

Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics on Non-Commutative Plane

We study the Pauli equation on non-commutative plane. It is shown that the Supersymmetry algebra holds to all orders in the non-commutative parameter $θ$ in case the gyro-magnetic ratio $g$ is 2. Using Seiberg-Witten map, the first order in $θ$ correction to the spectrum is obtained in the case of uniform magnetic field. We find that the eigenstates in the non-commutative case are identical to the commutative case provided the magnetic field $B$ is everywhere replaced by $B(1+Bθ)$.
