Multi-parameter analysis of the obstacle scattering problem

We consider the acoustic field scattered by a bounded impenetrable obstacle and we study its dependence upon a certain set of parameters. As usual, the problem is modeled by an exterior Dirichlet problem for the Helmholtz equation Δu+k2u=0Δu +k^2u=0. We show that the solution uu and its far field pattern u∞u_\infty depend real analytically on the shape of the obstacle, the wave number kk, and the Dirichlet datum. We also prove a similar result for the corresponding Dirichlet-to-Neumann map.

Shape analyticity and singular perturbations for layer potential operators

We study the effect of regular and singular domain perturbations on layer potential operators for the Laplace equation. First, we consider layer potentials supported on a diffeomorphic image ϕ(∂Ω)ϕ(\partialΩ) of a reference set ∂Ω\partialΩ and we present some real analyticity results for the dependence upon the map ϕϕ. Then we introduce a perforated domain Ω(ε)Ω(ε) with a small hole of size εε and we compute power series expansions that describe the layer potentials on ∂Ω(ε)\partialΩ(ε) when the parameter εε approximates the degenerate value ε=0ε=0.

The first Grushin eigenvalue on cartesian product domains

In this paper we consider the first eigenvalue λ1(Ω)λ_1(Ω) of the Grushin operator ΔG:=Δx1+∣x1∣2sΔx2Δ_G:=Δ_{x_1}+|x_1|^{2s}Δ_{x_2} with Dirichlet boundary conditions on a bounded domain ΩΩ of Rd=Rd1+d2\mathbb{R}^d= \mathbb{R}^{d_1+d_2}. We prove that λ1(Ω)λ_1(Ω) admits a unique minimizer in the class of domains with prescribed finite volume which are the cartesian product of a set in Rd1\mathbb{R}^{d_1} and a set in Rd2\mathbb{R}^{d_2}, and that the minimizer is the product of two balls Ω1∗⊆Rd1Ω^*_1 \subseteq \mathbb{R}^{d_1} and Ω2∗⊆Rd2Ω_2^* \subseteq \mathbb{R}^{d_2}. Moreover, we provide a lower bound for ∣Ω1∗∣|Ω^*_1| and for λ1(Ω1∗×Ω2∗)λ_1(Ω_1^*\timesΩ_2^*). Finally, we consider the limiting problem as ss tends to 00 and to +∞+\infty.

Shape perturbation of Grushin eigenvalues

We consider the spectral problem for the Grushin Laplacian subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions on a bounded open subset of RN\mathbb{R}^N. We prove that the symmetric functions of the eigenvalues depend real analytically upon domain perturbations and we prove an Hadamard-type formula for their shape differential. In the case of perturbations depending on a single scalar parameter, we prove a Rellich-Nagy-type theorem which describes the bifurcation phenomenon of multiple eigenvalues. As corollaries, we characterize the critical shapes under isovolumetric and isoperimetric perturbations in terms of overdetermined problems and we deduce a new proof of the Rellich-Pohozaev identity for the Grushin eigenvalues.
