Examples of finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras in characteristic $2$

We present new examples of finite-dimensional Nichols algebra over fields of characteristic 2 starting from braided vector spaces that are not of diagonal type, admit realizations as Yetter-Drinfeld modules over finite abelian groups and are analogous to braidings over fields of odd characteristic with finite-dimensional Nichols algebras presented in arXiv:1905.03074. As these last ones, they are related to the Nichols algebras of finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension in characteristic 0 described in arXiv:1606.02521. New finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras over fields of characteristic 2 are obtained by bosonization with group algebras of suitable finite abelian groups.

On Nichols algebras over basic Hopf algebras

This is a contribution to the classification of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field $\Bbbk$ of characteristic 0. Concretely, we show that a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra whose Hopf coradical is basic is a lifting of a Nichols algebra of a semisimple Yetter-Drinfeld module and we explain how to classify Nichols algebras of this kind. We provide along the way new examples of Nichols algebras and Hopf algebras with finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension.

On the double of the (restricted) super Jordan plane

We consider the super Jordan plane, a braided Hopf algebra introduced--to the best of our knowledge--in works of N. Andruskiewitsch, I. Angiono, I. Heckenberger, and its restricted version in odd characteristic introduced by the same authors. We show that their Drinfeld doubles give rise naturally to Hopf superalgebras justifying a posteriori the adjective super given in their work. These Hopf superalgebras are extensions of super commutative ones by the enveloping, respectively restricted enveloping, algebra of $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$.

On the Hopf algebra structure of the Lusztig quantum divided power algebras

We study the Hopf algebra structure of Lusztig's quantum groups. First we show that the zero part is the tensor product of the group algebra of a finite abelian group with the enveloping algebra of an abelian Lie algebra. Second we build them from the plus, minus and zero parts by means of suitable actions and coactions within the formalism presented by Sommerhauser to describe triangular decompositions.

On the restricted Jordan plane in odd characteristic

In positive characteristic the Jordan plane covers a finite-dimensional Nichols algebra that was described by Cibils, Lauve and Witherspoon and we call the restricted Jordan plane. In this paper the characteristic is odd. The defining relations of the Drinfeld double of the restricted Jordan plane are presented and its simple modules are determined. A Hopf algebra that deserves the name of double of the Jordan plane is introduced and various quantum Frobenius maps are described. The finite-dimensional pre-Nichols algebras intermediate between the Jordan plane and its restricted version are classified. The defining relations of the graded dual of the Jordan plane are given.

On the Bosonization of the Super Jordan Plane

Let $H$ and $K$ be the bosonizations of the Jordan and super Jordan plane by the group algebra of a cyclic group; the algebra $K$ projects onto an algebra $L$ that can be thought of as the quantum Borel of $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ at $-1$. The finite-dimensional simple modules over $H$ and $K$, are classified; they all have dimension $1$, respectively $\le 2$. The indecomposable $L$-modules of dimension $\leq 5$ are also listed. An interesting monoidal subcategory of $\operatorname{rep} L$ is described.

A finite-dimensional Lie algebra arising from a Nichols algebra of diagonal type (rank 2)

Let $\mathcal{B}_{\mathfrak{q}}$ be a finite-dimensional Nichols algebra of diagonal type corresponding to a matrix $\mathfrak{q} \in \mathbf{k}^{θ\times θ}$, where $\mathbf{k}$ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. Let $\mathcal{L}_{\mathfrak{q}}$ be the Lusztig algebra associated to $\mathcal{B}_{\mathfrak{q}}$, see http://arxiv.org/abs/1501.04518. We present $\mathcal{L}_{\mathfrak{q}}$ as an extension (as braided Hopf algebras) of $\mathcal{B}_{\mathfrak{q}}$ by $\mathfrak Z_{\mathfrak{q}}$ where $\mathfrak Z_{\mathfrak{q}}$ is isomorphic to the universal enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak n_{\mathfrak{q}}$. We compute the Lie algebra $\mathfrak n_{\mathfrak{q}}$ when $θ= 2$.

Liftings of Nichols algebras of diagonal type I. Cartan type A

After the classification of the finite-dimensional Nichols algebras of diagonal type arXiv:math/0411477, arXiv:math/0605795, the determination of its defining relations arXiv:1008.4144, arXiv:1104.0268, and the verification of the generation in degree one conjecture arXiv:1104.0268, there is still one step missing in the classification of complex finite-dimensional Hopf algebras with abelian group, without restrictions on the order of the latter: the computation of all deformations or liftings. A technique towards solving this question was developed in arXiv:1212.5279, built on cocycle deformations. In this paper, we elaborate further and present an explicit algorithm to compute liftings. In our main result we classify all liftings of finite-dimensional Nichols algebras of Cartan type $A$, over a cosemisimple Hopf algebra $H$. This extends arXiv:math/0110136, where it was assumed that the parameter is a root of unity of order $>3$ and that $H$ is a commmutative group algebra. When the parameter is a root of unity of order 2 or 3, new phenomena appear: the quantum Serre relations can be deformed, this allows in turn the power root vectors to be deformed to elements in lower terms of the coradical filtration, but not necessarily in the group algebra. These phenomena are already present in the calculation of the liftings in type $A_2$ at a parameter of order 2 or 3 over an abelian group arXiv:math/0204075, arXiv:1003.5882, done by a different method using a computer program. As a by-product of our calculations, we present new infinite families of finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras.

Twisting Hopf algebras from cocycle deformations

Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra. Any finite-dimensional lifting of $V\in {}^{H}_{H}\mathcal{YD}$ arising as a cocycle deformation of $A=\mathfrak{B}(V)\#H$ defines a twist in the Hopf algebra $A^*$, via dualization. We follow this recipe to write down explicit examples and show that it extends known techniques for defining twists. We also contribute with a detailed survey about twists in braided categories.

Finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras over finite simple groups of Lie type II. Unipotent classes in symplectic groups

We show that Nichols algebras of most simple Yetter-Drinfeld modules over the projective symplectic linear group over a finite field, corresponding to unipotent orbits, have infinite dimension. We give a criterium to deal with unipotent classes of general finite simple groups of Lie type and apply it to regular classes

On finite-dimensional Hopf algebras

This is a survey on the state-of-the-art of the classification of finite-dimensional complex Hopf algebras. This general question is addressed through the consideration of different classes of such Hopf algebras. Pointed Hopf algebras constitute the class best understood; the classification of those with abelian group is expected to be completed soon and there is substantial progress in the non-abelian case.

On two finiteness conditions for Hopf algebras with nonzero integral

A Hopf algebra is co-Frobenius when it has a nonzero integral. It is proved that the composition length of the indecomposable injective comodules over a co-Frobenius Hopf algebra is bounded. As a consequence, the coradical filtration of a co-Frobenius Hopf algebra is finite; this confirms a conjecture by Sorin Dăscălescu and the first author. The proof is of categorical nature and the same result is obtained for Frobenius tensor categories of subexponential growth. A family of co-Frobenius Hopf algebras that are not of finite type over their Hopf socles is constructed, answering so in the negative another question by the same authors.

Extensions of finite quantum groups by finite groups

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for two Hopf algebras presented as central extensions to be isomorphic, in a suitable setting. We then study the question of isomorphism between the Hopf algebras constructed in 0707.0070v1 as quantum subgroups of quantum groups at roots of 1. Finally, we apply the first general result to show the existence of infinitely many non-isomorphic Hopf algebras of the same dimension, presented as extensions of finite quantum groups by finite groups.

The structure of double groupoids

We give a general description of the structure of a discrete double groupoid (with an extra, quite natural, filling condition) in terms of groupoid factorizations and groupoid 2-cocycles with coefficients in abelian group bundles. Our description goes as follows: To any double groupoid, we associate an abelian group bundle and a second double groupoid, its frame. The frame satisfies that every box is determined by its edges, and thus is called a `slim' double groupoid. In a first step, we prove that every double groupoid is obtained as an extension of its associated abelian group bundle by its frame. In a second, independent, step we prove that every slim double groupoid with filling condition is completely determined by a factorization of a certain canonically defined `diagonal' groupoid.

On pointed Hopf algebras associated with alternating and dihedral groups

We classify finite-dimensional complex pointed Hopf algebra with group of group-like elements isomorphic to A_5. We show that any pointed Hopf algebra with infinitesimal braiding associated with the conjugacy class of $π$ \in $A_n$ is infinite-dimensional if the order of $π$ is odd except for $π=(1 2 3)$ in $A_4$. We also study pointed Hopf algebras over the dihedral groups.

On the automorphisms of $U_q^+({\mathfrak g})$

Let g be a simple complex finite dimensional Lie algebra and let U_q^+(g) be the positive part of the quantum enveloping algebra of g. If g is of type A_2, the group of algebra automorphisms of U_q^+(g) is a semidirect product of a 2-dimensional torus and the group of automorphisms of the Dynkin diagram; any algebra automorphism is an automorphism of braided Hopf algebra, and preserves the standard grading [AD1]. This intriguing smallness of the group of algebra automorphisms raises questions about the extent of these phenomena. We discuss some of them in the present paper. We introduce the notion of ``algebra with few automorphisms" and establish some consequences. We prove some exploratory results concerning the group of algebra automorphisms for the type B_2. We study Hopf algebra automorphisms of Nichols algebras and their bosonizations and compute in particular the group of Hopf algebra automorphisms of U_q^+(g).
