Bi-parameter Potential theory and Carleson measures for the Dirichlet space on the bidisc

We characterize the Carleson measures for the Dirichlet space on the bidisc, hence also its multiplier space. Following Maz'ya and Stegenga, the characterization is given in terms of a capacitary condition. We develop the foundations of a bi-parameter potential theory on the bidisc and prove a Strong Capacitary Inequality. In order to do so, we have to overcome the obstacle that the Maximum Principle fails in the bi-parameter theory.

Bi-parameter Carleson embeddings with product weights

Coifman--Meyer multipliers represent a very important class of bi-linear singular operators, which were extensively studied and generalized. They have a natural multi-parameter counterpart. Decomposition of those operators into paraproducts, and, more generally to multi-parameter paraproducts is a staple of the theory. In this paper we consider weighted estimates for bi-parameter paraproducts that appear from such multipliers. Then we apply our harmonic analysis results to several complex variables. Namely, we show that a (weighted) Carleson embedding for a scale of Dirichlet spaces from the bi-torus to the bi-disc is equivalent to a simple ``box'' condition, for product weights on the bi-disc and arbitrary weights on the bi-torus. This gives a new simple necessary and sufficient condition for the embedding of the whole scale of weighted Dirichlet spaces of holomorphic functions on the bi-disc. This scale of Dirichlet spaces includes the classical Dirichlet space on the bi-disc. Our result is in contrast to the classical situation on the bi-disc considered by Chang and Fefferman, when a counterexample due to Carleson shows that the ``box'' condition does not suffice for the embedding to hold. But this was the embedding of bi-harmonic functions in bi-harmonic Hardy class. Our result can be viewed as a new and unexpected combinatorial property of all positive finite planar measures.

Second order Riesz transforms on multiply-connected Lie groups and processes with jumps

We study a class of combinations of second order Riesz transforms on Lie groups that are multiply connected, composed of a discrete abelian component and a compact connected component. We prove sharp $L^{p}$ estimates for these operators, therefore generalising previous results. We construct stochastic integrals with jump components adapted to functions defined on our semi-discrete set. We show that these second order Riesz transforms applied to a function may be written as conditional expectation of a simple transformation of a stochastic integral associated with the function. The analysis shows that Ito integrals for the discrete component must be written in an augmented discrete tangent plane of dimension twice larger than expected, and in a suitably chosen discrete coordinate system. Those artifacts are related to the difficulties that arise due to the discrete component, where derivatives of functions are no longer local. Previous representations of Riesz transforms through stochastic integrals in this direction do not consider discrete components and jump processes.

The Dirichlet space: A Survey

In this paper we survey many results on the Dirichlet space of analytic functions. Our focus is more on the classical Dirichlet space on the disc and not the potential generalizations to other domains or several variables. Additionally, we focus mainly on certain function theoretic properties of the Dirichlet space and omit covering the interesting connections between this space and operator theory. The results discussed in this survey show what is known about the Dirichlet space and compares it with the related results for the Hardy space.

Bilinear Forms on the Dirichlet Space

Let $\mathcal{D}$ be the classical Dirichlet space, the Hilbert space of holomorphic functions on the disk. Given a holomorphic symbol function $b$ we define the associated Hankel type bilinear form, initially for polynomials f and g, by $T_{b}(f,g):= < fg,b >_{\mathcal{D}} $, where we are looking at the inner product in the space $\mathcal{D}$. We let the norm of $T_{b}$ denotes its norm as a bilinear map from $\mathcal{D}\times\mathcal{D}$ to the complex numbers. We say a function $b$ is in the space $\mathcal{X}$ if the measure $dμ_{b}:=| b^{\prime}(z)| ^{2}dA$ is a Carleson measure for $\mathcal{D}$ and norm $\mathcal{X}$ by $$ \Vert b\Vert_{\mathcal{X}}:=| b(0)| +\Vert | b^{\prime}(z)| ^{2}dA\Vert_{CM(\mathcal{D})}^{1/2}. $$ Our main result is $T_{b}$ is bounded if and only if $b\in\mathcal{X}$ and $$ \Vert T_{b}\Vert_{\mathcal{D\times D}}\approx\Vert b\Vert_{\mathcal{X}}. $$
