A High Intensity Attosecond Light Source in Compact Geometry at ELI ALPS User Facility

High-order harmonic generation (HHG) has become a standard technique for producing attosecond XUV pulses in the laboratory, yet the high flux necessary for nonlinear XUV photoionization remains accessible to only a few research groups. Here, we introduce the SYLOS Compact high-harmonic beamline at ELI ALPS, specifically designed to provide the flux required for non-linear optics in the XUV. We present a detailed characterization of the beam line demonstrating its capability to generate and utilize both intense attosecond pulse trains and isolated attosecond pulses. We further showcase the two-XUV-photon double ionization of neon (Ne) and argon (Ar), achieved in a user campaign. The results underscore the beamline's capability to support cutting-edge attosecond experiments and investigations of ultrafast electron dynamics on the attosecond scale.

A pressure-robust discretization of Oseen's equation using stabilization in the vorticity equation

Discretization of Navier-Stokes' equations using pressure-robust finite element methods is considered for the high Reynolds number regime. To counter oscillations due to dominating convection we add a stabilization based on a bulk term in the form of a residual-based least squares stabilization of the vorticity equation supplemented by a penalty term on (certain components of) the gradient jump over the elements faces. Since the stabilization is based on the vorticity equation, it is independent of the pressure gradients, which makes it pressure-robust. Thus, we prove pressure-independent error estimates in the linearized case, known as Oseen's problem. In fact, we prove an $O(h^{k+\frac12})$ error estimate in the $L^2$-norm that is known to be the best that can be expected for this type of problem. Numerical examples are provided that, in addition to confirming the theoretical results, show that the present method compares favorably to the classical residual-based SUPG stabilization.

Analysis of Forward-Backward and Lepton Polarization Asymmetries in $B\to K_{1}\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$ Decays in the Two-Higgs-doublet Model

The exclusive semileptonic $B\to K_{1}(1270) \ell^{+}\ell^{-}$ ($\ell=μ, τ$) decays are analyzed in variants of two Higgs double models (THDMs). The mass eigenstates $K_{1}(1270)$ and $K_{1}(1400)$ are the mixture of two axial-vector SU(3) $^{1}{P}_{1}$ and $^{3}{P}_{1}$ states with the mixing angle $θ_{K}$. Making use of the form factors calculated in the Light Cone QCD approach and by taking the mixing angle $θ_{K}=-34^{\circ}$, the impact of the parameters of the THDMs on different asymmetries in above mentioned semileptonic $B$ meson decays are studied. In this context the forward-backward asymmetry and different lepton polarization asymmetries have been analyzed. We have found comprehensive effects of the parameters of the THDMs on the above mentioned asymmetries. Therefore, the precise measurements of these asymmetries at the LHC and different $B$ factories, for the above mentioned processes, can serve as a good tool to put some indirect constraints on the parametric space of the different versions of THDM.

Ab-initio tensile tests of Al bulk crystals and grain boundaries: on the universality of mechanical behaviour

We have performed ab-initio tensile tests of bulk Al along different tensile axes, as well as perpendicular to different grain boundaries to determine mechanical properties such as interface energy, work of separation and theoretical strength. We show that all the different investigated geometries exhibit energy-displacement curves that can be brought into coincidence in the spirit of the well known universal binding energy relationship curve. This simplifies significantly the calculation of ab-initio tensile strengths for the whole parameter space of grain boundaries.
