Shadow of F(R)-EH Black Hole and Constraints from EHT Observations

This work investigates the optical properties of a static, spherically symmetric, electrically charged black hole in f(R) gravity coupled to Euler-Heisenberg(EH) nonlinear electrodynamics(NLED). By analyzing photon trajectories in this background spacetime, we show how the model parameters affect light propagation, leading to wider ranges of lensed trajectories and photon rings. We identify regions of parameter space that admit physically consistent black hole shadows, characterized by the existence of a photon sphere located outside the event horizon and a shadow formed beyond it. These viable regions expand with increasing electric charge and increasing fR0, illustrating the interplay between gravitational and electromagnetic effects. By constraining the model using Event Horizon Telescope observations of M87*, we find that de Sitter black hole solutions remain compatible with the observational data, whereas anti-de Sitter solutions are disfavored for low electric charge and fR0 > -1. Finally, an analysis of the energy emission rate shows that higher electric charge enhances black hole evaporation, while stronger nonlinear electrodynamics effects and larger values of fR0 suppress it.

Constraints on Barrow entropy from M87* and S2 star observations

We use data from M87* central black hole shadow, as well as from the S2 star observations, in order to extract constraints on Barrow entropy. The latter is a modified entropy arising from quantum-gravitational effects on the black hole horizon, quantified by the new parameter $Δ$. Such a change in entropy leads to a change in temperature, as well as to the properties of the black hole and its shadow. We investigate the photon sphere and the shadow of a black hole with Barrow entropy, and assuming a simple model for infalling and radiating gas we estimate the corresponding intensity. Furthermore, we use the radius in order to extract the real part of the quasinormal modes, and for completeness we investigate the spherical accretion of matter onto the black hole, focusing on isothermal and polytropic test fluids. We extract the allowed parameter region, and by applying a Monte-Carlo-Markov Chains analysis we find that $ Δ\simeq 0.0036^{+0.0792}_{-0.0145}$. Hence, our results place the upper bound $Δ\lesssim0.0828$ at 1$σ$, a constraint that is less strong than the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis one, but significantly stronger than the late-time cosmological constraints.

Constraints on the magnetized Ernst black hole spacetime through quasiperiodic oscillations

We study the dynamics of test particles around a magnetized Ernst black hole considering its magnetic field in the environment surrounding the black hole. We show how its magnetic field can influence the dynamics of particles and epicyclic motion around the black hole. Based on the analysis, we find that the radius of the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) for both neutral and charged test particles and epicyclic frequencies are strongly affected by the influence of the magnetic field. We also show that the ISCO radius of charged particles decreases rapidly. It turns out that the gravitational and Lorentz forces of the magnetic field are combined, thus strongly shrinking the values of the ISCO of charged test particles. Finally, we obtain the generic form for the epicyclic frequencies and select three microquasars with known astrophysical quasiperiodic oscillation (QPO) data to constrain the magnetic field. We show that the magnetic field is of the order of magnitude $B\sim 10^{-7}$ Gauss, taking into account the motion of neutral particles in circular orbit about the black hole.

Equatorial and polar quasinormal modes and quasiperiodic oscillations of quantum deformed Kerr black hole

In this paper we focus on the relation between quasinormal modes (QNMs) and a rotating black hole shadows. As a specific example, we consider the quantum deformed Kerr black hole obtained via Newman--Janis--Azreg-A\"ınou algorithm. In particular, using the geometric-optics correspondence between the parameters of a QNMs and the conserved quantities along geodesics, we show that, in the eikonal limit, the real part of QNMs is related to the Keplerian frequency for equatorial orbits. To this end, we explore the typical shadow radius for the viewing angles, $θ_0=π/2$, and obtained an interesting relation in the case of viewing angle $θ_0=0$ (or equivalently $θ_0=π$). Furthermore we have computed the corresponding equatorial and polar modes and the thermodynamical stability of the quantum deformed Kerr black hole. We also investigate other astrophysical applications such as the quasiperiodic oscillations and the motion of S2 star to constrain the quantum deforming parameter.

Quasiperiodic Oscillations, Quasinormal Modes and Shadows of Bardeen-Kiselev Black Holes

In this article, we study the particle dynamics around a static and spherically symmetric Bardeen-Kiselev black hole (BK BH) which is a solution of the Einstein-non-linear Maxwell field equations along with a quintessential field. We discuss its essential geometrical properties such as scalar invariants and size of innermost stable circular orbits. Dynamics of test particles around the BH is also studied. Moreover, we also computed the fundamental frequencies of a test particle orbiting the BH in a slightly perturbed orbit. Further, the degeneracy relations between the spin of rotating Kerr BH and magnetic charge of the BK BH at the values of the quintessential parameter $ω_q=-1/3$ and in terms of the same values of innermost stable circular orbits (ISCOs) radius, energy efficiency, twin-peaks quasiperiodic oscillations (QPOs) frequencies and impact parameter for photon are also discussed in detail. Finally, we have investigated the relationship between the shadow radius and the real part of the quasinormal mode (QNM) frequency.

Constraining the Generalized Uncertainty Principle Through Black Hole Shadow and Quasiperiodic Oscillations

In this paper we study the effect of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) on the shadow of GUP-modified Kerr black hole and the correspondence between the shadow radius and the real part of the quasinormal modes (QNMs). We find that the shadow curvature radius of the GUP-modfied Kerr black hole is bigger compared to the Kerr vacuum solution and increases linearly monotonically with the increase of the GUP parameter. We then investigate the characteristic points of intrinsic curvature of the shadow from a topological point of view to calculate the the angular size for these curvature radii of the shadow. To this end, we have used the EHT data for the M87* black hole to constrain the upper limits of the GUP parameter red and our result is $β<10^{95}$. Finally, we have explored the connection between the shadow radius and the scalar/electromagnetic/gravitational QNMs. The GUP-modified Kerr black hole is also used to provide perfect curve fitting of the particle oscillation upper and lower frequencies to the observed frequencies for three microquasars and to restrict the values of the correction parameter in the metric of the modified black hole to very reasonable bound $β<10^{77}$.

Accretion on High Derivative Asymptotically Safe Black Holes

Asymptotically safe gravity is one effective approach to quantum gravity. It is important to differentiate the modified gravity inspired by asymptotically safe gravity. In this paper, we examine the matter particles dynamics near the improved version of Schwarzschild black hole. We assume that in the context of asymptotically safe gravity scenario the ambient matter surrounding the black hole is of isothermal in nature and investigate the spherical accretion of matter by deriving solutions at critical points. The analysis for the various values of the state parameter for isothermal test fluids, viz., $k=1,~1/2,~1/3,~1/4$ show the possibility of accretion onto asymptotically safe black hole. We formulate the accretion problem as Hamiltonian dynamical system and explain its phase flow in detail which reveals interesting results in asymptotically safe gravity theory.

Five dimensional charged rotating minimally gauged supergravity black hole cannot be over-spun and/or over-charged in non-linear accretion

Generally black hole could be over charged/spun violating the weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) for linear order accretion while the same is always restored back for non-linear accretion. The only exception however is that of a five dimensional rotating black hole with single rotation that cannot be overspun even at linear order. In this paper we investigate this question for a five dimensional charged rotating minimally gauged supergravity black hole and show that it could not be overspun under non-linear accretion and thereby respecting WCCC. However in the case of single rotation WCCC is however also respected for linear accretion when angular momentum of accreting particle is greater than its charge irrespective of relative dominance of charge and rotation parameters of black hole.

Gyroscope precession frequency analysis of a five dimensional charged rotating Kaluza-Klein black hole

In this paper, we study the spin precession frequency of a test gyroscope attached to a stationary observer in the five dimensional rotating Kaluza-Klein black hole (RKKBH). We derive the conditions under which the test gyroscope moves along a timelike trajectory in this geometry and the regions where the spin precession frequency diverges. The magnitude of the gyroscope precession frequency around KK black hole diverges at two spatial locations outside the event horizon. However in the static case, the behavior of the Lense Thirring frequency of a gyroscope around KK black hole is much like an ordinary Schwarzschild black hole. Since a rotating Kaluza-Klein black hole is a generalization of Kerr-Newman black hole, we present two mass-independent schemes to distinguish these two spacetimes.

Instability and phase transitions of a rotating black hole in the presence of perfect fluid dark matter

In this paper, we study the thermodynamic features of a rotating black hole surrounded by perfect fluid dark matter. We analyze the critical behavior of the black hole by considering the known relationship between pressure and cosmological constant. We show that the black hole admits a first order phase transition and, both rotation and perfect fluid dark matter parameters have a significant impact on the critical quantities. We also introduce a new ad hoc pressure related to the perfect fluid dark matter and find a first order van der Waals like phase transition. In addition, using the sixth order WKB method, we investigate the massless scalar quasinormal modes (QNMs) for the static spherically symmetric black hole surrounded by dark matter. Using the finite difference scheme, the dynamical evolution of the QNMs is also discussed for different values of angular momentum and overtone parameters.

Orbital mechanics and quasiperiodic oscillation resonances of black holes in Einstein-Æther theory

In this paper, we study the motion of test particles around two exact charged black-hole solutions in Einstein-Æther theory. Specifically, we first consider the quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) and their resonances generated by the particle moving in the Einstein-Æther black hole and then turn to study the periodic orbits of the massive particles. For QPOs, we drop the usually adopted assumptions $ν_U=ν_θ$, $ν_L=ν_r$, and $ν_U/ν_L=3/2$ with $ν_U$ ($ν_L$) and $ν_r$ ($ν_θ$) being the upper (lower) frequency of QPOs and radial (vertical) epicyclic frequency of the orbiting particles, respectively. Instead, we put-forward a new working ansatz for which the Keplerian radius is much closer to that of the innermost stable circular orbit and explore in detail the effects of the æther field on the frequencies of QPOs. We then realize good curves for the frequencies of QPOs, which fit to data of three microquasars very well by ignoring any effects of rotation and magnetic fields. The innermost stable circular orbits (isco) of timelike particles are also analyzed and we find the isco radius increases with increasing $c_{13}$ for the first type black hole while decreases with increasing $c_{14}$ for the second one. We also obtain several periodic orbits and find that they share similar taxonomy schemes as the periodic equatorial orbits in the Schwarzschild/Kerr metrics, in addition to exact solutions for certain choices of the Einstein-Æther parameters. The equations for null geodesics are also briefly considered, where we study circular photon orbits and bending angles for gravitational lensing.

Quasinormal modes, quasiperiodic oscillations and shadow of rotating regular black holes in non-minimally coupled Einstein-Yang-Mills theory

In this paper we obtain an effective metric describing a regular and rotating magnetic black hole (BH) solution with a Yang-Mills electromagnetic source in Einstein-Yang-Mills (EYM) theory using the Newman--Janis algorithm via the non-complexification radial coordinate procedure. We then study the BH shadow and the quasinormal modes (QNMs) for massless scalar and electromagnetic fields and the quasiperiodic oscillations (QPOs). To this end, we also study the embedding diagram for the rotating EYM BH. The energy conditions, shadow curvature radius, topology and the dynamical evolution of scalar and electromagnetic perturbations using the time domain integration method are investigated. We show that the shadow radius decreases by increasing the magnetic charge, while the real part of QNMs of scalar and electromagnetic fields increases by increasing the magnetic charge. This result is consistent with the inverse relation between the shadow radius and the real part of QNMs. In addition, we have studied observational constraints on the EYM parameter $λ$ via frequency analysis of QPOs and the EHT data of shadow cast by the M87 central black hole. We also find that the decaying rate of the EYM BH is slower than that of the neutral and ends up with a tail. We argue that the rotating EYM black hole can be distinguished from the Kerr-Newman black hole with a magnetic charge based on the difference between the angular diameters of their shadows.

Rotating regular black holes in conformal massive gravity

In this paper, we use a suitable conformal rescaling to construct static and rotating regular black holes in conformal massive gravity. The new metric is characterized by the mass $M$, the "scalar charge" $Q$, the angular momentum parameter $a$, the "hair parameter" $λ$, and the conformal scale factor encoded in the parameter $L$. We explore the shadow images and the deflection angles of relativistic massive particles in the spacetime geometry of a rotating regular black hole. For $λ\neq 0$ and $Q > 0$, the shadow is larger than the shadow of a Kerr black hole. In particular, if $λ< 0$, the shadow radius increases considerably. For $λ\neq 0$ and $Q < 0$, the shadow is smaller than the shadow of a Kerr black hole. Additionally we put observational constraints on the parameter $ Q $ using the latest Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) observation of the supermassive black hole M87*. Lastly, using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, we show that the deflection angle of massive particles is strongly affected by the parameter $L$. The deflection angle might be used to distinguish rotating regular black holes from rotating singular black holes.

Shadow Images of a Rotating Dyonic Black Hole with a Global Monopole Surrounded by Perfect Fluid

In this paper we revisit and extend the prior work of Filho and Bezerra [Phys. Rev D, 64, 084009 (2001)] to rotating dyonic global monopoles in presence of a perfect fluid. We then show that the surface topology at the event horizon, related to the metric computed, is a 2- sphere using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. By choosing $ω=-1/3, 0, 1/3$ we investigate the effect of dark matter, dust, radiation on the silhouette of black hole. The presence of the global monopole parameter $γ$ and the perfect fluid parameters $\upsilon$, also deforms the shape of black hole's shadow, which has been depicted through graphical illustrations. In the end we analyse energy emission rate of rotating dyonic global monopole surrounded by perfect fluid with respect to parameters.

Shadows of Sgr A$^*$ Black Hole Surrounded by Superfluid Dark Matter Halo

In this paper we construct a black hole solution surrounded by superfluid dark matter (BH-SFDM) and baryonic matter, and study their effects on the shadow images of the Sgr A$^{*}$ black hole. To achieve this goal, we have considered two density profiles for the baryonic matter described by the spherical exponential profile and the power law profile including a special case describing a totally dominated dark matter galaxy (TDDMG). Using the present values for the parameters of the superfluid dark matter and baryonic density profiles for the Sgr A$^{*}$ black hole, we find that the effects of the superfluid dark matter and baryonic matter on the size of shadows are almost negligible compared to the Kerr vacuum black hole. In addition, we find that by increasing the baryonic mass the shadow size increases considerably. This result can be linked to the matter distribution in the galaxy, namely the baryonic matter is mostly located in the galactic center and therefore, by increasing the baryonic matter can affect the size of black hole shadow compared to the totally dominated dark matter galaxy where we observe an increase of the angular diameter of the Sgr A$^{*}$ black hole of the magnitude $10^{-5} μ$arcsec.

Spherical Accretion Flow onto General Parameterized Spherically Symmetric Black Hole Spacetimes

The transonic phenomenon of black hole accretion and the existence of the photon sphere are the characteristics of strong gravitational fields near a black hole horizon. In this work, we study spherical accretion flow onto a general parametrized spherically symmetric black hole spacetimes. For this purpose, we analyze the accretion process of various perfect fluids, such as the isothermal fluid of ultra-stiff, ultra-relativistic, and sub-relativistic types and polytropic fluid, respectively. The influences of extra parameters beyond the Schwarzschild black hole in the general parameterized spherically symmetric black hole on the flow behaviors of the above-mentioned test fluids are studied in detail. In addition, by studying the accretion of ideal photon gas, we further discuss the correspondence between the sonic radius of accreting photon gas and the photon sphere for the general parameterized spherically symmetric black hole. Some possible future extensions of our analysis are also discussed.

Testing Cosmic Censorship Conjecture for Extremal and Near-extremal (2+1)-dimensional MTZ Black Holes

We test the validity of the weak cosmic censorship conjecture for the ($2+1$)-dimensional charged anti-de Sitter black hole solution, which was derived by Martinez, Teitelboim, and Zanelli (MTZ). We first construct a thought experiment by throwing test charged particles on an extremal MTZ black hole. We derive that extremal ($2+1$) dimensional black holes can be overcharged by test particles, unlike their analogues in $4$ and higher dimensions. Nearly-extremal black holes can also be overcharged, by a judicious choice of energy and charge for the test particles in the case when we ignore the second order effects. Contrary to this, nearly-extremal black holes cannot be overcharged by the second order perturbation, obeying the weak cosmic censorship conjecture.

Traversable Wormholes Supported by GUP Corrected Casimir Energy

In this paper, we investigate the effect of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) in the Casimir wormhole spacetime recently proposed by Garattini [Eur. Phys. J. C (2019) 79: 951]. In particular, we consider three types of the GUP relations, firstly the Kempf, Mangano and Mann (KMM) model, secondly the Detournay, Gabriel and Spindel (DGS) model, and finally the so called type II model for GUP principle. To this end, we consider three specific models of the redshift function along with two different EoS of state given by $\mathcal{P}_r(r)=ω_r(r) ρ(r)$ along with $\mathcal{P}_t(r)=ω_t (r)\mathcal{P}_r(r)$ and obtain a class of asymptotically flat wormhole solutions supported by Casimir energy under the effect of GUP. Furthermore we check the null, weak, and strong condition at the wormhole throat with a radius $r_0$, and show that in general the classical energy condition are violated by some arbitrary quantity at the wormhole throat. Importantly, we examine the wormhole geometry with semi-classical corrections via embedding diagrams. We also consider the ADM mass of the wormhole, the volume integral quantifier to calculate the amount of the exotic matter near the wormhole throat, and the deflection angle of light.

X-ray reflection spectroscopy with Kaluza-Klein black holes

Kaluza-Klein theory is a popular alternative theory of gravity, with both non-rotating and rotating black hole solutions known. This allows for the possibility that the theory could be observationally tested. We present a model which calculates the reflection spectrum of a black hole accretion disk system, where the black hole is described by a rotating solution of the Kaluza-Klein theory. We also use this model to analyze X-ray data from the stella-mass black hole in GRS 1915+105 and provide constraints on the free parameters of the Kaluza-Klein black holes.

Alternative approach to thermodynamic phase transitions

One of the major open problems in theoretical physics is a consistent quantum gravity theory.Recent developments in thermodynamic phase transitions ofblack holes and their van der Waals-like behavior may provide an interesting quantum interpretation of classical gravity. Studyingdifferent methods of investigating phase transitions can extend our insight into the nature of quantumgravity. In this paper, we present an alternative theoretical approach for finding thermodynamicphase transitions in the extended phase space. Unlike the standard methods based on the usualequation of state involving temperature, our approach usesa new quasi-equation constructed fromthe slope of temperature versus entropy. This approach addresses some of the shortcomings ofthe other methods, and provides a simple and powerful way of studying the critical behavior of athermodynamical system. Among the applications of this approach, we emphasize the analyticaldemonstration of possible phase transition points, and theidentification of the non-physical rangeof horizon radii for black holes.

Accretion on Reissner-Nordstrom-(anti)-de Sitter Black Hole with Global Monopole

In this paper, we investigate the accretion on the Reissner-Nordström anti-de-Sitter black hole with global monopole charge. We discuss the general solutions of accretion using the isothermal and polytropic equations of state for steady state, spherically symmetric, non-rotating accretion on the black hole. In the case of isothermal flow, we consider some specific fluids and derive their solutions at the sonic point as well. However, in case of polytropic fluid we calculate the general expressions only, as there exists no global (Bondi) solutions for polytropic test fluids. In addition to this, the effect of fluid on the mass accretion rate are also studied. Moreover, the large monopole parameter $β$ greatly suppresses the maximum accretion rate.

Astrophysical flows near $f(T)$ gravity black holes

In this paper, we study the accretion process for fluids flowing near a black hole in the context of $f(T)$ teleparallel gravity. Specifically, by performing a dynamical analysis by a Hamiltonian system, we are able to find the sonic points. After that, we consider different isothermal test fluids in order to study the accretion process when they are falling onto the black hole. We found that these flows can be classified according to the equation of state and the black hole features. Results are compared in $f(T)$ and $f(R)$ gravity.

Cosmological wormholes in $f(R)$ theories of gravity

Motivated by recent proposals of possible wormhole existence in galactic halos, we analyse the cosmological evolution of wormhole solutions in modified $f(R)$ gravity. We construct a dynamical wormhole that asymptotically approaches FLRW universe, with supporting material going to the perfect isotropic fluid described by the equation of state for radiation and matter dominated universe respectively. Our analysis is based on an approximation of a small wormhole - a wormhole that can be treated as matched with the FLRW metric at some radial coordinate much smaller than the Hubble radius, so that cosmological boundary conditions are satisfied. With a special interest in viable wormhole solutions, we refer to the results of reconstruction procedure and use $f(R)$ functions which lead to the experimentally confirmed $Λ$CDM expansion history of the Universe. Solutions we find imply no need for exotic matter near the throat of considered wormholes, while in the limit of $f(R)=R$ this need is always present during radiation and matter dominated epoch.

Cyclic and heteroclinic flows near general static spherically symmetric black holes

We investigate the Michel-type accretion onto a static spherically symmetric black hole. Using a Hamiltonian dynamical approach, we show that the standard method employed for tackling the accretion problem has masked some properties of the fluid flow. We determine new analytical solutions that are neither transonic nor supersonic as the fluid approaches the horizon(s); rather, they remain subsonic for all values of the radial coordinate. Moreover, the three velocity vanishes and the pressure diverges on the horizon(s), resulting in a flowout of the fluid under the effect of its own pressure. This is in favor of an earlier prediction that pressure-dominant regions form near the horizon. This result does not depend on the form of the metric and it applies to a neighborhood of any horizon where the time coordinate is timelike. For anti-de Sitter-like $\text{f}(R)$ black holes we discuss the stability of the critical flow and determine separatrix heteroclinic orbits. For de Sitter-like $\text{f}(R)$ black holes, we construct polytropic cyclic, non-homoclinic, physical flows connecting the two horizons. These flows become non-relativistic for Hamiltonian values higher than the critical value allowing for a good estimate of the proper period of the flow.

Dynamics of Particles Around a Regular Black Hole with Nonlinear Electrodynamics

We investigate the dynamics of a charged particle being kicked off from its circular orbit around a regular black hole by an incoming massive particle in the presence of magnetic field. The resulting escape velocity, escape energy and the effective potential is analyzed. It is shown that the presence of even a very weak magnetic field helps the charged particles in escaping the gravitational field of the black hole. Moreover the effective force acting on the particle visibly reduces with distance. Thus particle near the black hole will experience higher effective force as compared to when it is far away.

Geometrical parameters including shape and redshift functions are obtained for these solutions. Furthermore by imposing specific forms of potential function, we are able to calculate metric coefficients and discuss their geometrical behavior.

After that, we examine the accretion process for specific spherically symmetric metrics obtaining the velocity of the sound during the process and the critical speed of the flow of the fluid around the black hole. Center of Mass Energy of the Collision for Two General Geodesic Particles Around a Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT Black Hole

In this paper, we investigate the center of mass energy of the collision for two neutral particles with different rest masses falling freely from rest at infinity in the background of a Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT black hole. Further, we discuss the center of mass energy near the horizon(s) of an extremal and non-extremal Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT black hole and show that an arbitrarily high center of mass energy is achievable under some restrictions. Dynamics of Particles Around a Schwarzschild-like Black Hole in the Presence of Quintessence and Magnetic Field

We investigate the dynamics of a neutral and a charged particle around a static and spherically symmetric black hole in the presence of quintessence matter and external magnetic field. We explore the conditions under which the particle moving around the black hole could escape to infinity after colliding with another particle. The innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) for the particles are studied in detail. Mainly the dependence of ISCO on dark energy and on the presence of external magnetic field in the vicinity of black hole is discussed. By using the Lyapunov exponent, we compare the stabilities of the orbits of the particles in the presence and absence of dark energy and magnetic field. The expressions for the center of mass energies of the colliding particles near the horizon of the black hole are derived. The effective force on the particles due to dark energy and magnetic field in the vicinity of black hole is also discussed.

Particle Dynamics Around Weakly Magnetized Reissner-Nordström Black Hole

Considering the geometry of Reissner-Nordström (RN) black hole immersed in magnetic field we have studied the dynamics of neutral and charged particles. A collision of particles in the inner stable circular orbit is considered and the conditions for the escape of colliding particles from the vicinity of black hole are given. The trajectories of the escaping particle are discussed. Also the velocity required for this escape is calculated. It is observed that there are more than one stable regions if magnetic field is present in the accretion disk of black hole so the stability of ISCO increases in the presence of magnetic field. Effect of magnetic field on the angular motion of neutral and charged particles is observed graphically.

Strong Gravitational Lensing by Kiselev Black Hole

We investigate the gravitational lensing scenario due to Schwarzschild-like black hole surrounded by quintessence (Kiselev black hole). We work for the special case of Kiselev black hole where we take the state parameter $w_{q}=-\frac{2}{3}$. For the detailed derivation and analysis of the bending angle involved in the deflection of light, we discuss three special cases of Kiselev black hole: non-extreme, extreme and naked singularity. We also calculate the approximate bending angle and compare it with exact bending angle. We found the relation of bending angles in the decreasing order as: naked singularity, extreme Kiselev black hole, non-extreme Kiselev black hole and Schwarzschild black hole. In the weak field approximation, we compute the position and total magnification of relativistic images as well.

Thermodynamic Relations for Kiselev and Dilaton Black Hole

We investigate the thermodynamics and phase transition for Kiselev black hole and dilaton black hole. Specifically we consider Reissner Nordstrom black hole surrounded by radiation and dust, and Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by quintessence, as special cases of Kiselev solution. We have calculated the products relating the surface gravities, surface temperatures, Komar energies, areas, entropies, horizon radii and the irreducible masses at the Cauchy and the event horizons. It is observed that the product of surface gravities, surface temperature product and product of Komar energies at the horizons are not universal quantities for the Kiselev solutions while products of areas and entropies at both the horizons are independent of mass of the above mentioned black holes (except for Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by quintessence). For charged dilaton black hole, all the products vanish. First law of thermodynamics is also verified for Kiselev solutions. Heat capacities are calculated and phase transitions are observed, under certain conditions.

Timelike geodesics of a modified gravity black hole immersed in an axially symmetric magnetic field

We investigate the dynamics of a neutral and a charged particle around a black hole in modified gravity immersed in magnetic field. Our focus is on the scalar-tensor-vector theory as modified gravity. We are interested to explore the conditions on the energy of the particle under which it can escape to infinity after collision with another neutral particle in the vicinity of the black hole. We calculate escape velocity of particle orbiting in the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) after the collision. We study the effects of modified gravity on the dynamics of particles. Further we discuss how the presence of magnetic field in the vicinity of black hole, effects the motion of the orbiting particle. We show that the stability of ISCO increases due to presence of magnetic field. It is observed that a particle can go arbitrary close to the black hole due to presence of magnetic field. Furthermore ISCO for black hole is more stable as compared with Schwarzschild black hole. We also discuss the Lyapunov exponent and the effective force acting on the particle in the presence of magnetic field.

A Slowly Rotating Black Hole in Horava-Lifshitz Gravity and a 3+1 Dimensional Topological Black Hole: Motion of Particles and BSW Mechanism

The motion of a neutral particle in the vicinity of a slowly rotating black hole in the Horava-Lifshitz theory of gravity and 3+1 dimensional topological Lifshitz black hole is investigated. Geodesics for radial motion of the particles are also plotted. Some different cases of the orbital motion of the particle are discussed where maximum and minimum values of the effective potential are calculated. Further the Bañados, Silk and West (BSW) mechanism is studied for these black holes. It is shown that the centre-of-mass energy (CME) of two colliding uncharged particles at the horizon of these black holes remains finite. Thus the BSW effect cannot be seen in these cases.

Dynamics of a Charged Particle Around a Slowly Rotating Kerr Black Hole Immersed in Magnetic Field

The dynamics of a charged particle moving around a slowly rotating Kerr black hole in the presence of an external magnetic field is investigated. We are interested to explore the conditions under which the charged particle can escape from the gravitational field of the black hole after colliding with another particle. The escape velocity of the charged particle in the innermost stable circular orbit is calculated. The effective potential and escape velocity of the charged particle with angular momentum in the presence of magnetic field is analyzed. This work serves as an extension of a preceding paper dealing with the Schwarzschild black hole [Zahrani {\it et al}, Phys. Rev. D 87, 084043 (2013)].

Nonommutative wormholes in $f(R)$ gravity

This paper discusses several new exact solutions of static wormholes in $f(R)$ gravity with a noncommutative-geometry background, which replaces point-like structures by smeared objects. In the first part of the paper we assume the power-law form $f(R)=aR^n$ and discuss several solutions corresponding to different values of the exponent. The second part of the paper assumes a particular form of the shape function that also yields a viable solution. This investigation generalizes some of our previous work in $f(R)$ gravity, as well as in noncommutative geometry.

Observational constraints on non-minimally coupled Galileon model

As an extension of Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati (DGP) model, the Galileon theory has been proposed to explain the "self-accelerating problem" and "ghost instability problem". In this Paper, we extend the Galileon theory by considering a non-minimally coupled Galileon scalar with gravity. The statefinder analysis, $Om(z)$ diagnostic and constraint the model parameters have been investigate , we find $Ω_\text{m0}=0.263_{-0.031}^{+0.031}$, $n=1.53_{-0.37}^{+0.21}$ (at the $95\%$ confidence level) with $χ^2_{\text{min}}=473.376$. Further we show that due to the SNe Ia + BAO data ,our model behaves like a phantom-like dark energy.

Warm Intermediate Inflation in $F(T)$ Gravity

We investigate warm intermediate scenario of the cosmological inflation in $F(T)$ gravity in the limit of high dissipation. The inflationary expansion is driven by the scalar inflaton while the gravitational dynamics follow from the $F(T)$ gravity. We calculate the relevant inflationary observables such as scalar-tensor ratio, power-spectrum indices of density perturbations and gravitational waves and the e-folding parameter. We obtain a ratio of slow-roll parameters to be constant. Our calculations support the warm-intermediate inflationary scenario in a spacetime with torsion. Moreover our results are compatible with the astrophysical observations of cosmic microwave background and Planck data.

Noether gauge symmetry approach in quintom cosmology

In literature usual point like symmetries of the Lagrangian have been introduced to study the symmetries and the structure of the fields. This kind of Noether symmetry is a subclass of a more general family of symmetries, called Noether Gauge Symmetries (NGS). Motivated by this mathematical tool, in this article, we discuss the generalized Noether symmetry of Quintom model of dark energy, which is a two component fluid model of quintessence and phantom fields. Our model is a generalization of the Noether symmetries of a single and multiple components which have been investigated in detail before. We found the general form of the quintom potential in which the whole dynamical system has a point like symmetry. We investigated different possible solutions of the system for diverse family of gauge function. Specially, we discovered two family of potentials, one corresponds to a free quintessence (phantom) and the second is in the form of quadratic interaction between two components. These two families of potential functions are proposed from the symmetry point of view, but in the quintom models they are used as phenomenological models without clear mathematical justification. From integrability point of view, we found two forms of the scale factor: one is power law and second is de-Sitter. Some cosmological implications of the solutions have been investigated

Noether gauge symmetry for the Bianchi type I model in f(T) gravity

In this paper, we present the Noether symmetries of a class of the Bianchi type I anisotropic model in the context of f(T) gravity. By solving the system of equations obtained from the Noether symmetry condition, we obtain the form of f(T) as a teleparallel form. This analysis shows that teleparallel gravity has the maximum number of Noether symmetries. We derive the symmetry generators and show that there are five kinds of symmetries, including time and scale invariance under metric coefficients. We classify the symmetries and we obtain the corresponding invariants.

Noncommutative Wormholes in $f(R)$ Gravity with Lorentzian Distribution

In this paper, we derive some new exact solutions of static wormholes in $f(R)$ gravity supported by the matter possesses Lorentizian density distribution of a particle-like gravitational source. We derive the wormhole's solutions in two possible schemes for a given Lorentzian distribution: assuming an astrophysically viable $F(R)$ function such as a power-law form and discuss several solutions corresponding to different values of the exponent (here $F =\frac{df}{dR}$). In the second scheme, we consider particular form of two shape functions and have reconstructed f(R) in both cases. We have discussed all the solutions with graphical point of view.

Reconstruction of f(T) and f(R) gravity according to (m,n)-type holographic dark energy

Motivated by earlier works on reconstruction of modified gravity models with dark energy components, we extend them by considering a newly proposed model of (m, n)- type of holographic dark energy for two models of modified gravity, f(R) and f(T) theories, where R and T represent Ricci scalar and torsion scalar respectively. Specifically we reconstruct the two later gravity models and discuss their viability and cosmography. The obtained gravity models are ghost free, compatible with local solar system tests and describe effective positive gravitational constant.

Attractor Solutions in f(T) Cosmology

In this paper, we explore the cosmological implications of interacting dark energy model in a torsion based gravity namely $f(T)$. Assuming dark energy interacts with dark matter and radiation components, we examine the stability of this model by choosing different forms of interaction terms. We consider three different forms of dark energy: cosmological constant, quintessence and phantom energy. We then obtain several attractor solutions for each dark energy model interacting with other components. This model successfully explains the coincidence problem via the interacting dark energy scenario.

In this paper, we investigate the generalized Saez-Ballester scalar-tensor theory of gravity via Noether gauge symmetry (NGS) in the background of Bianchi type I cosmological spacetime. We start with the Lagrangian of our model and calculate its gauge symmetries and corresponding invariant quantities. We obtain the potential function for the scalar field in the exponential form. We discuss cosmological implications of our model and show that it is compatible with the observational data.

Entropy-corrected new agegraphic dark energy in Horava-Lifshitz cosmology

We study the entropy-corrected version of the new agegraphic dark energy (NADE) model and dark matter in a spatially non-flat Universe and in the framework of Hořava-Lifshitz cosmology. For the two cases containing noninteracting and interacting entropy-corrected NADE (ECNADE) models, we derive the exact differential equation that determines the evolution of the ECNADE density parameter. Also the deceleration parameter is obtained. Furthermore, using a parametrization of the equation of state parameter of the ECNADE model as $ω_Λ(z)=ω_0+ω_1 z$, we obtain both $ω_0$ and $ω_1$. We find that in the presence of interaction, the equation of state parameter $ω_0$ of this model can cross the phantom divide line which is compatible with the observation.

Generalized Second Law of Thermodynamics for FRW Cosmology with Power-Law Entropy Correction

In this work, we have considered the power law correction of entropy on the horizon. If the flat FRW Universe is filled with the n components fluid with interactions, the GSL of thermodynamics for apparent and event horizons have been investigated for equilibrium and non-equilibrium cases. If we consider a small perturbation around the de Sitter space-time, the general conditions of the validity of GSL have been found. Also if a phantom dominated Universe has a polelike type scale factor, the validity of GSL has also been analyzed. Further we have obtained constraints on the power-law parameter α in the phantom and quintessence dominated regimes. Finally we obtain conditions under which GSL breaks down in a cosmological background.

We study the generalized second law (GSL) of thermodynamics in $f(T)$ cosmology. We consider the universe as a closed bounded system filled with $n$ component fluids in the thermal equilibrium with the cosmological boundary. We use two different cosmic horizons: the future event horizon and the apparent horizon. We show the conditions under which the GSL will be valid in specific scenarios of the quintessence and the phantom energy dominated eras. Further we associate two different entropies with the cosmological horizons: with a logarithmic correction term and a power-law correction term. We also find the conditions for the GSL to be satisfied or violated by imposing constraints on model parameters.

Interacting Ricci Dark Energy with Logarithmic Correction

Motivated by the holographic principle, it has been suggested that the dark energy density may be inversely proportional to the area $A$ of the event horizon of the universe. However, such a model would have a causality problem. In this work, we consider the entropy-corrected version of the holographic dark energy model in the non-flat FRW universe and we propose to replace the future event horizon area with the inverse of the Ricci scalar curvature. We obtain the equation of state (EoS) parameter $ω_Λ$, the deceleration parameter $q$ and $Ω_D'$ in the presence of interaction between Dark Energy (DE) and Dark Matter (DM). Moreover, we reconstruct the potential and the dynamics of the tachyon, K-essence, dilaton and quintessence scalar field models according to the evolutionary behavior of the interacting entropy-corrected holographic dark energy model.

Noether Gauge Symmetry of Modified Teleparallel Gravity Minimally Coupled with a Canonical Scalar Field

This paper is devoted to the study of Noether gauge symmetries of $f(T)$ gravity minimally coupled with a canonical scalar field. We explicitly determine the unknown functions of the theory $f(T),V(ϕ), W(ϕ)$. We have shown that there are two invariants for this model, one of which defines the Hamiltonian $H$ under time invariance (energy conservation) and the other is related to scaling invariance. We show that the equation of state parameter in the present model can cross the cosmological constant boundary. The behavior of Hubble parameter in our model closely matches to that of $Λ$CDM model, thus our model is an alternative to the later.

Two special cases for dark energy are considered including phantom energy and quintessence. Phase space analysis of interacting dark energy in f(T) cosmology

In this paper, we examine the interacting dark energy model in $f(T)$ cosmology. We assume dark energy as a perfect fluid and choose a specific cosmologically viable form $f(T)= β\sqrt{T} $. We show that there is one attractor solution to the dynamical equation of $f(T)$ Friedmann equations. Further we investigate the stability in phase space for a general $f(T)$ model with two interacting fluids. By studying the local stability near the critical points, we show that the critical points lie on the sheet $u^*=(c-1)v^*$ in the phase space, spanned by coordinates $(u,v,Ω,T)$. From this critical sheet, we conclude that the coupling between the dark energy and matter $c\in (-2,0)$.

Power Law Entropy Corrected New-Agegraphic Dark Energy in Hořava-Lifshitz Cosmology

We investigate the new agegraphic dark energy (NADE) model with power-law corrected entropy in the framework of Hořava-Lifshitz cosmology. For a non-flat universe containing the interacting power-law entropy-corrected NADE (PLECNADE) with dark matter, we obtain the differential equation of the evolution of density parameter as well as the deceleration parameter. To study parametric behavior, we used an interesting form of state parameter as function of redshift $ω_Λ(z)=ω_0+ω_1 z$. We found that phantom crossing occurs for the state parameter for a non-zero coupling parameter, thus supporting interacting dark energy model.

Power-Law Entropy Corrected Ricci Dark Energy and Dynamics of Scalar Fields

Motivated by the holographic principle, it has been suggested that the Dark Energy (DE) density can be inversely proportional to the area $A$ of the event horizon of the universe. However, this kind of model would have a casuality problem. In this work, we study the power-law entropy corrected holographic DE (PLECHDE) model in the non-flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe, with the future event horizon replaced by the average radius of the Ricci scalar curvature. We derive the equation of state parameter $ω_Λ$, the deceleration parameter $q$ and the evolution of energy density parameter $Ω_D'$ in presence of interaction between DE and Dark Matter (DM). We consider the correspondence between our Ricci-PLECHDE model and the Modified Chaplygin Gas (MCG) and the tachyon, K-essence, dilaton and quintessence scalar fields. Stability of a non-minimally conformally coupled scalar field in F(T) cosmology

In this paper, we introduce a non-minimally conformally coupled scalar field and dark matter in F(T) cosmology and study their dynamics. We investigate the stability and phase space behavior of the parameters of the scalar field by choosing an exponential potential and cosmologically viable form of F(T). We found that the dynamical system of equations admits two unstable critical points; thus no attractor solutions exist in this cosmology. Furthermore, taking into account the scalar field mimicking quintessence and phantom energy, we discuss the corresponding cosmic evolution for both small and large times. We investigate the cosmological implications of the model via the equation of state and deceleration parameters of our model and show that the late-time Universe will be dominated by phantom energy and, moreover, phantom crossing is possible. Our results do not lead to explicit predictions for inflation and the early Universe era.

Statefinder Analysis of f(T) Cosmology

In this paper, we intend to evaluate and analyze the statefinder parameters in $f(T)$ cosmology. Friedmann equation in $f(T)$ model is taken, and the statefinder parameters ${r,s}$ are calculated. We consider a model of $f(T)$ which contains a constant, linear and non-linear form of torsion. We plot $r$ and $s$ in order to characterize this model in the ${r,s}$ plane. Thermodynamics of a Schwarzschild Black Hole in Phantom Cosmology with Entropy Corrections

Motivated by some earlier works \cite{pavon,sadjadi} dealing with the study of generalized second law (GSL) of thermodynamics for a system comprising of a Schwarzschild black accreting a test non-self-gravitating fluid namely phantom energy in FRW universe, we extend them when the entropy of horizons of black hole and the cosmological undergo quantum corrections. Two types of such corrections are relevant here including logarithmic and power-law, while both are motivated from different theoretical backgrounds. We obtain general mathematical conditions for the validity of GSL in each case. Further we find that GSL restricts the mass of black hole for accretion of phantom energy. As such we obtain upper bounds on the mass of black hole above which the black hole cannot accrete the phantom fluid, otherwise the GSL is violated.

Thermodynamics of an Evolving Lorentzian Wormhole with Entropy Corrections

In this work, we study the generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSL) at the apparent horizon of an evolving Lorentzian wormhole. We obtain the expressions of thermal variables at the apparent horizon. Choosing the two well-known entropy functions i.e. power-law and logarithmic, we obtain the expressions of GSL. We have analyzed the GSL using a power-law form of scale factor $a(t)=a_0t^n$ and the special form of shape function $b(r)=\frac{b_{0}}{r}$. It is shown that GSL is valid in the evolving wormhole spacetime for both choices of entropies if the power-law exponent is small, but for large values of $n$, the GSL is satisfied at initial stage and after certain stage of the evolution of the wormhole, it violates.

Thermodynamics of Evolving Lorentzian Wormhole at Apparent and Event Horizons

We have investigated the non-static Lorentzian Wormhole model in presence of anisotropic pressure. We have presented some exact solutions of Einstein equations for anisotropic pressure case. Introducing two EoS parameters we have shown that these solutions give very rich dynamics of the universe yielding to the different expansion history of it in the $r$ - direction and in the $T$ - direction. The corresponding explicit forms of the shape function $b(r)$ is presented. We have shown that the Einstein's field equations and unified first law are equivalent for the dynamical wormhole model. The first law of thermodynamics has been derived by using the Unified first law. The physical quantities including surface gravity and the temperature are derived for the wormhole. Effect of Vacuum Energy on Evolution of Primordial Black Holes in Einstein Gravity

We study the evolution of primordail black holes by considering present universe is no more matter dominated rather vacuum energy dominated. We also consider the accretion of radiation, matter and vacuum energy during respective dominance period. In this scenario, we found that radiation accretion efficiency should be less than 0.366 and accretion rate is much larger than previous analysis by B. Nayak et al. \cite{ns}. Thus here primordial black holes live longer than previous works \cite{ns}. Again matter accretion slightly increases the mass and lifetime of primordial black holes. However, the vacuum energy accretion is slightly complicated one, where accretion is possible only upto a critical time. This critical time depends on the values of accretion efficiency and formation time. If a primordial black hole lives beyond critical time, then its lifespan increases due to vacuum energy accretion. But for presently evaporating primordial black holes, critical time comes much later than their evaporating time and thus vacuum energy could not affect those primordial black holes. We again found that the constraints on the initial mass fraction of PBH obtained from the $γ$-ray background limit becomes stronger in the presence of vacuum energy.

Fractional Action Cosmology: Emergent, Logamediate, Intermediate, Power law Scenarios of the Universe and Generalized Second Law of Thermodynamics

In the framework of Fractional Action Cosmology (FAC), we study the generalized second law of thermodynamics for the Friedmann Universe enclosed by a boundary. We use the four well-known cosmic horizons as boundaries namely, apparent horizon, future event horizon, Hubble horizon and particle horizon. We construct the generalized second law (GSL) using and without using the first law of thermodynamics. To check the validity of GSL, we express the law in the form of four different scale factors namely emergent, logamediate, intermediate and power law. For Hubble, apparent and particle horizons, the GSL holds for emergent and logamediate expansions of the universe when we apply with and without using first law. For intermediate scenario, the GSL is valid for Hubble, apparent, particle horizons when we apply with and without first law. Also for intermediate scenario, the GSL is valid for event horizon when we apply first law but it breaks down without using first law. But for power law expansion, the GSL may be valid for some cases and breaks down otherwise.

Indeed, the power-law corrections to entropy appear in dealing with the entanglement of quantum fields in and out the horizon. Inspired by the power-law corrected entropy, we propose the so-called "power-law entropy-corrected holographic dark energy" (PLECHDE) in this Letter. We investigate the cosmological implications of this model and calculate some relevant cosmological parameters and their evolution. We also briefly study the so-called "power-law entropy-corrected agegraphic dark energy" (PLECADE).

Power-law entropy-corrected HDE and NADE in Brans-Dicke cosmology

Considering the power-law corrections to the black hole entropy, which appear in dealing with the entanglement of quantum fields inside and outside the horizon, the holographic energy density is modified accordingly. In this paper we study the power-law entropy-corrected holographic dark energy in the framework of Brans-Dicke theory. We investigate the cosmological implications of this model in detail. We also perform the study for the new agegraphic dark energy model and calculate some relevant cosmological parameters and their evolution. {As a result we find that this model can provide the present cosmic acceleration and even the equation of state parameter of this model can cross the phantom line $w_D=-1$ provided the model parameters are chosen suitably}.

Reconstructing interacting entropy-corrected holographic scalar field models of dark energy in non-flat universe

Here we consider the entropy-corrected version of the holographic dark energy model in the non-flat universe. We obtain the equation of state parameter in the presence of interaction between dark energy and dark matter. Moreover, we reconstruct the potential and the dynamics of the quintessence, tachyon, K-essence and dilaton scalar field models according to the evolutionary behavior of the interacting entropy-corrected holographic dark energy model.

Statefinder Parameter for Varying G in Three Fluid System

In this work, we have considered variable G in flat FRW universe filled with the mixture of dark energy, dark matter and radiation. If there is no interaction between the three fluids, the deceleration parameter and statefinder parameters have been calculated in terms of dimensionless density parameters which can be fixed by observational data. Also the interaction between three fluids has been analyzed due to constant $G$. The statefinder parameters also calculated in two cases: pressure is constant and pressure is variable.

Thermodynamical description of interacting entropy-corrected new agegraphic dark energy

To explain the accelerating universe driven by dark energy, a so-called "entropy-corrected new agegraphic dark energy" (ECNADE), was recently proposed with the help of quantum corrections to the entropy-area relation in the framework of loop quantum cosmology. Using this definition, we study its thermodynamical features including entropy and energy conservation. We discuss the thermodynamical interpretation of the interaction between ECNADE and dark matter in a non-flat universe bounded by the apparent horizon. We obtain a relation between the interaction term of the dark components and thermal fluctuation.

Thermodynamics of phantom energy in the presence of a Reissner-Nordstrom black hole

In this paper, we study the validity of the generalized second law (GSL) in phantom dominated universe in the presence of a Reissner-Nordström (RN) black hole. Our study is independent of the origin of the phantom like behavior of the considered universe. We also discuss the GSL in the neighborhood of transition from quintessence to phantom regime. We show that for a constant equation of state parameter, the GSL may be satisfied provided that the temperature is proportional to de Sitter temperature. It is shown that in models with (only) a transition from quintessence to phantom regime the generalized second law does not hold in the transition epoch. Next we show that if the phantom energy has a chemical potential, then the GSL will hold if the mass of black hole is above from a critical value.

Correspondence between entropy-corrected holographic and Gauss-Bonnet dark energy models

In the present work we investigate the cosmological implications of the entropy-corrected holographic dark energy (ECHDE) density in the Gauss-Bonnet framework. This is motivated from the loop quantum gravity corrections to the entropy-area law. Assuming the two cosmological scenarios are valid simultaneously, we show that there is a correspondence between the ECHDE scenario in flat universe and the phantom dark energy model in the framework of Gauss-Bonnet theory with a potential. This correspondence leads consistently to an accelerating universe.

Dynamics and Thermodynamics of (2+1)-Dimensional Evolving Lorentzian Wormhole

In this paper we study the relationship between the Einstein field equations for the (2+1)-dimensional evolving wormhole and the first law of thermodynamics. It has been shown that the Einstein field equations can be rewritten as a similar form of the first law of thermodynamics at the dynamical trapping horizon (as proposed by Hayward) for the dynamical spacetime which describes intrinsic thermal properties associated with the trapping horizon. For a particular choice of the shape and potential functions we are able to express field equations as a similar form of first law of thermodynamics $dE=-TdS+WdA$ at the trapping horizons. Here $E=ρA$, $T=-κ/2π$, $S=4π\tilde{r}_{A}$, $W=(ρ-p)/2$%, and $A=π\tilde{r}_{A}^{2}$, are the total matter energy, horizon temperature, wormhole entropy, work density and volume of the evolving wormhole respectively.

FRW Cosmology with Variable G and Lambda

We have considered a cosmological model of the FRW universe with variable $G$ and $Λ$. The solutions have been obtained for flat model with particular form of cosmological constant. The cosmological parameters have also been obtained for dust, radiation and stiff matter. The statefinder parameters are analyzed and have shown that these depends only on $w$ and $ε$. Further the lookback time, proper distance, luminosity distance and angular diameter distance have also been calculated for our model.

Generalized second law of thermodynamics for a phantom energy accreting BTZ black hole

In this paper, we have studied the accretion of phantom energy on a (2+1)-dimensional stationary Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black hole. It has already been shown by Babichev et al that for the accretion of phantom energy onto a Schwarzschild black hole, the mass of black hole would decrease and the rate of change of mass would be dependent on the mass of the black hole. However, in the case of (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black hole, the mass evolution due to phantom accretion is independent of the mass of the black hole and is dependent only on the pressure and density of the phantom energy. We also study the generalized second law of thermodynamics at the event horizon and construct a condition that puts an lower bound on the pressure of the phantom energy.

Generalized second law of thermodynamics for FRW cosmology with logarithmic correction

In the previous analyses in the literature about the generalized second law (GSL) in an accelerated expanding universe the usual area relation for the entropy, i.e. $S={A\over 4G}$, was used for the cosmological horizon entropy. But this entropy relation may be modified due to thermal and quantum fluctuations or corrections motivated by loop quantum gravity giving rise to S={A\over 4}+πα\ln({A\over 4})+γ, where $α$ and $γ$ are some constants whose the values are still in debate in the literature. Our aim is to study the constraints that GSL puts on these parameters. Besides, we investigate the conditions that the presence of such modified terms in the entropy puts on other physical parameters the system such as the temperature of dark energy via requiring the validity of GSL. In our study we consider a spatially flat Friedman-Robertson-Walker and assume that the universe is composed of several interacting components (including dark energy). The model is investigated in the context of thermal equilibrium and non-equilibrium situations. We show that in a (super) accelerated universe GSL is valid whenever $α(<)>0$ leading to a (negative) positive contribution from logarithmic correction to the entropy. In the case of super acceleration the temperature of the dark energy is obtained to be less or equal to the Hawking temperature.

Holographic dark energy in Brans-Dicke cosmology with chameleon scalar field

We study a cosmological implication of holographic dark energy in the Brans-Dicke gravity. We employ the holographic model of dark energy to obtain the equation of state for the holographic energy density in non-flat (closed) universe enclosed by the event horizon measured from the sphere of horizon named $L$. Our analysis shows that one can obtain the phantom crossing scenario if the model parameter $α$ (of order unity) is tuned accordingly. Moreover, this behavior is achieved by treating the Brans-Dicke scalar field as a Chameleon scalar field and taking a non-minimal coupling of the scalar field with matter. Hence one can generate phantom-like equation of state from a holographic dark energy model in non-flat universe in the Brans-Dicke cosmology framework.

We investigate the holographic dark energy scenario with a varying gravitational constant in a flat background in the context of Hořava-Lifshitz gravity. We extract the exact differential equation determining the evolution of the dark energy density parameter, which includes $G$ variation term. Also we discuss a cosmological implication of our work by evaluating the dark energy equation of state for low redshifts containing varying $G$ corrections.

Motivated by recent work of one of us [1], we generalize this work to agegraphic tachyon models of dark energy with entropy correction terms arising from loop quantum gravity. We establish a connection between the entropy-corrected agegraphic dark energy and the tachyon scalar field in a universe with spacial curvature and reconstruct the potential and the dynamics of the tachyon scalar field which describe the tachyon cosmology. The cosmological implications of the entropy-corrected agegraphic dark energy models are also discussed.

Interacting entropy-corrected holographic Chaplygin gas model

Holographic dark energy (HDE), presents a dynamical view of dark energy which is consistent with the observational data and has a solid theoretical background. Its definition follows from the entropy-area relation $S(A)$, where $S$ and $A$ are entropy and area respectively. In the framework of loop quantum gravity, a modified definition of HDE called "entropy-corrected holographic dark energy" (ECHDE) has been proposed recently to explain dark energy with the help of quantum corrections to the entropy-area relation. Using this new definition, we establish a correspondence between modified variable Chaplygin gas, new modified Chaplygin gas and the viscous generalized Chaplygin gas with the entropy corrected holographic dark energy and reconstruct the corresponding scalar potentials which describe the dynamics of the scalar field.

Interacting entropy-corrected new agegraphic dark energy in Brans-Dicke cosmology

Motivated by a recent work of one of us [1], we extend it by using quantum (or entropy) corrected new agegraphic dark energy in the Brans-Dicke cosmology. The correction terms are motivated from the loop quantum gravity which is one of the competitive theories of quantum gravity. Taking the non-flat background spacetime along with the conformal age of the universe as the length scale, we derive the dynamical equation of state of dark energy and the deceleration parameter. An important consequence of this study is the phantom divide scenario with entropy-corrected new agegraphic dark energy. Moreover, we assume a system of dark matter, radiation and dark energy, while the later interacts only with dark matter. We obtain some essential expressions related with dark energy dynamics. The cosmic coincidence problem is also resolved in our model.

We find out that in this model the phantom crossing can be constructed if the model parameters are chosen suitably. We also perform the study for the new agegraphic dark energy model and calculate some relevant cosmological parameters and their evolution.

Interacting holographic dark energy with logarithmic correction

The holographic dark energy (HDE) is considered to be the most promising candidate of dark energy. Its definition is originally motivated from the entropy-area relation which depends on the theory of gravity under consideration. Recently a new definition of HDE is proposed with the help of quantum corrections to the entropy-area relation in the setup of loop quantum cosmology. Using this new definition, we investigate the model of interacting dark energy and derive its effective equation of state. Finally we establish a correspondence between generalized Chaplygin gas and entropy-corrected holographic dark energy.

New agegraphic dark energy in Horava-Lifshitz cosmology

We investigate the new agegraphic dark energy scenario in a universe governed by Horava-Lifshitz gravity. We consider both the detailed and non-detailed balanced version of the theory, we impose an arbitrary curvature, and we allow for an interaction between the matter and dark energy sectors. Extracting the differential equation for the evolution of the dark energy density parameter and performing an expansion of the dark energy equation-of-state parameter, we calculate its present and its low-redshift value as functions of the dark energy and curvature density parameters at present, of the Horava-Lifshitz running parameter $λ$, of the new agegraphic dark energy parameter $n$, and of the interaction coupling $b$. We find that $w_0=-0.82^{+0.08}_{-0.08}$ and $w_1=0.08^{+0.09}_{-0.07}$. Although this analysis indicates that the scenario can be compatible with observations, it does not enlighten the discussion about the possible conceptual and theoretical problems of Horava-Lifshitz gravity.

Self-gravitational corrections to the Cardy-Verlinde formula of charged BTZ black hole

The entropy of the charged BTZ black hole horizon is described by the Cardy-Verlinde formula. We then compute the self-gravitational corrections to the Cardy-Verlinde formula of the charged BTZ black hole in the context of Keski-Vakkuri, Kraus and Wilczek (KKW) analysis. The self-gravitational corrections to the entropy as given by the Cardy-Verlinde formula are found to be positive. This result provides evidence in support of the claim that the holographic bound is not universal in the framework of two-dimensional gravity models.

The generalized second law of thermodynamics in Horava-Lifshitz cosmology

We investigate the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics in a universe governed by Horava-Lifshitz gravity. Under the equilibrium assumption, that is in the late-time cosmological regime, we calculate separately the entropy time-variation for the matter fluid and, using the modified entropy relation, that of the apparent horizon itself. We find that under detailed balance the generalized second law is generally valid for flat and closed geometry and it is conditionally valid for an open universe, while beyond detailed balance it is only conditionally valid for all curvatures. Furthermore, we also follow the effective approach showing that it can lead to misleading results. The non-complete validity of the generalized second law could either provide a suggestion for its different application, or act as an additional problematic feature of Horava-Lifshitz gravity.

Thermodynamics of dark energy interacting with dark matter and radiation

We investigate the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics, in the cosmological scenario where dark energy interacts with both dark matter and radiation. Calculating separately the entropy variation for each fluid component and for the apparent horizon itself, we show that the generalized second law is always and generally valid, independently of the specific interaction form, of the fluids equation-of-state parameters and of the background geometry.

Wormholes supported by polytropic phantom energy

It is generally agreed that the acceleration of the Universe can best be explained by the presence of dark or phantom energy. The equation of state of the latter shows that the null energy condition is violated. Such a violation is the primary ingredient for sustaining traversable wormholes. This paper discusses wormholes supported by a more general form called polytropic phantom energy. The equation of state results in significant generalizations of the phantom-energy and, in some cases, the generalized Chaplygin-gas wormhole models, both of which continue to receive considerable attention from researchers. Several specific solutions are explored, namely, a constant redshift function, a particular choice of the shape function, and an isotropic-pressure model with various shape functions. Some of the wormhole spacetimes are asymptotically flat, but most are not.

Black Holes in Accelerated Universe

We have analyzed the evolution of mass of a stationary black hole in the standard FRW cosmological model. The evolution is determined specifically about the time of transition from the earlier matter to the later exotic dark energy dominated universe. It turns out that the accretion rate of matter on the black hole of mass $M$ was approximately $10^{54}M^{-1}$ higher than the accretion rate of exotic dark energy at the time of transition.

Black Holes in Bulk Viscous Cosmology

We investigate the effects of the accretion of phantom energy with non-zero bulk viscosity onto a Schwarzschild black hole and show that black holes accreting viscous phantom energy will lose mass rapidly compared to the non-viscous case. When matter is incorporated along with the phantom energy, the black holes meet with the same fate as bulk viscous forces dominate matter accretion. If the phantom energy has large bulk viscosity, then the mass of the black hole will reduce faster than in the small viscosity case.

On the resolution of cosmic coincidence problem and phantom crossing with triple interacting fluids

We here investigate a cosmological model in which three fluids interact with each other involving certain coupling parameters and energy exchange rates. The motivation of the problem stems from the puzzling `triple coincidence problem' which naively asks why the cosmic energy densities of matter, radiation and dark energy are almost of the same order of magnitude at the present time. In our model, we determine the conditions under triple interacting fluids will cross the phantom divide.

Primordial Black Holes in Phantom Cosmology

We investigate the effects of accretion of phantom energy onto primordial black holes. Since Hawking radiation and phantom energy accretion contribute to a {\it decrease} of the mass of the black hole, the primordial black hole that would be expected to decay now due to the Hawking process would decay {\it earlier} due to the inclusion of the phantom energy. Equivalently, to have the primordial black hole decay now it would have to be more massive initially. We find that the effect of the phantom energy is substantial and the black holes decaying now would be {\it much} more massive -- over 10 orders of magnitude! This effect will be relevant for determining the time of production and hence the number of evaporating black holes expected in a universe accelerating due to phantom energy.

Comments on "Charged particle dynamics in the field of slowly rotating compact star"

B.M. Mirza \cite{1} presented a solution of coupled Einstein-Maxwell equations for a slowly rotating neutron star; however his derivations had some errors and implicit assumptions that rendered the solution invalid. We point out the errors and present a mathematically consistent solution. The resulting solution is also physically consistent as it remains finite in the no rotation limit, whereas Mirza's solution diverges for zero rotation.
