Facing to Latency of Hyperledger Fabric for Blockchain-enabled IoT: Modeling and Analysis

Hyperledger Fabric (HLF), one of the most popular private blockchains, has recently received attention for blockchain-enabled Internet of Things (IoT). However, for IoT applications to handle time-sensitive data, the processing latency in HLF has emerged as a new challenge. In this article, therefore, we establish a practical HLF latency model for HLF-enabled IoT. We first discuss the structure and transaction flow of HLF-enabled IoT. After implementing real HLF, we capture the latencies that each transaction experiences and show that the total latency of HLF can be modeled as a Gamma distribution, which is validated by conducting a goodness-of-fit test (i.e., the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test). We also provide the parameter values of the modeled latency distribution for various HLF environments. Furthermore, we explore the impacts of three important HLF parameters including transaction generation rate, block size, and block-generation timeout on the HLF latency. As a result, this article provides design insights on minimizing the latency for HLF-enabled IoT.

Hamiltonians for the zeros of a general family of zeta functions

Towards the Hilbert-Pólya conjecture, in this paper, we present a general construction of Hamiltonian $\hat{H}_{f},$ which leads a general family of Hurwitz zeta functions $(-1)^{z_{n}-1}L(f,z_{n},x+1)$ defined by Mellin transform becomes their eigenstates under a suitable boundary condition, and the eigenvalues $E_{n}$ have the property that $z_{n}=\frac{1}{2}(1-iE_{n})$ are the zeros of a general family of zeta functions $L(f,z)\equiv L(f,z,1)$.

On $p$-adic Euler $L$-functions

In this paper, we define the p-adic Euler L-functions using the fermionic p-adic integral on Zp. By computing the values of the p-adic Euler L-functions at negative integers, we show that for Dirichlet characters with odd conductor, this definition is quivalent to the previous definition following Kubata-Leopoldt and Washington's approach. We also study the behavior of p-adic Euler L-functions at positive integers. An interesting thing is that most of the results in Section 11.3.3 of Cohen's book [H. Cohen, Number Theory Vol. II: Analytic and Modern Tools, Graduate Texts in Mathematics, 240. Springer, New York, 2007] are also established if we replace the generalized Bernoulli numbers with the generalized Euler numbers.

On $p$-adic Hurwitz-type Euler zeta functions

The definition for the $p$-adic Hurwitz-type Euler zeta functions has been given by using the fermionic $p$-adic integral on $\mathbb Z_p$. By computing the values of this kind of $p$-adic zeta function at negative integers, we show that it interpolates the Euler polynomials $p$-adically. Many properties are provided for the $p$-adic Hurwitz-type Euler zeta functions, including the convergent Laurent series expansion, the distribution formula, the functional equation, the reflection formula, the derivative formula, the $p$-adic Raabe formula and so on. The definition for the $p$-adic Euler $L$-functions has also been given by using the $p$-adic Hurwitz-type Euler zeta functions.

The (S,{2})-Iwasawa theory

Iwasawa made the fundamental discovery that there is a close connection between the ideal class groups of $\mathbb{Z}_{p}$-extensions of cyclotomic fields and the $p$-adic analogue of Riemann's zeta functions $$ζ(s)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{1}{n^{s}}.$$ In this paper, we show that there may also exist a parallel Iwasawa's theory corresponding to the $p$-adic analogue of Euler's deformation of zeta functions $$ϕ(s)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{(-1)^{n-1}}{n^{s}}.$$

On p-adic analogue of Weil's elliptic functions according to Eisenstein

In this paper, using p-adic integration with values in spaces of modular forms, we construct the p-adic analogue of Weil's elliptic functions according to Eisenstein in the book "Elliptic functions according to Eisenstein and and Kronecker". This construction extends Serre's p-adic family of Eisenstein series in "Formes modulaires et fonctions zêta p-adiques". We show that the power series expansion of Weil's elliptic functions also exists in the p-adic case.

On the integral of the product of four and more Bernoulli polynomials

In 1958, L.J. Mordell provided the formula for the integral of the product of two Bernoulli polynomials, he also remarked: "The integrals containing the product of more than two Bernoulli polynomials do not appear to lead to simple results." In this paper, we provide explicit formulas for the integral of the product of $r$ Bernoulli polynomials, where $r$ is any positive integer. Many authors' results in this direction, including Nörlund, Mordell, Carlitz, Agoh and Dilcher are special cases of the formulas given in this paper.

A Logical Model and Data Placement Strategies for MEMS Storage Devices

MEMS storage devices are new non-volatile secondary storages that have outstanding advantages over magnetic disks. MEMS storage devices, however, are much different from magnetic disks in the structure and access characteristics. They have thousands of heads called probe tips and provide the following two major access facilities: (1) flexibility: freely selecting a set of probe tips for accessing data, (2) parallelism: simultaneously reading and writing data with the set of probe tips selected. Due to these characteristics, it is nontrivial to find data placements that fully utilize the capability of MEMS storage devices. In this paper, we propose a simple logical model called the Region-Sector (RS) model that abstracts major characteristics affecting data retrieval performance, such as flexibility and parallelism, from the physical MEMS storage model. We also suggest heuristic data placement strategies based on the RS model and derive new data placements for relational data and two-dimensional spatial data by using those strategies. Experimental results show that the proposed data placements improve the data retrieval performance by up to 4.0 times for relational data and by up to 4.8 times for two-dimensional spatial data of approximately 320 Mbytes compared with those of existing data placements. Further, these improvements are expected to be more marked as the database size grows.
