Theoretical analysis of the leptonic decays $B\to \ell \ell \ell\barν_{\ell}$: Identical leptons in the final state

We study the effects of the identical leptons in the final state of the $B^+\to \ell^+ \ell^- \ell^+\barν_{\ell}$ decay. The amplitude of the process is described by the same form factors as the amplitude of the ${B\to \ell \ell \ell'\barν'_{\ell}}$ decay for non-identical leptons in the final state. However, the differential distributions are strongly different, as the ${B^+\to \ell^+ \ell^- \ell^+\barν_{\ell}}$ amplitude contains both the direct ($M_a$) and the exchange ($M_b$) diagrams. We calculate a number of the differential distirbutions. In particular, we propose an interesting observable that can be readily measured experimentally - the differential distribution over the invariant mass of the pair of leptons of the same charge, $\ell^+ \ell^+$. The good news is that the interference between $M_a$ and $M_b$, $d{\cal B}_{ab}$, is found to be at the level of less than 1\% in all considered differental distributions and therefore can be neglected in the full kinematical region of this decay.

Theoretical analysis of the leptonic decays $B\to \ell \ell \ell'\barν_{\ell'}$

We discuss the amplitude of the $B\to l^+l^-l'ν'$ decays and the differential decay rate $d^2Γ/dq^2dq'^2$, $q$ the momentum of the $l^+l^-$ pair emitted from the electromagnetic vertex and $q'$ the momentum of the $l'ν'$ pair emitted from the weak vertex. For the relevant form factors, we construct dispersion representations in $q^2$ which consistently take into account the Ward identity constraints at $q^2=0$ and the contributions of light vector resonances. This allows a reliable description of the form factors in the range $0 < q^2 \le 1$ GeV$^2$ that saturates around 99% of the decay rate. The differential decay rate behaves at small $q^2$ as $dΓ(B\to l^+l^-l' ν')/dq^2\propto 1/q^2$ in the limit $m'_l=0$, but contains also more singlular contribution of order ${m'^2_l}/q^4$, which we take into account. For the case $m_l'\le m_l$, the latter may be neglected and one obtains a mild logarithmic dependence of $Γ(B\to l^{+}l^{-}l'ν')$ on $m_l$. For the case $m_l\ll m'_l$, however, the ${m'^2_l}/q^4$ terms dominate the decay rate leading to $Γ(B\to l^{+}l^{-}l'ν')\sim m'^2_l/m^2_l$. We find the following features of the four-lepton $B$-decays: (i) The decay rates $Γ\left(B\to μ^+μ^-(μν_μ,eν_e)\right)$ are fully dominated by the region of light vector resonances $q^2\simeq M_ρ^2, M_ω^2$; (ii) The decay rate $Γ(B\to e^{+}e^{-}e ν_e)$ receives comparable contributions from the region near $q^2\sim 4m_e^2$ and from the resonance region; (iii) One finds a strong enhancement of the decay rate $Γ(B\to e^+e^- μν_μ)\sim m_μ^2/m_e^2$ which is dominated by the region $q^2\sim 4m_e^2$ due to the terms $O(m_μ^2/q^4)$ in the differential distribution.

$D^\ast$ Polarization as an Additional Constraint on New Physics in the $b\to cτ\barν_τ$ Transition

Measurements of the branching fractions of the semileptonic decays $B\to D^{(*)}τ\barν_τ$ and $B_c\to J/ψτ\barν_τ$ systematically exceed the Standard Model (SM) predictions, pointing to possible signals of new physics that can violate lepton flavor universality. The unknown origin of new physics realized in these channels can be probed using a general effective Hamiltonian constructed from four-fermion operators and the corresponding Wilson coefficients. Previously, constraints on these Wilson coefficients were obtained mainly from the experimental data for the branching fractions. Meanwhile, polarization observables were only theoretically studied. The situation has changed with more experimental data having become available, particularly those regarding the polarization of the tau and the $D^*$ meson. In this study, we discuss the implications of the new data on the overall picture. We then include them in an updated fit of the Wilson coefficients using all hadronic form factors from our covariant constituent quark model. The use of our form factors provides an analysis independent of those in the literature. Several new-physics scenarios are studied with the corresponding theoretical predictions provided, which are useful for future experimental studies.

Form factors for $B\to j_1j_2$ decays into two currents in QCD

We discuss the general properties of the $B$-meson decay form factors $F(q^2,q'^2)$, describing $B$-meson decays induced by two currents, e.g., $B$-decays into four leptons in the final state. We study the analytic properties of these complicated objects and identify those regions of $q^2$ and $q'^2$, where perturbative QCD can be applied for obtaining predictions for the physical form factors.

Analyzing new physics in the decays $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{(\ast)}τ^-\barν_τ$ with form factors obtained from the covariant quark model

We study possible New Physics (NP) effects in the exclusive decays $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{(\ast)} τ^- \barν_τ$. We extend the Standard Model (SM) by taking into account right-handed vector (axial), left- and right-handed (pseudo)scalar, and tensor current contributions. The $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{(\ast)}$ transition form factors are calculated in the full kinematic $q^2$ range by employing a covariant quark model developed by us. We provide constraints on NP operators based on measurements of the ratios of branching fractions $R(D^{(\ast)}) \equiv \mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^0 \to D^{(\ast)} τ^- \barν_τ)/ \mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^0 \to D^{(\ast)} μ^- \barν_μ)$ and consider the effects of these operators on physical observables in different NP scenarios. We also derive the four-fold angular distribution for the cascade decay $\bar {B}^0\to D^{\ast\,+}(\to D^0π^+)τ^-\barν_τ$ which allows one to analyze the polarization of the $D^{\ast}$ meson in the presence of NP effects. We discuss several strategies to distinguish between various NP contributions.

Decay $B_s\to ϕ\ell^+ \ell^-$ in covariant quark model

Our article is devoted to the study of the rare $B_s\to ϕ\ell^+\ell^-$ decay where $\ell=μ,τ$. We compute the relevant form factors in the framework of the covariant quark model with infrared confinement in the full kinematical momentum transfer region. The calculated form factors are used to evaluate branching fractions and polarization observables in the cascade decay $B\to ϕ(\to K^+K^-)\ell^+\ell^-$. We compare the obtained results with available experimental data and the results from other theoretical approaches.

Four-quark structure of Zc(3900), Z(4430) and Xb(5568) states

We examine the four-quark structure of the recently discovered charged $Z_c(3900)$, $Z(4430)$, and $X_b(5568)$ states. We calculate the widths of the strong decays $Z_c^+ \to J/ψπ^+$ ($η_cρ^+$, $\bar D^0D^{\ast\,+}$, $\bar D^{\ast\,0}D^+$), $Z(4430)^+ \to J/ψπ^+$ ($ψ(2s) π^+$), and $X^+_b\to B_sπ^+$ within a covariant quark model previously developed by us. We find that the tetraquark-type current widely used in the literature for the $Z_c(3900)$ leads to a significant suppression of the $\bar D D^\ast$ and $\bar D^\ast D$ modes. Contrary to this a molecular-type current provides an enhancement by a factor of 6-7 for the $\bar D D^\ast$ modes compared with the $Z_c^+\to J/ψπ^+$, $η_cρ^+$ modes in agreement with recent experimental data from the BESIII Collaboration. In case of the $Z(4430)$ state we test a sensitivity of the ratio $R_Z$ of the $Z(4430)^+ \to ψ(2s) π^+$ and $Z(4430)^+ \to J/ψπ^+$ decay rates to a choice of the size parameter $Λ_{Z(4430)}$ of the $Z(4430)$. Using upper constraint for the sum of these two modes deduced from the LHCb Collaboration data we find that $R_Z$ varies from 4.64 to 4.08 when $Λ_{Z(4430)}$ changes from 2.2 to 3.2 GeV. Also we make the prediction for the $Z(4430)^+ \to D^{\ast\,+} \bar D^{\ast\,0}$ decay rate.

Isospin-violating strong decays of scalar single-heavy tetraquarks

We present a study of the isospin-violating one-pion strong decays of single heavy tetraquarks $X_Q = X(s q \bar q \bar Q)$, $Q=c, b$, and $q=u, d$ with spin-parity $J^P = 0^+$. We assume that the tetraquarks have the configuration of a color diquark and a antidiquark. Three mechanisms of isospin violation can contribute to the decay rate: (1) mixing of the $X(s u \bar u \bar Q)$ and $X(s d \bar d \bar Q)$ tetraquark currents, (2) an explicit $m_d-m_u$ quark mass difference in the quark diagrams describing the corresponding decay transitions and (3) $π^0-η$ mixing in the final state. Our main results are: (1) It is quite likely that the investigated tetraquark states are isosinglet states with a small admixture of an isotriplet component; (2) The first isospin-breaking mechanism affects the decay rater more significantly than the others; (3) Our calculations contain a size parameter $Λ_{X_Q}$, characterizing the distribution of the quarks in the tetraquark state $X_Q$. Absolute decay rates depend very much on the choice of $Λ_{X_Q}$, varied from 1 to 2 GeV, reflecting the compactness of the multiquark system.

Nucleon tensor form factors in a relativistic confined quark model

We present results for the isotriplet and isosinglet tensor form factors of the nucleon in the relativistic confined quark model. The model allows us to calculate not only their normalizations at $Q^2=0$ and the related tensor charges, but also the full $Q^2$-dependence. Our results are compared to existing data and predictions of other theoretical approaches. We stress the importance of these form factors for the phenomenology of physics beyond the Standard Model.

Form factors of the B-S-transitions in the covariant quark model

In the wake of exploring uncertainty in the full angular distribution of the $B\to Kπ+μ^+μ^-$ caused by the presence of the intermediate scalar $K^\ast_0$ meson, we perform the straightforward calculation of the $B(B_s)\to S$ (S is a scalar meson) transition form factors in the full kinematical region within the covariant quark model. We restrict ourselves by the scalar mesons below 1 GeV: $a_0(980), f_0(500), f_0(980), K^\ast_0(800)$. As an application of the obtained results we calculate the widths of the semileptonic and rare decays $B(B_s)\to S\ell\barν$, $B(B_s)\to S\ell\bar\ell$ and $B(B_s)\to Sν\barν$. We compare our results with those obtained in other approaches.

On Chow weight structures for $cdh$-motives with integral coefficients

The main goal of this paper is to define a certain Chow weight structure $w_{Chow}$ on the category $DM_c(S)$ of (constructible) $cdh$-motives over an equicharacteristic scheme $S$. In contrast to the previous papers of D. Hébert and the first author on weights for relative motives (with rational coefficients), we can achieve our goal for motives with integral coefficients (if $\operatorname{char}S=0$; if $\operatorname{char}S=p>0$ then we consider motives with $\mathbb{Z}[\frac{1}{p}]$-coefficients). We prove that the properties of the Chow weight structures that were previously established for $\mathbb{Q}$-linear motives can be carried over to this "integral" context (and we generalize some of them using certain new methods). In this paper we mostly study the version of $w_{Chow}$ defined via "gluing from strata"; this enables us to define Chow weight structures for a wide class of base schemes. As a consequence, we certainly obtain certain (Chow)-weight spectral sequences and filtrations for any (co)homology of motives.

Physical observables in the decay $Λ_b \to Λ_c (\to Λ+π)+τ^{-}+\bar ν_τ$

We analyze the tauonic semileptonic baryon decays $Λ^0_b \to Λ^+_c + τ^{-} +\bar ν_τ$ with particular emphasis on the lepton helicity flip contributions which vanish for zero lepton masses. We calculate the total rate, differential decay distributions, the longitudinal and transverse polarization components of the $Λ^+_c$ and the $τ^-$, and the lepton-side forward-backward asymmetries. We use the covariant confined quark model to provide numerical results on these observables.

Pion polarizabilities: Theory vs Experiment

The values of charged pion polarizabilities obtained in the framework of chiral perturbation theory at the level of two-loop accuracy are compared with the experimental result recently reported by COMPASS Collaboration. It is found that the calculated value for the dipole polarizabilities $(α-β)_{π^\pm}= (5.7\pm 1.0)\times 10^{-4}\,{\rm fm}^3$ fits quite well the experimental result $(α-β)_{π^\pm} = (4.0 \pm 1.2_{\rm stat} \pm 1.4_{\rm syst}) \times 10^{-4}\,{\rm fm}^3$.

Semileptonic decays $Λ_c^+ \to Λ\ell^+ ν_\ell\,\,(\ell=e,μ)$ in the covariant quark model and comparison with the new absolute branching fraction measurements of Belle and BESIII

We present precise theoretical predictions for the absolute branching fractions of $Λ_c^+ \to Λ\ell^+ ν_\ell\,(\ell=e,μ)$ decays in the covariant confined quark model. This study is motivated by two recent and accurate measurements of the absolute branching fractions of $Λ_c^+ \to p K^- π^+$ and $Λ_c^+ \to Λe^+ ν_e$ by the Belle Collaboration at the KEKB and by the BESIII Collaboration at the BEPCII. Our predictions for the branching fractions are consistent with both experimental results. We also provide detailed numerical results for differential decay distributions and polarization observables.

The semileptonic decay Lambda_b -> Lambda_c + tau(-) + antinu_tau in the covariant confined quark model

Recently there has been much interest in the tauonic semileptonic meson decays B -> D + tau + nu_tau and B -> D* + tau + nu_tau where one has found larger rates than what is predicted by the Standard Model. We analyze the corresponding semileptonic baryon decays Lambda_b(0) -> Lambda_c(+) + tau(-) + antinu_tau with particular emphasis on the lepton helicity flip and scalar contributions which vanish for zero lepton masses. We calculate the total rate, differential decay distributions, the longitudinal and transverse polarization of the daughter baryon Lambda_c(+) and the tau-lepton, and the lepton-side forward-backward asymmetries. The nonvanishing polarization of the daughter baryon Lambda_c(+) leads to hadron-side asymmetries in e.g. the decay Lambda_c(+) -> Lambda(0) + pi(+) and azimuthal correlations between the two final state decay planes which we specify. We provide numerical results on these observables using results of the covariant confined quark model. We find large lepton mass effects in the q2-spectra and in the polarization observables.

Towards an assessment of the ATLAS data on the branching ratio Gamma(Lambda_b(0) -> psi(2S) Lambda(0))/Gamma(Lambda_b(0) -> J/psi Lambda(0))

Recently the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN reported on the measurement of the branching ratio R(Lambda_b) = Gamma(Lambda_b(0) -> psi(2S) Lambda(0))/Gamma(Lambda_b(0) -> J/psi Lambda(0)). The measured branching ratio R(Lambda_b) = 0.501 pm 0.033$ (stat) pm 0.019 (syst) was found to be lower than the covariant quark model prediction of R(Lambda_b) = 0.8 pm 0.1 calculated by us recently. We present a detailed analysis of the branching ratio R(Lambda_b) using a model-independent framework for the heavy-to-light form factors based on results from our previos papers.

On the meson mass spectrum in the covariant confined quark model

We provide a new insight into the problem of generating the hadron mass spectrum in the framework of the covariant confined quark model. One of the underlying principles of this model is the compositeness condition which means that the wave function renormalization constant of the elementary hadron is equal to zero. In particular, this equation allows to express the Yukawa coupling of the meson fields to the constituent quarks as a function of other model parameters. In addition to the compositeness condition we also employ a further equation which relates the meson mass function to the Fermi coupling. Both equations guarantee that the Yukawa-type theory is equivalent to the Fermi-type theory thereby providing an interpretation of the meson field as the bound state of its constituent fermions (quarks). We evaluate the Fermi-coupling as a function of meson (pseudoscalar and vector) masses and vary the values of the masses in such a way to obtain a smooth behavior for the resulting curve. The mass spectrum obtained in this manner is found to be in good agreement with the experimental data. We also compare the behavior of our Fermi-coupling with the strong QCD coupling alpha_s calculated in an QCD-inspired approach.

Decays $B_{s}\rightarrow J/ψ+η$ and $B_{s}\rightarrow J/ψ+η'$ in the framework of covariant quark model

The covariant quark model represents an appropriate theoretical framework to describe the recent results on $B_{s}\rightarrow J/ψ+η$ and $B_{s}\rightarrow J/ψ+η'$ decays from the Belle collaboration. In this article we present the main features of he covariant quark model together with details on some of its aspects and methods, which we consider to be important. Further we apply the model specifically to the studied decay processes and give numerical results on decay widths as they follow from the odel. We conclude that the model, with most of its parameters previously fixed from different processes, is able to incorporate the new measurements from the Belle experiment.

Multiquark states in the covariant quark confinement model

This talk reviews the last applications of the covariant quark model for studying the properties of the multiquark states: B_s-meson (quark-antiquark state), light baryons (three-quark states) and tetraquark (four-quark state). The form factors of the B(B_s)-> P(V)-transitions are evaluated in the full kinematical region of momentum transfer squared. The widths of some B_s-nonleptonic decays are calculated. The static properties of the proton and neutron, and the Λ-hyperon (magnetic moments and charge radii) and the behavior of the nucleon form factors at low momentum transfers are described. The consequences of treating the X(3872) meson as a tetraquark bound state are explored. The decay widths of the observed channels X->J/ψ+2π(3π) and X-> \bar D^0 + D^0+π^0 via the intermediate off--shell states X-> J/ψ+ρ(ω) and X-> \bar D + D^* are calculated. Its one-photon decay X-> γ+ J/ψis also analyzed.

Polarization effects in the cascade decay Lambda_b -> Lambda(-> p pi-) + J/psi(-> l+ l-) in the covariant confined quark model

We calculate the invariant and helicity amplitudes for the nonleptonic decay Lambda_b -> Lambda + J/psi, psi(2S) in the covariant confined quark model. We discuss joint angular decay distributions in the cascade decay Lambda_b -> Lambda(-> p pi-) + J/psi, psi(2S) (-> l+ l-) and calculate some of the asymmetry parameters that characterize the joint angular decay distribution. We confirm expectations from the naive quark model that the transitions into the lambda_Lambda=1/2 helicity states of the daughter baryon Lambda are strongly suppressed leading to a near maximal negative polarization of the Lambda. For the same reason the azimuthal correlation between the two decay planes spanned by (p pi-) and (l+ l-) is negligibly small. We provide form factor results for the whole accessible q2-range. Our results are close to lattice results at minimum recoil and light-cone sum rule results at maximum recoil. A new feature of our analysis is that we include lepton mass effects in the calculation which allows us to also describe the cascade decay Lambda_b -> Lambda(-> p pi-) + psi(2S)(-> tau+ tau-).

Rare baryon decays Lambda_b -> Lambda l+ l- (l=e, mu, tau) and Lambda_b -> Lambda gamma : Differential and total rates, lepton- and hadron-side forward-backward asymmetries

Using the covariant constituent quark model previously developed by us we calculate the differential rate and the forward-backward asymmetries on the lepton and hadron side for the rare baryon decays Lambda_b -> Lambda l+ l- (l=e, mu, tau) and Lambda_b -> Lambda gamma. We use helicity methods to write down a three-fold joint angular decay distribution for the cascade decay Lambda_b -> Lambda (-> p pi-) + J_eff (-> l+ l-). Through appropriate angular integrations we obtain expressions for the rates, the lepton-side forward-backward (FB) asymmetry and the polarization of the daughter baryon Lambda leading to a hadron-side forward-backward asymmetry. We present numerical results on these observables using the covariant quark model and compare our results to the results of other calculations that have appeared in the literature.

Form factors for semileptonic, nonleptonic and rare $B\, (B_s)$ meson decays

We provide new values for the model parameters of the covariant constituent quark model (with built--in infrared confinement) in the meson sector by a fit to the leptonic decay constants and a number of electromagnetic decays. We then evaluate, in a parameter free way, the form factors of the $B(B_s)\to P(V)$-transitions in the full kinematical region of momentum transfer. As an application of our results we calculate the widths of the nonleptonic $B_s$-decays into $D_s^- D_s^+,$ $D_s^{\ast\,-} D_s^{+}+D_s^- D_s^{\ast\,+}$ and $D_s^{\ast\,-} D_s^{\ast\,+}$. These modes give the largest contribution to $ΔΓ$ for the $B_s-\bar B_s$ system. We also treat the nonleptonic decay $B_{s}\to\Jpsiϕ$. Although this mode is color suppressed this decay has important implications for the search of possible CP-violating New Physics effects in $B_s-\bar B_s$ mixing.

In a first application we describe the static properties of the proton and neutron, and the $Λ$-hyperon (magnetic moments and charge radii) and the behavior of the nucleon form factors at low momentum transfers. One-photon decay of the tetraquark state $X(3872) \to γ+ J/ψ$ in a relativistic constituent quark model with infrared confinement

We further explore the consequences of treating the X(3872) meson as a tetraquark bound state by analyzing its one-photon decay X => γ+ J/psi in the framework of our approach developed in previous papers which incorporates quark confinement in an effective way. To introduce electromagnetism we gauge a nonlocal effective Lagrangian describing the interaction of the X(3872) meson with its four constituent quarks by using the P-exponential path-independent formalism. We calculate the matrix element of the transition X => γ+ J/psi and prove its gauge invariance. We evaluate the X=> γ+ J/psi decay width and the longitudinal/transverse composition of the J/psi in this decay. For a reasonable value of the size parameter of the X(3872) meson we find consistency with the available experimental data. We also calculate the helicity and multipole amplitudes of the process, and describe how they can be obtained from the covariant transition amplitude by covariant projection.

Relativistic constituent quark model with infrared confinement

We refine the relativistic constituent quark model developed in our previous papers to include the confinement of quarks. It is done, first, by introducing the scale integration in the space of alpha-parameters, and, second, by cutting this scale integration on the upper limit which corresponds to an infrared cutoff. In this manner one removes all possible thresholds presented in the initial quark diagram. The cutoff parameter is taken to be the same for all physical processes. We adjust other model parameters by fitting the calculated quantities of the basic physical processes to available experimental data. As an application, we calculate the electromagnetic form factors of the pion and the transition form factors of the omega and eta Dalitz decays.

Strong D* -> D+pi and B* -> B+pi couplings

We compute g_{D* D pi} and g_{B* B pi} using a framework in which all elements are constrained by Dyson-Schwinger equation studies of QCD, and therefore incorporates a consistent, direct and simultaneous description of light- and heavy-quarks and the states they may constitute. We link these couplings with the heavy-light-meson leptonic decay constants, and thereby obtain g_{D* D pi}=15.9+2.1/-1.0 and g_{B* B pi}=30.0+3.2/-1.4. From the latter we infer \hat-g_B=0.37+0.04/-0.02. Relations between SU(2)- and SU(3)-LECs in chiral perturbation theory

Chiral perturbation theory in the two--flavour sector allows one to analyse Green functions in QCD in the limit where the strange quark mass is considered to be large in comparison to the external momenta and to the light quark masses m_u and m_d. In this framework, the low--energy constants of SU{2}_R \times SU{2}_L depend on the value of the heavy quark masses. For the coupling constants which occur at order p^2 and p^4 in the chiral expansion, we worked out the dependence on the strange quark mass at two--loop accuracy, and provided analogous relations for some of the couplings c_i which are relevant at order p^6. This talk comments on the methods used, and illustrates implications of the results obtained.

We use the framework of a relativistic constituent quark model to study the semileptonic transitions of the Bc meson into CCbar charmonium states where CCbar = etaC (1S0), J/psi (3S1), chiC0 (3P0), chiC1 (3P1), hc (1P1), chiC2 (3P2), psi (3D2). We compute the q^2-dependence of all relevant form factors and give predictions for their semileptonic Bc decay modes including also their tau-modes. We derive a formula for the polar angle distribution of the charged lepton in the (l nu) c.m. frame and compute the partial helicity rates that multiply the angular factors in the decay distribution. For the discovery channel [B_c => J/psi (=> mu+ mu-) l nu] we compute the transverse/longitudinal composition of the J/psi which can be determined by an angular analysis of the decay J/psi => mu+ mu-. We compare our results with the results of other calculations.
