Numerical Approximation of Nonlinear SPDE's

The numerical analysis of stochastic parabolic partial differential equations of the form $$ du + A(u) = f \,dt + g \, dW, $$ is surveyed, where $A$ is a partial operator and $W$ a Brownian motion. This manuscript unifies much of the theory developed over the last decade into a cohesive framework which integrates techniques for the approximation of deterministic partial differential equations with methods for the approximation of stochastic ordinary differential equations. The manuscript is intended to be accessible to audiences versed in either of these disciplines, and examples are presented to illustrate the applicability of the theory.

Invariant measure for the stochastic Navier-Stokes equations in unbounded 2D domains

Building upon a recent work by two of the authours and J. Seidler on bw-Feller property for stochastic nonlinear beam and wave equations, we prove the existence of an invariant measure to stochastic 2-D Navier-Stokes (with multiplicative noise) equations in unbounded domains. This answers an open question left after the first authour and Y. Li proved a corresponding result in the case of an additive noise.

Weak characterizations of stochastic integrability and Dudley's theorem in infinite dimensions

In this paper we consider stochastic integration with respect to cylindrical Brownian motion in infinite dimensional spaces. We study weak characterizations of stochastic integrability and present a natural continuation of results of van Neerven, Weis and the second named author. The limitation of weak characterizations will be demonstrated with a nontrivial counterexample. The second subject treated in the paper addresses representation theory for random variables in terms of stochastic integrals. In particular, we provide an infinite dimensional version of Dudley's representation theorem for random variables and an extension of Doob's representation for martingales.
