On the equivalence of solutions for a class of stochastic evolution equations in a Banach space

We study a class of stochastic evolution equations in a Banach space $E$ driven by cylindrical Wiener process. Three different concept of solutions: generalised strong, weak and mild are defined and the conditions under which they are equivalent are given. We apply this result to prove existence, uniqueness and continuity of weak solutions to stochastic delay equation with additive noise. We also consider two examples of these equations in non-reflexive Banach spaces: a stochastic transport equation with delay and a stochastic McKendrick equation with delay.

Optimal double control problem for a PDE model of goodwill dynamics

We propose a new optimal model of product goodwill in a segmented market where the state variable is described by a partial differential equation of the Lotka--Sharp--McKendrick type. In order to maximize the sum of discounted profits over a finite time horizon, we control the advertising efforts which influence the state equation and the boundary condition. Moreover, we introduce the mathematical representation of consumer recommendations in a segmented market. Based on the semigroup approach, we prove the existence and uniqueness of optimal controls. Using a maximum principle, we construct a numerical algorithm to find the optimal solution. Finally, we examine several simulations on the optimal goodwill model and discover two types of advertising strategies.

Vector-valued stochastic delay equations - a weak solution and its Markovian representation

A class of stochastic delay equations in Banach space $E$ driven by cylindrical Wiener process is studied. We investigate two concepts of solutions: weak and generalised strong, and give conditions under which they are equivalent. We present an evolution equation approach in a Banach space $\Ep{p}:=E\times L^p(-1,0;E)$ proving that the solutions can be reformulated as $\Ep{p}$-valued Markov processes. Based on the Markovian representation we prove the existence and continuity of the solutions. The results are applied to stochastic delay partial differential equations with an application to neutral networks and population dynamics.

Vector-valued stochastic delay equations - a semigroup approach

Let E be a type 2 UMD Banach space, H a Hilbert space and let p be in [1,\infty). Consider the following stochastic delay equation in E: dX(t) = AX(t) + CX_t + b(X(t),X_t)dW_H(t), t>0; X(0) = x_0; X_0 = f_0. Here A : D(A) -> E is the generator of a C_0-semigroup, the operator C is given by a Riemann-Stieltjes integral, B : E x L^p(-1,0;E) -> γ(H,E) is a Lipschitz function and W_H is an H-cylindrical Brownian motion. We prove that a solution to \eqref{SDE1} is equivalent to a solution to the corresponding stochastic Cauchy problem, and use this to prove the existence, uniqueness and continuity of a solution.
