Next-to-leading order corrections to decays of the heavier CP-even Higgs boson in the two Higgs doublet model

We investigate the impact of electroweak (EW), scalar and QCD corrections to the full set of decay branching ratios of an additional CP-even Higgs boson ($H$) in the two Higgs doublet model with a softly broken $Z_2$ symmetry. We employ the improved gauge independent on-shell scheme in the renormalized vertices. We particularly focus on the scenario near the alignment limit in which couplings of the discovered 125 GeV Higgs boson ($h$) coincide with those of the standard model while the $Hhh$ coupling vanishes at tree level. The renormalized decay rate for $H\to hh$ can significantly be changed from the prediction at tree level due to non-decoupling loop effects of additional Higgs bosons, even in the near alignment case. We find that the radiative corrections to the branching ratio of $H\to hh$ can be a few ten percent level in the case with the masses of additional Higgs bosons being degenerate under the constraints of perturbative unitarity, vacuum stability and the EW precision data. Further sizable corrections can be obtained for the case with a mass difference among the additional Higgs bosons.

H-COUP Version 2: a program for one-loop corrected Higgs boson decays in non-minimal Higgs sectors

We present the concept of H-COUP_ver 2, which evaluates the decay rates (including higher order corrections) for the Higgs boson with a mass of 125 GeV in various extended Higgs models. In the previous version (H-COUP_1.0), only a full set of the Higgs boson vertices are evaluated at one-loop level in a gauge invariant manner in these models. H-COUP_ver 2 contains all the functions of H-COUP_1.0. After shortly introducing these extended Higgs models and discussing their theoretical and experimental constraints, we summarize formulae for the renormalized vertices and the decay rates. We then explain how to install and run H-COUP_ver 2 with some numerical examples.

Full next-to-leading-order calculations of Higgs boson decay rates in models with non-minimal scalar sectors

We present a complete set of decay rates of the Higgs boson with the mass of 125 GeV at the full next-to-leading order in a variety of extended Higgs models; i.e., a model with an additional real singlet scalar field, four types of two Higgs doublet models and the inert doublet model. All the one-loop contributions due to QCD and electroweak interactions as well as scalar interactions are taken into account, and the calculations are systematically performed. Branching ratios for all the decay modes are evaluated in these models, and patterns of deviations in each decay mode from the standard model predictions are comprehensively analyzed. We show how these models with extended Higgs sectors can be distinguished by using our calculation of the branching ratios and future precision measurements of the Higgs boson decays.

Testing the dark matter scenario in the inert doublet model by future precision measurements of the Higgs boson couplings

We evaluate radiative corrections to the Higgs boson couplings in the inert doublet model, in which the lightest component of the $Z_2^{}$ odd scalar doublet field can be a dark matter candidate. The one-loop contributions to the $hVV$, $hff$ and $hhh$ couplings are calculated in the on-shell scheme, where $h$ is the Higgs boson with the mass 125 GeV, $V$ represents a weak gauge boson and $f$ is a fermion. We investigate how the one-loop corrected Higgs boson couplings can be deviated from the predictions in the standard model under the constraints from perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability in the scenario where the model can explain current dark matter data. When the mass of the dark matter is slightly above a half of the Higgs boson mass, it would be difficult to test the model by the direct search experiments for dark matter. We find that in such a case the model can be tested at future collider experiments by either the direct search of heavier inert particles or precision measurements of the Higgs boson couplings.

Exploring extended Higgs sectors by radiative corrections with future precision coupling measurements

In non-minimal Higgs sectors, coupling constants of the discovered Higgs boson can deviate from the predictions in the Standard Model by effects of additional scalar bosons. The pattern of the deviations in various Higgs boson couplings largely depends on the structure of extended Higgs sectors. Therefore, we may be able to determine the true Higgs sector by fingerprinting the predictions on the Higgs boson couplings in each model with the future precision data. As the expected precision is extremely high, it is essentially important to evaluate the theory predictions as accurately as possible with radiative corrections in each model. We calculate a full set of one-loop corrections to the Higgs boson couplings in the two Higgs doublet models with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry, where there are four types of Yukawa interactions. We discuss how to distinguish four types of the model by evaluating the pattern of the deviations in the Yukawa coupling constants and also the couplings with gauge bosons. In addition, we demonstrate how inner parameters in each type of the model can be extracted by the future precision measurements of these couplings at the high luminosity LHC and the International Linear Collider.

Fingerprinting the extended Higgs sector using one-loop corrected Higgs boson couplings and future precision measurements

We calculate radiative corrections to a full set of coupling constants for the 125 GeV Higgs boson at the one-loop level in two Higgs doublet models with four types of Yukawa interaction under the softly-broken discrete $Z_2$ symmetry. The renormalization calculations are performed in the on-shell scheme, in which the gauge dependence in the mixing parameter which appears in the previous calculation is consistently avoided. We first show the details of our renormalizaton scheme, and present the complete set of the analytic formulae of the renormalized couplings. We then numerically demonstrate how the inner parameters of the model can be extracted by the future precision measurements of these couplings at the high luminosity LHC and the International Linear Collider.

Indirect reach of heavy MSSM Higgs bosons by precision measurements at future lepton colliders

In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), the bottom Yukawa coupling of the Higgs boson can considerably deviate from its Standard Model prediction due to non-decoupling effects. We point out that the ratio of the Higgs boson decay branching fraction to a bottom quark pair and that to a $W$-boson pair from the same production channel is particularly sensitive to large additional MSSM Higgs boson mass regions at future electron-positron colliders. Based on this precision measurement, we explicitly show the indirect discovery reach of the additional Higgs bosons according to planned programs of the International Linear Collider.

LHC Run-I constraint on the mass of doubly charged Higgs bosons in the same-sign diboson decay scenario

In this Letter, we study the latest bound on the mass of doubly charged Higgs bosons, $H^{\pm\pm}$, assuming that they dominantly decay into a diboson. The new bound is obtained by comparing the inclusive searches for events with a same-sign dilepton by the ATLAS Collaboration using the latest 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ data at the LHC 8 TeV run with theoretical prediction based on the Higgs triplet model with next-to-leading order QCD corrections. We find that the lower mass bound on $H^{\pm\pm}$ is about 84 GeV.

Radiative corrections to the Higgs boson couplings in the model with an additional real singlet scalar field

We calculate renormalized Higgs boson couplings with gauge bosons and fermions at the one-loop level in the model with an additional isospin singlet real scalar field. These coupling constants can deviate from the predictions in the standard model due to tree-level mixing effects and one-loop contributions of the extra neutral scalar boson. We investigate how they can be significant under the theoretical constraints from perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability and also the condition of avoiding the wrong vacuum. Furthermore, comparing with the predictions in the Type I two Higgs doublet model, we numerically demonstrate how the singlet extension model can be distinguished and identified by using precision measurements of the Higgs boson couplings at future collider experiments.

Bounds on the mass of doubly-charged Higgs bosons in the same-sign diboson decay scenario

A direct search for doubly-charged Higgs bosons $H^{\pm\pm}$ is one of the most important probe in the Higgs Triplet Model, which is motivated by generation mechanisms of tiny neutrino masses. There are two major decay modes of $H^{\pm\pm}$; i.e., the same-sign dilepton decay $H^{\pm\pm}\to\ell^\pm\ell^\pm$ and the same-sign diboson decay $H^{\pm\pm}\to W^{\pm(*)}W^{\pm(*)}$. For the case where the former decay mode is dominant, the lower limit on the mass of $H^{\pm\pm}$ has been set at about 400 GeV by ATLAS and CMS Collaborations. On the other hand, for the case where the latter decay mode is dominant, no dedicated search has been performed in the past. By taking into account characteristic signals of $H^{\pm\pm}$ in the diboson decay scenario at LEP and the LHC experiments, we find that the lower mass bound of 60-68 GeV can be obtained using the same-sign dilepton search performed by ATLAS Collaboration with 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ data at the collision energy of 7 TeV. We also show that the limit can be extended up to about 85-90 GeV, assuming the integrated luminosity of 20 fb$^{-1}$ and 7 TeV for the collision energy. We give detailed explanations on the decay properties of $H^{\pm\pm}$ for relatively small mass cases and also on production cross sections of $H^{\pm\pm}$ at the next-to-leading order of QCD at the LHC.

Radiative corrections to Higgs coupling constants in two Higgs doublet models

A pattern of deviations in the Standard Model (SM) like Higgs boson ($h$) couplings from their SM predictions depends on the structure of the Higgs sector and the Yukawa interaction. In particular, in Two Higgs Doublet Models (THDMs) with a softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry, different characteristic patterns of deviation in Yukawa coupling constants ($hf\bar{f}$) can be allowed depending on four types of Yukawa interactions. We calculate $hf\bar{f}$ coupling constants at the one-loop level in all the types of THDMs. Even if there is no deviation in the $hf\bar{f}$ couplings at the tree level, they can deviate from the SM predictions by a few percent due to extra Higgs boson loop contributions. We find that if the deviations in the gauge couplings $hVV$ ($V=Z, W$) are found with an enough large to be measured at the International Linear Collider (ILC), the scale factors for the $hf\bar{f}$ couplings do not overlap among the THDMs with four types of Yukawa interactions even taking into account the radiative corrections. Therefore, in such a case, we can indirectly determine the type of the THDMs at the ILC even without information from direct searches of the additional Higgs bosons.

preprint2014arXiv

Radiative corrections to the Yukawa coupling constants in two Higgs doublet models

We calculate one-loop corrected Yukawa coupling constants $hf\bar{f}$ for the standard model like Higgs boson $h$ in two Higgs doublet models. We focus on the models with the softly-broken $Z_2$ symmetry, which is imposed to avoid the flavor changing neutral current. Under the $Z_2$ symmetry, there are four types of Yukawa interactions. We find that one-loop contributions from extra Higgs bosons modify the $hf\bar{f}$ couplings to be maximally about $5\%$ under the constraint from perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability. Our results show that the pattern of tree-level deviations by the mixing effect in each type of Yukawa couplings from the SM predictions does not change even including radiative corrections. Moreover, when the gauge couplings $hVV$ ($V=W,Z$) are found to be slightly (with a percent level) differ from the SM predictions, the $hf\bar{f}$ couplings also deviate but more largely. Therefore, in such a case, not only can we determine the type of Yukawa couplings but also we can obtain information on the extra Higgs bosons by comparing the predictions with precisely measured $hf\bar{f}$ and $hVV$ couplings at future electron-positron colliders.

Radiative corrections to the Yukawa couplings in two Higgs doublet models

A pattern of deviations in coupling constants of Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs boson from their SM predictions indicates characteristics of an extended Higgs sector. In particular, Yukawa coupling constants can deviate in different patterns in four types of Two Higgs Doublet Models (THDMs) with a softly-broken Z_2 symmetry. We can discriminate types of THDMs by measuring the pattern of these deviations. We calculate Yukawa coupling constants of the SM-like Higgs boson with radiative corrections in all types of Yukawa interactions in order to compare to future precision data at the International Linear Collider (ILC). We perform numerical computations of scale factors, and evaluate differences between the Yukawa couplings in THDMs and those of the SM at the one-loop level. We find that scale factors in different types of THDMs do not overlap each other even in the case with maximum radiative corrections if gauge couplings are different from the SM predictions large enough to be measured at the ILC. Therefore, in such a case, we can indirectly determine the type of the THDM at the ILC even without finding additional Higgs bosons directly.

Probing exotic Higgs sectors from the precise measurement of Higgs boson couplings

We study coupling constants of the standard model like Higgs boson with the gauge bosons $hZZ$ and $hWW$ and fermions $hf\bar{f}$ in the general Higgs sector which contains higher isospin representations with arbitrary hypercharge. In Higgs sectors with exotic Higgs representations, the $hZZ$ and $hWW$ coupling constants can be larger than those in the standard model. We calculate deviations in the Higgs boson couplings from standard model values in the model with a real or complex triplet field, the Georgi-Machacek model and the model with a septet scalar field. We also study deviations in the event rates of $h\to ZZ^*$, $h\to WW^*$, $h\to γγ$, $h\to b\bar{b}$ and $h\to ττ$ channels.

Radiative corrections to the Higgs boson couplings in the Higgs triplet model

We calculate Higgs coupling constants at one-loop level in the Higgs triplet model (HTM) to compare to future collider experiments. We evaluate the decay rate of the standard model (SM)-like Higgs boson ($h$) into diphoton. Renormalized Higgs couplings with the weak gauge bosons $hVV$ ($V=W$\ and\ $Z$) and the trilinear coupling $hhh$ are also calculated at the one-loop level in the on-shell scheme. The event rate of the $pp\rightarrow h \rightarrow γγ$ channel in the HTM to the one in the SM can cover the value from the recent LHC data. We find that in the allowed parameter region by the current data, deviations in the one-loop corrected $hVV$ and $hhh$ vertices can be about -1% and +50%, respectively. Magnitudes of these deviations can be enough significant to compare with the precision future data at the International Linear Collider.

Radiative corrections to the Higgs couplings in the triplet model

The feature of extended Higgs models can appear in the pattern of deviations from the Standard Model (SM) predictions in coupling constants of the SM-like Higgs boson ($h$). We can thus discriminate extended Higgs models by precisely measuring the pattern of deviations in the coupling constants of $h$, even when extra bosons are not found directly. In order to compare the theoretical predictions to the future precision data at the ILC, we must evaluate the theoretical predictions with radiative corrections in various extended Higgs models. In this talk, we give our comprehensive study for radiative corrections to various Higgs boson couplings of $h$ in the minimal Higgs triplet model (HTM). First, we define renormalization conditions in the model, and we calculate the Higgs coupling; $gγγ, hWW, hZZ$ and $hhh$ at the one loop level. We then evaluate deviations in coupling constants of the SM-like Higgs boson from the predictions in the SM. We find that one-loop contributions to these couplings are substantial as compared to their expected measurement accuracies at the ILC. Therefore the HTM has a possibility to be distinguished from the other models by comparing the pattern of deviations in the Higgs boson couplings.

Radiative corrections to the Higgs boson couplings in the triplet model

We calculate a full set of one-loop corrections to the Higgs boson coupling constants as well as the electroweak parameters. We compute the decay rate of the standard model (SM)-like Higgs boson ($h$) into diphoton. Renormalized Higgs couplings with the weak gauge bosons $hVV$ ($V=W$ and $Z$) and the trilinear coupling $hhh$ are also calculated at the one-loop level in the on-shell scheme. Magnitudes of the deviations in these quantities are evaluated in the parameter regions where the unitarity and vacuum stability bounds are satisfied and the predicted W boson mass at the one-loop level is consistent with the data. We find that there are strong correlations among deviations in the Higgs boson couplings $hγγ$, $hVV$ and $hhh$. For example, if the event number of the $pp\to h\toγγ$ channel deviates by +30% (-40%) from the SM prediction, deviations in the one-loop corrected $hVV$ and $hhh$ vertices are predicted about -0.1% (-2%) and -10% $(+150%)$, respectively. The model can be discriminated from the other models by measuring these coupling constants accurately at future collider experiments.

Renormalization of the Higgs sector in the triplet model

We study radiative corrections to the mass spectrum and the triple Higgs boson coupling in the model with an additional Y=1 triplet field. In this model, the vacuum expectation value for the triplet field is strongly constrained from the electroweak precision data, under which characteristic mass spectrum appear at the tree level; i.e., $m_{H^{++}}^2-m_{H^+}^2\simeq m_{H^+}^2-m_A^2$ and $m_A^2\simeq m_H^2$, where the CP-even ($H$), the CP-odd ($A$) and the doubly-charged ($H^{\pm\pm}$) as well as the singly-charged ($H^\pm$) Higgs bosons are the triplet-like. We evaluate how the tree-level formulae are modified at the one-loop level. The $hhh$ coupling for the standard model-like Higgs boson ($h$) is also calculated at the one-loop level. One-loop corrections to these quantities can be large enough for identification of the model by future precision data at the LHC or the International Linear Collider.
