A Universal HKR Theorem

In this work we study the failure of the HKR theorem over rings of positive and mixed characteristic. For this we construct a filtered circle interpolating between the usual topological circle and a formal version of it. By mapping to schemes we produce this way an interpolation, realized in practice by the existence of a natural filtration, from Hochschild and (a filtered version of) cyclic homology to derived de Rham cohomology. In particular, we show that this recovers the filtration of Antieau and Bhatt-Morrow-Scholze. The construction of our filtered circle is based on the theory of affine stacks and affinization introduced by the third author, together with some facts about schemes of Witt vectors.

A lemma for microlocal sheaf theory in the $\infty$-categorical setting

Microlocal sheaf theory of \cite{KS90} makes an essential use of an extension lemma for sheaves due to Kashiwara, and this lemma is based on a criterion of the same author giving conditions in order that a functor defined in $\mathbb{R}$ with values in the category $Sets$ of sets be constant. In a first part of this paper, using classical tools, we show how to generalize the extension lemma to the case of the unbounded derived category. In a second part, we extend Kashiwara's result on constant functors by replacing the category $Sets$ with the $\infty$-category of spaces and apply it to generalize the extension lemma to $\infty$-sheaves, the $\infty$-categorical version of sheaves. Finally, we define the micro-support of sheaves with values in a stable $(\infty,1)$-category.

Noncommutative Motives I: A Universal Characterization of the Motivic Stable Homotopy Theory of Schemes

Let $\V$ be a symmetric monoidal model category and let $X$ be an object in $\V$. From this we can construct a new symmetric monoidal model category $Sp^Σ(\V,X)$ of symmetric spectra objects in $\V$ with respect to $X$, together with a left Quillen monoidal map $\V\to Sp^Σ(\V,X)$ sending $X$ to an invertible object. In this paper we use the recent developments in the subject of Higher Algebra to understand the nature of this construction. Every symmetric monoidal model category has an underlying symmetric monoidal $(\infty,1)$-category and the first notion should be understood as a mere "presentation" of the second. Our main result is the characterization of the underlying symmetric monoidal $\infty$-category of $Sp^Σ(\V,X)$, by means of a universal property inside the world of symmetric monoidal $(\infty,1)$-categories. In the process we also describe the link between the construction of ordinary spectra and the one of symmetric spectra. As a corollary, we obtain a precise universal characterization for the motivic stable homotopy theory of schemes with its symmetric monoidal structure. This characterization trivializes the problem of finding motivic monoidal realizations and opens the way to compare the motivic theory of schemes with other motivic theories. As an application we provide a new approach to the theory of noncommutative motives by constructing a stable motivic homotopy theory for the noncommutative spaces of Kontsevich. For that we introduce an analogue for the Nisnevich topology in the noncommutative setting. Our universal property for the classical theory for schemes provides a canonical monoidal map towards these new noncommutative motives and allows us to compare the two theories.

Noncommutative Motives II: K-Theory and Noncommutative Motives

We continue the work initiated in arXiv:1206.3645, where we introduced a new stable symmetric monoidal $(\infty,1)$-category $SH_{nc}$ encoding a motivic stable homotopy theory for the noncommutative spaces of Kontsevich and obtained a canonical monoidal colimit-preserving functor $SH\to SH_{nc}$ relating this new theory to the $(\infty,1)$-category encoding the stable motivic $\mathbb{A}^1$ theory of Morel-Voevodsky. For a scheme $X$ this map recovers the dg-derived category of perfect complexes $L_{pe}(X)$. In this sequel we address the study of the different flavours of algebraic $K$-theory of dg-categories. As in the commutative case, these can be understood as spectral valued $\infty$-presheaves over the category of noncommutative smooth spaces and therefore provide objects in $SH_{nc}$ once properly localized. Our first main result is the description of non-connective $K$-theory of dg-categories introduced by Schlichting as the noncommutative Nisnevich sheafification of connective $K$-theory. In particular it follows that its further $\mathbb{A}^1$-localization is an object in $SH_{nc}$. As a corollary of the recent result in A. Blanc Phd thesis, we prove that this object is a unit for the monoidal structure. Using this, we obtain a precise proof for a conjecture of Kontsevich claiming that $K$-theory gives the correct mapping spaces in noncommutative motives. As a second corollary we obtain a factorization of our comparison map $SH\to SH_{nc}$ through $Mod_{KH}(SH)$ - the $(\infty,1)$-category of modules over the commutative algebra object $KH$ representing homotopy invariant algebraic $K$-theory of schemes in $SH$. If $k$ is a field admitting resolutions of singularities, this factorization is fully faithful, so that, at the motivic level, no information (below $K$-theory) is lost by passing to the noncommutative world.
