Automorphisms of the Koszul homology of a local ring

This work concerns the Koszul complex KK of a commutative noetherian local ring RR, with its natural structure as differential graded RR-algebra. It is proved that under diverse conditions, involving the multiplicative structure of H(K)H(K), any dg RR-algebra automorphism of KK induces the identity map on H(K)H(K). In such cases, it is possible to define an action of the automorphism group of RR on H(K)H(K). On the other hand, numerous rings are described for which KK has automorphisms that do not induce the identity on H(K)H(K). For any RR, it is shown that the group of automorphisms of H(K)H(K) induced by automorphisms of KK is abelian.

Multiplicativity and nonrealizable equivariant chain complexes

Let GG be a finite pp-group and F\mathbb{F} a field of characteristic pp. We filter the cochain complex of a free GG-space with coefficients in F\mathbb{F} by powers of the augmentation ideal of FG\mathbb{F} G. We show that the cup product induces a multiplicative structure on the arising spectral sequence and compute the E1E_1-page as a bigraded algebra. As an application, we prove that recent counterexamples of Iyengar and Walker to an algebraic version of Carlsson's conjecture can not be realized topologically.

Free (Z/p)n(\mathbb{Z}/p)^n-complexes and pp-DG modules

We reformulate the problem of bounding the total rank of the homology of perfect chain complexes over the group ring Fp[G]\mathbb{F}_p[G] of an elementary abelian pp-group GG in terms of commutative algebra. This extends results of Carlsson for p=2p=2 to all primes. As an intermediate step, we construct an embedding of the derived category of perfect chain complexes over Fp[G]\mathbb{F}_p[G] into the derived category of pp-DG modules over a polynomial ring.
