Hall effect in doped Mott insulator: DMFT-approximation

In the framework of dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) we analyze Hall effect in doped Mott insulator as a parent cuprate superconductor. We consider the partial filling (hole doping) of the lower Hubbard band and calculate the dependence of Hall coefficient and Hall number on hole doping, determining the critical concentration for sign change of the Hall coefficient. Significant temperature dependence of Hall effect is noted. A good agreement is demonstrated with concentration dependence of Hall number obtained in experiments in the normal state of YBCO.

Antiadiabatic Phonons and Superconductivity in Eliashberg-McMillan Theory

The standard Eliashberg - McMillan theory of superconductivity is essentially based on the adiabatic approximation. Here we present some simple estimates of electron - phonon interaction within Eliashberg - McMillan approach in non - adiabatic and even antiadiabatic situation, when characteristic phonon frequency $Ω_0$ becomes large enough, i.e. comparable or exceeding the Fermi energy $E_F$. We discuss the general definition of Eliashberg - McMillan (pairing) electron - phonon coupling constant $λ$, taking into account the finite value of phonon frequencies. We show that the mass renormalization of electrons is in general determined by different coupling constant $\tildeλ$, which takes into account the finite width of conduction band, and describes the smooth transition from the adiabatic regime to the region of strong nonadiabaticity. In antiadiabatic limit, when $Ω_0\gg E_F$, the new small parameter of perturbation theory is $λ\frac{E_F}{Ω_0}\simλ\frac{D}{Ω_0}\ll 1$ ($D$ is conduction band half -- width), and corrections to electronic spectrum (mass renormalization) become irrelevant. However, the temperature of superconducting transition $T_c$ in antiadiabatic limit is still determined by Eliashberg - McMillan coupling constant $λ$. We consider in detail the model with discrete set of (optical) phonon frequencies. A general expression for superconducting transition temperature $T_c$ is derived, which is valid in situation, when one (or several) of such phonons becomes antiadiabatic. We also analyze the contribution of such phonons into the Coulomb pseudopotential $μ^{\star}$ and show, that antiadiabatic phonons do not contribute to Tolmachev's logarithm and its value is determined by partial contributions from adiabatic phonons only.

Attractive Hubbard Model: Homogeneous Ginzburg - Landau Expansion and Disorder

We derive Ginzburg - Landau (GL) expansion in disordered attractive Hubbard model within the combined Nozieres - Schmitt-Rink and DMFT+Sigma approximation. Restricting ourselves to the case of homogeneous expansion, we analyze disorder dependence of GL expansion coefficients on disorder for the wide range of attractive potentials U, from weak BCS coupling region to the strong coupling limit, where superconductivity is described by Bose - Einstein condensation (BEC) of preformed Cooper pairs. We show, that for the case of semi - elliptic "bare" density of states of conduction band, disorder influence on GL coefficients A and B before quadratic and fourth -- order terms of the order parameter, as well as on the specific heat discontinuity at superconducting transition, is of universal nature at any strength of attractive interaction and is related only to the general widening of the conduction band by disorder. In general, disorder growth increases the values of coefficients A and B, leading either to the suppression of specific heat discontinuity (in the weak coupling limit), or to its significant growth (in the strong coupling region). However, this behavior actually confirms the validity of the generalized Anderson theorem, as disorder dependence of superconducting critical temperature T_c, is also controlled only by disorder widening of conduction band (density of states).

DMFT+Sigma approach to disordered Hubbard model

We briefly review the generalized dynamical mean-field theory DMFT+Sigma treatment of both repulsive and attractive disordered Hubbard models. We examine the general problem of metal-insulator transition and the phase diagram in repulsive case, as well as BCS-BEC crossover region of attractive model, demonstrating certain universality of single - electron properties under disordering in both models. We also discuss and compare the results for the density of states and dynamic conductivity in both repulsive and attractive case and the generalized Anderson theorem behavior for superconducting critical temperature in disordered attractive case. A brief discussion of Ginzburg - Landau coefficients behavior under disordering in BCS-BEC crossover region is also presented.

Electronic structure of NaFeAs superconductor: LDA+DMFT calculations compared with ARPES experiment

We present the results of extended theoretical LDA+DMFT calculations for a new iron-pnictide high temperature superconductor NaFeAs compared with the recent high quality angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) experiments on this system [1]. The universal manifestation of correlation effects in iron-pnictides is narrowing of conducting bands near the Fermi level. Our calculations demonstrate that for NaFeAs the effective mass is renormalized on average by a factor of the order of 3, in good agreement with ARPES data. This is essentially due to correlation effects on Fe-3d orbitals only and no additional interactions with with any kind of Boson modes, as suggested in [1], are necessary to describe the experiment. Also we show that ARPES data taken at about 160 eV beam energy most probably corresponds to $k_z=π$ Brillouin zone boundary, while ARPES data measured at about 80 eV beam energy rather represents $k_z=0$. Contributions of different Fe-3d orbitals into spectral function map are also discussed.

Electronic and Magnetic Properties of the New Iron -- Based Superconductor [Li$_{1-x}$Fe$_x$OH]FeSe

We present the results of paramagnetic LDA band structure calculations: band dispersions, densities of states and Fermi surfaces, for the new iron based high-temperature superconductor LiOHFeSe. Main structural motif providing bands in the vicinity of the Fermi level is FeSe layer which is isostructural to the bulk FeSe prototype superconductor. The bands crossing the Fermi level and Fermi surfaces of the new compound are typical for other iron based superconductors. Experimentally it was shown that introduction of Fe ions into LiOH layer gives rise to ferromagnetic ordering of the Fe ions at T$_C$=10K. To study magnetic properties of [Li$_{0.8}$Fe$_{0.2}$OH]FeSe system we have performed LSDA calculations for $\sqrt 5 \times \sqrt 5$ superlattice and found ferromagnetism within the Li$_4$Fe(OH) layer. To estimate the Curie temperature we obtained Fe-Fe exchange interaction parameters for Heisenberg model from our LSDA calculations, leading to theoretical value of Curie temperature 10.4K in close agreement with experiment.

Electronic structure of iron-based superconductors: from pnictides to chalcogenides and other similar systems

This review discusses and compares electronic spectra of new iron-based high-temperature superconductors (HTSC), as well as a number of chemically similar compounds. Particular attention is payed to iron chalcogenide K_{1-x}Fe_{2-y}Se_2, which is isostructural to BaFe_2As_2 (122) pnictide. It is shown, that Fermi surfaces of K_{1-x}Fe_{2-y}Se_2 are essentially different from those for pnictides. Using LDA+DMFT and LDA'+DMFT calculations we show, that electronic correlations in K_{1-x}Fe_{2-y}Se_2 influence the electronic structure much more significantly, than in the most studied 122 system. We also discuss the electronic structure of several multiple-band superconductors, chemically similar to iron-based HTSC, with relatively small values of $T_c$, such as SrPt_{2}As_{2}, APt_{3}P, (Sr,Ca)Pd_2As_2, and non superconducting compound BaFe_2Se_3. It is shown, that electronic structure of these systems is very different from previously studies iron pnictides and chalcogenides. The value of T_c in these systems can be understood within the simple BCS model.

Normal phase and superconducting instability in attractive Hubbard model: the DMFT(NRG) study

We study the normal (non-superconducting) phase of attractive Hubbard model within dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) using numerical renormalization group (NRG) as impurity solver. Wide range of attractive potentials $U$ is considered, from the weak-coupling limit, where superconducting instability is well described by BCS approximation, up to the strong-coupling region, where superconducting transition is described by Bose-condensation of compact Cooper pairs, which are formed at temperatures much exceeding superconducting transition temperature. We calculate density of states, spectral density and optical conductivity in the normal phase for this wide range of $U$, including the disorder effects. Also we present the results on superconducting instability of the normal state dependence on the attraction strength $U$ and the degree of disorder. Disorder influence on the critical temperature $T_c$ is rather weak, suggesting in fact the validity of Anderson theorem, with the account of the general widening of the conduction band due to disorder.

Comparative Study of Electronic structure of New Superconductors (Sr,Ca)Pd2As2 and related compound BaPd2As2

This paper presents the comparative study of LDA calculated electronic structure of new isostructural to iron based systems superconductors (Sr,Ca)Pd2As2 with Tc about 1K and similar but structurally different system BaPd2As2. Despite chemical formula looks similar to iron superconductors and even main structural motif is the same - layers of Fe square lattices, electronic structure of (Sr,Ca)Pd2As2 and BaPd2As2 differs from Fe(As,Se)-HTSC completely. All these systems have essentially three dimensional Fermi surfaces in contrast to Fe(As,Se) materials. The Fermi level is crossed by low intensive tails of Pd-4d and As-4p states. However (Sr,Ca)Pd2As2 and BaPd2As2 materials have rather well developed peaks of Pd-4d(x2-y2) band. Thus by doping of about 2 holes per unit cell one can increase density of states at the Fermi level by a factor about 2.5. Since experimentally these compounds were found to be simple BCS superconductors the hole doping may considerably increase Tc. LDA calculated total densities of states at the Fermi level for stoichiometric systems perfectly agree with experimental estimates signifying rather small role of electronic correlations.

Doping Dependence of Correlation Effects in K{1-x}Fe{2-y}Se2 Superconductor: LDA'+DMFT Investigation

We present detailed LDA'+DMFT investigation of doping dependence of correlation effects in novel K{1-x}Fe{2-y}Se2 superconductor. Calculations were performed at four different hole doping levels, starting from hypothetical stoichiometric composition with total number of electrons equal to 29 per unit cell through 28 and 27.2 electrons towards the case of 26.52, which corresponds to chemical composition K{0.76}Fe{1.72}Se2 studied in recent ARPES experiments. In general case the increase of hole doping leads to quasiparticle bands in wide energy window +/-2 eV around the Fermi level becoming more broadened by lifetime effects, while correlation induced compression of Fe-3d LDA' bandwidths stays almost the same and of the order of ~1.3 for all hole concentrations. However close to the Fermi level situation is more complicated. Here in the energy interval from -1.0 eV to 0.4 eV the bare Fe-3d LDA' bands are compressed by significantly larger renormalization factors up to 5 with hole doping increase, while the value of Coulomb interaction remains the same. This fact manifests the increase of correlation effects with hole doping in K{1-x}Fe{2-y}Se2 system. Moreover in contrast to typical pnictides K{1-x}Fe{2-y}Se2 does not have well defined quasiparticle bands on the Fermi leves but pseudogap like "dark" region instead. We also find that with the growth of hole doping Fe-3d orbitals of various symmetries are affected by correlations in a different way in different parts of Brillouin zone. To illustrate this we determine quasiparticle mass renormalization factors and energy shifts, which transform the bare Fe-3d LDA' bands of various symmetries into LDA'+DMFT quasiparticle bands. These renormalization factors effectively mimic more complicated energy dependent self-energy effects and can be used to analyze the available ARPES data.

Consistent LDA'+DMFT -- an unambiguous way to avoid double counting problem: NiO test

We present a consistent way of treating a double counting problem unavoidably arising within the LDA+DMFT combined approach to realistic calculations of electronic structure of strongly correlated systems. The main obstacle here is the absence of systematic (e.g. diagrammatic) way to express LDA (local density approximation) contribution to exchange correlation energy appearing in the density functional theory. It is not clear then, which part of interaction entering DMFT (dynamical mean-field theory) is already taken into account through LDA calculations. Because of that, up to now there is no accepted unique expression for the double counting correction in LDA+DMFT. To avoid this problem we propose here the consistent LDA'+DMFT approach, where LDA exchange correlation contribution is explicitly excluded for correlated states (bands) during self-consistent band structure calculations. What is left out of Coulomb interaction for those strongly correlated states (bands) is its non-local part, which is not included in DMFT, and the local Hartree like contribution. Then the double counting correction is uniquely reduced to the local Hartree contribution. Correlations for strongly correlated states are then directly accounted for via the standard DMFT. We further test the consistent LDA'+DMFT scheme and compare it with conventional LDA+DMFT calculating the electronic structure of NiO. Opposite to the conventional LDA+DMFT our consistent LDA'+DMFT approach unambiguously produces the insulating band structure in agreement with experiments.

Consistent LDA'+DMFT approach to electronic structure of transition metal oxides: charge transfer insulators and correlated metals

We discuss the recently proposed LDA'+DMFT approach providing consistent parameter free treatment of the so called double counting problem arising within the LDA+DMFT hybrid computational method for realistic strongly correlated materials. In this approach the local exchange-correlation portion of electron-electron interaction is excluded from self consistent LDA calculations for strongly correlated electronic shells, e.g. d-states of transition metal compounds. Then the corresponding double counting term in LDA+DMFT Hamiltonian is consistently set in the local Hartree (fully localized limit - FLL) form of the Hubbard model interaction term. We present the results of extensive LDA'+DMFT calculations of densities of states, spectral densities and optical conductivity for most typical representatives of two wide classes of strongly correlated systems in paramagnetic phase: charge transfer insulators (MnO, CoO and NiO) and strongly correlated metals (SrVO3 and Sr2RuO4). It is shown that for NiO and CoO systems LDA'+DMFT qualitatively improves the conventional LDA+DMFT results with FLL type of double counting, where CoO and NiO were obtained to be metals. We also include in our calculations transition metal 4s-states located near the Fermi level missed in previous LDA+DMFT studies of these monooxides. General agreement with optical and X-ray experiments is obtained. For strongly correlated metals LDA$^\prime$+DMFT results agree well with earlier LDA+DMFT calculations and existing experiments. However, in general LDA'+DMFT results give better quantitative agreement with experimental data for band gap sizes and oxygen states positions, as compared to the conventional LDA+DMFT.

Electronic Structure of New Multiple Band Pt-Pnictide Superconductors APt3P

We report LDA calculated band structure, densities of states and Fermi surfaces for recently discovered Pt-pnictide superconductors APt3P (A=Ca,Sr,La), confirming their multiple band nature. Electronic structure is essentially three dimensional, in contrast to Fe pnictides and chalcogenides. LDA calculated Sommerfeld coefficient agrees rather well with experimental data, leaving little space for very strong coupling superconductivity, suggested by experimental data on specific heat of SrPt3P. Elementary estimates show, that the values of critical temperature can be explained by rather weak or moderately strong coupling, while the decrease of superconducting transition temperature Tc from Sr to La compound can be explained by corresponding decrease of total density of states at the Fermi level N(E_F). The shape of the density of states near the Fermi level suggests that in SrPt3P electron doping (such as replacement Sr by La) decreases N(E_F) and Tc, while hole doping (e.g. partial replacement of Sr with K, Rb or Cs, if possible) would increase N(E_F) and possibly Tc.

LDA'+DMFT Investigation of Electronic Structure of K{1-x}Fe{2-y}Se2 Superconductor

We investigate electronic structure of the new iron chalcogenide high temperature superconductor K{1-x}Fe{2-y}Se2 (hole doped case with x=0.24, y=0.28) in the normal phase using the novel LDA'+DMFT computational approach. We show that this iron chalcogenide is more correlated in a sense of bandwidth renormalization (energy scale compression by factor about 5 in the interval +/-1.5 eV), than typical iron pnictides (compression factor about 2), though the Coulomb interaction strength is almost the same in both families. Our results for spectral densities are in general agreement with recent ARPES data on this system. It is found that all Fe-3d(t2g) bands crossing the Fermi level have equal renormalization, in contrast to some previous interpretations. Electronic states at the Fermi level are of predominantly xy symmetry. Also we show that LDA'+DMFT results are in better agreement with experimental spectral function maps, than the results of conventional LDA+DMFT. Finally we make predictions for photoemission spectra lineshape for K{0.76}Fe{1.72}Se2.

Electronic and Magnetic Structure of Possible Iron Based Superconductor BaFe2Se3

We present results of LDA calculations (band structure, densities of states, Fermi surfaces) for possible iron based superconductor BaFe2Se3 (Ba123) in normal (paramagnetic) phase. Results are briefly compared with similar data on prototype BaFe2As2 and (K,Cs)Fe2Se2 superconductors. Without doping this system is antiferromagnetic with T_N^{exp}~250K and rather complicated magnetic structure. Neutron diffraction experiments indicated the possibility of two possible spin structures (antiferromagnetically ordered "plaquettes" or "zigzags"), indistinguishable by neutron scattering. Using LSDA calculated exchange parameters we estimate Neel temperatures for both spin structures within the molecular field approximation and show τ_1 ("plaquettes") spin configuration to be more favorable than τ_2 ("zigzags").

Electronic structure of two-dimensional hexagonal diselenides: charge density waves and pseudogap behavior

We present theoretical study of electronic structure (spectral functions and Fermi surfaces) for incommensurate pseudogap and charge density wave (CDW) and commensurate CDW phases of quasi two dimensional diselenides 2H-TaSe2 and 2H-NbSe2. Incommensurate pseudogap regime is described within the scenario based on short-range order CDW fluctuations, considered within the static Gaussian random field model. In contrast e.g. to high-Tc cuprates layered dichalcogenides have several different CDW scattering vectors and electronic spectrum with two bands at the Fermi level. To this end we present theoretical background for the description of multiple scattering processes within multiple bands electronic spectrum. Thus obtained theoretical spectral functions and Fermi surfaces are compared with recent ARPES experimental data, demonstrating rather good qualitative agreement.

Generalized dynamical mean-field theory in physics of strongly correlated systems

This review is devoted to generalization of dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) for strongly correlated electronic systems towards the account of different types of additional interactions, necessary for correct physical description of many experimentally observed phenomena in such systems. As additional interactions we consider: (1) interaction of electrons with antiferromagnetic (or charge) fluctuations of order parameter in high-Tc superconductors leading to the formation of pseudogap state, (2) scattering of electrons on static disorder and its role in general picture of Anderson-Hubbard metal-insulator transition, (3) electron-phonon interaction and corresponding anomalies of electronic spectra in strongly correlated systems. Proposed DMFT+Sigma approach is based on taking into account above mentioned interactions by introducing additional self-energy Sigma (in general momentum dependent) into conventional DMFT scheme and calculated in a self-consistent way within the standard set of DMFT equations. Here we formulate general scheme of calculation of both one-particle (spectral functions and densities of states) and two-particle (optical conductivity) properties. We examine the problem of pseudogap formation, including the Fermi arc formation and partial destruction of the Fermi surface, metal-insulator transition in disordered Anderson-Hubbard model, and general picture of kink formation within electronic spectra in strongly correlated systems. DMFT+Sigma approach is generalized to describe realistic materials with strong electron-electron correlations based on LDA+DMFT method. General scheme of LDA+DMFT method is presented together with some of its applications to real systems. The LDA+DMFT+Sigma approach is employed to modelling of pseudogap state of electron and hole doped high-T_c cuprates. Comparison with variety of ARPES experiments is given.

Iron Based Superconductors: Pnictides versus Chalcogenides

We present a brief review of the present day situation with studies of high-temperature superconductivity in iron pnictides and chalcogenides. Recent discovery of superconductivity with T_c > 30 K in A_xFe_{2-x/2}Se_2 (A=K,Cs,Tl,...) represents the major new step in the development of new concepts in the physics of Fe - based high-temperature superconductors. We compare LDA and ARPES data on the band structure and Fermi surfaces of novel superconductors and those of the previously studied FeAs superconductors, especially isostructural 122 - superconductors like BaFe_2As_2. It appears that electronic structure of new superconductors is rather different from that of FeAs 122 - systems. In particular, no nesting properties of electron and hole - like Fermi surfaces is observed, casting doubts on most popular theoretical schemes of Cooper pairing for these systems. The discovery of Fe vacancies ordering and antiferromagnetic (AFM) ordering at pretty high temperatures (T_N> 500 K), much exceeding superconducting T_c makes these systems unique antiferromagnetic superconductors with highest T_N observed up to now. We discuss the role of both vacancies and AFM ordering in transformations of band structure and Fermi surfaces, as well as their importance for superconductivity. In particular, we show that system remains metallic with unfolded Fermi surfaces quite similar to that in paramagnetic state. Superconducting transition temperature T_c of new superconductors is discussed within the general picture of superconductivity in multiple band systems. It is demonstrated that both in FeAs - superconductors and in new FeSe - systems the value of T_c correlates with the value of the total density of states (DOS) at the Fermi level.

Anion height dependence of Tc and density of states in iron based superconductors

Systematic ab initio LDA calculations were performed for all the typical representatives of recently discovered class of iron based high-temperature superconductors: REOFe(As,P) (RE=La,Ce,Nd,Sm,Tb), Ba2Fe2As, (Sr,Ca)FFeAs, Sr4Sc2O6Fe2P2, LiFeAs and Fe(Se,Te). Non-monotonic behavior of total density of states at the Fermi level is observed as a function of anion height relative to Fe layer with maximum at about Dz_a~1.37A, attributed to changing Fe - As (P,Se,Te) hybridization. This leads to a similar dependence of superconducting transition temperature Tc as observed in the experiments. The fit of this dependence to elementary BCS theory produces semiquantitative agreement with experimental data for Tc for the whole class of iron based superconductors. The similar fit to Allen - Dynes formula underestimates Tc in the vicinity of the maximum, signifying the possible importance of non - phonon pairing in this region. These results unambiguously demonstrate that the main effect of Tc variation between different types of iron based superconductors is due to the corresponding variation of the density of states at the Fermi level.

Electronic structure and possible pseudogap behavior in iron based superconductors

Starting from the simplified analytic model of electronic spectrum of iron - pnictogen (chalcogen) high - temperature superconductors close to the Fermi level, we discuss the influence of antiferromagneting (AFM)scattering both for stoichiometric case and the region of possible short - range order AFM fluctuations in doped compounds. Qualitative picture of the evolution of electronic spectrum and Fermi surfaces (FS) for different dopings is presented, with the aim of comparison with existing and future ARPES experiments. Both electron and hole dopings are considered and possible pseudogap behavior connected with partial FS "destruction" is demonstrated, explaining some recent experiments.

Electronic Structure, Topological Phase Transitions and Superconductivity in (K,Cs)xFe2Se2

We present LDA band structure of novel hole doped high temperature superconductors (Tc~30K) KxFe2Se2 and CsxFe2Se2 and compare it with previously studied electronic structure of isostructural FeAs superconductor BaFe2As2 (Ba122). We show that stoichiometric KFe2Se2 and CsFe2Se2 have rather different Fermi surfaces as compared with Ba122. However at about 60% of hole doping Fermi surfaces of novel materials closely resemble those of Ba122. In between these dopings we observe a number of topological Fermi surface transitions near the G point in the Brillouin zone. Superconducting transition temperature Tc of new systems is apparently governed by the value of the total density of states (DOS) at the Fermi level.

Interplay of electron-phonon interaction and strong correlations: DMFT+Sigma approach

We discuss interaction of strongly correlated electrons (described within the Hubbard model solved by dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT)) with Debye and Einstein phonons using recently developed DMFT+Sigma computational scheme. Electron-phonon interaction (EPI) is analyzed in adiabatic approximation (assuming the validity of Migdal theorem), allowing the neglect of EPI vertex corrections. This approach is valid for EPI coupling constant L < e_F/w_ph~10, where e_F is Fermi energy and w_ph is Debye or Einstein frequency. For moderate values of L only small changes in the electronic density of states are observed in DMFT+Sigma approximation for both weakly and strongly correlated metallic regimes. Metal-insulator (Mott) transition due to the increase of Hubbard interaction U is slightly inhibited by EPI. Our main aim is to discuss the interplay of "kinks" in electronic dispersion due to EPI and recently discovered kinks of electronic origin. For the certain region of model parameters coexistence of phonon "kinks" in electronic dispersion with purely electronic "kinks" is readily observed and we formulate some simple criteria of such coexistence. However, for most general combinations of model parameters phonon "kinks" make electronic "kinks" hardly observable. In the general case an increase of Hubbard interaction U rapidly suppresses the slope of electronic dispersion within the phonon "kink". These results are important for deeper understanding of the shape and evolution of electronic dispersions in strongly correlated systems such as copper oxides, where different kinds of "kinks" were recently observed in ARPES experiments.

Novel multiple-band superconductor SrPt2As2

We present LDA calculated electronic structure of recently discovered superconductor SrPt2As2 with Tc=5.2K. Despite its chemical composition and crystal structure are somehow similar to FeAs-based high-temperature superconductors, the electronic structure of SrPt2As2 is very much different. Crystal structure is orthorhombic (or tetragonal if idealized) and has layered nature with alternating PtAs4 and AsPt4 tetrahedra slabs sandwiched with Sr ions. The Fermi level is crossed by Pt-5d states with rather strong admixture of As-4p states. Fermi surface of SrPt2As2 is essentially three dimensional, with complicated sheets corresponding to multiple bands. We compare SrPt2As2 with 1111 and 122 representatives of FeAs-class of superconductors, as well as with isovalent (Ba,Sr)Ni2As2 superconductors. Brief discussion of superconductivity in SrPt2As2 is also presented.

Pseudogap phase of high-Tc compounds described within the LDA+DMFT+Sigma approach

LDA+DMFT+Sigma_k approach was applied to describe pseudogap phase of several prototype high-Tc compounds e.g. hole doped Bi2212 and LSCO systems and electron doped NCCO and PCCO, demonstrating qualitative difference of the Fermi surfaces (FS) for these systems. Namely for Bi2212 and LSCO the so called "hot-spots" (intersection of a bare FS and AFM Brillouin zone (BZ) boundary), where scattering on pseudogap fluctuations is most intensive were not observed. Instead here we have Fermi arcs with smeared FS close to the BZ boundary. However for NCCO and PCCO "hot-spots" are clearly visible. This qualitative difference is shown to have material specific origin. Good agreement with known ARPES data was demon strated not only for FS maps but also for spectral function maps (quasiparticle bands in cluding lifetime and interaction broadening).

ARPES spectral functions and Fermi surface for La(1.86)Sr(0.14)CuO(4) compared with LDA+DMFT+Sk calculations

Slightly underdoped high-Tc system La(1.86)Sr(0.14)CuO(4) (LSCO) is studied by means of high energy high resolution angular resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and combined computational scheme LDA+DMFT+Sk. Corresponding one band Hubbard model is solved via dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT), while model parameters needed are obtained from first principles within local density approximation (LDA). An "external" k-dependent self-energy Sk describes interaction of correlated electrons with antiferromagnetic (AFM) pseudogap fluctuations. Experimental and theoretical data clearly show "destruction" of the LSCO Fermi surface in the vicinity of the (pi,0) point and formation of "Fermi arcs" in the nodal directions. ARPES energy distribution curves (EDC) as well as momentum distribution curves (MDC) demonstrate deviation of the quasiparticle band from the Fermi level around (pi,0) point. The same behavior of spectral functions follows from theoretical calculations suggesting AFM origin of the pseudogap state.

Multiple Bands - A Key to High - Temperature Superconductivity in Iron Arsenides?

In the framework of four-band model of superconductivity in iron arsenides proposed by Barzykin and Gor'kov we analyze the gap ratios on hole - like and electron - like Fermi - surface cylinders. It is shown that experimentally observed (ARPES) gap ratios can be obtained only within rather strict limits on the values of pairing coupling constants. The difference of T_c values in 1111 and 122 systems is reasonably explained by the relative values of partial densities of states. The multiple bands electronic structure of these systems leads to a significant enhancement of effective pairing coupling constant determining T_c, so that high enough T_c values can be achieved even for the case of rather small intraband and interband pairing interactions.

Two-dimensional Anderson-Hubbard model in DMFT+Sigma approximation

Density of states, dynamic (optical) conductivity and phase diagram of paramagnetic two-dimensional Anderson-Hubbard model with strong correlations and disorder are analyzed within the generalized dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT+Sigma approximation). Strong correlations are accounted by DMFT, while disorder is taken into account via the appropriate generalization of the self-consistent theory of localization. We consider the two-dimensional system with the rectangular "bare" density of states (DOS). The DMFT effective single impurity problem is solved by numerical renormalization group (NRG). Phases of "correlated metal", Mott insulator and correlated Anderson insulator are identified from the evolution of density of states, optical conductivity and localization length, demonstrating both Mott-Hubbard and Anderson metal-insulator transitions in two-dimensional systems of the finite size, allowing us to construct the complete zero-temperature phase diagram of paramagnetic Anderson-Hubbard model. Localization length in our approximation is practically independent of the strength of Hubbard correlations. However, the divergence of localization length in finite size two-dimensional system at small disorder signifies the existence of an effective Anderson transition.

Superconductivity in the "Hot Spots" Model of the Pseudogap State: Impurity Scattering and Phase Diagram

We analyze the anomalies of superconducting state (both s- and d-wave pairing) in the model of the pseudogap state induced by Heisenberg spin fluctuations of antiferromagnetic short-range order, and based on the scenario of strong scattering near the "hot spots" on the Fermi surface. We present microscopic derivation of Ginzburg-Landau expansion, taking into account all Feynman graphs of perturbation theory for electron interaction with fluctuations of short-range order and in the "ladder" approximation for electron scattering by normal (nonmagnetic) impurities. We determine the dependence of superconducting critical temperature T_c and other characteristics of a superconductor on the parameters of the pseudogap and impurity scattering. It is shown that within this model it is possible to explain the typical phase diagram of high- temperature superconductors.

Models of the Pseudogap State in Cuprates

We review a certain class of ("nearly") exactly solvable models of electronic spectrum of two-dimensional systems with fluctuations of short range order of "dielectric" (e.g. antiferromagnetic) or "superconducting" type, leading to the formation of anisotropic pseudogap state on certain parts of the Fermi surface. The models are based on recurrence procedure for one- and two-electron Green's functions which takes into account of all Feynman diagrams in perturbation series with the use of the approximate Ansatz for higher-order terms in this series. These models can be applied to calculation of spectral density, density of states and conductivity in the normal state, as well as to calculation of some properties of superconducting state.

Disorder Effects in Superconductors with Anisotropic Pairing: From Cooper Pairs to Compact Bosons

In the weak coupling BCS-approximation normal impurities do not influence superconducting T_{c} in significant manner in case of isotropic s-wave pairing. However, in case of d-wave pairing these are strongly pair-breaking. This fact is in rather strong contradiction with many experiments on disordered high-T_{c} superconductors assuming the d-wave nature of pairing in these systems. With the growth of electron attraction within the Cooper pair the system smoothly crosses over from BCS-pairs to compact Boson picture of superconductivity. As pairing strength grows and pairs become compact significant deviations from universal Abrikosov-Gorkov dependence of T_{c} on disorder appear in case of d-wave pairing with superconducting state becoming more stable than in the weak coupling case. As high-T_{c} superconductors are actually in the intermediate region with Cooper pairs size of the order of few interatomic lengths, these results can explain the relative stability of d-wave pairing under rather strong disordering.
