Accelerated Gaussian quantum state transfer between two remote mechanical resonators

The main challenge in deterministic quantum state transfer between remote mechanical resonators is the local decoherence and the transmission losses in the communication channel. In the path of overcoming this limitation, here we employ a shortcut to adiabatic passage protocol to devise a fast and reliable evolution path between two remote mechanical modes in separate optomechanical systems. A quantum state transfer between the two nodes is conceived by engineering their coupling to an intermediate fiber optical channel. The coupling pulses are operated such that the dark eigenmode of the system is decoupled from the fiber modes and transitions to the bright modes are compensated for by counterdiabatic drives. We show that one obtains a quantum state transfer with high fidelity for various Gaussian states. The efficiency is compared to that of adiabatic passage protocol in the presence of losses and noises. Our results show that while the adiabatic passage protocol is very sensitive to the decoherence, the shortcut to adiabaticity provides a robust and fast quantum state transfer even for small values of the coupling strength. The performance of both protocols are also investigated for the case of multimode fiber through numerical and an effective single-model model which is found by the elimination of off-resonant fiber modes. Our findings may pave the way for using optomechanical systems in the realization of continuous-variable Gaussian quantum state transfer.

A Bayesian comparison between $Λ$CDM and phenomenologically emergent dark energy models

In this work we examine the recently proposed phenomenological emergent dark energy (PEDE) model by \cite{Li:2019yem}, using the latest observational data in both expansion and perturbation levels. Applying the statistical Bayesian evidence as well as the AIC and BIC information criteria, we compare the PEDE model with the concordance $Λ$CDM model in both flat and non-flat universes. We combine the observational datasets as (i) expansion data (except CMB), (ii) expansion data (including CMB) and (iii) expansion data jointed to the growth rate dataset. Our statistical results show that the flat- $Λ$CDM model is still the best model. In the case of expansion data (including CMB), we observe that the flat- PEDE model is well consistent with observations as well as the concordance $Λ$CDM universe. While in the cases of (i) and (iii), the PEDE models in both of the flat and non-flat geometries are not favored. In particular, we see that in the perturbation level the PEDE model can not fit the observations as equally as standard $Λ$CDM cosmology. As the ability of the model, we show that the PEDE models can alleviate the tension of Hubble constant value appearing between the local observations and Planck inferred estimation in standard cosmology.

Agegraphic dark energy: growth index and cosmological implications

We study the main cosmological properties of the agegraphic dark energy model at the expansion and perturbation levels. Initially, using the latest cosmological data we implement a joint likelihood analysis in order to constrain the cosmological parameters. Then we test the performance of the agegraphic dark energy model at the perturbation level and we define its difference from the usual $Λ$CDM model. Within this context, we verify that the growth index of matter fluctuations depends on the choice of the considered agegraphic dark energy (homogeneous or clustered). In particular, assuming a homogeneous agegraphic dark energy we find, for the first time, that the asymptotic value of the growth index is $γ\approx 5/9$, which is close to that of the usual $Λ$ cosmology, $γ^{(Λ)} \approx 6/11$. Finally, if the distribution of dark energy is clustered then we obtain $γ\approx 1/2$ which is $\sim 8\%$ smaller than that of the $Λ$CDM model.

Electromagnetic-Magnetoelectric Duality for Waveguides

We develop a theory for waveguides that respects the duality of electromagnetism, namely the symmetry of the equations arising through inclusion of magnetic monopoles in addition to including electrons (electric monopoles). The term magnetoelectric potential is sometimes used to signify the magnetic-monopole induced dual to the usual electromagnetic potential. To this end, we introduce a general theory for describing modes and characteristics of waveguides based on mixed-monopole materials, with both electric and magnetic responses. Our theory accommodates exotic media such as double-negative, near-zero and zero-index materials, and we demonstrate that our general theory exhibits the electromagnetic duality that would arise if we were to incorporate magnetic monopoles into the media. We consider linear, homogeneous, isotropic waveguide materials with slab and cylindrical geometries. To ensure manifest electromagnetic duality, we construct generic electromagnetic susceptibilities that are dual in both electric charges and magnetic monopoles using a generalized Drude-Lorentz model that manifests this duality. Our model reduces to standard cases in appropriate limits. We consider metamaterials and metamaterial waveguides, as well as metal guides, as examples of waveguides constructed of mixed-monopole materials, to show the generality of our waveguide theory. In particular, we show that, in slab and cylindrical waveguides, exchanging electric and magnetic material properties leads to the exchange of transverse magnetic and transverse electric modes and dispersion equations, which suggests a good test of the potential duality of waveguides. This theory has the capability to predict waveguide behavior under an exchange of electromagnetic parameters from the dual waveguide.
