Tunable mode entanglement: topological Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) chain with an embedded Aharonov-Bohm quantum ring

We investigate a variant of the SSH model consisting of an SSH chain with an embedded Aharonov-Bohm quantum ring. The embedded ring gives rise to domain wall states whose energy levels are in the band gap. The dependence of some of the states on the ring's magnetic flux provides a mechanism to control the entanglement between the two SSH edge fermion modes. The concurrence between the edge modes depends periodically on the magnetic flux. In the deep topological zone, for appropriate values of the flux, the concurrence reaches the extreme values of $0$ and $1$, corresponding to vanishing entanglement and to maximum entanglement. Therefore, the QR-SSH system offers a tuning mechanism that can be used either as an entanglement modulator or as an entanglement switch.

Dicke and Fano effects in single photon transport

The single photon transport through a one dimensional array of cavities is studied theoretically. Analytical expressions of the reflection and transmission are given. The transmission shows an energy spectrum with forbidden and allowed bands that depends on the detuning parameter of the system. We show that the allowed miniband is formed due to the indirect coupling between the atoms in each cavity. In addition, the band edges can be controlled by the degree of detuning of the level of the atoms. We discuss the analogy between this phenomenon with the Fano and Dicke effects.

Enhancement of thermoelectric efficiency and violation of the Wiedemann-Franz law due to Fano effect

We consider the thermoelectric properties of a double-quantum-dot molecule coupled in parallel to metal electrodes with a magnetic flux threading the ring. By means of the Sommerfeld expansion we obtain analytical expressions for the electric and thermal conductances, thermopower and figure of merit for arbitrary values of the magnetic flux. We neglect electronic correlations. The Fano antiresonances in transmission demand that terms usually discarded in the Sommerfeld expansion are taken into account. We also explore the behavior of the Lorenz ratio L=κ/σT, where κ and σ are the thermal and electrical conductances and T the absolute temperature, and we discuss the reasons why the Wiedemann-Franz law fails in presence of Fano antiresonances.
