Quantum phase transitions in the Kondo-necklace model: Perturbative continuous unitary transformation approach

The Kondo-necklace model can describe magnetic low-energy limit of strongly correlated heavy fermion materials. There exist multiple energy scales in this model corresponding to each phase of the system. Here, we study quantum phase transition between the Kondo-singlet phase and the antiferromagnetic long-range ordered phase, and show the effect of anisotropies in terms of quantum information properties and vanishing energy gap. We employ the "perturbative continuous unitary transformations" approach to calculate the energy gap and spin-spin correlations for the model in the thermodynamic limit of one, two, and three spatial dimensions as well as for spin ladders. In particular, we show that the method, although being perturbative, can predict the expected quantum critical point, where the gap of low-energy spectrum vanishes, which is in good agreement with results of other numerical and Green's function analyses. In addition, we employ concurrence, a bipartite entanglement measure, to study the criticality of the model. Absence of singularities in the derivative of concurrence in two and three dimensions in the Kondo-necklace model shows that this model features multipartite entanglement. We also discuss crossover from the one-dimensional to the two-dimensional model via the ladder structure.

Topological Color Codes and Two-Body Quantum Lattice Hamiltonians

Topological color codes are among the stabilizer codes with remarkable properties from quantum information perspective. In this paper we construct a four-valent lattice, the so called ruby lattice, governed by a 2-body Hamiltonian. In a particular regime of coupling constants, degenerate perturbation theory implies that the low energy spectrum of the model can be described by a many-body effective Hamiltonian, which encodes the color code as its ground state subspace. The gauge symmetry $\mathbf{Z}_{2}\times\mathbf{Z}_{2}$ of color code could already be realized by identifying three distinct plaquette operators on the lattice. Plaquettes are extended to closed strings or string-net structures. Non-contractible closed strings winding the space commute with Hamiltonian but not always with each other giving rise to exact topological degeneracy of the model. Connection to 2-colexes can be established at the non-perturbative level. The particular structure of the 2-body Hamiltonian provides a fruitful interpretation in terms of mapping to bosons coupled to effective spins. We show that high energy excitations of the model have fermionic statistics. They form three families of high energy excitations each of one color. Furthermore, we show that they belong to a particular family of topological charges. Also, we use Jordan-Wigner transformation in order to test the integrability of the model via introducing of Majorana fermions. The four-valent structure of the lattice prevents to reduce the fermionized Hamiltonian into a quadratic form due to interacting gauge fields. We also propose another construction for 2-body Hamiltonian based on the connection between color codes and cluster states. We discuss this latter approach along the construction based on the ruby lattice.

Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interaction and Anisotropy effects on the Entanglement of Heisenberg Model

In this paper the the effect of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and anisotropy on the Entanglement of Heisenberg chain has been studied. While the anisotropy suppress the entanglement due to favoring of the alignment of spins, the DM interaction restores the spoiled entanglement via creation of the quantum fluctuations. Thermodynamic limit of the model and emerging of non-analytic behavior of the entanglement have also been probed. The singularities of the entanglement correspond to the critical boundary separating different phases of the model. The singularity of the entanglement derivative approaches the critical point from the gapped phase and will be symmetric if both phase on the boundary are gapped.

Interacting Anyonic Fermions in a Two-Body Color Code Model

We introduce a two-body quantum Hamiltonian model of spin-1/2 on a 2D spatial lattice with exact topological degeneracy in all coupling regimes. There exists a gapped phase in which the low-energy sector reproduces an effective color code model. High energy excitations fall into three families of anyonic fermions that turn out to be strongly interacting. The model exhibits a Z_2xZ_2 gauge group symmetry and string-net integrals of motion, which are related to the existence of topological charges that are invisible to moving high-energy fermions.

Quantum 2-Body Hamiltonian for Topological Color Codes

We introduce a two-body quantum Hamiltonian model with spins-$\half$ located on the vertices of a 2D spatial lattice. The model exhibits an exact topological degeneracy in all coupling regimes. This is a remarkable non-perturbative effect. The model has a $\Z_2\times \Z_2$ gauge group symmetry and string-net integrals of motion. There exists a gapped phase in which the low-energy sector reproduces an effective topological color code model. High energy excitations fall into three families of anyonic fermions that turn out to be strongly interacting. All these, and more, are new features not present in honeycomb lattice models like Kitaev model.

Renormalization of concurrence: the application of quantum renormalization group to the quantum information systems

We have combined the idea of renormalization group and quantum information theory. We have shown how the entanglement or concurrence evolve as the size of the system being large, i.e. the finite size scaling is obtained. Moreover, It introduces how the renormalization group approach can be implemented to obtain the quantum information properties of a many body system. We have obtained the concurrence as a measure of entanglement, its derivatives and their scaling behavior versus the size of system for the one dimensional Ising model in transverse field. We have found that the derivative of concurrence between two blocks each containing half of the system size diverges at the critical point with the exponent which is directly associated with the divergence of the correlation length.
