Advanced LEACH: A Static Clustering-based Heteroneous Routing Protocol for WSNs

Wireless Sensors Networks (WSNs) have a big application in heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we propose and evaluate Advanced Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (Ad-LEACH) which is static clustering based heterogeneous routing protocol. The complete network field is first divided into static clusters and then in each cluster separate Ad-LEACH protocol is applied. Our proposed protocol is inherited from LEACH with a cluster head selection criteria of Distributed Energy-Efficient Clustering (DEEC). This enables Ad-LEACH to cope with the heterogeneous nature of nodes. Due to small static clusters, each node reduces its broadcast message power because it only has to cover a small area. We perform simulations in MATLAB to check the efficiency of Ad-LEACH. The Simulation results show that Ad-LEACH outperforms LEACH and DEEC in energy efficiency as well as throughput.

AM-DisCNT: Angular Multi-hop DIStance based Circular Network Transmission Protocol for WSNs

The nodes in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) contain limited energy resources, which are needed to transmit data to base station (BS). Routing protocols are designed to reduce the energy consumption. Clustering algorithms are best in this aspect. Such clustering algorithms increase the stability and lifetime of the network. However, every routing protocol is not suitable for heterogeneous environments. AM-DisCNT is proposed and evaluated as a new energy efficient protocol for wireless sensor networks. AM-DisCNT uses circular deployment for even consumption of energy in entire wireless sensor network. Cluster-head selection is on the basis of energy. Highest energy node becomes CH for that round. Energy is again compared in the next round to check the highest energy node of that round. The simulation results show that AM-DisCNT performs better than the existing heterogeneous protocols on the basis of network lifetime, throughput and stability of the system.

iMOD LEACH: improved MODified LEACH Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks

Increased use of Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) in variety of applications has enabled the designers to create autonomous sensors, which can be deployed randomly, without human supervision, for the purpose of sensing and communicating valuable data. Many energy-efficient routing protocols are designed for WSNs based on clustering structure. In this paper, we have proposed iMODLEACH protocol which is an extension to the MODLEACH protocol. Simulation results indicate that iMODLEACH outperforms MODLEACH in terms of network life-time and packets transferred to base station. The mathematical analysis helps to select such values of these parameters which can suit a particular wireless sensor network application.

Non-Invasive Induction Link Model for Implantable Biomedical Microsystems: Pacemaker to Monitor Arrhythmic Patients in Body Area Networks

In this paper, a non-invasive inductive link model for an Implantable Biomedical Microsystems (IBMs) such as, a pacemaker to monitor Arrhythmic Patients (APs) in Body Area Networks (BANs) is proposed. The model acts as a driving source to keep the batteries charged, inside a device called, pacemaker. The device monitors any drift from natural human heart beats, a condition of arrythmia and also in turn, produces electrical pulses that create forced rhythms that, matches with the original normal heart rhythms. It constantly sends a medical report to the health center to keep the medical personnel aware of the patient's conditions and let them handle any critical condition, before it actually happens. Two equivalent models are compared by carrying the simulations, based on the parameters of voltage gain and link efficiency. Results depict that the series tuned primary and parallel tuned secondary circuit achieves the best results for both the parameters, keeping in view the constraint of coupling co-efficient (k), which should be less than a value \emph{0.45} as, desirable for the safety of body tissues.

On Modeling Geometric Joint Sink Mobility with Delay-Tolerant Cluster-less Wireless Sensor Networks

Moving Sink (MS) in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) has appeared as a blessing because it collects data directly from the nodes where the concept of relay nodes is becomes obsolete. There are, however, a few challenges to be taken care of, like data delay tolerance and trajectory of MS which is NP-hard. In our proposed scheme, we divide the square field in small squares. Middle point of the partitioned area is the sojourn location of the sink, and nodes around MS are in its transmission range, which send directly the sensed data in a delay-tolerant fashion. Two sinks are moving simultaneously; one inside and having four sojourn locations and other in outer trajectory having twelve sojourn locations. Introduction of the joint mobility enhances network life and ultimately throughput. As the MS comes under the NP-hard problem, we convert it into a geometric problem and define it as, Geometric Sink Movement (GSM). A set of linear programming equations has also been given in support of GSM which prolongs network life time.

Q-LEACH: A New Routing Protocol for WSNs

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) with their dynamic applications gained a tremendous attention of researchers. Constant monitoring of critical situations attracted researchers to utilize WSNs at vast platforms. The main focus in WSNs is to enhance network life-time as much as one could, for efficient and optimal utilization of resources. Different approaches based upon clustering are proposed for optimum functionality. Network life-time is always related with energy of sensor nodes deployed at remote areas for constant and fault tolerant monitoring. In this work, we propose Quadrature-LEACH (Q-LEACH) for homogenous networks which enhances stability period, network life-time and throughput quiet significantly.

SRP-MS: A New Routing Protocol for Delay Tolerant Wireless Sensor Networks

Sink Mobility is becoming popular due to excellent load balancing between nodes and ultimately resulting in prolonged network lifetime and throughput. A major challenge is to provide reliable and energy-efficient operations are to be taken into consideration for differentmobility patterns of sink. Aim of this paper is lifetime maximization of Delay TolerantWireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) through the manipulation of Mobile Sink (MS) on different trajectories. We propose Square Routing Protocol with MS (SRP-MS) based on existing SEP (Stable Election Protocol) by making it Cluster Less (CL) and introducing sink mobility.

Optimal Number of Cluster Head Selection for Efficient Distribution of Sources in WSNs

In this paper, we compare problems of cluster formation and cluster-head selection between different protocols for data aggregation and transmission. We focus on two aspects of the problem: (i) how to guess number of clusters required to proficiently consume available sources for a sensor network, and (ii) how to select number of cluster-heads to cover up sensor networks more proficiently. A sensor in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) can communicate directly only with other sensors that are within a radio range in a cluster. However, in order to enable communication between sensors not within communication range, they must form new clusters in distributed sensors. Several clustering algorithms such as LEACH, DEEC, and SEP have been proposed with the objectives of energy minimization, route-path selection, increased connectivity and network longevity. LEACH protocol and the similar ones assume an energy homogeneous system where a node is not likely to fail due to failure in connectivity and packet dropping. More recent protocols like SEP and TEEN considered the reverse that is energy heterogeneity which is more applicable to case of WSNs. We developed a bi-dimensional chain model to select average number of for DEEC. Simulation results are used to compare performance of different protocols to found optimal solutions of above mentioned problems.

Thermodynamics of Evolving Lorentzian Wormhole at Apparent and Event Horizons

We have investigated the non-static Lorentzian Wormhole model in presence of anisotropic pressure. We have presented some exact solutions of Einstein equations for anisotropic pressure case. Introducing two EoS parameters we have shown that these solutions give very rich dynamics of the universe yielding to the different expansion history of it in the $r$ - direction and in the $T$ - direction. The corresponding explicit forms of the shape function $b(r)$ is presented. We have shown that the Einstein's field equations and unified first law are equivalent for the dynamical wormhole model. The first law of thermodynamics has been derived by using the Unified first law. The physical quantities including surface gravity and the temperature are derived for the wormhole. Here we have obtained all the results without any choice of the shape function. The validity of generalized second law (GSL) of thermodynamics has been examined at apparent and event horizons for the evolving Lorentzian wormhole.

Cardy-Verlinde formula for an axially symmetric dilaton-axion black hole

It is shown that the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of an axially symmetric dilaton-axion black hole can be expressed as a Cardy-Verlinde formula. By utilizing the first order quantum correction in the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy we find the modified expressions for the Casimir energy and pure extensive energy. The first order correction to the Cardy-Verlinde formula in the context of axially symmetric dilaton-axion black hole are obtained with the use of modified Casimir and pure extensive energies.

Thermodynamic Geometry Of Charged Rotating BTZ Black Holes

We study the thermodynamics and the thermodynamic geometries of charged rotating BTZ (CR-BTZ) black holes in (2+1)-gravity. We investigate the thermodynamics of these systems within the context of the Weinhold and Ruppeiner thermodynamic geometries and the recently developed formalism of geometrothermodynamics (GTD). Considering the behavior of the heat capacity and the Hawking temperature, we show that Weinhold and Ruppeiner geometries cannot describe completely the thermodynamics of these black holes and of their limiting case of vanishing electric charge. In contrast, the Legendre invariance imposed on the metric in GTD allows one to describe the CR-BTZ black holes and their limiting cases in a consistent and invariant manner.

Charged Rotating BTZ Black Hole and Thermodynamic Behavior of Field Equations at its Horizon

In this paper, we study different cases of the charged rotating BTZ black hole with reference to their horizons. For the existence of these cases conditions on mass, charge and angular momentum of the black hole are obtained. It is also shown that the Einstein field equations for the charged rotating BTZ black hole at the horizon can be expressed as first law of thermodynamics, $dE=TdS+ΩdJ+Φdq+P_{r}dA$.

Dynamics and Thermodynamics of (2+1)-Dimensional Evolving Lorentzian Wormhole

In this paper we study the relationship between the Einstein field equations for the (2+1)-dimensional evolving wormhole and the first law of thermodynamics. It has been shown that the Einstein field equations can be rewritten as a similar form of the first law of thermodynamics at the dynamical trapping horizon (as proposed by Hayward) for the dynamical spacetime which describes intrinsic thermal properties associated with the trapping horizon. For a particular choice of the shape and potential functions we are able to express field equations as a similar form of first law of thermodynamics $dE=-TdS+WdA$ at the trapping horizons. Here $E=ρA$, $T=-κ/2π$, $S=4π\tilde{r}_{A}$, $W=(ρ-p)/2$%, and $A=π\tilde{r}_{A}^{2}$, are the total matter energy, horizon temperature, wormhole entropy, work density and volume of the evolving wormhole respectively.

Generalized second law of thermodynamics for a phantom energy accreting BTZ black hole

In this paper, we have studied the accretion of phantom energy on a (2+1)-dimensional stationary Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black hole. It has already been shown by Babichev et al that for the accretion of phantom energy onto a Schwarzschild black hole, the mass of black hole would decrease and the rate of change of mass would be dependent on the mass of the black hole. However, in the case of (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black hole, the mass evolution due to phantom accretion is independent of the mass of the black hole and is dependent only on the pressure and density of the phantom energy. We also study the generalized second law of thermodynamics at the event horizon and construct a condition that puts an lower bound on the pressure of the phantom energy.

Quantum corrections to the entropy of charged rotating black holes

Hawking radiation from a black hole can be viewed as quantum tunneling of particles through the event horizon. Using this approach we provide a general framework for studying corrections to the entropy of black holes beyond semiclassical approximations. Applying the properties of exact differentials for three variables to the first law thermodynamics, we study charged rotating black holes and explicitly work out the corrections to entropy and horizon area for the Kerr-Newman and charged rotating BTZ black holes. It is shown that the results for other geometries like the Schwarzschild, Reissner-Nordström and anti-de Sitter Schwarzschild spacetimes follow easily.

Quantum corrections to the entropy of Einstein-Maxwell dilaton-axion black holes

We study the corrections to the entropy of Einstein-Maxwell dilaton-axion black holes beyond semiclassical approximations. We consider the entropy of the black hole as a state variable and derive these corrections using the exactness criteria of the first law of thermodynamics. We note that from this general frame-work the entropy corrections for "simpler" black holes like Schwarzschild, Reissner-Nordström and anti-de Sitter-Schwarzschild black holes follow easily. This procedure gives us the modified area law as well.

Thermodynamic Behavior of Field Equations for f(R) Gravity

Recently it has shown that Einstein's field equations can be rewritten into a form of the first law of thermodynamics both at event horizon of static spherically symmetric black holes and apparent horizon of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe, which indicates intrinsic thermodynamic properties of spacetime horizon. In the present paper we deal with the so-called $f(R)$ gravity, whose action is a function of the curvature scalar $R$. In the setup of static spherically symmetric black hole spacetime, we find that at the event horizon, the field equations of $f(R)$ gravity can be written into a form $dE = TdS - PdV + Td\bar{S}$, where $T$ is the Hawking temperature and $S=Af'(R)/4G$ is the horizon entropy of the black hole, $E$ is the horizon energy of the black hole, $P$ is the radial pressure of matter, $V$ is the volume of black hole horizon, and $d\bar S$ can be interpreted as the entropy production term due to nonequilibrium thermodynamics of spacetime. In the setup of FRW universe, the field equations can also be cast to a similar form, $dE=TdS +WdV +Td\bar S$, at the apparent horizon, where $W=(ρ-P)/2$, $E$ is the energy of perfect fluid with energy density $ρ$ and pressure $P$ inside the apparent horizon. Compared to the case of Einstein's general relativity, an additional term $d\bar S$ also appears here. The appearance of the additional term is consistent with the argument recently given by Eling {\it et al.} (gr-qc/0602001) that the horizon thermodynamics is non-equilibrium one for the $f(R)$ gravity.

symmetries of the Ricci tensor of static space times with maximal symmetric transverse spaces

Static space times with maximal symmetric transverse spaces are classified according to their Ricci collineations. These are investigated for non-degenerate Ricci tensor ($det.(R_α) \neq 0$). It turns out that the only collineations admitted by these spaces can be ten, seven, six or four. Some new metrics admitting proper Ricci collineations are also investigated.
