Charged fermions tunneling from accelerating and rotating black holes

We study Hawking radiation of charged fermions from accelerating and rotation black holes with electric and magnetic charges. We calculate the tunneling probabilities of incoming and outgoing fermionic particles and find the Hawking temperature of these black holes. We also provide an explicit expression of the classical action for the massive and massless particles in the background of these black holes.

Emission of scalar particles from cylindrical black holes

We study quantum tunneling of scalar particles from black strings. For this purpose we apply WKB approximation and Hamilton-Jacobi method to solve the Klein-Gordon equation for outgoing trajectories. We find the tunneling probability of outgoing charged and uncharged scalars from the event horizon of black strings, and hence the Hawking temperature for these black configurations.

Hawking radiation of Dirac particles from black strings

Hawking radiation has been studied as a phenomenon of quantum tunneling in different black holes. In this paper we extend this semi-classical approach to cylindrically symmetric black holes. Using the Hamilton-Jacobi method and WKB approximation we calculate the tunneling probabilities of incoming and outgoing Dirac particles from the event horizon and find the Hawking temperature of these black holes. We obtain results both for uncharged as well as charged particles.

Hawking temperature of rotating charged black strings from tunneling

Thermal radiations from spherically symmetric black holes have been studied from the point of view of quantum tunneling. In this paper we extend this approach to study radiation of fermions from charged and rotating black strings. Using WKB approximation and Hamilton-Jacobi method we work out the tunneling probabilities of incoming and outgoing fermions and find the correct Hawking temperature for these objects. We show that in appropriate limits the results reduce to those for the uncharged and non-rotating black strings.

Thermodynamic Geometry Of Charged Rotating BTZ Black Holes

We study the thermodynamics and the thermodynamic geometries of charged rotating BTZ (CR-BTZ) black holes in (2+1)-gravity. We investigate the thermodynamics of these systems within the context of the Weinhold and Ruppeiner thermodynamic geometries and the recently developed formalism of geometrothermodynamics (GTD). Considering the behavior of the heat capacity and the Hawking temperature, we show that Weinhold and Ruppeiner geometries cannot describe completely the thermodynamics of these black holes and of their limiting case of vanishing electric charge. In contrast, the Legendre invariance imposed on the metric in GTD allows one to describe the CR-BTZ black holes and their limiting cases in a consistent and invariant manner.

Thermodynamics of charged and rotating black strings

We study thermodynamics of cylindrically symmetric black holes. Uncharged as well as charged and rotating objects have been discussed. We derive surface gravity and hence the Hawking temperature and entropy for all these cases. We correct some results in the literature and present new ones. It is seen that thermodynamically these black configurations behave differently from spherically symmetric objects.

Thermodynamics of noncommutative BTZ black hole

Thermodynamics of the BTZ black hole in noncommutative geometry is studied. We work out the Hawking temperature and entropy which reduce to their commutative limits when the noncommutativity parameter tends to zero. We also discuss the range of validity of the Hawking area law in the noncommutative case and provide graphical analysis. We see that the law is not valid unless the outer horizon is very large.

Tunneling of Dirac particles from accelerating and rotating black holes

Hawking radiation from black holes has been studied as a phenomenon of quantum tunneling of particles through their horizons. We have extended this approach to study the tunneling of Dirac particles from a large class of black holes which includes those with acceleration and rotation as well. We have calculated the tunneling probability of incoming and outgoing particles, and recovered the correct Hawking temperature by this method.

Approximate symmetries of geodesic equations on 2-spheres

Approximate symmetries of geodesic equations on 2-spheres are studied. These are the symmetries of the perturbed geodesic equations which represent approximate path of a particle rather than exact path. After giving the exact symmetries of the geodesic equations, two different approaches to study the approximate symmetries of the approximate geodesic equations show that no non-trivial approximate symmetry for these spaces exists.

Conformal Ricci collineations of static spherically symmetric spacetimes

Conformal Ricci collineations of static spherically symmetric spacetimes are studied. The general form of the vector fields generating conformal Ricci collineations is found when the Ricci tensor is non-degenerate, in which case the number of independent conformal Ricci collineations is \emph{fifteen}; the maximum number for 4-dimensional manifolds. In the degenerate case it is found that the static spherically symmetric spacetimes always have an infinite number of conformal Ricci collineations. Some examples are provided which admit non-trivial conformal Ricci collineations, and perfect fluid source of the matter.

Do the Ricci and energy-momentum tensors have "duality'' in the context of their Lie symmetries?

The Ricci and energy-momentum tensors have the same algebraic symmetries. In the Einstein equations they look ``dual'' to each other, in that interchanging them and inverting the gravitational coupling leaves the equations invariant. It may then be expected that their differential symmetry Lie algebras would also be identical. Using cylindrically symmetric static spacetimes it is shown that they are not identical and neither algebra is a subset of the other.

Quantum corrections to the entropy of charged rotating black holes

Hawking radiation from a black hole can be viewed as quantum tunneling of particles through the event horizon. Using this approach we provide a general framework for studying corrections to the entropy of black holes beyond semiclassical approximations. Applying the properties of exact differentials for three variables to the first law thermodynamics, we study charged rotating black holes and explicitly work out the corrections to entropy and horizon area for the Kerr-Newman and charged rotating BTZ black holes. It is shown that the results for other geometries like the Schwarzschild, Reissner-Nordström and anti-de Sitter Schwarzschild spacetimes follow easily.

Quantum corrections to the entropy of Einstein-Maxwell dilaton-axion black holes

We study the corrections to the entropy of Einstein-Maxwell dilaton-axion black holes beyond semiclassical approximations. We consider the entropy of the black hole as a state variable and derive these corrections using the exactness criteria of the first law of thermodynamics. We note that from this general frame-work the entropy corrections for "simpler" black holes like Schwarzschild, Reissner-Nordström and anti-de Sitter-Schwarzschild black holes follow easily. This procedure gives us the modified area law as well.

Thermodynamics of accelerating and rotating black holes

Thermodynamics of a large family of black holes from electrovacuum solutions of Einstein's equations is studied. This family includes rotating and non-accelerating black holes with NUT charge, and rotating and accelerating black holes. The surface gravity, Hawking temperature and the area laws for these black holes are presented. The first law of thermodynamics is also given. An interesting outcome of our analysis is the restriction obtained on the magnitude of acceleration for these black holes.

Classification of spacetimes according to conformal Killing vectors

Conformal Killing vectors (CKVs) preserve the spacetime metric up to a factor. Homothetic vectors and Killing vectors are special cases of CKVs. Classification of some classes of spacetimes on the basis of CKVs give interesting results showing how homothetic and Killing vectors which form subsets of the set of CKVs can be recovered as a result of the above classification.
