Robust Self-Augmentation for Named Entity Recognition with Meta Reweighting

Self-augmentation has received increasing research interest recently to improve named entity recognition (NER) performance in low-resource scenarios. Token substitution and mixup are two feasible heterogeneous self-augmentation techniques for NER that can achieve effective performance with certain specialized efforts. Noticeably, self-augmentation may introduce potentially noisy augmented data. Prior research has mainly resorted to heuristic rule-based constraints to reduce the noise for specific self-augmentation methods individually. In this paper, we revisit these two typical self-augmentation methods for NER, and propose a unified meta-reweighting strategy for them to achieve a natural integration. Our method is easily extensible, imposing little effort on a specific self-augmentation method. Experiments on different Chinese and English NER benchmarks show that our token substitution and mixup method, as well as their integration, can achieve effective performance improvement. Based on the meta-reweighting mechanism, we can enhance the advantages of the self-augmentation techniques without much extra effort.

Invisible sensor: Simultaneous sensing and camouflaging in multiphysical fields

To manipulate various types of physical signals in one single device has long captivated the attention of scientists and engineers. This however is very challenging, if not impossible, even for emerging metamaterials. Up to date, many artificial materials have been proposed, theoretically and (or) experimentally, for manipulating various waves/signals on a one-function-one-device basis. In this work, for the very first time, we employ undecorated natural materials to experimentally demonstrate a simultaneous camouflage for thermal current and electric dc current on the same device. It demonstrates how ingenuity can overcome the limitations of natural material systems without the need for complex decoration to impart inhomogeneous and (or) anisotropic properties, which was previously considered impossible to accomplish except by using metamaterials.

The Improved Job Scheduling Algorithm of Hadoop Platform

This paper discussed some job scheduling algorithms for Hadoop platform, and proposed a jobs scheduling optimization algorithm based on Bayes Classification viewing the shortcoming of those algorithms which are used. The proposed algorithm can be summarized as follows. In the scheduling algorithm based on Bayes Classification, the jobs in job queue will be classified into bad job and good job by Bayes Classification, when JobTracker gets task request, it will select a good job from job queue, and select tasks from good job to allocate JobTracker, then the execution result will feedback to the JobTracker. Therefore the scheduling algorithm based on Bayes Classification influence the job classification via learning the result of feedback with the JobTracker will select the most appropriate job to execute on TaskTracker every time. We need to consider the feature usage of job resource and the influence of TaskTracker resource on task execution, the former of which we call it job feature, for instance, the average usage rate of CPU and average usage rate of memory, the latter node feature, such as the usage rate of CPU and the size of idle physical memory, the two are called feature variables. Results show that it has a significant improvement in execution efficiency and stability of job scheduling.
