Wall-crossing of TBA equations and WKB periods for the third order ODE

We study the WKB periods for the third order ordinary differential equation (ODE) with polynomial potential, which is obtained by the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit of ($A_2,A_N$) Argyres-Douglas theory in the Omega background. In the minimal chamber of the moduli space, we derive the Y-system and the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations by using the ODE/IM correspondence. The exact WKB periods are identified with the Y-functions. Varying the moduli parameters of the potential, the wall-crossing of the TBA equations occurs. We study the process of the wall-crossing from the minimal chamber to the maximal chamber for $(A_2,A_2)$ and $(A_2,A_3)$. When the potential is a monomial type, we show the TBA equations obtained from the ($A_2, A_2$) and ($A_2, A_3$)-type ODE lead to the $D_4$ and $E_6$-type TBA equations respectively.

Quantum Seiberg-Witten periods for $\mathcal{N}=2$ $SU(N_c)$ SQCD around the superconformal point

We study the quantum Seiberg-Witten periods of ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal field theories which are obtained by taking the scaling limit of ${\cal N}=2$ $SU(N_c)$ SQCD around the superconformal fixed point. The quantum Seiberg-Witten curves of these superconformal field theories are shown to be classified into the Schrödinger type and the SQCD type, which depend on flavor symmetry at the fixed point. We study the quantum periods and compute the differential operators which relate the quantum periods to the classical ones up to the fourth-order in the deformation parameter.

TBA equations for the Schrödinger equation with a regular singularity

We derive the Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz (TBA) equations for the Schrödinger equation with an arbitrary polynomial potential and a regular singular (simple and double pole) term. The TBA equations provide a non-trivial generalization of the ODE/IM correspondence and also give a solution for the Riemann-Hilbert problem in the exact WKB method. We study the TBA equations in detail for the linear and the harmonic oscillator potentials together with inverse and centrifugal terms. As an application, we also compute numerically the Voros spectrum for these potentials using the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization condition.

Exact mass-coupling relation for the homogeneous sine-Gordon model

We derive the exact mass-coupling relation of the simplest multi-scale quantum integrable model, i.e., the homogeneous sine-Gordon model with two mass scales. The relation is obtained by comparing the perturbed conformal field theory description of the model valid at short distances to the large distance bootstrap description based on the model's integrability. In particular, we find a differential equation for the relation by constructing conserved tensor currents which satisfy a generalization of the $Θ$ sum rule Ward identity. The mass-coupling relation is written in terms of hypergeometric functions.

On the mass-coupling relation of multi-scale quantum integrable models

We determine exactly the mass-coupling relation for the simplest multi-scale quantum integrable model, the homogenous sine-Gordon model with two independent mass-scales. We first reformulate its perturbed coset CFT description in terms of the perturbation of a projected product of minimal models. This representation enables us to identify conserved tensor currents on the UV side. These UV operators are then mapped via form factor perturbation theory to operators on the IR side, which are characterized by their form factors. The relation between the UV and IR operators is given in terms of the sought-for mass-coupling relation. By generalizing the $Θ$ sum rule Ward identity we are able to derive differential equations for the mass-coupling relation, which we solve in terms of hypergeometric functions. We check these results against the data obtained by numerically solving the thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz equations, and find a complete agreement.

BPS Equations in Omega-deformed N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory

We study supersymmetry of N=4 super Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions deformed in the Omega-background. We take the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit of the background so that two-dimensional super Poincare symmetry is recovered. We compute the deformed central charge of the superalgebra and study the 1/2 and 1/4 BPS states. We obtain the Omega-deformed 1/2 and 1/4 BPS dyon equations from the deformed supersymmetry transformation and the Bogomol'nyi completion of the energy.

ODE/IM correspondence and Bethe ansatz for affine Toda field equations

We study the linear problem associated with modified affine Toda field equation for the Langlands dual $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}^\vee$, where $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$ is an untwisted affine Lie algebra. The connection coefficients for the asymptotic solutions of the linear problem are found to correspond to the $Q$-functions for $\mathfrak{g}$-type quantum integrable models. The $ψ$-system for the solutions associated with the fundamental representations of $\mathfrak{g}$ leads to Bethe ansatz equations associated with the affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$. We also study the $A^{(2)}_{2r}$ affine Toda field equation in massless limit in detail and find its Bethe ansatz equations as well as T-Q relations.

ODE/IM correspondence and modified affine Toda field equations

We study the two-dimensional affine Toda field equations for affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$ modified by a conformal transformation and the associated linear equations. In the conformal limit, the associated linear problem reduces to a (pseudo-)differential equation. For classical affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$, we obtain a (pseudo-)differential equation corresponding to the Bethe equations for the Langlands dual of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, which were found by Dorey et al. in study of the ODE/IM correspondence.

Quantum Wronskian approach to six-point gluon scattering amplitudes at strong coupling

We study the six-point gluon scattering amplitudes in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory at strong coupling based on the twisted Z_4-symmetric integrable model. The lattice regularization allows us to derive the associated thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations as well as the functional relations among the Q-/T-/Y-functions. The quantum Wronskian relation for the Q-/T-functions plays an important role in determining a series of the expansion coefficients of the T-/Y-functions around the UV limit, including the dependence on the twist parameter. Studying the CFT limit of the TBA equations, we derive the leading analytic expansion of the remainder function for the general kinematics around the limit where the dual Wilson loops become regular-polygonal. We also compare the rescaled remainder functions at strong coupling with those at two, three and four loops, and find that they are close to each other along the trajectories parameterized by the scale parameter of the integrable model.

Null-polygonal minimal surfaces in AdS_4 from perturbed W minimal models

We study the null-polygonal minimal surfaces in AdS_4, which correspond to the gluon scattering amplitudes/Wilson loops in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory at strong coupling. The area of the minimal surfaces with n cusps is characterized by the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) integral equations or the Y-system of the homogeneous sine-Gordon model, which is regarded as the SU(n-4)_4/U(1)^{n-5} generalized parafermion theory perturbed by the weight-zero adjoint operators. Based on the relation to the TBA systems of the perturbed W minimal models, we solve the TBA equations by using the conformal perturbation theory, and obtain the analytic expansion of the remainder function around the UV/regular-polygonal limit for n=6 and 7. We compare the rescaled remainder function for n=6 with the two-loop one, to observe that they are close to each other similarly to the AdS_3 case.

T-functions and multi-gluon scattering amplitudes

We study gluon scattering amplitudes/Wilson loops in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory at strong coupling which correspond to minimal surfaces with a light-like polygonal boundary in AdS_3. We find a concise expression of the remainder function in terms of the T-function of the associated thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) system. Continuing our previous work on the analytic expansion around the CFT/regular-polygonal limit, we derive a formula of the leading-order expansion for the general 2n-point remainder function. The T-system allows us to encode its momentum dependence in only one function of the TBA mass parameters, which is obtained by conformal perturbation theory. We compute its explicit form in the single mass cases. We also find that the rescaled remainder functions at strong coupling and at two loops are close to each other, and their ratio at the leading order approaches a constant near 0.9 for large n.

Twisted N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory in Omega-background

We study the twisted N=4 super Yang-Mills theories in the Omega-background with the constant R-symmetry Wilson line gauge field. Based on the classification of topological twists of N=4 supersymmetry (the half, the Vafa-Witten and the Marcus twists), we construct the deformed off-shell supersymmetry associated with the scalar supercharges for these twists. We find that the Omega-deformed action is written in the exact form with respect to the scalar supercharges as in the undeformed case.

Deformed BPS Monopole in Omega-background

We study the BPS condition in the $Ω$-deformed $\mathcal{N}=2$ super Yang-Mills theory when one of the $ε$-parameters of the background is zero. We obtain the deformed BPS equation for dyons and the formula for their central charge. In particular, we find that the deformed BPS monopole equation has axially-symmetric solution and is equivalent to the Ernst equation. The monopole charge is shown to be undeformed. We construct one-monopole solution explicitly and examine its profile.

N=4 Instanton Calculus in Omega and R-R Backgrounds

We study the instanton calculus for N=4 super Yang-Mills theory in ten-dimensional Omega-background with the R-symmetry Wilson line gauge field. From the ADHM construction of instantons in the background, we obtain the deformed instanton effective action. For a certain case we get the effective action of N=2^* theory in the Omega-background. We also study the low-energy effective D(-1)-brane action for the D3/D(-1)-brane system in the R-R 3-form field strength backgrounds and find that the action agrees with the instanton effective action in the Omega-background.

Torsion and Supersymmetry in Omega-background

We study the dimensional reduction of ten-dimensional super Yang-Mills theory in curved backgrounds with torsion. We examine the parallel spinor conditions and the constraints for the torsion parameters which preserve supersymmetry and gauge symmetry in four dimensions. In particular we examine the ten-dimensional Omega-background with the torsion which is identified with the R-symmetry Wilson line gauge fields. After the dimensional reduction, we obtain the Omega-deformed N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. Solving the parallel spinor conditions and the torsion constraints, we classify the deformed supersymmetry associated with the topological twist of N=4 supersymmetry. We also study deformed supersymmetries in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit.

g-Functions and gluon scattering amplitudes at strong coupling

We study gluon scattering amplitudes/Wilson loops in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory at strong coupling by calculating the area of the minimal surfaces in AdS_3 based on the associated thermodynamic Bethe ansatz system. The remainder function of the amplitudes is computed by evaluating the free energy, the T- and Y-functions of the homogeneous sine-Gordon model. Using conformal field theory (CFT) perturbation, we examine the mass corrections to the free energy around the CFT point corresponding to the regular polygonal Wilson loop. Based on the equivalence between the T-functions and the g-functions, which measure the boundary entropy, we calculate corrections to the T- and Y-functions as well as express them at the CFT point by the modular S-matrix. We evaluate the remainder function around the CFT point for 8 and 10-point amplitudes explicitly and compare these analytic expressions with the 2-loop formulas. The two rescaled remainder functions show very similar power series structures.

N=2 Instanton Effective Action in Omega-background and D3/D(-1)-brane System in R-R Background

We study the relation between the ADHM construction of instantons in the Omega-background and the fractional D3/D(-1)-branes at the orbifold singularity of C \times C^2/Z_2 in Ramond-Ramond (R-R) 3-form field strength background. We calculate disk amplitudes of open strings connecting the D3/D(-1)-branes in certain R-R background to obtain the D(-1)-brane effective action deformed by the R-R background. We show that the deformed D(-1)-brane effective action agrees with the instanton effective action in the Omega-background.

Six-point gluon scattering amplitudes from Z_4-symmetric integrable model

We study six-point gluon scattering amplitudes in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory at strong coupling by investigating the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations of the underlying Z_4-symmetric integrable model both analytically and numerically. By the conformal field theory (CFT) perturbation, we compute the free energy part of the remainder function with generic chemical potential near the CFT/small mass limit. Combining this with the expansion of the Y-functions, we obtain the remainder function near the small mass limit up to a function of the chemical potential, which can be evaluated numerically. We also find the leading corrections to the remainder function near the large mass limit. We confirm that these results are in good agreement with numerical computations.

Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz Equations for Minimal Surfaces in AdS_3

We study classical open string solutions with a null polygonal boundary in AdS_3 in relation to gluon scattering amplitudes in N=4 super Yang-Mills at strong coupling. We derive in full detail the set of integral equations governing the decagonal and the dodecagonal solutions and identify them with the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations of the homogeneous sine-Gordon models. By evaluating the free energy in the conformal limit we compute the central charges, from which we observe general correspondence between the polygonal solutions in AdS_n and generalized parafermions.

Discretized Minimal Surface and the BDS Conjecture in N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory at Strong Coupling

We construct numerically the minimal surface in AdS spacetime surrounded by the light-like segments, which are dual to the 4, 6 and 8-point gluon scattering amplitudes in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. We evaluate the area of the minimal surface in the radial cut-off regularization and compare these areas with the formula conjectured by Bern, Dixon and Smirnov (BDS), which is modified by the remainder function of cross-ratios of external momenta for n(\geq 6)-point amplitudes. In our momentum configuration cross-ratios are constant. We calculate the difference of areas with different conformal boost parameters, which is independent of the remainder function, and find that its dependence on the boost parameter is numerically consistent with the BDS formula.

A Numerical Study of Gluon Scattering Amplitudes in N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory at Strong Coupling

We study gluon scattering amplitudes in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory at strong coupling via the AdS/CFT correspondence. We solve numerically the discretized Euler-Lagrange equations on the square worldsheet for the minimal surface with light-like boundaries in AdS spacetime. We evaluate the area of the surface for the 4, 6 and 8-point amplitudes using worldsheet and radial cut-off regularizations. Their infrared singularities in the cut-off regularization are found to agree with the analytical results near the cusp less than 5% at 520x520 lattice points.

Deformation of N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory in Graviphoton Background

We study deformation of N=4 super Yang-Mills theory from type IIB superstrings with D3-branes in the constant R-R background. We compute disk amplitudes with one graviphoton vertex operator and investigate the zero-slope limit of the amplitudes. We obtain the effective action deformed by the graviphoton background, which contains the one defined in non(anti)commutative N=1 superspace as special case. The bosonic part of the Lagrangian gives the Chern-Simons term coupled with the R-R potential. We study the vacuum configuration of the deformed Lagrangian and find the fuzzy sphere configuration for scalar fields.

Non(anti)commutative N=2 Supersymmetric U(N) Gauge Theory and Deformed Instanton Equations

We study deformed supersymmetry in N=2 supersymmetric U(N) gauge theory in non(anti)commutative N=1 superspace. Using the component formalism, we construct deformed N=(1,1/2) supersymmetry explicitly. Based on the deformed supersymmetry, we discuss the C-dependence of the correlators. We also study the C-deformation of the instanton equation for the gauge group U(2).

Deformed Supersymmetry in Non(anti)commutative N=2 Supersymmetric U(1) Gauge Theory

We study N=2 supersymmetric U(1) gauge theory in non(anti)commutative N=2 harmonic superspace with the chirality preserving non-singlet deformation parameter. By solving the Wess-Zumino gauge preserving conditions for the analytic superfield, we construct the deformed N=(1,0) supersymmetry transformation for component fields up to the first order in the deformation parameter.

Singlet Deformation and Non(anti)commutative N=2 Supersymmetric U(1) Gauge Theory

We study N=2 supersymmetric U(1) gauge theory in non(anti)commutative N=2 harmonic superspace with the singlet deformation, which preserves chirality. We construct a Lagrangian which is invariant under both the deformed gauge and supersymmetry transformations. We find the field redefinition such that the N=2 vector multilplet transforms canonically under the deformed symmetries.

Supersymmetric Gauge Theories on Noncommutative Superspace

We study four dimensional supersymmetric gauge theory on the noncommutative superspace, recently proposed by Seiberg. We construct the gauge-invariant action of N=1 super Yang-Mills theory with chiral and antichiral superfields, which has N=1/2 supersymmetry on the noncommutative superspace. We also construct the action of N=2 super Yang-Mills theory. It is shown that this theory has only N=1/2 supersymmetry.

Hybrid Superstrings on Singular Calabi-Yau Fourfolds

Two-dimensional hybrid superstring on singular Calabi-Yau manifolds is studied by the field redefinition of the NSR formalism. The compactification on singular Calabi-Yau fourfold is described by N=2 super-Liouville theory and N=2 Landau-Ginzburg models. We examine the world-sheet topological N=4 superconformal algebra, which is useful to identify physical states of the theory. It is shown that the space-time superconformal symmetry is not compatible with this original topological algebra. A new model is proposed by modifying the topological superconformal generators, which is consistent with space-time N=2 superconformal symmetry.

On the Moduli Space of Noncommutative Multi-solitons at Finite Theta

We study the finite theta correction to the metric of the moduli space of noncommutative multi-solitons in scalar field theory in (2+1) dimensions. By solving the equation of motion up to order O(theta^{-2}) explicitly, we show that the multi-soliton solution must have the same center for a generic potential term. We examine the condition that the multi-centered configurations are allowed. Under this condition, we calculate the finite theta correction to the metric of the moduli space of multi-solitons and argue the possibility of the non right-angle scattering of two solitons. We also obtain the potential between two solitons.

Penrose Limit and String Theories on Various Brane Backgrounds

We investigate the Penrose limit of various brane solutions including Dp-branes, NS5-branes, fundamental strings, (p,q) fivebranes and (p,q) strings. We obtain special null geodesics with the fixed radial coordinate (critical radius), along which the Penrose limit gives string theories with constant mass. We also study string theories with time-dependent mass, which arise from the Penrose limit of the brane backgrounds. We examine equations of motion of the strings in the asymptotic flat region and around the critical radius. In particular, for (p,q) fivebranes, we find that the string equations of motion in the directions with the B field are explicitly solved by the spheroidal wave functions.

Lie Superalgebra and Extended Topological Conformal Symmetry in Non-critical $W_{3}$ Strings

We obtain a new free field realization of $N=2$ super $W_{3}$ algebra using the technique of quantum hamiltonian reduction. The construction is based on a particular choice of the simple root system of the affine Lie superalgebra $sl(3|2)^{(1)}$ associated with a non-standard $sl(2)$ embedding. After twisting and a similarity transformation, this $W$ algebra can be identified as the extended topological conformal algebra of non-critical $W_{3}$ string theory.

Hamiltonian Reduction and Topological Conformal Algebra in $c\leq 1$ Non-critical Strings

We study the hamiltonian reduction of affine Lie superalgebra $sl(2|1)^{(1)}$. Based on a scalar Lax operator formalism, we derive the free field realization of the classical topological topological algebra which appears in the $c\leq1$ non-critical strings. In the quantum case, we analyze the BRST cohomology to get the quantum free field expression of the algebra.
