FinDeepResearch: Evaluating Deep Research Agents in Rigorous Financial Analysis

Deep Research (DR) agents, powered by advanced Large Language Models (LLMs), have recently garnered increasing attention for their capability in conducting complex research tasks. However, existing literature lacks a rigorous and systematic evaluation of DR Agent's capabilities in critical research analysis. To address this gap, we first propose HisRubric, a novel evaluation framework with a hierarchical analytical structure and a fine-grained grading rubric for rigorously assessing DR agents' capabilities in corporate financial analysis. This framework mirrors the professional analyst's workflow, progressing from data recognition to metric calculation, and finally to strategic summarization and interpretation. Built on this framework, we construct a FinDeepResearch benchmark that comprises 64 listed companies from 8 financial markets across 4 languages, encompassing a total of 15,808 grading items. We further conduct extensive experiments on the FinDeepResearch using 16 representative methods, including 6 DR agents, 5 LLMs equipped with both deep reasoning and search capabilities, and 5 LLMs with deep reasoning capabilities only. The results reveal the strengths and limitations of these approaches across diverse capabilities, financial markets, and languages, offering valuable insights for future research and development. The benchmark and evaluation code is publicly available at https://OpenFinArena.com/.

A Novel Blind Source Separation Framework Towards Maximum Signal-To-Interference Ratio

This letter proposes a new blind source separation (BSS) framework termed minimum variance independent component analysis (MVICA), which can potentially achieve the maximum output signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) while also allowing more flexibility in real implementations. The statistical independence assumption has been the foundation of the most dominant BSS techniques in recent decades. However, this assumption does not always hold true and the accurate probabilistic modeling of source is inherently difficult. To overcome these limitations and improve the separation performance, the MVICA framework is rigorously derived by optimizing the design of these independence-based BSS algorithms with the maximum SIR criterion. A deep neural network-supported implementation of MVICA is subsequently described. Experimental results under various conditions show the superiority of MVICA over the state-of-the-art BSS algorithms, in terms of not only SIR but also signal-to-distortion ratio and automatic speech recognition rate.

Analytical Shaping Method for Low-Thrust Rendezvous Trajectory Using Cubic Spline Functions

Preliminary mission design requires an efficient and accurate approximation to the low-thrust rendezvous trajectories, which might be generally three-dimensional and involve multiple revolutions. In this paper, a new shaping method using cubic spline functions is developed for the analytical approximation, which shows advantages in the optimality and computational efficiency. The rendezvous constraints on the boundary states and transfer time are all satisfied analytically, under the assumption that the boundary conditions and segment numbers of cubic spline functions are designated in advance. Two specific shapes are then formulated according to whether they have free optimization parameters. The shape without free parameters provides an efficient and robust estimation, while the other one allows a subsequent optimization for the satisfaction of additional constraints such as the constraint on the thrust magnitude. Applications of the proposed method in combination with the particle swarm optimization algorithm are discussed through two typical interplanetary rendezvous missions, that is, an inclined multi-revolution trajectory from the Earth to asteroid Dionysus and a multi-rendezvous trajectory of sample return. Simulation examples show that the proposed method is superior to existing methods in terms of providing good estimation for the global search and generating suitable initial guess for the subsequent trajectory optimization.

Compressing LSTM Networks by Matrix Product Operators

Long Short Term Memory(LSTM) models are the building blocks of many state-of-the-art natural language processing(NLP) and speech enhancement(SE) algorithms. However, there are a large number of parameters in an LSTM model. This usually consumes a large number of resources to train the LSTM model. Also, LSTM models suffer from computational inefficiency in the inference phase. Existing model compression methods (e.g., model pruning) can only discriminate based on the magnitude of model parameters, ignoring the issue of importance distribution based on the model information. Here we introduce the MPO decomposition, which describes the local correlation of quantum states in quantum many-body physics and is used to represent the large model parameter matrix in a neural network, which can compress the neural network by truncating the unimportant information in the weight matrix. In this paper, we propose a matrix product operator(MPO) based neural network architecture to replace the LSTM model. The effective representation of neural networks by MPO can effectively reduce the computational consumption of training LSTM models on the one hand, and speed up the computation in the inference phase of the model on the other hand. We compare the MPO-LSTM model-based compression model with the traditional LSTM model with pruning methods on sequence classification, sequence prediction, and speech enhancement tasks in our experiments. The experimental results show that our proposed neural network architecture based on the MPO approach significantly outperforms the pruning approach.

Low Gain Avalanche Detectors with Good Time Resolution Developed by IHEP and IME for ATLAS HGTD project

This paper shows the simulation and test results of 50um thick Low Gain Avalanche Detectors (LGAD) sensors designed by the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) and fabricated by the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IME). Three wafers have been produced with four different gain layer implant doses each. Different production processes, including variation in the n++ layer implant energy and carbon co-implantation were used. Test results show that the IHEP-IME sensors with the higher dose of gain layer have lower breakdown voltages and higher gain layer voltages from capacitance-voltage properties, which are consistent with the TCAD simulation. Beta test results show that the time resolution of IHEP-IME sensors is better than 35ps when operated at high voltage and the collected charges of IHEP-IME sensors are larger than 15fC before irradiation, which fulfill the required specifications of sensors before irradiations for the ATLAS HGTD project.

Undoped Strained Ge Quantum Well with Ultrahigh Mobility Grown by Reduce Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition

We fabricate an undoped Ge quantum well under 30 nm Ge0.8Si0.2 shallow barrier with reverse grading technology. The under barrier is deposited by Ge0.8Si0.2 followed by Ge0.9Si0.1 so that the variation of Ge content forms a sharp interface which can suppress the threading dislocation density penetrating into undoped Ge quantum well. And the Ge0.8Si0.2 barrier introduces enough in-plane parallel strain -0.41% in the Ge quantum well. The heterostructure field-effect transistors with a shallow buried channel get a high two-dimensional hole gas (2DHG) mobility over 2E6 cm2/Vs at a low percolation density of 2.51 E-11 cm2. We also discover a tunable fractional quantum Hall effect at high densities and high magnetic fields. This approach defines strained germanium as providing the material basis for tuning the spin-orbit coupling strength for fast and coherent quantum computation.

Bilinear Hilbert Transforms and (Sub)Bilinear Maximal Functions along Convex Curves

In this paper, we determine the $L^p(\mathbb{R})\times L^q(\mathbb{R})\rightarrow L^r(\mathbb{R})$ boundedness of the bilinear Hilbert transform $H_γ(f,g)$ along a convex curve $γ$ $$H_γ(f,g)(x):=\mathrm{p.\,v.}\int_{-\infty}^{\infty}f(x-t)g(x-γ(t)) \,\frac{\textrm{d}t}{t},$$ where $p$, $q$, and $r$ satisfy $\frac{1}{p}+\frac{1}{q}=\frac{1}{r}$, and $r>\frac{1}{2}$, $p>1$, and $q>1$. Moreover, the same $L^p(\mathbb{R})\times L^q(\mathbb{R})\rightarrow L^r(\mathbb{R})$ boundedness property holds for the corresponding (sub)bilinear maximal function $M_γ(f,g)$ along a convex curve $γ$ $$M_γ(f,g)(x):=\sup_{\varepsilon>0}\frac{1}{2\varepsilon}\int_{-\varepsilon}^{\varepsilon}|f(x-t)g(x-γ(t))| \,\textrm{d}t.$$

Dynamical Configurations of Celestial Systems Comprised of Multiple Irregular Bodies

This manuscript considers the main features of the nonlinear dynamics of multiple irregular celestial body systems. The gravitational potential, static electric potential, and magnetic potential are considered. Based on the three established potentials, we show that three conservative values exist for this system, including a Jacobi integral. The equilibrium conditions for the system are derived and their stability analyzed. The equilibrium conditions of a celestial system comprised of n irregular bodies are reduced to 12n minus 9 equations. The dynamical results are applied to simulate the motion of multiple-asteroid systems. The simulation is useful for the study of the stability of multiple irregular celestial body systems and for the design of spacecraft orbits to triple asteroid systems discovered in the solar system. The dynamical configurations of the five triple-asteroid systems 45 Eugenia, 87 Sylvia, 93 Minerva, 216 Kleopatra, and 136617 1994CC, and the six-body system 134340 Pluto are calculated and analyzed.

Orbit Maneuver of Spinning Tether via Tidal Force

Recently, the spinning tethered system is regarded as a typical and fundamental space structure attracting great interest of the aerospace engineers, and has been discussed primarily for specific space missions in past decades, including on-orbit capture and propellantless orbit transfer etc. The present work studies the dynamical behaviours of a fast spinning tethered binary system under central gravitational field, and derives principles of the basic laws of orbital maneuver. Considering the characteristics of coupled librational and orbital motions, an averaging method is introduced to deal with the slow-fast system equation, thus a definite equivalent model is derived. The general orbit motion is completely determined analytically, including the orbit geometry, periodicity, conversations and moving region etc. Since the possibility of orbit control using tether reaction has been proved by previous studies, special attention is paid to the transportation mode of angular momentum and mechanical energy between the orbit and libration. The effect of tether length change on the orbit shape is verified both in the averaged model and original model. The results show the orbit angular momentum and mechanical energy can be controlled independently, and the operating principles of tether reactions are derived for special modification of orbit shape.

Orbits and Manifolds near the Equilibrium Points around a Rotating Asteroid

We study the orbits and manifolds near the equilibrium points of a rotating asteroid. The linearised equations of motion relative to the equilibrium points in the gravitational field of a rotating asteroid, the characteristic equation and the stable conditions of the equilibrium points are derived and discussed. First, a new metric is presented to link the orbit and the geodesic of the smooth manifold. Then, using the eigenvalues of the characteristic equation, the equilibrium points are classified into 8 cases. A theorem is presented and proved to describe the structure of the submanifold as well as the stable and unstable behaviours of a massless particle near the equilibrium points. The linearly stable, the non-resonant unstable, and the resonant equilibrium points are discussed. There are three families of periodic orbits and four families of quasi-periodic orbits near the linearly stable equilibrium point. For the non-resonant unstable equilibrium points, there are four cases; for the periodic orbit and the quasi-periodic orbit, the structures of the submanifold and the subspace near the equilibrium points are studied for each case. For the resonant equilibrium points, the dimension of the resonant manifold is greater than four, and we find at least 1 family of periodic orbits near the resonant equilibrium points. Besides, this theory is applied to asteroids 216 Kleopatra, 1620 Geographos, 4769 Castalia, and 6489 Golevka.

Capturing Near Earth Objects

Recently, Near Earth Objects (NEOs) have been attracting great attention, and thousands of NEOs have been found to date. This paper examines the NEOs' orbital dynamics using the framework of an accurate solar system model and a Sun-Earth-NEO three-body system when the NEOs are close to Earth to search for NEOs with low-energy orbits. It is possible for such an NEO to be temporarily captured by Earth; its orbit would thereby be changed and it would become an Earth-orbiting object after a small increase in its velocity. From the point of view of the Sun-Earth-NEO restricted three-body system, it is possible for an NEO whose Jacobian constant is slightly lower than C1 and higher than C3 to be temporarily captured by Earth. When such an NEO approaches Earth, it is possible to change its orbit energy to close up the zero velocity surface of the three-body system at point L1 and make the NEO become a small satellite of the Earth. Some such NEOs were found; the best example only required a 410m/s increase in velocity.

New applications of the H-reversal trajectory using solar sails

Advanced solar sailing has been an increasingly attractive propulsion system for highly non-Keplerian orbits. Three new applications of the orbital angular momentum reversal (H-reversal) trajectories using solar sails are presented in this paper: space observation, heliocentric orbit transfer, and collision orbits with asteroids. A theoretical proof for the existence of double H-reversal trajectories (referred to as 'H2RTs') is given, and the characteristics of the H2RTs are introduced before the discussion of the mission applications. A new family of H2RTs was obtained using a 3D dynamic model of the two-body frame. In a time-optimal control model, the minimum period H2RTs both inside and outside the ecliptic plane were examined using an ideal solar sail. Due to the quasi-heliostationary property at its two symmetrical aphelia, the H2RTs were deemed suitable for space observation. For the second application, the heliocentric transfer orbit was able to function as the time-optimal H-reversal trajectory, as its perihelion velocity is circular or elliptic velocity. Such a transfer orbit can place the sailcraft into a clockwise orbit in the ecliptic plane, with a high inclination or displacement above or below the Sun. The third application of the H-reversal trajectory was simulated impacting an asteroid passing near Earth in a head-on collision. The collision point can be designed through selecting different perihelia or different launch windows. Sample orbits of each application were presented through numerical simulation. The results can serve as a reference for theoretical research and engineering design.

Utilization of H-reversal Trajectory of Solar Sail for Asteroid Deflection

Near Earth Asteroids have a possibility of impacting with the Earth and always have a thread on the Earth. This paper proposes a way of changing the trajectory of the asteroid to avoid the impaction. Solar sail evolving in a H-reversal trajectory is utilized for asteroid deflection. Firstly, the dynamics of solar sail and the characteristics of the H-reversal trajectory are analyzed. Then, the attitude of the solar sail is optimized to guide the sail to impact with the object asteroid along a H-reversal trajectory. The impact velocity depends on two important parameters: the minimum solar distance along the trajectory and lightness number. A larger lightness number and a smaller solar distance lead to a higher impact velocity. Finally, the deflection capability of a solar sail impacting with the asteroid along the H-reversal is discussed. The results show that a 10 kg solar sail with a lead-time of one year can move Apophis out of a 600-m keyhole area in 2029 to eliminate the possibility of its resonant return in 2036.
