Model-independent analysis on R(K(∗))R(K^{(*)})

We analyze the lepton-universality violating B→K(∗)ℓ+ℓ−B\to K^{(*)}\ell^+\ell^- puzzle R(K(∗))R(K^{(*)}) in a model-independent way. The branching ratio Br(Bs→μ+μ−){\rm Br}(B_s\toμ^+μ^-) is also considered as a main constraint. We show how the branching ratio restricts the allowed region of the parameter space, and investigate new physics effects on the electronic as well as muonic sector in R(K(∗))R(K^{(*)}). Within a reasonable range of parameters we find that the new physics scale goes up to ∼5\sim 5 TeV, and the new physics effects on the Wilson coefficient is −1≲C9NPμ≲0-1\lesssim C_{9NP}^μ\lesssim 0.

Higgs potential and hidden light Higgs scenario in two Higgs doublet models

In two Higgs doublet models (2HDM), there exists an interesting possibility, the hidden light Higgs scenario, that the discovered SM-like Higgs boson is the heavier \textit{CP}-even Higgs boson H0H^0 and the lighter \textit{CP}-even h0h^0 has not been observed yet in any experiment. We study the current status of this scenario in Types I, II, X, and Y, through the scans of the 2HDM parameters with all relevant theoretical and experimental constraints. We employ not only the most up-to-date Higgs signal strength measurements with the feed-down effects, but also all the available LHC exclusion limits from heavy Higgs searches. Adjusting the heavier H0H^0 to the 125 GeV state while hiding the lighter h0h^0 from the LEP Higgs search prohibits the extreme decoupling limit: there exist upper bounds on the masses of the pseudoscalar A0A^0 and the charged Higgs H±H^\pm below about 600 GeV. In addition, the Z2Z_2 symmetry is shown to be a good approximate symmetry since the soft Z2Z_2 symmetry breaking parameter m122m_{12}^2 should be less than about (45 GeV)2^2. Most interestingly, a few parameters in the Higgs potential and the related Higgs triple and quartic couplings are shown to be meaningfully constrained by the current data. The double Higgs-strahlung process at an e+e−e^+ e^- collider is also studied.

New Physics in Bd,sB_{d,s}-$\Bbar_{d,s}$ mixings and Bd,s→μ+μ−B_{d,s}\toμ^+μ^- decays

A new way of probing new physics in the BB meson system is provided. We define double ratios for the observables of Bd,sB_{d,s}-$\Bbar_{d,s}$ mixings and Bd,s→μ+μ−B_{d,s}\toμ^+μ^- decays, and find simple relations between the observables. By using the relations we predict the yet-to-be measured branching ratio of Bd→μ+μ−B_d\toμ^+μ^- to be (0.809∼1.03)×10−10(0.809\sim1.03)\times 10^{-10}, up to the new physics models.

Two Higgs doublet models for the LHC Higgs boson data at s=\sqrt{s}= 7 and 8 TeV

Updated LHC data on the new 126 GeV boson during the 7 and 8 TeV runnings strengthen the standard model Higgs boson interpretation further. Through the global χ2χ^2 analysis, we investigate whether the new particle could be one of the scalar particles in two Higgs doublet models. Four types (Type I, II, X and Y) are comprehensively studied. Taking the recent analysis on the spin-parity of the new boson, we consider two scenarios: the new boson is either the light CP-even one (h0h^0) or the heavy CP-even one (H0H^0). It is found that both scenarios are consistent with the new data, not only in the parameter regions near the decoupling limit but also in other regions far from the decoupling limit. In addition, the current data are compatible with the possibility that the light Higgs boson h0h^0 is hidden in the mass window of 90-100 GeV. The diphoton or ττττ channel can provide a probe of this possibility by the enhanced signal rates.

Constraints on Unparticles from Bs→μ+μ−B_s\toμ^+μ^-

Unparticle contributions to the recently measured decay mode Bs→μ+μ−B_s\toμ^+μ^- are analyzed. We consider only the scalar unparticles because vector unparticles are expected to provide negligible contributions. Assuming that the relevant coupling constants are real, we present allowed regions of coupling constants and the scaling dimension of the scalar unparticle. While the measured value of the branching ratio is very close to the standard model predictions, one cannot exclude the possible contributions from unparticles.

Comprehensive study of two Higgs doublet model in light of the new boson with mass around 125 GeV

The recent discovery of a new boson of mass roughly 125 GeV has been reported by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations. Although its signals in various decay modes resemble those of the standard model (SM) Higgs boson, observed are the combinations of entangled information about the production, decay rates and total decay width of the new boson. In addition, some decay channels show non-negligible deviation from the SM expectation, such as the 2σ2σ excess in the diphoton channel. In the four types (I, II, X and Y) of two Higgs doublet models, we perform the global χ2χ^2 fit in three scenarios: (i) the new boson is the light CP-even Higgs boson h0h^0; (ii) it is the heavy CP-even Higgs boson H0H^0; (iii) the signals are from degenerate h0h^0 and the pseudoscalar A0A^0. Considering other phenomenological constraints such as flavor physics, electroweak precision data, and the LEP search for the Higgs boson, we find that the the first scenarios in Type II and Type Y models actually provide better or similarly good fit to the data than the SM. All the other models are excluded at 95% C.L..

More than one ultimate speed and superluminal neutrinos

It is suggested that recent superluminal neutrinos from the OPERA collaboration might indicate that there are other ultimate speeds than usual speed of light in our universe. The leptonic sector of the standard model (SM) is reformulated incorporating with new ultimate speeds. In minimal cases where there is another maximum speed c′c' which equals to the speed of the OPERA neutrinos, new effects would appear at the level of O(10−5){\cal O}(10^{-5}). Improved precisions for the electroweak observables would check the validity of this scenario.

Quantization of DD-dimensional noncommutative black holes

Noncommutative black holes in higher dimensions are investigated in the context of holographic principle. Quantization rules for the discrete mass spectrum are derived and compared with the continuous spectrum in the literature. Because of the noncommutative nature of background geometry the minimum mass to form a noncommutative black hole is very large (it becomes larger for discrete spectra), so the current LHC search results for mini black holes cannot exclude the possibility of quantum gravity in higher dimensions.

Superradiance by mini black holes with mirror

The superradiant scattering of massive scalar particles by a rotating mini black hole is investigated. Imposing the mirror boundary condition, the system becomes the so called black-hole bomb where the rotation energy of the black hole is transferred to the scattered particle exponentially with time. Bulk emissions as well as brane emissions are considered altogether. It is found that the largest effects are expected for the brane emission of lower angular modes with lighter mass and larger angular momentum of the black hole. Possibilities of the forming the black-hole bomb at the LHC are discussed.

Black-hole bombs at the LHC

A particle scattered off by a rotating black hole can be amplified when the system is in the superradiant regime. If the system is surrounded by a mirror which reflects the particle back to the black hole the whole system forms a black-hole bomb, amplifying the original field exponentially. We show in this paper that higher dimensional black holes can also form black-hole bombs at the LHC. For a pion the ee-folding time for the field amplification is tc∼10−23−10−24t_c\sim 10^{-23}-10^{-24} sec. If the lifetime of the black hole is long enough compared with tct_c, we can observe severely amplified fields.

Quasinormal modes of unparticle black holes

In the background of unparticle-enhanced black hole geometry, we provide the quasinormal modes of scalar, vector, and Dirac particles around it. Ungravity by tensor unparticles contributes positively to the Newtonian gravity and black holes can be formed at the LHC without any extra dimensions. In the ungravity-dominant regime, the gravity looks much like that of the Schwarzschild geometry in fractional number of extra dimensions. We argue in this analysis that quasinormal modes are good fingerprints to distinguish ungravity from extra dimensions, by showing that the unitarity constraints on ungravity forbid some of the quasinormal modes which are allowed in extra dimensions.

Unparticle contributions to $\Bs$-$\Bsbar$ mixing

The unparticle effects on the $\Bs$-$\Bsbar$ mixing is revisited. Taking into account the unitarity constraints on the unparticle operators, we find that the contribution of the vector unparticle is very suppressed compared to that of the scalar unparticle. This is due to the fact that the lower bound of the scaling dimension of the vector-unparticle operator is larger. It is also shown that the mixing phase from the scalar unparticle is negative, and unparticles can produce large mixing phase.

$B\Bbar$ mixing with the bulk fields in the Randall-Sundrum model

We calculate the $B\Bbar$ mixing in the Randall-Sundrum bulk model. In this model, all the Standard Model fields except the Higgs can reside in the bulk. Two suggestive models of "mixed" and "relaxed" scenarios are considered. We find that the enhancement of the loop function is 0.51% for the "relaxed" and 1.07% for the "mixed" scenario when the first 4th KK modes are included, for a bulk fermion mass parameter ν=−0.3ν=-0.3.

CP violation in B→ϕKB \to ϕK decay and anomalous right-handed top quark couplings

We explore the CP violation in B→ϕKB \to ϕK decay processes in the presence of the anomalous right-handed tˉsW\bar{t}sW and tˉbW\bar{t}bW couplings. The complex anomalous top coupling can be a source of the new CP violation and lead to a deviation of the observed weak phase in B→ϕKB \to ϕK decays, which takes account for the present disagreement of the observed sin⁡2β\sin 2 β between B→J/ψKB \to J/ψK and B→ϕKB \to ϕK decays. The direct CP violation is also predicted.

Photon polarization in B→KresγB\to K_{\rm res}γ

In this talk, I introduce recently proposed method for measuring the photon polarization in B→KresγB\to K_{\rm res}γ. It is also shown that anomalous right-handed top couplings can severely affect the photon polarization without spoiling the well measured branching ratio of B→XsγB\to X_sγ. Estimated number of BB mesons needed for measuring the photon polarization is already within the reach of current BB factories.

Photon polarization with anomalous right-handed top couplings in B→KresγB\to K_{res}γ

The effect of anomalous right-handed top couplings on the photon polarization in B→KresγB\to K_{\rm res}γ is investigated. It is recently reported that the photon polarization can be measured through the up-down asymmetry of the photon direction relative to the subsequent KresK_{\rm res} decay plane. We find that the anomalous couplings can severely affect the photon polarization without spoiling the well measured branching ratio of B→XsγB\to X_sγ. Different features from other scenarios are also discussed.

Analysis of Lambda_b to Lambda_c Weak Decays in Heavy Quark Effective Theory

The Lambda_b to Lambda_c semileptonic decay is analyzed in the framework of heavy quark effective theory to the order of 1/m_c and 1/m_b. The QCD sum rule and large N_c predictions to the decay form factors are applied. It argues that the subleading baryonic Isgur-Wise function in the large N_c limit vanishes. The decay rates, distributions and asymmetry parameters are calculated numerically. Some of the nonleptonic decay modes are discussed in the end.
