Revisiting the Fermionic Dark Matter Absorption on Electron Target

We perform a systematic study of the fermionic DM absorption interactions on electron target in the context of effective field theory. The fermionic DM absorption is not just sensitive to sub-MeV DM with efficient energy release, but also gives a unique signature with clear peak in the electron recoil spectrum whose shape is largely determined by the atomic effects. Fitting with the Xenon1T and PandaX-II data prefers DM mass at $m_χ= 59$keV and 105keV, respectively, while the cut-off scale is probed up to around 1TeV. The DM overproduction in the early Universe, the invisible decay effect on the cosmological evolution, and the astrophysical X(gamma)-ray from the DM visible decays are thoroughly explored to give up-to-date constraints. With stringent bounds on the tensor and pseudo-scalar operators, the other fermionic DM operators are of particular interest at tonne-scale direct detection experiments such as PandaX-4T, XENONnT, and LZ.

Solar Active-Sterile Neutrino Conversion with Atomic Effects at Dark Matter Direct Detection Experiments

The recent XENON1T excess can be explained by the solar active-sterile neutrino conversion with bound electrons via light mediator. Nevertheless, the atomic effects are usually omitted in the solar neutrino explanations. We systematically establish a second quantization formalism for both bound and ionized electrons to account for the atomic effects. This formalism is of great generality to incorporate various interactions for both neutrino and dark matter scatterings. Our calculation shows that the change in the cross section due to atomic effects can have important impact on the differential cross section. It is necessary to include atomic effects in the low-energy electron recoil signal at dark matter direct detection experiments even for energetic solar neutrinos. With the best-fit values to the XENON1T data, we also project the event rate at PandaX-4T, XENONnT, and LZ experiments.

The underestimation of high pressure in DFT+$U$ simulation for the wide range cold-pressure of lanthanide metals

Density functional theory plus $U$ (DFT+$U$) is one of the most efficient first-principles methods to simulate the cold pressure properties of strongly-correlated materials. However, the applicability of DFT+$U$ at ultra-high pressure is not sufficiently studied, especially in the widely-used augmented schemes [such as projector augmented wave (PAW) and linearized augmented plane wave (LAPW)]. This work has systematically investigated the performance of DFT+$U$ in PAW and LAPW at the pressure up to several hundred GPa for the lanthanide metals, which is a typical strongly-correlated series. We found DFT+$U$ simulation in PAW exhibits an unphysical underestimating of force at high pressure. By delicate analysis and comparison with local-orbital-independent hybrid functional results, we have demonstrated that this unphysical behavior is related to a normalization problem on the local density matrix caused by the overlap of local orbitals in PAW under high pressure. Additionally, we observed a slight softening of force in DFT+$U$ in heavy lanthanides (Tm, Yb and Lu) at high pressure comparing with the DFT results without the influence of local orbital overlap, and it might be related to the enhancement of bonding effect in correlation correction methods at high pressure. Our work reveals the underestimating of high pressure in DFT+$U$ simulation, analyses two sources of this unusual behavior and proposes their mechanism. Most importantly, our investigation highlights the breakdown of DFT+$U$ for high pressure simulation in VASP package based on PAW framework.

Solar Neutrino Scattering with Electron into Massive Sterile Neutrino

The recent Xenon1T excess can be explained by solar neutrino scattering with electron via a light mediator, either scalar or vector, in addition to many other explanations from the dark sector. Since only the recoil electron is observable, a keV sterile neutrino instead of an active neutrino can appear in the final state. The sterile neutrino allows pseudoscalar mediator to explain the Xenon1T excess which was thought impossible. In addition, nonzero recoil energy lower bound arises from the sterile neutrino mass, which can be used to testify if the sterile neutrino is massive or not. We also briefly discuss the case of a sterile neutrino final state with light $Z'$ mediator.

An insight into the description of the crystal structure for Mirković-Vilonen polytopes

We study the description of the crystal structure on the set of Mirković-Vilonen polytopes. Anderson and Mirković defined an operator and conjectured that it coincides with the Kashiwara operator. Kamnitzer proved the conjecture for type A and gave an counterexample for type C_{3}. He also gave an explicit formula to calculate the Kashiwara operator for type A. In this paper we prove that a part of the AM conjecture still holds in general, answering an open question of Kamnitzer (2007). Moreover, we show that although the formula given by Kamnitzer does not hold in general, it is still valid in many cases regardless of the type. The main tool is the connection between MV polytopes and preprojective algebras developed by Baumann and Kamnitzer.

Multiplicative properties of a quantum Caldero-Chapoton map associated to valued quivers

We prove a multiplication theorem of a quantum Caldero-Chapoton map associated to valued quivers which extends the results in \cite{DX}\cite{D}. As an application, when $Q$ is a valued quiver of finite type or rank 2, we obtain that the algebra $\mathcal{AH}_{|k|}(Q)$ generated by all cluster characters (see Definition \ref{def}) is exactly the quantum cluster algebra $\mathcal{EH}_{|k|}(Q)$ and various bases of the quantum cluster algebras of rank 2 can naturally be deduced.
