Quantum fluctuation in an inhomogeneous background and its influence on the phase transition in a finite volume system

We have studied the grand potential and phase transitions of an inhomogeneous finite volume spherical quark system. First the finite volume effects are considered by applying the multiple reflection expansion method which is an approximation for the density of states of the momentum in the grand potential of the finite size system. Then, the density of states of momentum is further modified by the thermal fluctuations in the thermal system with the inhomogeneous field background. The modification of the density of states is calculated by the scattering phase shift from the Dirac equation of quarks in the inhomogeneous field background. By the numerical calculation we show how the phase transition is changed by varying the configuration of the inhomogeneous field background and find that the strong first order phase transition could be weakened or even changed to a crossover as a result.

Polarization energy loss in hot viscous quark-gluon plasma

The gluon polarization tensor for the quark-gluon plasma with shear viscosity is derived with the viscous chromohydrodynamics. The longitudinal and transverse dielectric functions are evaluated from the gluon polarization tensor, through which the polarization energy loss suffered by a fast quark traveling through the viscous quark-gluon plasma is investigated. The numerical analysis indicates that shear viscosity significantly reduces the polarization energy loss.

Studying the baryon properties through chiral soliton model at finite temperature and denstity

We have studied the chiral soliton model in a thermal vacuum. The soliton equations are solved at finite temperature and density. The temperature or density dependent soliton solutions are presented. The physical properties of baryons are derived from the soliton solutions at finite temperature and density. The temperature or density dependent variation of the baryon properties are discussed.

The refractive index in the viscous quark-gluon plasma

Under the framework of the viscous chromohydrodynamics, the gluon self-energy is derived for the quark-gluon plasma with shear viscosity. The viscous electric permittivity and magnetic permeability are evaluated from the gluon self-energy, through which the refraction index %in the %viscous quark-gluon plasma is investigated. The numerical analysis indicates that the refractive index becomes negative in some frequency range. The start point for that frequency range is around the electric permittivity pole, and the magnetic permeability pole determines the end point. As the increase of $η/s$, the frequency range for the negative refraction becomes wider.

The vacuum tunnelling and the crossover of deconfinement in Friedberg-Lee model

We have discussed the vacuum tunnelling in Friedberg-Lee model. The tunnelling coefficient is derived in the field configuration space by calculating the transition amplitude using the path integral under the stationary phase approximation and the dilute instanton gas approximation. By studying the tunnelling effect between the two degenerating vacuums at the critical temperature and chemical potential, we find that the system could be deconfined by tunnelling, which could possibly change the first order deconfinement phase transition to crossover.

Expanding the thermodynamical potential and the analysis of the possible phase diagram of deconfinement in FL model

The deconfinement phase transition is studied in the FL model at finite temperature and chemical potential. At MFT approximation, the phase transition can only be the first order in the whole $μ-T$ phase plane. By a Landau expansion we further study the phase transition order and the possible phase diagram of deconfinement. We discuss the possibilities of second order phase transitions in FL model. By our analysis the cubic term in the Landau expansion could be cancelled by the high order fluctuations. By an ansatz of the Landau parameters, we obtain the possible phase diagram with both first and second order phase transition including the tricritical point which is similar to that of the chiral phase transition.

The momentum analyticity of two-point correlators from perturbation theory and AdS/CFT

The momentum plane analyticity of two point function of a relativistic thermal field theory at zero chemical potential is explored. A general principle regarding the location of the singularities is extracted. In the case of the N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory at large $N_c$, a qualitative change in the nature of the singularity (branch points versus simple poles) from the weak coupling regime to the strong coupling regime is observed with the aid of the AdS/CFT correspondence.

To understand sQGP through non-topological FL model

The non-topological FL model is studied at finite temperature and density. The soliton solutions of the FL model in deconfinement phase transition are solved and thoroughly discussed for different boundary conditions. We indicate that the solitons before and after the deconfinement have different physical meanings: the soliton before deconfinement represents hadron, while the soliton after the deconfinement represents the bound state of quarks which leads to a sQGP phase. The corresponding phase diagram is given.

A Possible Mechanism for the Low Shear Viscosity in the QGP Created by RHIC

We study the Anderson Localization effect on the shear viscosity in a system with random medium by Kubo formula. We show that this effect can reduce the shear viscosity nonperturbatively. Then we discuss its possible implementation in heavy-ion collisions, where the created heavy bound states or other collective modes may play the role of the random scatterer underlying Anderson Localization effect.

Novel effects of electromagnetic interaction on the correlation of nucleons in nuclear matter

The electromagnetic(EM) interactions between charged protons on the correlations of nucleons are discussed by introducing the Anderson-Higgs mechanism of broken U(1) EM symmetry into the relativistic nuclear theory with a parametric photon mass. The non-saturating Coulomb force contribution is emphasized on the equation of state of nuclear matter with charge symmetry breaking(CSB) at finite temperature and the breached $^1S_0$ pairing correlations of proton-proton and neutron-neutron. The universal properties given by an order parameter field with a non-zero vacuum expectation value (VEV) nearby phase transition are explored within the mean field theory(MFT) level. This mechanism can be extended to the charged or charge neutralized strongly coupling multi-components system for the discussion of binding or pairing issues.

In-medium meson effects on the equation of state of hot and dense nuclear matter

The influence of the in-medium mesons on the effective nucleon mass and in turn on the equation of state of hot/dense nuclear matter is discussed in the Walecka model. Due to the self-consistent treatment of couplings between nucleons and $σ$ and $ω$ mesons, the temperature and density dependence of the effective hadron masses approaches more towards the Brown-Rho scaling law, and the compression modulus $K$ is reduced from $550 MeV$ in mean field theory to an accepted value $318.2 MeV$.
