Convolution of ultradistributions and ultradistribution spaces associated to translation-invariant Banach spaces

We introduce and study a number of new spaces of ultradifferentiable functions and ultradistributions and we apply our results to the study of the convolution of ultradistributions. The spaces of convolutors $\mathcal{O}'^{\ast}_{C}(\mathbb{R}^{d})$ for tempered ultradistributions are analyzed via the duality with respect to the test function spaces $\mathcal{O}^{\ast}_{C}(\mathbb{R}^{d})$, introduced in this article. We also study ultradistribution spaces associated to translation-invariant Banach spaces of tempered ultradistributions and use their properties to provide a full characterization of the general convolution of Roumieu ultradistributions via the space of integrable ultradistributions. We show that the convolution of two Roumieu ultradistributions $T,S\in \DD'^{\{M_p\}}\left(\RR^d\right)$ exists if and only if $\left(φ*\check{S}\right)T\in\DD'^{\{M_p\}}_{L^1}\left(\RR^d\right)$ for every $φ\in\DD^{\{M_p\}}\left(\RR^d\right)$.

Eigenfunction expansions of ultradifferentiable functions and ultradistributions in $\mathbb R^n$

We obtain a characterization of ${\mathcal S}^{\{M_p\}}_{\{M_p\}}(\mathbb R^n)$ and $\mathcal {S}^{(M_p)}_{(M_p)}(\mathbb {R}^n)$, the general Gelfand-Shilov spaces of ultradifferentiable functions of Roumieu and Beurling type, in terms of decay estimates for the Fourier coefficients of their elements with respect to eigenfunction expansions associated to normal globally elliptic differential operators of Shubin type. Moreover, we show that the eigenfunctions of such operators are absolute Schauder bases for these spaces of ultradifferentiable functions. Our characterization extends earlier results by Gramchev et al. (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 139 (2011), 4361-4368) for Gevrey weight sequences. It also generalizes to $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ recent results by Dasgupta and Ruzhansky which were obtained in the setting of compact manifolds.

Boundary values of holomorphic functions and heat kernel method in translation-invariant distribution spaces

We study boundary values of holomorphic functions in translation-invariant distribution spaces of type $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$. New edge of the wedge theorems are obtained. The results are then applied to represent $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$ as a quotient space of holomorphic functions. We also give representations of elements of $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$ via the heat kernel method. Our results cover as particular instances the cases of boundary values, analytic representations, and heat kernel representations in the context of the Schwartz spaces $\mathcal{D}'_{L^{p}}$, $\mathcal{B}'$, and their weighted versions.

New distribution spaces associated to translation-invariant Banach spaces

We introduce and study new distribution spaces, the test function space $\mathcal{D}_E$ and its strong dual $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$. These spaces generalize the Schwartz spaces $\mathcal{D}_{L^{q}}$, $\mathcal{D}'_{L^{p}}$, $\mathcal{B}'$ and their weighted versions. The construction of our new distribution spaces is based on the analysis of a suitable translation-invariant Banach space of distributions $E$ with continuous translation group, which turns out to be a convolution module over a Beurling algebra $L^{1}_ω$. The Banach space $E'_{\ast}$ stands for $L_{\checkω}^1\ast E'$. We also study convolution and multiplicative products on $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$.

On a class of translation-invariant spaces of quasianalytic ultradistributions

A class of translation-invariant Banach spaces of quasianalytic ultradistributions is introduced and studied. They are Banach modules over a Beurling algebra. Based on this class of Banach spaces, we define corresponding test function spaces $\mathcal{D}^*_E$ and their strong duals $\mathcal{D}'^*_{E'_{\ast}}$ of quasianalytic type, and study convolution and multiplicative products on $\mathcal{D}'^*_{E'_{\ast}}$. These new spaces generalize previous works about translation-invariant spaces of tempered (non-quasianalytic ultra-) distributions; in particular, our new considerations apply to the settings of Fourier hyperfunctions and ultrahyperfunctions. New weighted $\mathcal{D}'^{\ast}_{L^{p}_η}$ spaces of quasianalytic ultradistributions are analyzed.

The wavelet transforms in Gelfand-Shilov spaces

We describe local and global properties of wavelet transforms of ultradifferentiable functions. The results are given in the form of continuity properties of the wavelet transform on Gelfand-Shilov type spaces and their duals. In particular, we introduce a new family of highly time-scale localized spaces on the upper half-space. We study the wavelet synthesis operator (the left-inverse of the wavelet transform) and obtain the resolution of identity (Calderón reproducing formula) in the context of ultradistributions.

Multiresolution expansions of distributions: Pointwise convergence and quasiasymptotic behavior

In several variables, we prove the pointwise convergence of multiresolution expansions to the distributional point values of tempered distributions and distributions of superexponential growth. The article extends and improves earlier results by G. G. Walter and B. K. Sohn and D. H. Pahk that were shown in one variable. We also provide characterizations of the quasiasymptotic behavior of distributions at finite points and discuss connections with $α$-density points of measures.

Asymptotic distribution of integers with certain prime factorizations

Let $p_{1}<p_2<... <p_ν<...$ be the sequence of prime numbers and let $m$ be a positive integer. We give a strong asymptotic formula for the distribution of the set of integers having prime factorizations of the form $p_{m^{k_1}}p_{m^{k_{2}}...p_{m^{k_{n}}}$ with $k_{1}\le k_{2}\le...\le k_{n}$. Such integers originate in various combinatorial counting problems; when $m=2$, they arise as Matula numbers of certain rooted trees.

Multidimensional Tauberian theorems for vector-valued distributions

We prove several Tauberian theorems for regularizing transforms of vector-valued distributions. The regularizing transform of $f$ is given by the integral transform $M^{f}_φ(x,y)=(f\astφ_{y})(x),$ $(x,y)\in\mathbb{R}^{n}\times\mathbb{R}_{+}$, with kernel $φ_{y}(t)=y^{-n}φ(t/y)$. We apply our results to the analysis of asymptotic stability for a class of Cauchy problems, Tauberian theorems for the Laplace transform, the comparison of quasiasymptotics in distribution spaces, and we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the trace of a distribution on $\left\{x_0\right\}\times \mathbb R^m$. In addition, we present a new proof of Littlewood's Tauberian theorem.

On Borel summability and analytic functionals

We show that a formal power series has positive radius of convergence if and only if it is uniformly Borel summable over a circle with center at the origin. Consequently, we obtain that an entire function $f$ is of exponential type if and only if the formal power series $\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}f^{(n)}(0)z^{n}$ is uniformly Borel summable over a circle centered a the origin. We apply these results to obtain a characterization of those Silva tempered ultradistributions which are analytic functionals. We also use Borel summability to represent analytic functionals as Borel sums of their moment Taylor series over the Borel polygon.

On distributional point values and boundary values of analytic functions

We give the following version of Fatou's theorem for distributions that are boundary values of analytic functions. We prove that if $f\in\mathcal{D}^{\prime}(a,b) $ is the distributional limit of the analytic function $F$ defined in a region of the form $(a,b) \times(0,R),$ if the one sided distributional limit exists, $f(x_{0}+0) =γ,$ and if $f$ is distributionally bounded at $x=x_{0}$, then the Łojasiewicz point value exists, $f(x_{0})=γ$ distributionally, and in particular $F(z)\to γ$ as $z\to x_{0}$ in a non-tangential fashion.

Chebyshev Estimates for Beurling Generalized Prime Numbers. I

We provide new sufficient conditions for Chebyshev estimates for Beurling generalized primes. It is shown that if the counting function $N$ of a generalized number system satisfies the $L^{1}$-condition $$ \int_{1}^{\infty}|\frac{N(x)-ax}{x}|\frac{\mathrm{d}x}{x}<\infty $$ and $N(x)=ax+o(x/\log x),$ for some $a>0$, then $$ 0<\liminf_{x\to\infty}\frac{ψ(x)}{x}\ \ \ {and}\ \ \ \limsup_{x\to\infty}\frac{ψ(x)}{x}<\infty $$ hold. We give an analytic proof of this result. It is based on Wiener division theorem. Our result extends those of Diamond (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 39 (1973), 503--508) and Zhang (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 101 (1987), 205--212).

Chebyshev Upper Estimates for Beurling's Generalized Prime Numbers

Let $N$ be the counting function of a Beurling generalized number system and let $π$ be the counting function of its primes. We show that the $L^{1}$-condition $$ \int_{1}^{\infty}|\frac{N(x)-ax}{x}|\frac{\mathrm{d}x}{x}<\infty $$ and the asymptotic behavior $$N(x)=ax+O(\frac{x}{\log x}),$$ for some $a>0$, suffice for a Chebyshev upper estimate $$ \frac{π(x)\log x}{x}\leq B<\infty. $$

Distributional versions of Littlewood's Tauberian theorem

We provide several general versions of Littlewood's Tauberian theorem. These versions are applicable to Laplace transforms of Schwartz distributions. We apply these Tauberian results to deduce a number of Tauberian theorems for power series where Cesàro summability follows from Abel summability. We also use our general results to give a new simple proof of the classical Littlewood one-sided Tauberian theorem for power series.

A General Integral

We define an integral, the distributional integral of functions of one real variable, that is more general than the Lebesgue and the Denjoy-Perron-Henstock-Kurzweil integrals, and which allows the integration of functions with distributional values everywhere or nearly everywhere. Our integral has the property that if $f$ is locally distributionally integrable over the real line and $ψ\in\mathcal{D}(\mathbb{R}%) $ is a test function, then $fψ$ is distributionally integrable, and the formula% [<\mathsf{f},ψ> =(\mathfrak{dist}) \int_{-\infty}^{\infty}f(x) ψ(x) \,\mathrm{d}% x\,,] defines a distribution $\mathsf{f}\in\mathcal{D}^{\prime}(\mathbb{R}) $ that has distributional point values almost everywhere and actually $\mathsf{f}(x) =f(x) $ almost everywhere. The indefinite distributional integral $F(x) =(\mathfrak{dist}) \int_{a}^{x}f(t) \,\mathrm{d}t$ corresponds to a distribution with point values everywhere and whose distributional derivative has point values almost everywhere equal to $f(x).$ The distributional integral is more general than the standard integrals, but it still has many of the useful properties of those standard ones, including integration by parts formulas, substitution formulas, even for infinite intervals --in the Cesàro sense--, mean value theorems, and convergence theorems. The distributional integral satisfies a version of Hake's theorem. Unlike general distributions, locally distributionally integrable functions can be restricted to closed sets and can be multiplied by power functions with real positive exponents.

Multidimensional Tauberian theorems for wavelet and non-wavelet transforms

We study several Tauberian properties of regularizing transforms of tempered distributions with values in Banach spaces, that is, transforms of the form $M^{\mathbf{f}}_ϕ(x,y)=(\mathbf{f}\astϕ_{y})(x)$, where the kernel $ϕ$ is a test function and $ϕ_{y}(\cdot)=y^{-n}ϕ(\cdot/y)$. If the zeroth moment of $ϕ$ vanishes, it is a wavelet type transform; otherwise, we say it is a non-wavelet type transform. The first aim of this work is to show that the scaling (weak) asymptotic properties of distributions are \emph{completely} determined by boundary asymptotics of the regularizing transform plus natural Tauberian hypotheses. Our second goal is to characterize the spaces of Banach space-valued tempered distributions in terms of the transform $M^{\mathbf{f}}_ϕ(x,y)$. We investigate conditions which ensure that a distribution that a priori takes values in locally convex space actually takes values in a narrower Banach space. Special attention is paid to find the \emph{optimal} class of kernels $ϕ$ for which these Tauberian results hold. We give various applications of our Tauberian theory in the pointwise and (micro-)local regularity analysis of Banach space-valued distributions, and develop a number of techniques which are specially useful when applied to scalar-valued functions and distributions. Among such applications, we obtain the full weak-asymptotic series expansion of the family of Riemann-type distributions $R_β(x)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}e^{iπxn^{2}}/n^{2β}$, $β\in\mathbb{C}$, at every rational point. We also apply the results to regularity theory within generalized function algebras, to the stabilization of solutions for a class of Cauchy problems, and to Tauberian theorems for the Laplace transform.
