Spherical photon orbits around a rotating black hole with quintessence and cloud of strings

In this paper, we calculate the analytical solutions for the radii of planar and polar spherical photon orbits around a rotating black hole that is associated with quintessential field and cloud of strings. This includes a full analytical treatment of a quintic that describes orbits on the equatorial plane. Furthermore, The radial profile of the impact parameters is studied and the radii corresponding to the extreme cases are derived. For the more general cases, we also discuss the photon regions that form around this black hole. To simulate the orbits that appear in different inclinations, we analytically solve the latitudinal and azimuth equations of motion in terms of the Weierstrassian elliptic functions, by considering the radii of spherical orbits, in their general form, as the initial conditions. The period and the stability conditions of the orbits are also obtained analytically.

Classical tests on a charged Weyl black hole: bending of light, Shapiro delay and Sagnac effect

In this paper, we apply the classical test of general relativity on a charged Weyl black hole, whose exterior geometry is defined by altering the spherically symmetric solutions of Weyl conformal theory of gravity. The tests are basically founded on scrutinizing the angular geodesics of light rays propagating in the gravitating system caused by the black hole. In this investigation, we bring detailed discussions about the bending of light, together with two other relativistic effects, known as the Shapiro and the Sagnac effects. We show that the results are in good conformity with the general relativistic effects, besides giving long-distance corrections caused by the cosmological nature of the background geometry under study.

No slow-roll inflation à la Generalized Chaplygin Gas in General Relativity

The Generalized Chaplygin Gas (GCG) model is characterized by the equation of state $P = -A ρ^{-α}$, where $A>0$ and $α< 1$. The model has been extensively studied due to its interesting properties and applicability in several contexts, from late-time acceleration to primordial inflation. Nonetheless we show that the inflationary slow-roll regime cannot be satisfied by most of the parameter space of the GCG model when General Relativity (GR) is considered. In particular, although the model has been applied to inflation with $0 < α< 1$, we show that for $-1 < α\le 1$ there is no expansion of the Universe but an accelerated contraction. For $α\le -5/3$, the second slow-roll parameter $η_H$ is larger than unity, so there is no sustained period of inflation. Only for $α$ very close to -1 the model produces enough $e$-folds, thus greatly reducing its parameter space. Moreover, we show that the model is ruled out by the Planck 2018 results. Finally, we extend our analysis to the Generalized Chaplygin-Jacobi Gas (GCJG) model. We find that the introduction of a new parameter does not change the previous results. We thus conclude that the violation of the slow-roll conditions is a generic feature of the GCG and GCJG models during inflation when GR is considered and that the models are ruled out by the Planck 2018 results.

Photons trajectories on a first order scale-dependent static BTZ black hole

In this paper we study the motion of massless particles on a static BTZ black hole background in the context of scale-dependent gravity, which is characterized by the running parameter $ε$. Thus, by using standard methods we obtain the equation of motions and then analytic solutions are found. The relevant non-trivial differences appear when we compare our solution against the classical counterpart.

Photon spheres in Einstein and Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theories and circular null geodesics in axially-symmetric spacetimes

In this article we extend a recent theorem proven by Hod (Phys. Lett. B, {\bf 727}, 345--348, 2013) to $n$-dimensional Einstein and Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theories, which gives an upper bound for the photon sphere radii of spherically symmetric black holes. As applications of these results we give a universal upper bound for the real part of quasinormal modes in the WKB limit and a universal lower bound for the position of the first relativistic image in the strong lensing regime produced by these type of black holes. For the axially-symmetric case, we also make some general comments (independent of the underlying gravitational theory) on the relation between circular null geodesics and the fastest way to circle a black hole.

A Jacobian elliptic single-field inflation

In the scenario of single-field inflation, this field is done in terms of Jacobian elliptic functions. This approach provides, when constrained to particular cases, analytic solutions already known in the past, generalizing them to a bigger family of analytical solutions. The emergent cosmology is analysed using the Hamilton-Jacobi approach and then, the main results are contrasted with the recent measurements obtained from the Planck 2015 data.

Gravitational Rutherford scattering and Keplerian orbits for electrically charged bodies in heterotic string theory

Properties of the motion of electrically charged particles in the background of the Gibbons-Maeda-Garfinkle-Horowitz-Strominger (GMGHS) black hole is presented in this paper. Radial and angular motion are studied analytically for different values of the fundamental parameter. Therefore, gravitational Rutherford scattering and Keplerian orbits are analysed in detail. Finally, this paper complements previous work by Fernando for null geodesics (Phys. Rev. D 85: 024033, 2012), Olivares & Villanueva (Eur. Phys. J. C 73: 2659, 2013) and Blaga (Automat. Comp. Appl. Math. 22, 41 (2013); Serb. Astron. J. 190, 41 (2015)) for time-like geodesics.

Testing a dissipative kinetic k-essence model

In this work, we present a study of a purely kinetic k-essence model, characterized basically by a parameter $α$ in presence of a bulk dissipative term, whose relationship between viscous pressure $Π$ and energy density $ρ$ of the background follows a polytropic type law $Π\propto ρ^{λ+1/2}$, where $λ$, in principle, is a parameter without restrictions. Analytical solutions for the energy density of the k-essence field are found in two specific cases: $λ=1/2$ and $λ=(1-α)/2α$, and then we show that these solutions posses the same functional form than the non-viscous counterpart. Finally, both approach are contrasted with observational data from type Ia supernova, and the most recent Hubble parameter measurements, and therefore, the best values for the parameters of the theory are founds.

The generalized Chaplygin-Jacobi gas

The present paper is devoted to find a new generalization of the generalized Chaplygin gas. Therefore, starting from the Hubble parameter associated to the Chaplygin scalar field and using some elliptic identities, the elliptic generalization is straightforward. Thus, all relevant quantities that drive inflation are calculated exactly. Finally, using the measurement on inflation from the Planck 2015 results, observational constraints on the parameters are given.

Motion of particles on a $z=2$ Lifshitz black hole in 3+1 dimensions

We study the geodesic structure of a $z=2$ Lifshitz black hole in 3+1 spacetime dimensions that is an exact solution to the Einstein-scalar-Maxwell theory. We investigate the motion of massless and massive particles in this background using the standard Lagrangian procedure. Analytical expressions are obtained for radial and angular motions of the test particles, where the polar trajectories are given in terms of the $\wp$ - Weierstrass elliptic function. It is shown that confined orbits are not allowed on this spacetime, this result agrees with the obtained recently in the literature for other Lifshitz black holes.

Semi-holographic model including the radiation component

In this letter we study the semi holographic model which corresponds to the radiative version of the model proposed by Zhang et al. (Phys. Lett. B 694 (2010), 177) and revisited by Cárdenas et al. (Mon. Not. Roy. Astron. Soc. 438 (2014), 3603). This inclusion makes the model more realistic, so allows us to test it with current observational data and then answer if the inconsistency reported by Cárdenas et al. is relaxed.

About the coordinate time for photons in Lifshitz Space-times

In this paper we studied the behavior of radial photons from the point of view of the coordinate time in (asymptotically) Lifshitz space-times, and we found a generalization to the result reported in previous works by Cruz et. al. [Eur. Phys. J. C {\bf 73}, 7 (2013)], Olivares et. al. [Astrophys. Space Sci. {\bf 347}, 83-89 (2013)], and Olivares et. al. [arXiv: 1306.5285]. We demonstrate that all asymptotically Lifshitz space-times characterized by a lapse funcion $f(r)$ which tends to one when $r\rightarrow \infty$, present the same behavior, in the sense that an external observer will see that photons arrive at spatial infinity in a finite coordinate time. Also, we show that radial photons in the proper system cannot determine the presence of the black hole in the region $r_+<r<\infty$, because the proper time results to be independent of the lapse function $f(r)$.

Geodesic Structure of Lifshitz Black Holes in 2+1 Dimensions

We present a study of the geodesic equations of a black hole space-time which is a solution of the three-dimensional NMG theory and is asymptotically Lifshitz with $z=3$ and $d=1$ as found in [Ayon-Beato E., Garbarz A., Giribet G. and Hassaine M., Phys. Rev. {\bf D} 80, 104029 (2009)]. By means of the corresponding effective potentials for massive particles and photons we find the allowed motions by the energy levels. Exact solutions for radial and non-radial geodesics are given in terms of the Weierstrass elliptic $\wp$, $σ$, and $ζ$ functions.

Massive neutral particles on heterotic string theory

The motion of massive particles in the background of a charged black hole in heterotic string theory, which is characterized by a parameter $α$, is studied in detail in this paper. Since it is possible to write this space-time in the Einstein frame, we perform a quantitative analysis of the time-like geodesics by means of the standard Lagrange procedure. Thus, we obtain and solve a set of differential equations and then we describe the orbits in terms of the elliptic $\wp$-Weierstraß function. Also, by making an elementary derivation developed by Cornbleet (Am. J. Phys. \textbf{61} 7, (1993) 650 - 651) we obtain the correction to the angle of advance of perihelion to first order in $α$, and thus, by comparing with Mercury's data we give an estimation for the value of this parameter, which yields an {\it heterotic solar charge} $Q_{\odot}\simeq 0.728\,[\textrm{Km}]= 0.493\, M_{\odot}$. Therefore, in addition to the study on null geodesics performed by Fernando (Phys. Rev. D {\bf 85}, (2012) 024033), this work completes the geodesic structure for this class of space-time.

On the Null Trajectories in Conformal Weyl Gravity

In this work we find analytical solutions to the null geodesics around a black hole in the conformal Weyl gravity. Exact expressions for the horizons are found, and they depend on the cosmological constant and the coupling constants of the conformal Weyl gravity. Then, we study the radial motion from the point of view of the proper and coordinate frames, and compare it with that found in spacetimes of general relativity. The angular motion is also examined qualitatively by means of an effective potential; quantitatively, the equation of motion is solved in terms of $\wp$-Weierstrass elliptic function. Thus, we find the deflection angle for photons without using any approximation, which is a novel result for this kind of gravity.

Particles motion on topological Lifshitz black holes in 3+1 dimensions

In the present paper we study the causal structure of a topological black hole presented by Mann R. B. JHEP 06, 075 (2009) by mean the standard Lagrangian procedure, which allow us analyze qualitatively the behavior of test particles using the effective potential. Then, the geodesic motion of massive and massless particles is obtained analytically. We find that confined orbits are forbidden on this spacetime, however radial photons can escape to infinity in an infinite proper time but in a finite coordinate time, this correspond to an interesting and novel result.

Semi-holographic model revisited

In a recent work Zhang, Li and Noh [Phys. Lett. B {\bf 694}, 177 (2010)]proposed a model for dark energy assuming this component strictly obeys the holographic principle. They performed a dynamical system analysis, finding a scaling solution which is helpful to solve the coincidence problem. However they need explicitly a cosmological constant. In this paper we derive an explicit analytical solution, without $Λ$, that shows agreement with the Supernovae data. However this solution is not physical because violate all the energy conditions.

Motion of charged particles on the Reissner-Nordström (Anti)-de Sitter black holes

In this work we address the study of movement of charged particles in the background of charged black holes with non-trivial asymptotic behavior. We compute the exact trajectories for massive-charged particles in term of elliptic Jacobi function. Finally we obtain a detailed description of orbits for Reissner-Nordström (Anti)-de Sitter black holes in terms of charge, mass and energy of the particles.

Null geodesics in the Reissner-Nordström Anti-de Sitter black holes

In this work we address the study of null geodesics in the background of Reissner-Nordström Anti de Sitter black holes. We compute the exact trajectories in terms of elliptic functions of Weierstrass, obtaining a detailed description of the orbits in terms of charge, mass and the cosmological constant. The trajectories of the photon are classified using the impact parameter.
