Linear and nonlinear optical absorption of position-dependent mass oscillators

We study the linear $(α^{(1)} )$, nonlinear $(α^{(3)})$ and total $(α)$ optical absorptions of position-dependent mass oscillators (PDMOs). We consider three mass distributions $(m(x,λ))$ used to describe semiconducting structures; $λ$ is a deformation parameter. In the limit $λ\rightarrow 0$, the three systems describe electrons in a parabolic quantum well. For the system $m_1(x)=m_0/[1+(λx)^2 ]^2$ we observe that $α^{(1)}(ω)) (α^{(3)}(ω))$ increases (decreases) with increasing $λ$. For $m_2 (x)=m_0 [1+(λx)^2 ]$ and $m_3(x)=m_0 [1 + tanh^2 (λx) ]$ the opposite occurs. In the light of the PDMO approach we observe the $m_2 (x)$ and $m_3(x)$ systems are very similar, and can not be distinguished by optical transitions between the two lowest electronic levels. We also discussed about the total optical absorption of the systems.

An Exact Solution to the Quantized Electromagnetic Field in D-dimensional de Sitter Spacetimes

In this work we investigate the quantum theory of light propagating in $D-$dimensional de Sitter spacetimes. To do so, we use the method of dynamic invariants to obtain the solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. The quantum behavior of the electromagnetic field in this background is analyzed. As the electromagnetism loses its conformality in $D\neq4$, we point that there will be particle production and comoving objects will feel a Bunch-Davies thermal bath. This may become important in extra dimension physics and raises the intriguing possibility that precise measurements of the Cosmic Microwave Background could verify the existence of extra dimensions.

Quantum Kalb-Ramond Field in D-dimensional de Sitter Spacetimes

In this work we investigate the quantum theory of the Kalb-Ramond fields propagating in $D-$dimensional de Sitter spacetimes using the dynamic invariant method developed by Lewis and Riesenfeld [J. Math. Phys. 10, 1458 (1969)] to obtain the solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. The wave function is written in terms of a $c-$number quantity satisfying of the Milne-Pinney equation, whose solution can be expressed in terms of two independent solutions of the respective equation of motion. We obtain the exact solution for the quantum Kalb-Ramond field in the de Sitter background and discuss its relation with the Cremmer-Scherk-Kalb-Ramond model.

Quantum Scalar Field in D-dimensional de Sitter Spacetimes

In this work we investigate the quantum theory of scalar fields propagating in a $D-$dimensional de Sitter spacetime. The method of dynamic invariants is used to obtain the solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. The quantum behavior of the scalar field in this background is analyzed, and the results generalize previous ones found in the literature. We point that the Bunch-Davies thermal bath depends on the choice of $D$ and the conformal parameter $ξ$. This is important in extra dimension physics, as in the Randall-Sundrum model.

Wavefunctios of log-periodic oscillators

We use the Lewis and Riesenfeld invariant method [\textit{J. Math. Phys.} \textbf{10}, 1458 (1969)] and a unitary transformation to obtain the exact Schrödinger wave functions for time-dependent harmonic oscillators exhibiting log-periodic-type behavior. For each oscillator we calculate the quantum fluctuations in the coordinate and momentum as well as the quantum correlations between the coordinate and momentum. We observe that the oscillator with $m=m_0t/t_0$ and $ω= ω_0t_0/t$, which exhibits an exact log-periodic oscillation, behaves as the harmonic oscillator with $m$ and $ω$ constant.

Concentration-Pressure phase diagram for rich Zr PZT ceramics

This work reports on the systematic high pressure Raman studies in the PbZr$_{1-x}$Ti$_x$O$_3$ ($0.02 \leq x \leq 0.14$) ceramics performed at room temperature. The pressure dependence of the Raman spectra reveals the stable phases of the material under pressure variation. The results allowed us to propose a concentration-pressure phase diagram for rich Zr PZT system up to pressures of 5.0 GPa.
