Strange Hadron Spectroscopy with Secondary KL Beam in Hall D

We propose to create a secondary beam of neutral kaons in Hall D at Jefferson Lab to be used with the GlueX experimental setup for strange hadron spectroscopy. The superior CEBAF electron beam will enable a flux on the order of 1×104 KL/sec1\times 10^4~K_L/sec, which exceeds the flux of that previously attained at SLAC by three orders of magnitude. The use of a deuteron target will provide first measurements ever with neutral kaons on neutrons. The experiment will measure both differential cross sections and self-analyzed polarizations of the produced ΛΛ, ΣΣ, ΞΞ, and ΩΩ hyperons using the GlueX detector at the Jefferson Lab Hall D. The measurements will span CM cos⁡θ\cosθ from −0.95-0.95 to 0.95 in the range W = 1490 MeV to 2500 MeV. The new data will significantly constrain the partial wave analyses and reduce model-dependent uncertainties in the extraction of the properties and pole positions of the strange hyperon resonances, and establish the orbitally excited multiplets in the spectra of the ΞΞ and ΩΩ hyperons. Comparison with the corresponding multiplets in the spectra of the charm and bottom hyperons will provide insight into he accuracy of QCD-based calculations over a large range of masses. The proposed facility will have a defining impact in the strange meson sector through measurements of the final state KπKπ system up to 2 GeV invariant mass. This will allow the determination of pole positions and widths of all relevant K∗(Kπ)K^\ast(Kπ) SS-,PP-,DD-,FF-, and GG-wave resonances, settle the question of the existence or nonexistence of scalar meson κ/K0∗(700)κ/K_0^\ast(700) and improve the constrains on their pole parameters. Subsequently improving our knowledge of the low-lying scalar nonet in general.

Photoproduction of the Scalar Meson f0(500)f_0(500)

In the present talk, we report a recent investigation on photoproduction of the γN→f0(500)NγN \to f_0(500)N within a framework of the effective Lagrangian. We include the nucleon resonances with pin 1/21/2 in the ss channel. The coupling constants have been etermined by assuming that the decay process N∗→(ππ)I=0,J=0NN^* \to (ππ)_{I=0,J=0}N can be regarded as N∗→f0(500)NN^* \to f_0(500) N. We discuss the numerical results for the total cross sections and possible extension of the present work.

Variational Analysis of Mass Spectra and Decay Constants for Ground State Pseudoscalar and Vector Mesons in Light-Front Quark Model

Using the variational principle, we compute mass spectra and decay constants of ground state pseudoscalar and vector mesons in the light-front quark model (LFQM) with the QCD-motivated effective Hamiltonian including the hyperfine interaction. By smearing out the Dirac delta function in the hyperfine interaction, we avoid the issue of negative infinity in applying the variational principle to the computation of meson mass spectra and provide analytic expressions for the meson mass spectra. Our analysis with the smeared hyperfine interaction indicates that the interaction for the heavy meson sector including the bottom and charm quarks gets more point-like. We also consider the flavor mixing effect in our analysis and determine the mixing angles from the mass spectra of (ω,ϕ)(ω,ϕ) and (η,η′)(η,η'). Our variational analysis with the trial wave function including the two lowest order harmonic oscillator basis functions appears to improve the agreement with the data of meson decay constants and the heavy meson mass spectra over the previous computation handling the hyperfine interaction as perturbation.

Hadronic description for Omega baryon photoproduction

In the present work, we investigate subsequential production of three kaons and Ω−Ω^- baryon based on an effective Lagrangian approach. We only consider the intermediate states with the light mass baryon to suggest the minimum of the total cross section. Coupling constants for verteces of meson-octet baryons are fixed from the empirical data and/or quark models together with SU(3) symmetry considerations and these for meson-decouplet are predicted not only quark model but also Chiral-quark soliton model calculation. Gauge invariance of the resulting amplitude is maintained by introducing the contact currents by extending the gauge-invariant approach of Haberzettl for one-meson photoproduction to two-meson photoproduction.

ϕϕ photoprodution with coupled-channel effects

We study phi photoproduction with various hadronic rescattering contributions included, in addition to the Pomeron and pseudoscalar meson-exchange diagrams. We find that the hadronic box diagrams can explain the recent experimental data in the vicinity of the threshold. In particular, the bump-like structure at the photon energy E_gamma \approx 2.3$ GeV is well explained by the K Lambda(1520) rescattering amplitude in the intermediate state, which is the dominant contribution among other hadronic contributions. We also find that the hadronic box diagrams are consistent with the observed spin-density matrix elements near the threshold region.
