Strong decays of $T_{c\bar s0}(2900)^{++/0}$ as a fully open-flavor tetraquark state

We have studied the strong decay properties of the recently observed $T^a_{c\bar s0}(2900)^{++/0}$ by considering it as a $cu\bar{d}\bar{s}/cd\bar{u}\bar{s}$ fully open-flavor tetraquark state with $I(J^P)=1(0^+)$. In the framework of QCD sum rules, we have calculated the three-point correlation functions of the two-body strong decay processes $T^a_{c\bar s0}(2900)^{++}\rightarrow D_s^+π^+$, $D^+K^+, D_s^{\ast +}ρ^+$ and $D_{s1}^+π^+$. The full width of $T^a_{c\bar s0}(2900)^{++/0}$ is obtained as $161.7\pm94.8$ MeV, which is consistent with the experimental observation. We predict the relative branching ratios as $Γ(T\rightarrow D_sπ):Γ(T\rightarrow DK):Γ(T\rightarrow D_s^{\ast} ρ):Γ(T\rightarrow D_{s1}π)\approx1.00:1.10:0.04:0.43$, implying that the main decay modes of $T^a_{c\bar s0}(2900)^{++/0}$ state are $D_sπ$ and $DK$ channels in our calculations. However, the $P$-wave decay mode $D_{s1}π$ is also comparable and important by including the uncertainties. To further identify the nature of $T^a_{c\bar s0}(2900)^{++/0}$, we suggest confirming them in the $DK$ and $D_{s}π$ final states, and measuring the above ratios in future experiments.

$S$- and $P$-wave fully-strange tetraquark states from QCD sum rules

We apply the QCD sum rule method to systematically study the $S$- and $P$-wave fully-strange tetraquark states within the diquark-antidiquark picture. We systematically construct their interpolating currents by explicitly adding the covariant derivative operator. Our results suggest that the $f_0(2100)$, $X(2063)$, and $f_2(2010)$ may be explained as the $S$-wave $s s \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark states with the quantum numbers $J^{PC} = 0^{++}$, $1^{+-}$, and $2^{++}$, respectively. Our results also suggest that both the $X(2370)$ and $X(2500)$ may be explained as the $P$-wave $s s \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark states of $J^{PC} = 0^{-+}$, and both the $ϕ(2170)$ and $X(2400)$ may be explained as the $P$-wave $s s \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark states of $J^{PC} = 1^{--}$. The masses of the $s s \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark states with the exotic quantum number $J^{PC} = 1^{-+}$ are extracted from two non-correlated currents to be $2.45^{+0.20}_{-0.25}$ GeV and $2.49^{+0.21}_{-0.25}$ GeV.

Hadronic molecules in B decays

There are eighteen possibly existing $D^{(*)} \bar D^{(*)}$, $D^{(*)} \bar K^{(*)}$, and $D^{(*)} D_s^{(*)-}$ hadronic molecular states. We construct their corresponding interpolating currents, and calculate their masses and decay constants using QCD sum rules. Based on these results, we calculate their relative production rates in $B$ and $B^*$ decays through the current algebra, and calculate their relative branching ratios through the Fierz rearrangement, as summarized in Table III. Our results support the interpretations of the $X(3872)$, $Z_c(3900)$, $Z_c(4020)$, and $X_0(2900)$ as the molecular states $D \bar D^*$ of $J^{PC} = 1^{++}$, $D \bar D^*$ of $J^{PC} = 1^{+-}$, $D^* \bar D^*$ of $J^{PC} = 1^{+-}$, and $D^* \bar K^*$ of $J^P = 0^{+}$, respectively. Our results also suggest that the $Z_{cs}(3985)$, $Z_{cs}(4000)$, and $Z_{cs}(4220)$ are strange partners of the $X(3872)$, $Z_c(3900)$, and $Z_c(4020)$, respectively. In the calculations we estimate the lifetime of a weakly-coupled composite particle $A = |BC\rangle$ to be $1/t_A \approx 1/t_B + 1/t_C + Γ_{A \to BC} + \cdots$, with $\cdots$ partial widths of other possible decay channels.

Hidden-charm pentaquark states through the current algebra: From their productions to decays

There may exist seven $\bar D^{(*)} Σ_c^{(*)}$ hadronic molecular states. We construct their corresponding interpolating currents, and calculate their masses and decay constants using QCD sum rules. Based on these results, we calculate their relative production rates in $Λ_b^0$ decays through the current algebra, i.e., $\mathcal{B}(Λ_b^0 \to P_c K^-):\mathcal{B}(Λ_b^0 \to P_c^\prime K^-)$ with $P_c$ and $P_c^\prime$ two different states. We also study their decay properties through the Fierz rearrangement, and further calculate these ratios in the $J/ψp$ mass spectrum, i.e., $\mathcal{B}(Λ_b^0 \to P_c K^- \to J/ψp K^-):\mathcal{B}(Λ_b^0 \to P_c^\prime K^- \to J/ψp K^-)$. Our results suggest that the $\bar D^{*} Σ_c^{*}$ molecular states of $J^P = 1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$ are possible to be observed in future experiments.

Identifying the $Ξ_b(6100)$ as the $P$-wave bottom baryon of $J^P=3/2^-$

We study the $Ξ_b(6100)$ using the methods of QCD sum rules and light-cone sum rules within the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Our results suggest that the $Ξ_b(6100)$ can be well interpreted as the $P$-wave bottom baryon of $J^P=3/2^-$, belonging to the $SU(3)$ flavor $\mathbf{\bar 3}_F$ representation. It has a partner state of $J^P=1/2^-$, labelled as $Ξ_b(1/2^-)$, whose mass and width are predicted to be $m_{Ξ_b(1/2^-)}=6.08^{+0.13}_{-0.11}$~GeV and $Γ_{Ξ_b(1/2^-)}=4^{+29}_{-~4}$~MeV, with the mass splitting $ΔM=m_{Ξ_b(6100)}-m_{Ξ_b(1/2^-)}=9\pm3$~MeV. We propose to search for it in the $Ξ_c({1/2}^-)\to Ξ_b^{\prime}π$ decay channel. Our results also suggest that the $Λ_b(5912)$ and $Λ_b(5920)$ are their partner states with $J^P=1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$ respectively, and moreover, the $Λ_c(2595)$, $Λ_c(2625)$, $Ξ_c(2790)$, and $Ξ_c(2815)$ are their charmed partner states.

New hadron configuration: The double-gluon hybrid state

This is the first study on the double-gluon hybrid, which consists of one valence quark and one valence antiquark together with two valence gluons. We concentrate on the one with the exotic quantum number $J^{PC} = 2^{+-}$ that conventional $\bar q q$ mesons can not reach. We apply QCD sum rule method to evaluate its mass to be $2.26^{+0.20}_{-0.25}$ GeV, and study its possible decay patterns. Especially, its three-meson decay patterns are generally not suppressed severely compared to two-meson decay patterns, so the $S$-wave three-meson decay channels $f_1ωπ/f_1ρπ$ can be useful in identifying its nature, which is of particular importance to the direct test of QCD in the low energy sector.

Newly observed $a_0(1817)$ as the scaling point of constructing the scalar meson spectroscopy

Stimulated by the newly observed $a_0(1817)$ by the BESIII Collaboration, we find a perfect Regge trajectory composed of the $a_0(980)$, $a_0(1450)$, and $a_0(1817)$, which leads us to categorize the $a_0(980)$, $a_0(1450)$, and $a_0(1817)$ into the isovector scalar meson family. This scenario is supported by their two-body Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka allowed strong decay behaviors. In this scheme, we also predict the third radial excitation of the $a_0(980)$, which is denoted as the $a_0(2115)$, accessible at future experiment as a direct test of this assignment. We find another Regge trajectory which contains three isoscalar scalar states $f_0(980)$, $X(1812)$, and $f_0(2100)$. We investigate their two-body Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka allowed strong decay patterns, which are roughly consistent with the experimental data. The $f_0(980)$, $X(1812)$, and $f_0(2100)$ can be well grouped into the isoscalar scalar meson family. We want to emphasize that these two Regge trajectories have a similar slope. In summary, the present work provides a scheme of constructing the scalar meson family based on these reported scalar states. The possibility of the $f_0(1710)$ as the candidate of the scalar glueball cannot be excluded by the observation of the $a_0(1817)$ since the $a_0(1817)$ is more suitable as the isovector partner of the $X(1812)$.

QCD axial anomaly enhances the $ηη^\prime$ decay of the hybrid candidate $η_1(1855)$

We study the hybrid mesons with the exotic quantum number $I^GJ^{PC} = 0^+1^{-+}$ and investigate their decays into the $ηη^\prime$, $a_1(1260) π$, $f_1(1285) η$, $f_1(1420) η$, $K^*(892) \bar K$, $K_1(1270) \bar K$, and $K_1(1400) \bar K$ channels. We find that the QCD axial anomaly enhances the decay width of the $ηη^\prime$ channel although this mode is strongly suppressed by the small $P$-wave phase space. Our results support the interpretation of the $η_1(1855)$ recently observed by BESIII as the $\bar s s g$ hybrid meson of $I^GJ^{PC}=0^+1^{-+}$. The QCD axial anomaly ensures the $ηη^\prime$ decay mode to be a characteristic signal of the hybrid nature of the $η_1(1855)$.

Substructure of Multiquark Hadrons (Snowmass 2021 White Paper)

In recent years there has been a rapidly growing body of experimental evidence for existence of exotic, multiquark hadrons, i.e. mesons which contain additional quarks, beyond the usual quark-antiquark pair and baryons which consist of more than three quarks. In all cases with robust evidence they contain at least one heavy quark Q=c or b, the majority including two heavy quarks. Two key theoretical questions have been triggered by these discoveries: (a) how are quarks organized inside these multiquark states -- as compact objects with all quarks within one confinement volume, interacting via color forces, perhaps with an important role played by diquarks, or as deuteron-like hadronic molecules, bound by light-meson exchange? (b) what other multiquark states should we expect? The two questions are tightly intertwined. Each of the interpretations provides a natural explanation of parts of the data, but neither explains all of the data. It is quite possible that both kinds of structures appear in Nature. It may also be the case that certain states are superpositions of the compact and molecular configurations. This Whitepaper brings together contributions from many leading practitioners in the field, representing a wide spectrum of theoretical interpretations. We discuss the importance of future experimental and phenomenological work, which will lead to better understandingof multiquark phenomena in QCD.

$P$-wave charmed baryons of the $SU(3)$ flavor $\mathbf{6}_F$

We use QCD sum rules to study mass spectra of $P$-wave charmed baryons of the $SU(3)$ flavor $\mathbf{6}_F$. We also use light-cone sum rules to study their $S$- and $D$-wave decays into ground-state charmed baryons together with light pseudoscalar and vector mesons. We work within the framework of heavy quark effective theory, and we also consider the mixing effect. Our results can explain many excited charmed baryons as a whole, including the $Σ_c(2800)^0$, $Ξ_c(2923)^0$, $Ξ_c(2939)^0$, $Ξ_{c}(2965)^{0}$, $Ω_c(3000)^0$, $Ω_c(3050)^0$, $Ω_c(3066)^0$, $Ω_c(3090)^0$, and $Ω_c(3119)^0$. Their masses, mass splittings within the same multiplets, and decay properties are extracted for future experimental searches.

Establishing the first hidden-charm pentaquark with strangeness

We study the $P_{cs}(4459)^0$ recently observed by LHCb using the method of QCD sum rules. Our results support its interpretation as the $\bar D^* Ξ_c$ hadronic molecular state of either $J^P=1/2^-$ or $3/2^-$. Within the hadronic molecular picture, the three LHCb experiments observing $P_c$ and $P_{cs}$ states \cite{lhcb,Aaij:2015tga,Aaij:2019vzc} can be well understood as a whole. This strongly supports the existence of hadronic molecules, whose studies can significantly improve our understanding on the construction of the subatomic world. To verify this picture, we propose to further investigate the $P_{cs}(4459)^0$ to examine whether it can be separated into two states, and to search for the $\bar D Ξ_c$ molecular state of $J^P=1/2^-$.

Light tetraquark states with the exotic quantum number $J^{PC} = 3^{-+}$

We apply the method of QCD sum rules to study the $s q \bar s \bar q$ tetraquark states with the exotic quantum number $J^{PC} = 3^{-+}$, and extract mass of the lowest-lying state to be $2.33^{+0.19}_{-0.16}$ GeV. To construct the relevant tetraquark currents we need to explicitly add the covariant derivative operator. Our systematical analysis on their relevant interpolating currents indicates that: a) this state well decays into the $P$-wave $ρϕ/ωϕ$ channel but not into the $ρf_2(1525)/ωf_2(1525)/ϕf_2(1270)$ channels, and b) it well decays into the $K^*(892) \bar K_2^*(1430)$ channel but not into the $P$-wave $K^*(892) \bar K^*(892)$ channel.

Toward the existence of odderon as a three-gluon bound state

Inspired by the evidence of the odderon exchange recently observed by the D0 and TOTEM Collaborations, a QCD sum rule investigation is performed to study the odderon as a three-gluon bound state. There may exist six lowest-lying three-gluon odderons with the quantum numbers $J^{PC} = 1/2/3^{\pm-}$. We systematically construct their interpolating currents, and calculate their mass spectra. To verify their existence, we propose to search for the spin-3 odderons in their $VVV$ and $VVP$ decay channels directly at LHC, with $V$ and $P$ light vector and pseudoscalar mesons respectively.

Two- and three-gluon glueballs of $C=+$

We study two- and three-gluon glueballs of $C=+$ using the method of QCD sum rules. We systematically construct their interpolating currents, and find that all the spin-1 currents of $C=+$ vanish. This suggests that the ``ground-state'' spin-1 glueballs of $C=+$ do not exist within the relativistic framework. We calculate masses of the two-gluon glueballs with $J^{PC} = 0^{\pm+}/2^{\pm+}$ and the three-gluon glueballs with $J^{PC} = 0^{\pm+}/2^{\pm+}$. We propose to search for the $J^{PC} = 0^{-+}/2^{-\pm}/3^{\pm-}$ three-gluon glueballs in their three-meson decay channels in future BESIII, GlueX, LHC, and PANDA experiments.

$X_0(2900)$ and $X_1(2900)$: hadronic molecules or compact tetraquarks

Very recently the LHCb Collaboration reported their observation of the first two fully open-flavor tetraquark states, the $X_0(2900)$ of $J^P = 0^+$ and the $X_1(2900)$ of $J^P = 1^-$. We study their possible interpretations using the method of QCD sum rules, paying special attention to an interesting feature of this experiment that the higher resonance $X_1(2900)$ has a width significantly larger than the lower one $X_0(2900)$. Our results suggest that the $X_0(2900)$ can be interpreted as the $S$-wave $D^{*-}K^{*+}$ molecule state of $J^P = 0^+$, and the $X_1(2900)$ can be interpreted as the $P$-wave $\bar c \bar s u d$ compact tetraquark state of $J^P = 1^-$. Mass predictions of their bottom partners are also given.

Decay properties of $P$-wave heavy baryons accompanied by vector mesons within light-cone sum rules

We use the method of light-cone sum rules to study decay properties of $P$-wave bottom baryons belonging to the $SU(3)$ flavor $\mathbf{6}_F$ representation. In Ref.~\cite{Cui:2019dzj} we have studied their mass spectrum and pionic decays, and found that the $Σ_{b}(6097)$ and $Ξ_{b}(6227)$ can be well interpreted as $P$-wave bottom baryons of $J^P = 3/2^-$. In this paper we further study their decays into ground-state bottom baryons and vector mesons. We propose to search for a new state $Ξ_b({5/2}^-)$, that is the $J^P = 5/2^-$ partner state of the $Ξ_{b}(6227)$, in the $Ξ_b({5/2}^-) \to Ξ_b^{*}ρ\to Ξ_b^{*}ππ$ decay process. Its mass is $12 \pm 5$~MeV larger than that of the $Ξ_{b}(6227)$.

Excited $Ω_b$ baryons and fine structure of strong interaction

The heavy baryon system bounded by the strong interaction has a rich internal structure, so its mass spectra can have the fine structure similar to the line spectra of atom bounded by the electromagnetic interaction. We systematically study the internal structure of $P$-wave $Ω_b$ baryons and calculate their $D$-wave decay properties. The present study, together with our previous studies on their mass spectra and $S$-wave decay properties, suggest that all the four excited $Ω_b$ baryons recently discovered by LHCb can be well explained as $P$-wave $Ω_b$ baryons, and their beautiful fine structure is directly related to the rich internal structure of $P$-wave $Ω_b$ baryons.

Identifying the $Λ_b(6146)^0$ and $Λ_b(6152)^0$ as $D$-wave bottom baryons

We study the $Λ_b(6146)^0$ and $Λ_b(6152)^0$ recently observed by LHCb using the method of QCD sum rules within the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Our results suggest that they can be interpreted as $D$-wave bottom baryons of $J^P = 3/2^+$ and $5/2^+$ respectively, both of which contain two $λ$-mode excitations. We also investigate other possible assignments containing $ρ$-mode excitations. We predict masses of their strangeness partners to be $m_{Ξ_b(3/2^+)} = 6.26^{+0.11}_{-0.14}$ GeV and $m_{Ξ_b(5/2^+)} = 6.26^{+0.11}_{-0.14}$ GeV with the mass splitting $ΔM = 4.5^{+1.9}_{-1.5}$ MeV, and propose to search for them in future LHCb and CMS experiments.

Identifying the $Ξ_c^0$ baryons observed by LHCb as $P$-wave $Ξ_c^\prime$ baryons

We systematically study mass spectra and decay properties of $P$-wave $Ξ_c^\prime$ baryons of the $SU(3)$ flavor $\mathbf{6}_F$, using the methods of QCD sum rules and light-cone sum rules within the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Our results suggest that the three excited $Ξ_c^0$ baryons recently observed by LHCb can be well explained as $P$-wave $Ξ_c^\prime$ baryons: the $Ξ_c(2923)^0$ and $Ξ_c(2939)^0$ are partner states of $J^P = 1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$ respectively, both of which contain one $λ$-mode orbital excitation; the $Ξ_c(2965)^0$ has $J^P = 3/2^-$, and also contains one $λ$-mode orbital excitation. We propose to search for another $P$-wave $Ξ_c^\prime$ state of $J^P = 5/2^-$ in the $Λ_c K/Ξ_c π$ mass spectral in future experiments. Its mass is about $56^{+30}_{-35}$ MeV larger than the $Ξ_c(2965)^0$, and its width is about $18.1^{+19.7}_{-~8.3}$ MeV.

Is the $X17$ composed of four bare quarks?

When studying tetraquark states using the method of QCD sum rules, we find some tetraquark currents, such as $\bar u_L γ_μd_L~\bar d_L γ^μu_L$ and $\bar u_L γ_μd_L~\bar d_R γ^μu_R$, etc. We calculate their correlation functions using the method of operator product expansion, and find that non-perturbative QCD effects do not contribute much to them. This indicates the possible existence of tetraquark states composed of bare quarks with abnormally small masses. We study the possible assignment of the $X17$ as such a state. We argue that the Atomki experiments might observe a new type of nuclear decay process, where sea quarks take away the extra energy of the nucleus. A unique feature of this tetraquark assignment is that we predict two almost degenerate states with significantly different widths.

QCD sum rule studies on the $s s \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark states of $J^{PC} = 0^{-+}$

We apply the method of QCD sum rules to study the $s s \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark states of $J^{PC} = 0^{-+}$. We construct all the relevant $s s \bar s \bar s$ tetraquark currents, and find that there are only two independent ones. We use them to further construct two weakly-correlated mixed currents. One of them leads to reliable QCD sum rule results and the mass is extracted to be $2.51^{+0.15}_{-0.12}$ GeV, suggesting that the $X(2370)$ or the $X(2500)$ can be explained as the $ss\bar s\bar s$ tetraquark state of $J^{PC} = 0^{-+}$. To verify this interpretation, we propose to further study the $ππ/K \bar K$ invariant mass spectra of the $J/ψ\to γππη^\prime/γK \bar K η^\prime$ decays in BESIII to examine whether there exists the $f_0(980)$ resonance.

A hidden-charm pentaquark state in $Λ^0_b \to J/ψp π^-$ decay

We study here the $Λ_b^0 \to J/ψp π^-$ reaction in analogy to the $Λ^0_b \to J/ψp K^-$ one, and we note that in both decays there is a sharp structure (dip or peak) in the $J/ψp$ mass distribution around $4450$ MeV, which is associated in the $Λ^0_b \to J/ψp K^-$ experiment to an exotic pentaquark baryonic state, although in $Λ_b^0 \to J/ψp π^-$ it shows up with relatively low statistics. We analyze the $Λ^0_b \to J/ψp π^-$ interaction along the same lines as the $Λ^0_b \to J/ψp K^-$ one, with the main difference stemming from the reduced Cabibbo strength in the former and the consideration of the $π^-p$ final state interaction instead of the $K^-p$ one. We find that with a minimal input, introducing the $π^-p$ and $J/ψp$ interaction in $S$-wave with realistic interactions, and the empirical $P$-wave and $D$-wave contributions, one can accomplish a qualitative description of the $π^-p$ and $J/ψp$ mass distributions. More importantly, the peak structure followed by a dip of the experimental $J/ψp$ mass distribution is reproduced with the same input as used to describe the data of $Λ^0_b\rightarrow J/ψp K^-$ reaction. The repercussion for the triangular singularity mechanism, invoked in some works to explain the pentaquark peak, is discussed.

D-wave charmed and bottomed baryons from QCD sum rules

We study the $D$-wave charmed baryons of $SU(3)$ flavor $\mathbf{\bar3}_F$ using the method of QCD sum rule in the framework of heavy quark effective theory (HQET). We find that the $Λ_c(2880)$, $Ξ_c(3055)$ and $Ξ_c(3080)$ can be well described by the $D$-wave $SU(3)$ $\mathbf{\bar 3}_F$ charmed baryon multiplets of $J^P=3/2^+$ and $5/2^+$, which contain two $λ$-mode orbital excitations, i.e., the $Λ_c(2880)$ has $J^P=5/2^+$, and the $Ξ_c(3055)$ and $Ξ_c(3080)$ have $J^P = 3/2^+$ and $5/2^+$, respectively. Our results also suggest that the $Λ_c(2880)$ has a partner state, the $Λ_c(3/2^+)$ of $J^P=3/2^+$. Its mass is around $2.81 ^{+0.33}_{-0.18}$ GeV, and the mass difference between it and the $Λ_c(2880)$ is $28^{+45}_{-24}$ MeV. We also evaluate the masses of their bottom partners.

Decoding the $X(5568)$ as a fully open-flavor $su\bar b\bar d$ tetraquark state

We investigate the recent evidence for a charged $X(5568)$ meson as an exotic open-flavor tetraquark state $su\bar b\bar d$ with $J^P=0^+/1^+$ in the framework of QCD sum rules. We use the color antisymmetric $[\mathbf{\bar 3_c}]_{su} \otimes [\mathbf{3_c}]_{\bar{b}\bar d}$ tetraquark currents in both scalar and axial-vector channels to perform evaluations and numerical analyses. Our results imply that the $X(5568)$ can be interpreted as both the scalar $su\bar b\bar d$ tetraquark state and the axial-vector one, which are in good agreement with the experimental measurement. We also discuss the possible decay patterns of the $X(5568)$ and suggest to search for its neutral partner in the radiative decay into $B_s^0 γ$ and $B_s^* γ$, which can be used to determine its spin-parity quantum numbers. Moreover, we predict its charmed partner state around $2.55$ GeV with the quark content $su\bar c\bar d$ and $J^P=0^+/1^+$.

QCD sum rule study of hidden-charm pentaquarks

We study the mass spectra of hidden-charm pentaquarks having spin $J = {1\over2}/{3\over2}/{5\over2}$ and quark contents $uud c \bar c$. We systematically construct all the relevant local hidden-charm pentaquark currents, and select some of them to perform QCD sum rule analyses. We find that the $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4450)$ can be identified as hidden-charm pentaquark states composed of an anti-charmed meson and a charmed baryon. Besides them, we also find a) the lowest-lying hidden-charm pentaquark state of $J^P = 1/2^-$ has the mass $4.33^{+0.17}_{-0.13}$ GeV, while the one of $J^P = 1/2^+$ is significantly higher, that is around $4.7-4.9$ GeV; b) the lowest-lying hidden-charm pentaquark state of $J^P = 3/2^-$ has the mass $4.37^{+0.18}_{-0.13}$ GeV, consistent with the $P_c(4380)$ of $J^P = 3/2^-$, while the one of $J^P = 3/2^+$ is also significantly higher, that is above $4.6$ GeV; c) the hidden-charm pentaquark state of $J^P = 5/2^-$ has a mass around $4.5-4.6$ GeV, slightly larger than the $P_c(4450)$ of $J^P = 5/2^+$.

Searching for hidden-charm baryonium signals in QCD sum rules

We give an explicit QCD sum rule investigation to hidden-charm baryonium states with the quark content $u\bar u d\bar d c\bar c$, spin $J=0/1/2/3$, and of both positive and negative parities. We systematically construct the relevant local hidden-charm baryonium interpolating currents, which can actually couple to various structures, including hidden-charm baryonium states, charmonium states plus two pions, and hidden-charm tetraquark states plus one pion, etc. We do not know which structure these currents couple to at the beginning, but after sum rule analyses we can obtain some information. We find some of them can couple to hidden-charm baryonium states, using which we evaluate the masses of the lowest-lying hidden-charm baryonium states with quantum numbers $J^P=2^-/3^-/0^+/1^+/2^+$ to be around 5.0 GeV. We suggest to search for hidden-charm baryonium states, especially the one of $J=3^-$, in the $D$-wave $J/ψππ$ and $P$-wave $J/ψρ$ and $J/ψω$ channels in this energy region.

The $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance as a dynamically generated state: the compositeness condition and the large $N_c$ evolution

Recent studies have shown that the well established $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance contains a large meson-baryon component, which can vary depending on the specific formalism. In this work, we examine such a picture by utilizing the compositeness condition and the large number of colors ($N_c$) expansion. We examine three different models fulfilling two body unitarity in coupled-channels, and adopting renormalization schemes where the mass of the $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance is well described, but not necessarily its width, since we do not consider three body channels and work at the isospin symmetric limit. Both approximations might have an effect larger on the width than on the mass. In this context, our studies show that the compositeness of the $Λ_c(2595)$ depends on the number of considered coupled channels, and on the particular regularization scheme adopted in the unitary approaches and, therefore, is model dependent. In addition, we perform an exploratory study of the $Λ_c(2595)$ in the large $N_c$ expansion, within a scheme involving only the $πΣ_c$ and $KΞ'_c$ channels, whose dynamics is mostly fixed by chiral symmetry. In this context and formulating the leading-order interaction as a function of $N_c$, we show that for moderate $N_c> 3$ values, the mass and width of the $Λ_c(2595)$ deviate from those of a genuine $qqq$ baryon, implying the relevance of meson-baryon components in its wave function. Furthermore, we study the properties of the $Λ_c(2595)$, in the strict $N_c \to \infty $ limit, using an extension of the chiral Weinberg-Tomozawa interaction to an arbitrary number of flavors and colors. This latter study hints at the possible existence of a (perhaps) sub-dominant $qqq$ component in the $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance wave function, which would become dominant when the number of colors gets sufficiently large.

The hidden-charm pentaquark and tetraquark states

In the past decade many charmonium-like states were observed experimentally. Especially those charged charmonium-like $Z_c$ states and bottomonium-like $Z_b$ states can not be accommodated within the naive quark model. These charged $Z_c$ states are good candidates of either the hidden-charm tetraquark states or molecules composed of a pair of charmed mesons. Recently, the LHCb Collaboration discovered two hidden-charm pentaquark states, which are also beyond the quark model. In this work, we review the current experimental progress and investigate various theoretical interpretations of these candidates of the multiquark states. We list the puzzles and theoretical challenges of these models when confronted with the experimental data. We also discuss possible future measurements which may distinguish the theoretical schemes on the underlying structures of the hidden-charm multiquark states.

Weak decays of heavy hadrons into dynamically generated resonances

In this review we give a perspective of the theoretical work done recently on the interpretation of results from $B$, $D$, $Λ_b$, $Λ_c$ weak decays into final states that contain interacting hadrons, and how it is possible to obtain additional valuable information that is increasing our understanding of hadron interactions and the nature of many hadronic resonances. The novelty of these processes is that one begins with a clean picture at the quark level which allows one to select the basic mechanisms by means of which the process proceeds. Finally, one has a final state described in terms of quarks. To make contact with the experiments, where mesons and baryons are observed, one must hadronize, creating pairs of $q \bar q$ and writing the new states in terms of mesons and baryons. This concludes the primary hadron production in these processes. After that, the interaction of these hadrons takes place, offering a rich spectrum of resonances and special features from where it is possible to learn much about the interaction of these hadrons and the nature of many resonances in terms of the components of their wave functions.

$a_1(1420)$ resonance as a tetraquark state and its isospin partner

We systematically construct tetraquark currents of $I^GJ^{PC}=1^-1^{++}$ and classify them into types $\mathbf{A}$ (antisymmetric), $\mathbf{S}$ (symmetric) and $\mathbf{M}$ (mixed), based on flavor symmetries of diquarks and antidiquarks composing the tetra quark currents. We use tetraquark currents of type $\mathbf{M}$ to perform QCD sum rule analyses, and find a tetraquark current $η^M_{5μ}$ with quark contents $q s\bar q \bar s$($q=u$ or $d$) leading to a mass of $1.44 \pm 0.08$ GeV consistent with the $a_1(1420)$ state recently observed by the COMPASS collaboration. Our results support tetraquark explanations for both $a_1(1420)$ and $f_1(1420)$, assuming that they are isospin partners. We also study their possible decay patterns. As tetraquark candidates, the possible decay modes of $a_1(1420)$ are $S$-wave $a_1(1420) \rightarrow K^*(892)K$ and $P$-wave $a_1(1420)\rightarrow f_0(980) π$ while the possible decay patterns of $f_1(1420)$ are $S$-wave $f_1(1420) \rightarrow K^*(892)K$ and $P$-wave $f_1(1420) \rightarrow a_0(980) π$. We speculate that $a_1(1420)$ is partly responsible for the large isospin violation in the $η(1405)\to f_0(980)π_0$ decay mode which is reported by BESIII collaboration in the $J/ψ\toγ3π$ process.

$S$-wave $KK^*$ interaction in a finite volume and the $f_1(1285)$

Lattice QCD simulations provide a promising way to disentangle different interpretations of hadronic resonances, which might be of particular relevance to understand the nature of the so-called $XYZ$ particles. Recent studies have shown that in addition to the well-established naive quark model picture, the axial-vector meson $f_1(1285)$ can also be understood as a dynamically generated state built upon the $KK^*$ interaction. In this work, we calculate the energy levels of the $KK^*$ system in the $f_1(1285)$ channel in finite volume using the chiral unitary approach. We propose to calculate the loop function in the dimensional regularization scheme, which is equivalent to the hybrid approach adopted in previous studies. We also study the inverse problem of extracting the bound state information from synthetic lattice QCD data and comment on the difference between our approach and the L{\" u}scher method.

Dynamically generated $J^P=1/2^-(3/2^-)$ singly charmed and bottom heavy baryons

Approximate heavy-quark spin and flavor symmetry and chiral symmetry play an important role in our understanding of the nonperturbative regime of strong interactions. In this work, utilizing the unitarized chiral perturbation theory, we explore the consequences of these symmetries in the description of the interactions between the ground-state singly charmed (bottom) baryons and the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons. In particular, at leading order in the chiral expansion, by fixing the only parameter in the theory to reproduce the $Λ_b(5912)$ [$Λ_b^*(5920)$] or the $Λ_c(2595)$ [$Λ_c^*(2625)$], we predict a number of dynamically generated states, which are contrasted with those of other approaches and available experimental data. In anticipation of future lattice QCD simulations, we calculate the corresponding scattering lengths and compare them to the existing predictions from a $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$ chiral perturbation theory study. In addition, we estimate the effects of the next-to-leading-order potentials by adopting heavy-meson Lagrangians and fixing the relevant low-energy constants using either symmetry or naturalness arguments. It is shown that higher-order potentials play a relatively important role in many channels, indicating that further studies are needed once more experimental or lattice QCD data become available.

F-wave heavy-light meson spectroscopy in QCD sum rules and heavy quark effective theory

We study the F-wave c_bar s heavy meson doublets (2+,3+) and (3+,4+). They have large orbital excitations L=3, and may be good challenges (tests) for theoretical studies. To study them we use the method of QCD sum rule in the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Their masses are predicted to be m_{(2+,3+)} = (3.45 \pm 0.25, 3.50 \pm 0.26) GeV and m_{(3+,4+)} = (3.20 \pm 0.22, 3.26 \pm 0.23) GeV, with mass splittings Delta m_{(2+,3+)} = m_{3+} - m_{2+} = 0.046 \pm 0.030 GeV and Delta m_{(3+,4+)} = 0.053 \pm 0.044 GeV, respectively. We note that this is a pioneering work and these results are provisional.

We evaluate energy levels of the K-pi system in the K* channel in finite volume using chiral unitary theory. We use these energy levels to obtain K-pi phase shifts, and then obtain the K* mass and its decay width. We investigate their dependence on the pion mass and compare this with Lattice QCD calculations. We also compare our method with the standard Luscher approach, and solve the inverse problem to obtain the K-pi phase shifts from these "synthetic" lattice data.

Looking for a hidden-charm pentaquark state with strangeness $S=-1$ from $Ξ^-_b$ decay into $J/ψK^- Λ$

Assuming that the recently observed hidden-charm pentaquark state, $P_c(4450)$, is of molecular nature as predicted in the unitary approach, we propose to study the decay of $Ξ^-_b\rightarrow J/ψK^- Λ$ to search for the strangeness counterpart of the $P_c(4450)$. There are three ingredients in the decay mechanism: the weak decay mechanism, the hadronization mechanism, and the finite state interactions in the meson-baryon system of strangeness $S=-2$ and isospin $I=1/2$ and of the $J/ψΛ$. All these have been tested extensively. As a result, we provide a genuine prediction of the differential cross section where a strangeness hidden-charm pentaquark state, the counterpart of the $P_c(4450)$, can be clearly seen. The decay rate is estimated to be of similar magnitude as the $Λ_b^0\rightarrow J/ψK^- p$ observed by the LHCb collaboration.

Mass spectra of Zc and Zb exotic states as hadron molecules

We construct charmonium-like and bottomonium-like molecular interpolating currents with quantum numbers J(PC)=1(+-) in a systematic way, including both color singlet-singlet and color octet-octet structures. Using these interpolating currents, we calculate two-point correlation functions and perform QCD sum rule analyses to obtain mass spectra of the charmonium-like and bottomonium-like molecular states. Masses of the charmonium-like q_bar c c_bar q molecular states for these various currents are extracted in the range 3.85-4.22 GeV, which are in good agreement with observed masses of the Zc resonances. Our numerical results suggest a possible landscape of hadronic molecule interpretations of the newly-observed Zc states. Mass spectra of the bottomonium-like q_bar b b_bar q molecular states are similarly obtained in the range 9.92-10.48 GeV, which support the interpretation of the Zb(10610) meson as a molecular state within theoretical uncertainties. Possible decay channels of these molecular states are also discussed.

P-wave charmed baryons from QCD sum rules

We study the P-wave charmed baryons using the method of QCD sum rule in the framework of heavy quark effective theory (HQET). We consider systematically all possible baryon currents with a derivative for internal rho- and lambda-mode excitations. We have found a good working window for the currents corresponding to the rho-mode excitations for Lambda_c(2595), Lambda_c(2625), Xi_c(2790) and Xi_c(2815) which complete two SU(3) 3F_bar multiplets of J(P)=1/2(-) and 3/2(-), while the currents corresponding to the lambda-mode excitations seem also consistent with the data. Our results also suggest that there are two Sigma_c(2800) states of J(P)=1/2(-) and 3/2(-) whose mass splitting is 14 \pm 7 MeV, and two Xi_c(2980) states whose mass splitting is 12 \pm 7 MeV. They have two Omega_c partners of J(P) = 1/2(-) and 3/2(-), whose masses are around 3.25 \pm 0.20 GeV with mass splitting 10 \pm 6 MeV. All of them together complete two SU(3) 6F multiplets of J(P)=1/2(-) and 3/2(-). They may also have J(P)=5/2(-) partners. Xi_c(3080) may be one of them, and the other two are Sigma_c(5/2(-)) and Omega_c(5/2(-)), whose masses are 85 \pm 23 and 50 \pm 27 MeV larger.

QCD sum rule calculation for P-wave bottom baryons

We study the P-wave bottom baryons using the method of QCD sum rule and heavy quark effective theory. Our results suggest that Lambda_b(5912) and Lambda_b(5920) can be well described by the baryon doublet [3F_bar, 1, 1, rho], and they belong to the SU(3) 3F_bar multiplets of J(P)=1/2(-) and 3/2(-). Their SU(3) flavor partners, Xi_b(1/2-) and Xi_b(3/2-), have masses 6.06 \pm 0.13 GeV and 6.07 \pm 0.13 GeV, respectively, with mass splitting 9 \pm 4 MeV. The results obtained using baryon doublet [3F_bar, 1, 0, lambda] are similar and also consistent with the experimental data. We also study the SU(3) 6F multiplets by using the baryon multiplets [6F, 0, 1, lambda], [6_F, 1, 0, rho] and [6F, 2, 1, lambda], and our results suggest that the P-wave bottom baryons Sigma_b, Xi'_b and Omega_b have (averaged) masses about 6.0 GeV, 6.2 GeV and 6.4 GeV, respectively.

QCD sum rule Study of the $d^*(2380)$

We systematically construct $I(J^P)=0(3^+)$ six-quark local interpolating currents without derivative operators. We discuss the best choice of operator, and select three $Δ$-$Δ$ like operators to perform QCD sum rule analyses to calculate the mass of the $d^*(2380)$. The mass extracted from this analysis is $M_{d^*} = 2.4\pm0.2$ GeV, consistent with the $d^*(2380)$ mass observed by the WASA detector at COSY. We also obtain a sum-rule lower mass bound $M_{d^*} > 2.25$ GeV. We also consider the effect of mixing of singlet dibaryon fields with the same quantum numbers, and perform the QCD sum rule analysis of the mixed interpolating current and extract the mass of the $d^*(2380)$ and its lower mass bound. With optimized mixing parameters, we find that the mixed current does not change the numerical result significantly.

Towards exotic hidden-charm pentaquarks in QCD

Inspired by $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4450)$ recently observed by LHCb, a QCD sum rule investigation is performed, by which they can be identified as exotic hidden-charm pentaquarks composed of an anti-charmed meson and a charmed baryon. Our results suggest that $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4450)$ have quantum numbers $J^P=3/2^-$ and $5/2^+$, respectively. Furthermore, two extra hidden-charm pentaqurks with configurations $\bar{D}Σ_c^*$ and $\bar{D}^*Σ_c^*$ are predicted, which have spin-parity quantum numbers $J^P=3/2^-$ and $J^P=5/2^+$, respectively. As an important extension, the mass predictions of hidden-bottom pentaquarks are also given. Searches for these partners of $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4450)$ are especially accessible at future experiments like LHCb and BelleII.

Isospin Symmetry Breaking and Octet Baryon Masses due to Their Mixing with Decuplet Baryons

We consider three kinds of baryon mass terms, including the bare mass term, the electromagnetic terms and the spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking terms. We include the mixing term between flavor-octet and flavor-decuplet baryons. This assumes that the lowest-lying Sigma and Xi baryons contain a few decuplet components and so are not purely flavor-octet. We achieve a good fitting that the difference between every fitted mass and its experimental value is less than 0.2 MeV.

Study of Hadrons Using the Gaussian Functional Method in the O(4) Linear $σ$ Model

We study properties of hadrons in the O(4) linear $σ$ model, where we take into account fluctuations of mesons around their mean field values using the Gaussian functional (GF) method. In the GF method we calculate dressed $σ$ and $π$ masses, where we include the effect of fluctuations of mesons to find a better ground state wave function than the mean field approximation. Then we solve the Bethe-Salpeter equations and calculate physical $σ$ and $π$ masses. We recover the Nambu-Goldstone theorem for the physical pion mass to be zero in the chiral limit. The $σ$ meson is a strongly correlated meson-meson state, and has a 4 quark structure. We calculate $σ$ and $π$ masses as functions of temperature for the two cases of chiral limit and explicit chiral symmetry breaking. We get similar behaviors for the $σ$ and $π$ masses as the case of the mean field approximation, but the coupling constants are much larger than the values of the case of the mean field approximation.

The masses of their 2^- partners are calculated to be 2.82 \pm 0.10 and 2.81 \pm 0.08 GeV. The mass splittings within the same doublet are calculated to be m_{D_{s2}} - m_{D*_{s1}} = 0.016 \pm 0.007 GeV and m_{D*_{s3}} - m_{D'_{s2}} = 0.039 \pm 0.014 GeV.

Bi-Local Baryon Interpolating Fields with Three Flavours

Fierz identities follow from permutations of quark indices and thus determine which chiral multiplets of baryon fields are Pauli-allowed, and which are not. In a previous paper we have investigated the Fierz identities of baryon fields with two light flavours and found that all bilocal fields that can be constructed from three quarks are Pauli-allowed. That does not mean that all possible chiral multiplets exist, however: some chiral multiplets do not appear among structures with a given spin in the local limit, say J = 1/2. One such chiral multiplet is the [(6,3)+(3,6)], which is necessary for a successful chiral mixing phenomenology. In the present paper we extend those methods to three light flavors, i.e. to SU_F(3) symmetry and explicitly construct all three necessary chiral SU_L(3)*SU_R(3) multiplets, viz. [(6,3)+(3,6)], [(3,3_bar)+(3_bar,3)] and [(3_bar,3)+(3,3_bar)] that are necessary for a phenomenologically successful chiral mixing. We complete this analysis by considering some bi-local baryon fields that are sufficient for the construction of the "missing" spin 1/2 baryon interpolating fields. Bi-local baryon fields have definite total angular momentum only in the local limit. The physical significance of these results lies in the fact that they show that there is no need for higher Fock space components, such as the (q^4 q_bar), in the baryon chiral mixing framework, for the purpose of fitting the observed axial couplings and magnetic moments: all of the sufficient "mirror components" exist as bi-local fields.

Particularly, we use the tetraquark currents belonging to the "non-exotic" [(3_bar,3)+(3,3_bar)] chiral multiplets to calculate the masses of light scalar mesons through QCD sum rule. How fast can an unstable particle decay into two final states and be observed

We investigate unstable hadrons (resonances) which mainly decay into two final states in a very short time. We estimate how far at most these two final states can travel away from each other in the half-life of the initial unstable hadron. As examples, this distance is about 2.5 fm for rho -> pi pi, 1.8 fm for Delta -> N pi, and 0.6 fm for f_0(500) -> pi pi. We calculate this distance for altogether 181 hadrons, among all the 324 ones listed in PDG2012 together with Zc(3900) and Zc(4025). We find it is around one femtometer for many hadrons, which is of the same order of magnitude as the hadronic radii. We also estimate this distance for altogether 15 unstable nuclei. We find it is about several femtometers for some of them, which is of the same order of magnitude as the nuclear radii. For example, it is about six femtometers for O12 -> N11 p.

The pion-pion Interaction in the rho Channel in Finite Volume

The aim of this paper is to investigate an efficient strategy that allows to obtain pi-pi phase shifts and rho meson properties from QCD lattice data with high precision. For this purpose we evaluate the levels of the pi-pi system in the rho channel in finite volume using chiral unitary theory. We investigate the dependence on the pi mass and compare with other approaches which use QCD lattice calculations and effective theories. We also illustrate the errors induced by using the conventional Luscher approach instead of a more accurate one recently developed that takes into account exactly the relativistic two meson propagators. Finally we make use of this latter approach to solve the inverse problem, getting pi-pi phase shifts from "synthetic" lattice data, providing an optimal strategy and showing which accuracy is needed in these data to obtain the $ρ$ properties with a desired accuracy.

Baryon Tri-local Interpolating Fields

We systematically investigate tri-local (non-local) three-quark baryon fields with U_L(2)*U_R(2) chiral symmetry, according to their Lorentz and isospin (flavor) group representations. We note that they can also be called as "nucleon wave functions" due to this full non-locality. We study their chiral transformation properties and find all the possible chiral multiplets consisting J=1/2 and J=3/2 baryon fields. We find that the axial coupling constant |g_A| = 5/3 is only for nucleon fields belonging to the chiral representation (1/2,1)+(1,1/2) which contains both nucleon fields and Delta fields. Moreover, all the nucleon fields belonging to this representation have |g_A| = 5/3.

Baryons with U_L(3)*U_R(3) Chiral Symmetry IV: Interactions with Chiral (8,1)+(1,8) Vector and Axial-vector Mesons and Anomalous Magnetic Moments

We construct all SU_L(3)*SU_R(3) chirally invariant anomalous magnetic, i.e. involving a Pauli tensor and one-derivative, interactions of one chiral-[(8,1)+(1,8)] meson field with chiral-[(6,3)+(3,6)], [(3,\bar3)+(\bar3,3)], and [(8,1)+(1,8)] baryon fields and their "mirror" images. We find strong chiral selection rules: e.g. there is only one off-diagonal chirally symmetric anomalous magnetic interaction between J=1/2 fields belonging to the [(6,3)+(3,6)] and the [(3,\bar3)+(\bar3,3)] chiral multiplets. We also study the chiral selection rules for the anomalous magnetic interactions of the [(3,\bar3)+(\bar3,3)] and the [(8,1)+(1,8)] baryon fields. Again, no diagonal and only one off-diagonal chiral SU_L(3)*SU_R(3) interaction of this type is allowed, that turns out also to conserve the U_A(1) symmetry. We calculate the F/D ratios for the baryons' anomalous magnetic moments predicted by these interactions in the SU(3) symmetry limit and find that only the [(6,3)+(3,6)]-[(3,\bar3)+(\bar3,3)] one, reproduces F/D=1/3, in close proximity to the value extracted from experiment.

The "Closed" Chiral Symmetry and Its Application to Tetraquark

We investigate the chiral (flavor) structure of tetraquarks, and study chiral transformation properties of the "non-exotic" [(3_bar,3)+(3,3_bar)] and [(8,1)+(1,8)] tetraquark chiral multiplets. We find that as long as this kind of tetraquark states contains one quark and one antiquark having the same chirality, such as (q_L q_L \bar q_L \bar q_R + q_R q_R \bar q_R \bar q_L), they transform in the same way as the lowest level (\bar q q) chiral multiplets under chiral transformations. There is only one [(3_bar,3)+(3,3_bar)] chiral multiplet whose quark-antiquark pairs all have the opposite chirality (q_L q_L \bar q_R \bar q_R + q_R q_R \bar q_L \bar q_L), and it transforms differently from others. Based on these studies, we construct local tetraquark currents belonging to the "non-exotic" chiral multiplet [(3_bar,3)+(3,3_bar)] and having quantum numbers J^{PC}=1^{-+}.

Bi-local baryon interpolating fields with two flavours

We construct bi-local interpolating field operators for baryons consisting of three quarks with two flavors, assuming good isospin symmetry. We use the restrictions following from the Pauli principle to derive relations/identities among the baryon operators with identical quantum numbers. Such relations that follow from the combined spatial, Dirac, color, and isospin Fierz transformations may be called the (total/complete) Fierz identities. These relations reduce the number of independent baryon operators with any given spin and isospin. We also study the Abelian and non-Abelian chiral transformation properties of these fields and place them into baryon chiral multiplets. Thus we derive the independent baryon interpolating fields with given values of spin (Lorentz group representation), chiral symmetry ($U_L(2) \times U_R(2)$ group representation) and isospin appropriate for the first angular excited states of the nucleon.

rho-rho-N and rho-rho-Delta molecules with $J^P=5/2^{+}$ and $J^P=7/2^{+}$

The rho-rho-N and rho-rho-Delta three-body systems have been studied within the framework of the fixed center approximation of Faddeev equation. The rho-rho interaction in isospin I=0, spin S=2 is strongly attractive, and so are the N-rho, Delta-rho interactions. This leads to bound states of both rho-rho-N and rho-rho-Delta. We find peaks of the modulus squared of the scattering matrix around 2227 MeV for rho-rho-N, and 2372 MeV for rho-rho-Delta. Yet, the strength of the peak for the rho-rho-N amplitude is much smaller than for rho-rho-Delta, weakening the case for a rho-rho-N bound state, or a dominant rho-rho-N component. A discussion is made on how these states can be searched for in present programs looking for multimeson final states in different reactions.

The Decay Properties of the 1^{-+} Hybrid State

Within the framework of the QCD sum rules, we consider the three-point correlation function, work at the limit q^2 -> 0 and m_π-> 0, and pick out the singular term ~ {1\over q^2} to extract the pionic coupling constants of the 1^{-+} hybrid meson. Then we calculate the decay widths of different modes. The decay width of the S-wave modes b_1 π, f_1πincreases quickly as the hybrid meson mass and decay momentum increase. But for the low mass hybrid meson around 1.6 GeV, the P-wave decay mode ρπis very important and its width is around 180 MeV, while the widths of ηπand η^\prime πare strongly suppressed. We suggest the experimental search of π_1(1600) through the decay chains at BESIII: e^+e^- -> J/ψ(ψ') -> π_1 +γor e^+e^- -> J/ψ(ψ') -> π_1 +ρwhere the π_1 state can be reconstructed through the decay modes π_1 -> ρπ-> π^+π^-π^0 or π_1 -> f_1(1285)π^0. It is also interesting to look for π_1 using the available BELLE/BABAR data through the process e^+e^- -> γ^\ast -> ρπ_1, b_1π_1, γπ_1 etc.

The pp -> p Lambda K+ and pp -> p Sigma0 K+ Reactions in the Chiral Unitary Approach

We study the pp -> p Lambda K+ and pp -> p Sigma0 K+ reactions near threshold by using a chiral unitary approach. We consider the single-pion and single-kaon exchange as well as the final state interactions of nucleon-hyperon, K-hyperon and K-nucleon systems. Our results on the total cross section of the pp -> p Lambda K+ reaction is consistent with the experimental data, and the experimental observed strong suppression of Sigma0 production compared to Lambda production at the same excess energy can also be explained in our model.

The pp->p Lambda K+ and pp->p Sigma0 K+ reactions with chiral dynamics

We report on a theoretical study of the pp->p Lambda K+ and pp->p Sigma0 K+ reactions near threshold using a chiral dynamical approach. The production process is described by single-pion and single-kaon exchange. The final state interactions of nucleon-hyperon, K-hyperon and K-nucleon systems are also taken into account. We show that our model leads to a fair description of the experimental data on the total cross section of the pp->p Lambda K+ and pp->p Sigma0 K+ reactions. We find that the experimental observed strong suppression of Sigma0 production compared to Lambda production at the same excess energy can be explained. However, ignorance of phases between some amplitudes does not allow to properly account for the nucleon-hyperon final state interaction for the pp->p Sigma0 K+ reaction. We also demonstrate that the invariant mass distribution and the Dalitz plot provide direct information about the Lambda and Sigma0 production mechanism, and can be tested by experiments at COSY or HIRFL-CSR.

Baryon Fields with U_L(3) \times U_R(3) Chiral Symmetry: Axial Currents of Nucleons and Hyperons

We use the conventional F and D octet and decimet generator matrices to reformulate chiral properties of local (non-derivative) and one-derivative non-local fields of baryons consisting of three quarks with flavor SU(3) symmetry that were expressed in SU(3) tensor form in Ref. [12]. We show explicitly the chiral transformations of the [(6,3)\oplus(3,6)] chiral multiplet in the "SU(3) particle basis", for the first time to our knowledge, as well as those of the (3,\bar{3}) \oplus (\bar{3}, 3), (8,1) \oplus (1,8) multiplets, which have been recorded before in Refs. [4,5]. We derive the vector and axial-vector Noether currents, and show explicitly that their zeroth (charge-like) components close the SU_L(3) \times SU_R(3) chiral algebra. We use these results to study the effects of mixing of (three-quark) chiral multiplets on the axial current matrix elements of hyperons and nucleons. We show, in particular, that there is a strong correlation, indeed a definite relation between the flavor-singlet (i.e. the zeroth), the isovector (the third) and the eighth flavor component of the axial current, which is in decent agreement with the measured ones.

Baryon Fields with U_L(3) times U_R(3) Chiral Symmetry III: Interactions with Chiral (3,3_bar)+(3_bar,3) Spinless Mesons

Three-quark nucleon interpolating fields in QCD have well-defined SU_L(3)*SU_R(3) and U_A(1) chiral transformation properties, viz. [(6,3)+(3,6)], [(3,3_bar)+(3_bar,3)], [(8,1)+(1,8)] and their "mirror" images, Ref.[9]. It has been shown (phenomenologically) in Ref.[3] that mixing of the [(6,3)+(3,6)] chiral multiplet with one ordinary ("naive") and one "mirror" field belonging to the [(3,3_bar)+(3_bar,3)], [(8,1)+(1,8)] multiplets can be used to fit the values of the isovector (g_A^3) and the flavor-singlet (isoscalar) axial coupling (g_A^0) of the nucleon and then predict the axial F and D coefficients, or vice versa, in reasonable agreement with experiment. In an attempt to derive such mixing from an effective Lagrangian, we construct all SU_L(3)*SU_R(3) chirally invariant non-derivative one-meson-baryon interactions and then calculate the mixing angles in terms of baryons' masses. It turns out that there are (strong) selection rules: for example, there is only one non-derivative chirally symmetric interaction between J=1/2 fields belonging to the [(6,3)+(3,6)] and the [(3,3_bar)+(3_bar,3)] chiral multiplets, that is also U_A(1) symmetric. We also study the chiral interactions of the [(3,3_bar)+(3_bar,3)] and [(8,1)+(1,8)] nucleon fields. Again, there are selection rules that allow only one off-diagonal non-derivative chiral SU_L(3)*SU_R(3) interaction of this type, that also explicitly breaks the U_A(1) symmetry. We use this interaction to calculate the corresponding mixing angles in terms of baryon masses and fit two lowest lying observed nucleon (resonance) masses, thus predicting the third (J=1/2, I=3/2) Delta resonance, as well as one or two flavor-singlet Lambda hyperon(s), depending on the type of mixing. The effective chiral Lagrangians derived here may be applied to high density matter calculations.

Light Scalar Meson sigma(600) in QCD Sum Rule with Continuum

The light scalar meson sigma(600) is known to appear at low excitation energy with very large width on top of continuum states. We investigate it in the QCD sum rule as an example of resonance structures appearing above the corresponding thresholds. We use all the possible local tetraquark currents by taking linear combinations of five independent local ones. We ought to consider the pi-pi continuum contribution in the phenomenological side of the QCD sum rule in order to obtain a good sum rule signal. We study the stability of the extracted mass against the Borel mass and the threshold value and find the sigma(600) mass at 530 MeV +- 40 MeV. In addition we find the extracted mass has an increasing tendency with the Borel mass, which is interpreted as caused by the width of the resonance.

Pseudoscalar Mesons in the SU(3) Linear Sigma Model with Gaussian Functional Approximation

We study the SU(3) linear sigma model for the pseudoscalar mesons in the Gaussian Functional Approximation (GFA). We use the SU(3) linear sigma model Lagrangian with nonet scalar and pseudo-scalar mesons including symmetry breaking terms. In the GFA, we take the Gaussian Ansatz for the ground state wave function and apply the variational method to minimize the ground state energy. We derive the gap equations for the dressed meson masses, which are actually just variational parameters in the GFA method. We use the Bethe-Salpeter equation for meson-meson scattering which provides the masses of the physical nonet mesons. We construct the projection operators for the flavor SU(3) in order to work out the scattering T-matrix in an efficient way. In this paper, we discuss the properties of the Nambu-Goldstone bosons in various limits of the chiral $U_L(3)\times U_R(3)$ symmetry.

The Strong Decay Patterns of the $1^{-+}$ Exotic Hybrid Mesons

We calculate the coupling constants of the decay modes $1^{-+}\rightarrowρπ, f_1π, b_1π, ηπ, η'π, a_1π, f_1η$ within the framework of the light-cone QCD sum rule. Then we calculate the partial width of these decay channels, which differ greatly from the existing calculations using phenomenological models. For the isovector $1^{-+}$ state, the dominant decay modes are $ρπ, f_1π$. For its isoscalar partner, its dominant decay mode is $a_1π$. We also discuss the possible search of the $1^{-+}$ state at BESIII, for example through the decay chains $J/ψ(ψ')\to π_1 +γ$ or $J/ψ(ψ')\to π_1 +ρ$ where $π_1$ can be reconstructed through the decay modes $π_1\to ρπ\to π^+π^-π^0$ or $π_1\to f_1(1285)π^0$. Hopefully the present work will be helpful to the experimental establishment of the $1^{-+}$ hybrid meson.

Light Scalar Tetraquark Mesons in the QCD Sum Rule

We study the lowest-lying scalar mesons in the QCD sum rule by considering them as tetraquark states. We find that there are five independent currents for each state with a certain flavor structure. By forming linear combinations, we find that some mixed currents give reliable QCD sum rules. Among various tetraquark currents, we consider those which are constructed by the diquarks having anti-symmetric and symmetric flavor structures. That the results of the QCD sum rule derived from the two types of currents are similar suggests that the tetraquark states can have a large mixing between different flavor structures.
