The Gamma and Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjectures: a tropical approach to periods

We propose a new method to compute asymptotics of periods using tropical geometry, in which the Riemann zeta values appear naturally as error terms in tropicalization. Our method suggests how the Gamma class should arise from the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture. We use it to give a new proof of (a version of) the Gamma Conjecture for Batyrev pairs of mirror Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces.

Global Mirrors and Discrepant Transformations for Toric Deligne-Mumford Stacks

We introduce a global Landau-Ginzburg model which is mirror to several toric Deligne-Mumford stacks and describe the change of the Gromov-Witten theories under discrepant transformations. We prove a formal decomposition of the quantum cohomology D-modules (and of the all-genus Gromov-Witten potentials) under a discrepant toric wall-crossing. In the case of weighted blowups of weak-Fano compact toric stacks along toric centres, we show that an analytic lift of the formal decomposition corresponds, via the $\widehatΓ$-integral structure, to an Orlov-type semiorthogonal decomposition of topological $K$-groups. We state a conjectural functoriality of Gromov-Witten theories under discrepant transformations in terms of a Riemann-Hilbert problem.

On the finiteness of quantum K-theory of a homogeneous space

We show that the product in the quantum K-ring of a generalized flag manifold $G/P$ involves only finitely many powers of the Novikov variables. In contrast to previous approaches to this finiteness question, we exploit the finite difference module structure of quantum K-theory. At the core of the proof is a bound on the asymptotic growth of the $J$-function, which in turn comes from an analysis of the singularities of the zastava spaces studied in geometric representation theory. An appendix by H. Iritani establishes the equivalence between finiteness and a quadratic growth condition on certain shift operators.

Gromov-Witten Theory of Quotient of Fermat Calabi-Yau varieties

We construct a global B-model for weighted homogeneous polynomials based on K. Saito's theory of primitive forms. Our main motivation is to give a rigorous statement of the so called global mirror symmetry conjecture relating Gromov-Witten invariants and Fan--Jarvis--Ruan--Witten invariants. Furthermore, our construction allows us to generalize the notion of a quasi-modular form and holomorphic anomaly equations. Finally, we prove the global mirror symmetry conjecture for the Fermat polynomials.

Extremal Transition and Quantum Cohomology: Examples of Toric Degeneration

When a singular projective variety X_sing admits a projective crepant resolution X_res and a smoothing X_sm, we say that X_res and X_sm are related by extremal transition. In this paper, we study a relationship between the quantum cohomology of X_res and X_sm in some examples. For three dimensional conifold transition, a result of Li and Ruan implies that the quantum cohomology of a smoothing X_sm is isomorphic to a certain subquotient of the quantum cohomology of a resolution X_res with the quantum variables of exceptional curves specialized to one. We observe that similar phenomena happen for toric degenerations of Fl(1,2,3), Gr(2,4) and Gr(2,5) by explicit computations.

Quantum Serre theorem as a duality between quantum D-modules

We give an interpretation of quantum Serre of Coates and Givental as a duality of twisted quantum D-modules. This interpretation admits a non-equivariant limit, and we obtain a precise relationship among (1) the quantum D-module of X twisted by a convex vector bundle E and the Euler class, (2) the quantum D-module of the total space of the dual bundle E^\vee over X, and (3) the quantum D-module of a submanifold Z\subset X cut out by a regular section of E. When E is the anticanonical line bundle K_X^{-1}, we identify these twisted quantum D-modules with second structure connections with different parameters, which arise as Fourier-Laplace transforms of the quantum D-module of X. In this case, we show that the duality pairing is identified with Dubrovin's second metric (intersection form).

On the Convergence of Gromov-Witten Potentials and Givental's Formula

Let X be a smooth projective variety. The Gromov-Witten potentials of X are generating functions for the Gromov-Witten invariants of X: they are formal power series, sometimes in infinitely many variables, with Taylor coefficients given by Gromov-Witten invariants of X. It is natural to ask whether these formal power series converge. In this paper we describe and analyze various notions of convergence for Gromov-Witten potentials. Using results of Givental and Teleman, we show that if the quantum cohomology of X is analytic and generically semisimple then the genus-g Gromov-Witten potential of X converges for all g. We deduce convergence results for the all-genus Gromov-Witten potentials of compact toric varieties, complete flag varieties, and certain non-compact toric varieties.

On the Existence of a Global Neighbourhood

Suppose that a complex manifold M is locally embedded into a higher-dimensional neighbourhood as a submanifold. We show that, if the local neighbourhood germs are compatible in a suitable sense, then they glue together to give a global neighbourhood of M. As an application, we prove a global version of Hertling--Manin's unfolding theorem for germs of TEP structures; this has applications in the study of quantum cohomology.

Reconstruction and Convergence in Quantum $K$-Theory via Difference Equations

We give a new reconstruction method of big quantum $K$-ring based on the $q$-difference module structure in quantum $K$-theory. The $q$-difference structure yields commuting linear operators $A_{i,\rm com}$ on the $K$-group as many as the Picard number of the target manifold. The genus-zero quantum $K$-theory can be reconstructed from the $q$-difference structure at the origin $t=0$ if the $K$-group is generated by a single element under the actions of $A_{i,\rm com}$. This method allows us to prove the convergence of the big quantum $K$-rings of certain manifolds, including the projective spaces and the complete flag manifold $\operatorname{Fl}_3$.

Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence, global mirror symmetry and Orlov equivalence

We show that the Gromov-Witten theory of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces matches, in genus zero and after an analytic continuation, the quantum singularity theory (FJRW theory) recently introduced by Fan, Jarvis and Ruan following ideas of Witten. Moreover, on both sides, we highlight two remarkable integral local systems arising from the common formalism of Gamma-integral structures applied to the derived category of the hypersurface {W=0} and to the category of graded matrix factorizations of W. In this setup, we prove that the analytic continuation matches Orlov equivalence between the two above categories.

An integral structure in quantum cohomology and mirror symmetry for toric orbifolds

We introduce an integral structure in orbifold quantum cohomology associated to the K-group and the Gamma-class. In the case of compact toric orbifolds, we show that this integral structure matches with the natural integral structure for the Landau-Ginzburg model under mirror symmetry. By assuming the existence of an integral structure, we give a natural explanation for the specialization to a root of unity in Y. Ruan's crepant resolution conjecture.

Computing Genus-Zero Twisted Gromov-Witten Invariants

Twisted Gromov-Witten invariants are intersection numbers in moduli spaces of stable maps to a manifold or orbifold X which depend in addition on a vector bundle over X and an invertible multiplicative characteristic class. Special cases are closely related to local Gromov-Witten invariants of the bundle, and to genus-zero one-point invariants of complete intersections in X. We develop tools for computing genus-zero twisted Gromov-Witten invariants of orbifolds and apply them to several examples. We prove a "quantum Lefschetz theorem" which expresses genus-zero one-point Gromov-Witten invariants of a complete intersection in terms of those of the ambient orbifold X. We determine the genus-zero Gromov-Witten potential of the type A surface singularity C^2/Z_n. We also compute some genus-zero invariants of C^3/Z_3, verifying predictions of Aganagic-Bouchard-Klemm. In a self-contained Appendix, we determine the relationship between the quantum cohomology of the A_n surface singularity and that of its crepant resolution, thereby proving the Crepant Resolution Conjectures of Ruan and Bryan-Graber in this case.

Wall-Crossings in Toric Gromov-Witten Theory I: Crepant Examples

Let X be a Gorenstein orbifold and let Y be a crepant resolution of X. We state a conjecture relating the genus-zero Gromov--Witten invariants of X to those of Y, which differs in general from the Crepant Resolution Conjectures of Ruan and Bryan--Graber, and prove our conjecture when X = P(1,1,2) and X = P(1,1,1,3). As a consequence, we see that the original form of the Bryan--Graber Conjecture holds for P(1,1,2) but is probably false for P(1,1,1,3). Our methods are based on mirror symmetry for toric orbifolds.
