Atomic Size Pearls being Dark Matter giving Electron Signal

We seek to explain both the seeming observation of dark matter by the seasonal variation of the DAMA-LIBRA data and the observation of "electron recoil" events at Xenon1T in which the liquid Xe scintillator was excited by electrons - in excess to the expected background - by the same dark matter model. In our model the dark matter consists of bubbles of a new type of vacuum containing ordinary atomic matter, say diamond, under high pressure ensured by the surface tension of the separation domain wall. We also seek to explain the self interactions of dark matter suggested by astronomical studies of dwarf galaxies and the central structure of galaxy clusters. The interaction with matter in the shielding is responsible for slowing the dark matter down to a low terminal velocity, so underground detectors have insufficient energy for detection. Further we explain the "mysterious" X-ray line of 3.5 keV, even the 3.5 keV X-ray radiation from the Tycho supernova remnant. The DAMA-LIBRA and Xenon1T experiments see decaying dark matter pearls. Both these underground experiments see events with about 3.5 keV energy, just the energy of the X-ray line. We fit numerically the cross section over mass ratio for the self interaction of the dark matter as observed in the study of dwarf galaxies and find the size of the pearls to be rather close to the smallest possible in our model. However DAMA cause some problem to get heavier pearls. Also the total energy of the dark matter pearls stopped in the shield is reasonably matching. Accepting the different phases of the vacuum the model could be realized inside the Standard Model, our whole scheme could be realized inside the Standard Model.

Predicting the SUSY breaking scale in SUGRA models with degenerate vacua

In N=1 supergravity the scalar potential may have supersymmetric (SUSY) and non-supersymmetric Minkowski vacua (associated with supersymmetric and physical phases) with vanishing energy density. In the supersymmetric Minkowski (second) phase some breakdown of SUSY may be induced by non-perturbative effects in the observable sector that give rise to a tiny positive vacuum energy density. Postulating the exact degeneracy of the physical and second vacua as well as assuming that at high energies the couplings in both phases are almost identical, one can estimate the dark energy density in these vacua. It is mostly determined by the SUSY breaking scale M_S in the physical phase. Exploring the two-loop renormalization group (RG) flow of couplings in these vacua we find that the measured value of the cosmological constant can be reproduced if M_S varies from 20 TeV to 400 TeV. We also argue that this prediction for the SUSY breaking scale is consistent with the upper bound on M_S in the higgsino dark matter scenario.

New results at LHC confirming the vacuum stability and Multiple Point Principle

In the present paper we argue that the correction to the Higgs mass coming from the bound state of 6 top and 6 anti-top quarks, predicted early by C.D. Froggatt and ourselves, leads to the Standard Model vacuum stability and confirms the accuracy of the multiple point principle (principle of degenerate vacua) for all experimentally valued parameters (Higgs mass, top-quark mass, etc.). Fitting to get the vacuum degeneracy requires a mass of the bound state, just in the region of the new two photon state in LHC, 750-760 GeV.

On the smallness of the cosmological constant in SUGRA models with Planck scale SUSY breaking and degenerate vacua

We argue that the exact degeneracy of vacua in N=1 supergravity can shed light on the smallness of the cosmological constant. The presence of such vacua, which are degenerate to very high accuracy, may also result in small values of the quartic Higgs coupling and its beta function at the Planck scale in the phase in which we live.

Planck Scale Physics, Gravi-Weak Unification and the Higgs Inflation

Starting with a theory of the discrete space-time at the Planck scale, we developed a Gravi-Weak Unification (GWU) - a $Spin(4,4)$-invariant model unified gravity with weak $SU(2)$ gauge and Higgs fields in the visible and invisible sectors of the Universe. Considering the Gravi-Weak symmetry breaking, we showed that the obtained sub-algebras contain the self-dual left-handed gravity in the OW, and the anti-self-dual right-handed gravity in the MW. Finally, at the low energy limit, we have only the Standard Model (SM) and the Einstein-Hilbert's gravity. The Froggatt-Nielsen's prediction of the top-quark and Higgs masses was given in the assumption that there exist two degenerate vacua in the SM. This prediction was improved by the next order calculations. We have developed a model of the Higgs Inflation using the GWU action. According to this inflationary model, a scalar field (inflaton) starts trapped from the "false vacuum" of the Universe at the Higgs field's VEV $v_2 \sim 10^{18}$ GeV. The interaction between the ordinary and mirror Higgs fields $ϕ$ and $\widetildeϕ$ generates a Hybrid model by A.~Linde of the Higgs Inflation in our Universe.

Tunguska Dark Matter Ball

It is suggested that the Tunguska event in June 1908 cm-large was due to a cm-large ball of a condensate of bound states of 6 top and 6 anti-top quarks containing highly compressed ordinary matter. Such balls are supposed to make up the dark matter as we earlier proposed. The expected rate of impact of this kind of dark matter ball with the earth seems to crudely match a time scale of 200 years between the impacts. The main explosion of the Tunguska event is explained in our picture as material coming out from deep within the earth, where it has been heated and compressed by the ball penetrating to a depth of several thousand km. Thus the effect has some similarity with volcanic activity as suggested by Kundt. We discuss the possible identification of kimberlite pipes with earlier Tunguska-like events. A discussion of how the dark matter balls may have formed in the early universe is also given.

Cosmological constant in SUGRA models with Planck scale SUSY breaking and degenerate vacua

The empirical mass of the Higgs boson suggests small to vanishing values of the quartic Higgs self--coupling and the corresponding beta function at the Planck scale, leading to degenerate vacua. This leads us to suggest that the measured value of the cosmological constant can originate from supergravity (SUGRA) models with degenerate vacua. This scenario is realised if there are at least three exactly degenerate vacua. In the first vacuum, associated with the physical one, local supersymmetry (SUSY) is broken near the Planck scale while the breakdown of the SU(2)_W\times U(1)_Y symmetry takes place at the electroweak (EW) scale. In the second vacuum local SUSY breaking is induced by gaugino condensation at a scale which is just slightly lower than Λ_{QCD} in the physical vacuum. Finally, in the third vacuum local SUSY and EW symmetry are broken near the Planck scale.

Diphoton decay of the Higgs boson and new bound states of top and anti-top quarks

We consider the constraints, provided by the LHC results on Higgs boson decay into 2 photons and its production via gluon fusion, on the previously proposed Standard Model (SM) strongly bound state $S$ of 6 top quarks and 6 anti-top quarks. A correlation is predicted between the ratios $κ_γ$ and $κ_g$ of the Higgs diphoton decay and gluon production amplitudes respectively to their SM values. We estimate the contribution to these amplitudes from one loop diagrams involving the 12 quark bound state $S$ and related excited states using an atomic physics based model. We find two regions of parameter space consistent with the ATLAS and CMS data on ($κ_γ$, $κ_g$) at the 3 sigma level: a region close to the SM values ($κ_γ=1$, $κ_g =1$) with the mass of the bound state $m_S > 400$ GeV and a region with ($κ_γ \sim 3/2$, $κ_g \sim -3/4$) corresponding to a bound state mass of $m_S \sim 220$ GeV.

On the smallness of the cosmological constant

In N=1 supergravity the scalar potential of the hidden sector may have degenerate supersymmetric (SUSY) and non-supersymmetric Minkowski vacua. In this case local SUSY in the second supersymmetric Minkowski phase can be broken dynamically. Assuming that such a second phase and the phase associated with the physical vacuum are exactly degenerate, we estimate the value of the cosmological constant. We argue that the observed value of the dark energy density can be reproduced if in the second vacuum local SUSY breaking is induced by gaugino condensation at a scale which is just slightly lower than Λ_{QCD} in the physical vacuum. The presence of a third degenerate vacuum, in which local SUSY and electroweak (EW) symmetry are broken near the Planck scale, may lead to small values of the quartic Higgs self--coupling and the corresponding beta function at the Planck scale in the phase in which we live.

Standard Model and Graviweak Unification with (Super)Renormalizable Gravity. Part I: Visible and Invisible Sectors of the Universe

We develop a self-consistent $Spin(4,4)$-invariant model of the unification of gravity with weak $SU(2)$ gauge and Higgs fields in the visible and invisible sectors of our Universe. We consider a general case of the graviweak unification, including the higher-derivative super-renormalizable theory of gravity, which is a unitary, asymptotically-free and perturbatively consistent theory of the quantum gravity.

Towards a Derivation of Space

This attempt to "derive" space is part of the Random Dynamics project. The Random Dynamics philosophy is that what we observe at our low energy level can be interpreted as some Taylor tail of the physics taking place at a higher energy level, and all the concepts like numbers, space, symmetry, as well as the known physical laws, emerge from a "fundamental world machinery" being a most general, random mathematical structure. Here we concentrate on obtaining spacetime in such a Random Dynamics way. Because of quantum mechanics, we get space identified with about half the dimension of the phase space of a very extended wave packet, which we call "the Snake". In the last section we also explain locality from diffeomorphism symmetry.

Dimension Four Wins the Same Game as the Standard Model Group

In a previous article Don Bennett and I looked for, found and proposed a game in which the Standard Model group S(U(2)XU(3)) gets singled out as the "winner". Here I propose to extend this "game" to construct a corresponding game between different potential dimensions for space time. The idea is to formulate how the same competition as the one between the potential gauge groups would run out, if restricted to the potential Lorentz or Poincare groups achievable for different dimensions of space time d. The remarkable point is that it is the experimental dimension of space time 4 which wins. So the same function defined over Lie groups seems to single out both the gauge group and the space time dimension in nature. This seems a rather strange coincidence unless there is really some similar physics behind.

Discussion on the Cosmological Vacuum Energy

The present discussion contribution is some remarks concerning and review of the proposal by one of us (C. Balazs) to explain the cosmological constant by a/the principle of entropy. Used without further comment this principle of entropy could easily lead to untrustable {\em nonlocalities}, but taking into account that the long range correlations are rather to be understood as due to initial condition set up the model for the cosmological constant being small by one of us becomes quite viable.

Explaining Phenomenologically Observed Space-time Flatness Requires New Fundamental Scale Physics

The phenomenologically observed flatness - or near flatness - of spacetime cannot be understood as emerging from continuum Planck (or sub-Planck) scales using known physics. Using dimensional arguments it is demonstrated that any immaginable action will lead to Christoffel symbols that are chaotic. We put forward new physics in the form of fundamental fields that spontaneously break translational invariance. Using these new fields as coordinates we define the metric in such a way that the Riemann tensor vanishes identically as a Bianchi identity. Hence the new fundamental fields define a flat space. General relativity with curvature is recovered as an effective theory at larger scales at which crystal defects in the form of disclinations come into play as the sources of curvature.

Gravi-Weak Unification and Multiple Point Principle

We construct a model unifying gravity with weak $SU(2)$ gauge and "Higgs" scalar fields. We assume the existence of a visible and an invisible (hidden) sector of the Universe. We used the extension of Plebanski's 4-dimensional gravitational theory, in which the fundamental fields are two-forms containing tetrads, spin connections and additional auxiliary fields. Considering a $Spin(4,4)$ invariant extended Plebanski action, we recover the actions in both (visible and invisible) sectors of the Universe. After symmetry breaking of the graviweak (GW) unification, its physical constants (Newton's constants, cosmological constants, YM-couplings, etc.), are determined by a parameter $g_{uni}$ of the GW unification. It is discussed that if this "Higgs" field coming in the GW unification could be the Higgs of the Standard Model, then the idea that its vacuum value could be, according to the Multiple Point Principle, a second minimum of the Higgs field effective potential, turns out not to be viable. Then other scalar "Higgs" field, giving the inflation and axion fields, has a Planck scale expectation value, and could have a better chance of being the scalar field unified with gravity.

Gravity and Mirror Gravity in Plebanski Formulation

We present several theories of four-dimensional gravity in the Plebanski formulation, in which the tetrads and the connections are the independent dynamical variables. We consider the relation between different versions of gravitational theories: Einstenian, dual, 'mirror' gravities and gravity with torsion. According to Plebanski's assumption, our world, in which we live, is described by the self-dual left-handed gravity. We propose that if the Mirror World exists in Nature, then the 'mirror gravity' is the right-handed anti-self-dual gravity with broken mirror parity. Considering a special version of the Riemann--Cartan space-time, which has torsion as additional geometric property, we have shown that in the Plebanski formulation the ordinary and dual sectors of gravity, as well as the gravity with torsion, are equivalent. In this context, we have also developed a 'pure connection gravity' -- a diffeomorphism-invariant gauge theory of gravity. We have calculated the partition function and the effective Lagrangian of this four-dimensional gravity and have investigated the limit of this theory at small distances.

Magnetic Moment of Constituent Fermions in Strongly Interacting Matter

We investigate the magnetic moment operator for constituent fermion masses for chirally symmetric theories. Constituent fermion masses are generated through a yukawa interaction of the fermion with a scalar (or /and psuedoscalar) field via the vacuum expectation value (VEV) of the scalar (or and psuedoscalar) field. We especially consider the high baryon density $π_0$ condensed phase, in which chiral symmetry is spontaneously broken, with space varying expectation values of the $ σ$ and $π_0$ fields. This phase has a spin polarized fermi sea as the ground state. We show that there is indeed generated a macroscopic magnetization in this phase, contrary to what one would have found, if one just used a primitive phenomenological magnetic moment formula for explicit/ current fermion masses. Furthermore, this analysis reveals that the magnetization of this state goes up as the VEV, that determines the 'mass', comes down with increasing baryon density. The consequent high magnetic field that is generated will destabilize this state at a threshold density. This is important in the context of neutron stars, as such a high density state may be responsible for very high magnetic fields in the dense core of neutron stars. This could potentially be the origin of magnetars - the stars with the largest magnetic fields in the universe.

New indications of the existence of the 6 top-anti-top quark bound states in LHC experiments

It was shown: 1) that the mass of the Higgs boson discovered by LHC corresponds to the stability conditions of the SM vacua and to the Multiple Point Principle, according to which all vacua of the SM are degenerate, or almost degenerate; 2) that early predicted by authors new bound states (NBS) of the 6 top and 6 anti-top quarks ("T-fireballs"), which are formed by their intermediate interactions with the Higgs bosons, manifest themselves in the production of multijets in pp-collisions at LHC. The CMS experiment of LHC with the production of 10 jets can be explained by the production of pairs of these NBS along with the production of pairs of the top-anti-top quarks. 3) Also it was shown that the next indication of the possible existence of the NBS can be the decay $H\to γγ$, which was observed by CMS-collaboration of LHC. We have considered the contributions of the one-loop diagrams to the width $Γ_{H\to γγ}$, taking into account the contributions of the T-fireballs along the contributions of the known SM-particles.

Physical Account of Weyl Anomaly from Dirac Sea

We derive the Weyl anomaly in two dimensional space-time by considering the Dirac sea regularized some negatively counted formally bosonic extra species. In fact we calculate the trace of the energy-momentum tensor of the Dirac sea in a background gravitational field. It has to be regularized, since otherwise the Dirac sea is bottomless and thus causes divergence. The new regularization method consists in adding various massive species some of which are to be counted negative in the Dirac sea.The mass term in the Lagrangian of the regularization fields have a dependence on the background gravitational field.

The relation between the model of a crystal with defects and Plebanski's theory of gravity

In the present investigation we show that there exists a close analogy of geometry of spacetime in GR with a structure of defects in a crystal. We present the relation between the Kleinert's model of a crystal with defects and Plebanski's theory of gravity. We have considered the translational defects - dislocations, and the rotational defects - disclinations - in the 3- and 4-dimensional crystals. The 4-dimensional crystalline defects present the Riemann-Cartan spacetime which has an additional geometric property - "torsion" - connected with dislocations. The world crystal is a model for the gravitation which has a new type of gauge symmetry: the Einstein's gravitation has a zero torsion as a special gauge, while a zero connection is another equivalent gauge with nonzero torsion which corresponds to the Einstein's theory of "teleparallelism". Any intermediate choice of the gauge with nonzero connection A^{IJ}_μis also allowed. In the present investigation we show that in the Plebanski formulation the phase of gravity with torsion is equivalent to the ordinary or topological gravity, and we can exclude a torsion as a separate dynamical variable.

"An effective two dimensionality" cases bring a new hope to the Kaluza-Klein[like] theories

One step towards realistic Kaluza-Klein[like] theories and a loop hole through the Witten's "no-go theorem" is presented for cases which we call an effective two dimensionality cases: In $d=2$ the equations of motion following from the action with the linear curvature leave spin connections and zweibeins undetermined. We present the case of a spinor in $d=(1+5)$ compactified on a formally infinite disc with the zweibein which makes a disc curved on an almost $S^2$ and with the spin connection field which allows on such a sphere only one massless normalizable spinor state of a particular charge, which couples the spinor chirally to the corresponding Kaluza-Klein gauge field. We assume no external gauge fields. The masslessness of a spinor is achieved by the choice of a spin connection field (which breaks parity), the zweibein and the normalizability condition for spinor states, which guarantee a discrete spectrum forming the complete basis. We discuss the meaning of the hole, which manifests the noncompactness of the space.

An Idea of New String Field Theory - Liberating Right and Left Movers -

We develop the idea for a new string field theory of ours that was proposed earlier in a very rudimentary form in a talk in the Symposium of Tohwa University [1]. The main point is to describe the system of strings in the Universe by means of the images of the derivatives of the right and left mover parts of the 26-position vector on the strings w.r.t. tau. The major progress since the Tohwa-talks [1] is to imagine a discretization of the variables on which right and left movers respectively depend. We then observe that, by using only the descritized even-numbered sites, we can set the commutation rules for second quantization without any contradiction. In fact we can quantize the objects described by these even numbered images. A light-cone frame description of the string field theory in this way is presented.

Dark Energy density in models with Split Supersymmetry and degenerate vacua

In N=1 supergravity supersymmetric (SUSY) and non-supersymmetric Minkowski vacua originating in the hidden sector can be degenerate. In the supersymmetric phase in flat Minkowski space non-perturbative supersymmetry breakdown may take place in the observable sector, inducing a non-zero and positive vacuum energy density. Assuming that such a supersymmetric phase and the phase in which we live are degenerate, we estimate the value of the cosmological constant. We argue that the observed value of the dark energy density can be reproduced in the Split-SUSY scenario of the supersymmetry breaking if the SUSY breaking scale is of order of 10^{10} GeV.

Mirror World and Superstring-Inspired Hidden Sector of the Universe, Dark Matter and Dark Energy

We develop a concept of parallel existence of the ordinary (O) and hidden (H) worlds. We compare two cases: 1) when the hidden sector of the Universe is a mirror counterpart of the ordinary world, and 2) when it is a superstring-inspired shadow world described, in contrast to the mirror world, by a symmetry group (or by a chain of groups), which does not coincide with the ordinary world symmetry group. We construct a cosmological model assuming the existence of the superstring-inspired E_6 unification, broken at the early stage of the Universe to SO(10)\times U(1)_Z - in the O-world, and to SU(6)'\times SU(2)'_θ- in the H-world. As a result, we obtain the low energy symmetry group G'_SM\times SU(2)'_θin the shadow world, instead of the Standard Model group G_SM existing in the O-world. The additional non-Abelian SU(2)'_θgroup with massless gauge fields, "thetons", is responsible for dark energy. Considering a quintessence model of cosmology with an inflaton σand an axion a_θ, which is a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson induced by the SU(2)'_θ-group anomaly, we explain the origin of Dark Energy, Dark Matter and Ordinary Matter. In the present model we review all cosmological epochs (inflation, reheating, recombination and nucleosynthesis), and give our version of the baryogenesis. The cosmological constant problem is also briefly discussed.

New Bound States of Heavy Quarks at LHC and Tevatron

The present paper is based on the assumption that heavy quarks bound states exist in the Standard Model (SM). Considering New Bound States (NBS) of top-anti-top quarks (named T-balls) we have shown that: 1) there exists the scalar 1S--bound state of $6t+6\bar t$; 2) the forces which bind the top-quarks are very strong and almost completely compensate the mass of the twelve top-anti-top-quarks in the scalar NBS; 3) such strong forces are produced by the Higgs-top-quarks interaction with a large value of the top-quark Yukawa coupling constant $g_t\simeq 1$. Theory also predicts the existence of the NBS $6t + 5\bar t$, which is a color triplet and a fermion similar to the $t'$-quark of the fourth generation. We have also considered the "b-quark-replaced" NBS, estimated the masses of the lightest fermionic NBS: $M_{NBS}\gtrsim 300$ GeV, and discussed the larger masses of T-balls. We have developed a theory of the scalar T-ball's condensate and predicted the existence of three SM phases. Searching for heavy quark bound states at the Tevatron and LHC is discussed. We have constructed the possible form-factors of T-balls, and estimated the charge multiplicity coming from the T-ball's decays.

Spontaneously Generated Tensor Field Gravity

An arbitrary local theory of a symmetric two-tensor field $H_{μν}$ in Minkowski spacetime is considered, in which the equations of motion are required to be compatible with a nonlinear length-fixing constraint $H_{μν}^{2}=\pm M^{2}$ leading to spontaneous Lorentz invariance violation, SLIV ($M$ is the proposed scale for SLIV). Allowing the parameters in the Lagrangian to be adjusted so as to be consistent with this constraint, the theory turns out to correspond to linearized general relativity in the weak field approximation, while some of the massless tensor Goldstone modes appearing through SLIV are naturally collected in the physical graviton. In essence the underlying diffeomophism invariance emerges as a necessary condition for the tensor field $H_{μν}$ not to be superfluously restricted in degrees of freedom, apart from the constraint due to which the true vacuum in the theory is chosen by SLIV. The emergent theory appears essentially nonlinear, when expressed in terms of the pure Goldstone tensor modes and contains a plethora of new Lorentz and $CPT$ violating couplings. However, these couplings do not lead to physical Lorentz violation once this tensor field gravity is properly extended to conventional general relativity.

The New Dijet Particle in the Tevatron IS the Higgs

The newly found \cite{CDFnew} dijet peak in the 120 GeV to 160 GeV mass region produced in co-production with W IS actually a Higgs Boson in spite of the expectation of a different decay pattern for most Higgses. Our point, however, is that the bound state of 6t + 6$\bar{t}$, which we have put forward already in several articles \cite{boundfirst}\cite{bound} \cite{dark}\cite{hierarchybound}, easily could be lighter - possibly much lighter - than half the Higgs mass. Higgs would in this case decay dominantly to two of our bound states. If these bound states were indeed very light (say around 10 GeV) their decay products into hadrons would like two jets, one for each bound state. Even a very small mass for our bound state is not unexpected isofar as it is part of our model that especially the top-quark-Yukawa coupling is being tuned so as to make precisely this bound state of $6t + 6\bar{t}$ become (approximately) massless. This tuning is a consequence of our Multiple Point Principle \cite{old} \cite{SIMPP} which states that the realized parameter/coupling values correspond to having a maximal set of degenerate vacua. Even the very recent LHC-peak in photon photon might be fitted to our model.

As a result, we have obtained in the hidden world the low energy symmetry group G'_SM X SU(2)'_θ, instead of the Standard Model group G_SM. The additional non-Abelian SU(2)'_θgroup with massless gauge fields, "thetons", is responsible for the dark energy. We present a baryogenesis mechanism with the B-L asymmetry produced by the conversion of ordinary leptons into particles of the hidden sector.

Dark Energy density in Split SUSY models inspired by degenerate vacua

It is well known that global symmetries protect local supersymmetry and a zero value for the cosmological constant in no--scale supergravity. The breakdown of these symmetries, which ensure the vanishing of the vacuum energy density, results in a set of degenerate vacua with broken and unbroken supersymmetry leading to the natural realisation of the multiple point principle (MPP). Assuming the degeneracy of vacua with broken and unbroken SUSY in the hidden sector we estimate the value of the cosmological constant. We argue that the observed value of the dark energy density can be reproduced in the split-SUSY scenario if the SUSY breaking scale is of the order of 10^{10} GeV.

Homolumo Gap from Dynamical Energy Levels

We introduce a dynamical matrix model where the matrix $X$ is interpreted as a Hamiltonian representing interaction of a bosonic system with a single fermion. We show how a system of second-quantized fermions influences the ground state of the whole system by producing a gap between the highest occupied eigenvalue and the lowest unoccupied eigenvalue. We describe the development of the gap in both, strong and weak coupling regime, while for the intermediate coupling strength we expect formation of homolumo "kinks".

Initial Condition Model from Imaginary Part of Action and the Information Loss

We review slightly a work by Horowitz and Maldecena solving the information loss problem for black holes by having inside the blackhole - near to the singularity - a boundary condition, as e.g the no boundary proposal by Hartle and Hawking. Here we propose to make this boundary condition come out of our imaginary action model (together with Masao Ninomiya). This model naturally begins effectively to set up boundaries - whether it be in future or past! - especially strongly whenever we reach to high energy physics regimes, such as near the black hole singularity, or in Higgs producing machines as LHC or SSC. In such cases one can say our model predicts miracles. The point is that you may say that the information loss problem, unless you solve it in other ways, call for such a violation of time causality as in our imaginary action model!

On the origin of approximate custodial symmetry in the Two-Higgs Doublet Model

We argue that the consistent implementation of the multiple point principle (MPP) in the general non-supersymmetric two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) can lead to a set of approximate global custodial symmetries that ensure CP conservation in the Higgs sector and the absence of flavour changing neutral currents (FCNC) in the considered model. In particular the existence of a large set of degenerate vacua at some high energy scale $Λ$ caused by the MPP can result in approximate U(1) and Z(2) symmetries that suppress FCNC and CP--violating interactions in the 2HDM. We explore the renormalisation group (RG) flow of the Yukawa and Higgs couplings within the MPP inspired 2HDM with approximate custodial symmetries and show that the solutions of the RG equations are focused near quasi--fixed points at low energies if the MPP scale scale $Λ$ is relatively high. We study the Higgs spectrum and couplings near the quasi--fixed point at moderate values of $\tanβ$ and compute a theoretical upper bound on the lightest Higgs boson mass. If $Λ\gtrsim 10^{10} {GeV}$ the lightest CP--even Higgs boson is always lighter than $125 {GeV}$. When the MPP scale is low, the mass of the lightest Higgs particle can reach $180-220 {GeV}$ while its coupling to the top quark can be significantly larger than in the SM, resulting in the enhanced production of Higgs bosons at the LHC.

Generalized dual symmetry of nonabelian theories and the freezing of α_s

The quantum Yang-Mills theory, describing a system of fields with non-dual (chromo-electric g) and dual (chromo-magnetic \tilde g) charges and revealing the generalized dual symmetry, is developed by analogy with the Zwanziger formalism in QED. The renormalization group equations (RGEs) for pure nonabelian theories are analysed for both constants, α= g^2 / 4πand \tildeα= {\tilde g}^2 / 4π. The pure SU(3) \times \widetilde{SU(3)} gauge theory is investigated as an example. We consider not only monopoles, but also dyons. The behaviour of the total SU(3) β-function is investigated in the whole region of α\equiv α_s: 0 \le α< \infty. It is shown that this β-function is antisymmetric under the interchange α\longleftrightarrow 1/αand is given by the well-known perturbative expansion not only for α\ll 1, but also for α\gg 1. Using an idea of the Maximal Abelian Projection by t' Hooft, we considered the formation of strings - the ANO flux tubes - in the Higgs model of scalar monopole (or dyon) fields. In this model we have constructed the behaviour of the β-function in the vicinity of the point α= 1, where it acquires a zero value. Considering the phase transition points at α\approx 0.4 and α\approx 2.5, we give the explanation of the freezing of α_s. The evolution of α_s^{-1}(μ) and the behaviour of V_{eff}(μ) are investigated for both, perturbative and non-perturbative regions of QCD. It was shown that the effective potential has a minimum, ensured by the dual sector of QCD. The gluon condensate F^2_0, corresponding to this minimum, is predicted: F^2_0 \approx 0.15 GeV^4, in agreement with the well-known results.

The Fundamental-Weak Scale Hierarchy in the Standard Model

The multiple point principle, according to which several vacuum states with the same energy density exist, is put forward as a fine-tuning mechanism predicting the ratio between the fundamental and electroweak scales in the Standard Model (SM). It is shown that this ratio is exponentially huge: $\sim e^{40}$. Using renormalisation group equations for the SM, we obtain the effective potential in the 2-loop approximation and investigate the existence of its postulated second minimum at the fundamental scale. The investigation of the evolution of the top quark Yukawa coupling constant in the 2-loop approximation shows that, with initial values of the top Yukawa coupling in the interval $h(M_t)=0.95\pm 0.03$ (here $M_t$ is the top quark pole mass), a second minimum of the SM effective potential can exist in the region $ϕ_{min2}\approx 10^{16}-10^{22}$ GeV. A prediction is made of the existence of a new bound state of 6 top quarks and 6 anti-top quarks, formed due to Higgs boson exchanges between pairs of quarks/anti-quarks. This bound state is supposed to condense in a new phase of the SM vacuum. This gives rise to the possibility of having a phase transition between vacua with and without such a condensate. The existence of three vacuum states (new, electroweak and fundamental) solves the hierarchy problem in the SM.

Monopoles and Family Replicated Unification

The present theory is based on the assumption that at the very small (Planck scale) distances our space-time is discrete, and this discreteness influences on the Planck scale physics. Considering our (3+1)-dimensional space-time as a regular hypercubic lattice with a parameter $a=λ_\text{P}$, where $λ_\text{P}$ is the Planck length, we have investigated a role of lattice artifact monopoles which is essential near the Planck scale if the Family replicated gauge group model (FRGGM) is an extension of the Standard Model at high energies. It was shown that monopoles have $N$ times smaller magnetic charge in FRGGM than in SM ($N$ is the number of families in FRGGM). These monopoles can give an additional contribution to beta-functions of the renormalisation group equations for the running fine structure constants $α_\text{i}(μ)$ (i=1,2,3 correspond to the U(1), SU(2), and SU(3) gauge groups of the Standard Model). We have used the Dirac relation for renormalised electric and magnetic charges. Also we have estimated the enlargement of a number of fermions in FRGGM leading to the suppression of the asymptotic freedom in the non-Abelian theory. Different role of monopoles in the vicinity of the Planck scale gives rise or to AntiGUT, or to the new possibility of unification of gauge interactions (including gravity) at the scale $μ_\text{GUT}\approx 10^{18.4}$ GeV. We discussed the possibility of the [SU(5)]$^3$ SUSY or [SO(10)]$^3$ SUSY unifications.

Trying to understand the Standard Model parameters

We stress the importance of the circa 20 parameters in the Standard Model, which are not fixed by the model but only determined experimentally, as a window to the physics beyond the Standard Model. However, it is a tiny window in as far as these numbers contain only the information corresponding to about one line of text. Looking for a method to study these coupling and mass parameters, we put forward the idea of the Multiple Point Principle as a first step. This principle states that Nature adjusts the coupling and mass parameters so as to make many different vacuum states exist and have approximately the same energy densities (cosmological constants). As an illustrative application, we put up the proposal that a small increase (maybe only an infinitesimal one) in the value of the top quark coupling constant could lead to a new vacuum phase; in this new phase the binding of a bound state of 6 top quarks and 6 anti-top quarks becomes so strong as to become a tachyon and condense in the vacuum. Assuming the existence of a third degenerate vacuum at the fundamental energy scale, we present a solution to the hierarchy problem of why the ratio of the fundamental scale to the electroweak scale is so large. We also present a 5 parameter fit to the orders of magnitude of the quark-lepton masses and mixing angles in the Family Replicated Gauge Group Model. In this model, the Standard Model gauge group and a gauged B-L (baryon number minus lepton number) is extended to one set of gauge fields for each family of fermions.

Baryogenesis via Lepton Number Violation and Family Replicated Gauge Group

We developed a previous model fitting all quark and lepton -- including neutrino quantities in the region of the Large Mixing Angle-MSW solar solution -- order of magnitudewise by only six adjustable parameters (Higgs vacuum expectation values) to also give an agreeing prediction for the amount of baryogenesis produced in the early time of cosmology. We use Fukugita-Yanagida scheme and take into account now also the effect of the remormalisation equation for the Dirac neutrino sector from Planck scale to the see-saw scale. The present version of our model with many approximately conserved (gauge) charges distinguishing various left- and right-Weyl particles has the largest matrix element of the mass matrix for the three flavour see-saw neutrinos being the off-diagonal elements associated with the second- and third-proto-flavour and gives the ratio of baryon number density to the entropy density to 2.59{+17.0\atop-2.25}\times 10^{-11} which agrees perfectly well as do also all the fermion masses and their mixing angles order of magnitudewise.

Family replicated gauge groups and large mixing angle solar neutrino solution

We present a modification of our previous family replicated gauge group model, which now generates the Large Mixing Angle MSW solution rather than the experimentally disfavoured Small Mixing Angle MSW solution to the solar neutrino oscillation problem. The model is based on each family of quarks and leptons having its own set of gauge fields, each containing a replica of the Standard Model gauge fields plus a (B-L)-coupled gauge field. By a careful choice of the Higgs field gauge quantum numbers, we avoid our previous prediction that the solar neutrino mixing angle is equal order of magnitudewise to the Cabibbo angle, replacing it and the well-known Fritzsch relation with the relation θ_{c}\sim (θ_{\odot})^{-1/3} (m_d/m_s)^{2/3}. At the same time we retain a phenomenologically successful structure for the charged quark and lepton mass matrices. A fit of all the seventeen quark-lepton mass and mixing angle observables, using just six new Higgs field vacuum expectation values, agrees with the experimental data within the theoretically expected uncertainty of about 64%, i.e. it fits perfectly order of magnitudewise.

Five Adjustable Parameter Fit of Quark and Lepton Masses and Mixings

We develop a model of ours fitting the quark and lepton masses and mixing angles by removing from the model a Higgs field previously introduced to organise a large atmospheric mixing angle for neutrino oscillations. Due to the off-diagonal elements dominating in the see-saw neutrino mass matrix the large atmospheric mixing angle comes essentially by itself. It turns out that we have now only five adjustable Higgs field vacuum expectation values needed to fit all the masses and mixings order of magnitudewise taking into account the renormalisation group runnings in all sectors. The CHOOZ angle comes out close to the experimental bound.

Monopoles near the Planck Scale and Unification

Considering our (3+1)-dimensional space-time as, in some way, discrete or l attice with a parameter $a=λ_P$, where $λ_P$ is the Planck length, we have investigated the additional contributions of lattice artifact monopoles to beta-functions of the renormalisation group equations for the running fine structure constants $α_i(μ)$ (i=1,2,3 correspond to the U(1), SU(2) and SU(3) gauge groups of the Standard Model) in the Family Replicated Gauge Group Model (FRGGM) which is an extension of the Standard Model at high energies. It was shown that monopoles have $N_{fam}$ times smaller magnetic charge in FRGGM than in SM ($N_{fam}$ is the number of families in FRGGM). We have estimated al so the enlargement of a number of fermions in FRGGM leading to the suppression of the asymptotic freedom in the non-Abelian theory. We have shown that, in contrast to the case of AntiGUT when the FRGGM undergoes the breakdown at $μ=μ_G\sim 10^{18}$ GeV, we have the possibility of unification if the FRGGM-breakdown occurs at $μ_G\sim 10^{14}$ GeV. By numerical calculations we obtained an example of the unification of all gauge interactions (including gravity) at the scale $μ_{GUT}\approx 10^{18.4}$ GeV. We discussed the possibility of $[SU(5)]^3$ or $[SO(10)]^3$ (SUSY or not SUSY) unifications.

Non-thermal Leptogenesis from the Heavier Majorana Neutrinos

We investigate a scheme for making leptogenesis by means of the CP violating decays of the seesaw Majorana neutrinos proposed by Fukugita and Yanagida. However, in order to avoid the wash-out of the produced lepton number we propose the production of the Majorana neutrinos to occur non-thermally and sufficiently late. After this time, in consequence, the B-L (baryon minus lepton) quantum number becomes a good ``accidental symmetry'' protecting the asymmetry produced. This non-thermal leptogenesis at late time is realized by a boson decaying into the Majorana neutrinos with a long lifetime. Suggestively this boson could correspond to a scalar field which causes the cosmic inflation, the inflaton, and thus its decay means really the reheating of the Universe. We find that this mechanism works well even if the lightest Majorana neutrinos are not produced sufficiently or not present, and the decays of the heavier seesaw Majorana neutrinos can be responsible to the baryon asymmetry in the present Universe, as we illustrate by the example of the family replicated gauge group model.

Neutrino mass matrix in Anti-GUT with see-saw mechanism

We have investigated the predictions of neutrino oscillations within extended Anti-GUT, based on a large gauge group - the Standard Model and an B-L abelian group assumed with separate gauge fields coupling to each family of quarks and leptons. We take into account corrections concerning a crude way of accounting for the number of ways the vacuum expectation values of the Higgs fields of the model can be ordered in the Feynman diagrams yielding the mass matrix elements. Performing these corrections in a balanced way between the charged fermion sector and the neutrino sector (case I) leads to the previous version of our model that was a fit to the MSW small angle solution region. The fit considered here is marginally worse that the previous fit inasmuch as it predicts a somewhat lower solar neutrino mass square difference (which might though be the only way of avoiding the day-night exclusion region). The other two versions (case II and case III) are characterised by the heaviest of the see-saw neutrino matrix elements that are composed either of ν_{Rμ} and ν_{Rτ} or two ν_{Rτ}. These cases II and III fit the small mixing angle MSW scenario very well.

Phase Transition in Gauge Theories and Multiple Point Model

In the present paper the phase transition in the regularized U(1) gauge theory is investigated using the dual Abelian Higgs model of scalar monopoles. The corresponding renormalization group improved effective potential, analogous to the Coleman-Weinberg's one, was considered in the two-loop approximation for $β$ functions, and the phase transition (critical) dual and non-dual couplings were calculated in the U(1) gauge theory. It was shown that the critical value of the renormalized electric fine structure constant $α_{\text{crit}}\approx 0.208$ obtained in this paper coincides with the lattice result for compact QED: $α_{\text{crit}}^{\text{lat}}\approx 0.20\pm 0.015$. This result and the behavior of $α$ in the vicinity of the phase transition point were compared with the Multiple Point Model prediction for the values of $α$ near the Planck scale. Such a comparison is very encouraging for the Multiple Point Model assuming the existence of the multiple critical point at the Planck scale.

Phase Transition in the Higgs Model of Scalar Fields with Electric and Magnetic Charges

Using a one-loop renormalization group improvement for the effective potential in the Higgs model of electrodynamics with electrically and magnetically charged scalar fields, we argue for the existence of a triple (critical) point in the phase diagram ($λ_{run}, g_{run}^4$), where $λ_{run}$ is the renormalised running selfinteraction constant of the Higgs scalar monopoles and $g_{run}$ is their running magnetic charge. This triple point is a boundary point of three first-order phase transitions in the dual sector of the Higgs scalar electrodynamics: The "Coulomb" and two confinement phases meet together at this critical point. Considering the arguments for the one-loop approximation validity in the region of parameters around the triple point A we have obtained the following triple point values of the running couplings: $(λ_{(A)}, g^2_{(A)})\approx(-13.4; 18.6)$, which are independent of the electric charge influence and two--loop corrections to $g^2_{run}$ with high accuracy of deviations. At the triple point the mass of monopoles is equal to zero. The corresponding critical value of the electric fine structure constant turns out to be $α_{crit} = π/g^2_{(A)}\approx{0.17}$ by the Dirac relation. This value is close to the $α_{crit}^{lat}\approx{0.20\pm 0.015}$, which in a U(1) lattice gauge theory corresponds to the phase transition between the "Coulomb" and confinement phases. In our theory for $α\ge α_{crit}$ there are two phases for the confinement of the electrically charged particles. The results of the present paper are very encouraging for the Anti--grand unification theory which was developed previously as a realistic alternative to SUSY GUTs. The paper is also devoted to the discussion of this problem.

SUSY a consequence of smoothness?

The consequences of certain simple assumptions like smoothness of ground state properties and vanishing of the vacuum energy (at least perturbatively) are explored. It would be interesting from the point of view of building realistic theories to obtain these properties without supersymmetry. Here we show, however, at least in some quantum mechanical models, that these simple assumptions lead to supersymmetric theories.

Neutrino mass matrix suppression by Abelian charges with see-saw mechanism

We have investigated a neutrino mass matrix model without supersymmetry including three see-saw right-handed neutrinos around order $10^{12}$ GeV masses, aiming at a picture with all small numbers explained as being due to approximately conserved gauge charges. The prediction of the solar neutrino mixing angle is given by $\sin^22θ_{\odot}= 3 {+3\atop -2}\times10^{-2}$; in fact, the solar mixing angle is, apart from detailed order unity corrections, equal to the Cabibbo angle. Furthermore the ratio of the solar neutrino mass square difference to that for the atmospheric neutrino oscillation is predicted to $6 {+11\atop -4}\times10^{-4}$ and is given by the same Cabibbo angle related parameter $ξ$ as $6 ξ^4$.

On sphaleron deformations induced by Yukawa interactions

Due to the presence of the chiral anomaly sphalerons with Chern-Simons number a half (CS=1/2) are the only static configurations that allow for a fermion level crossing in the two-dimensional Abelian-Higgs model with massless fermions, i.e. in the absence of Yukawa interactions. In the presence of fermion-Higgs interactions we demonstrate the existence of zero energy solutions to the one-dimensional Dirac equation at deformed sphalerons with CS$\neq 1/2 .$ Induced level crossing due to Yukawa interactions illustrates a non-trivial generalization of the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer index theorem and of the equivalence between parity anomaly in odd and the chiral anomaly in even dimensions. We discuss a subtle manifestation of this effect in the standard electroweak theory at finite temperatures.
