Complete latticeability in vector-valued sequence spaces

First we adjust a technique due to Jiménez-Rodríguez to prove the complete latticeability of the set of disjoint non-norm null weakly null sequences and of the set of disjoint non-norm null regular-polynomially null sequences in Banach lattices. Then we apply the mother vector technique to prove the complete latticeability of $λ_π(E) \setminus λ_s(E)$, which implies the complete latticeability of $(\ell_p\widehat{\otimes}_{|π|}E)\setminus(\ell_p\widehat{\otimes}_πE)$, where $E$ is a Banach lattice and $1 < p < \infty$.

On the representation of linear functionals on hyper-ideals of multilinear operators

A standard technique in infinite dimensional holomorphy, which produced several useful results, uses the Borel transform to represent linear functionals on certain spaces of multilinear operators between Banach spaces as multilinear operators. In this paper we develop a technique to represent linear functionals, as linear operators, on spaces of multilinear operators that are beyond the scope of the standard technique. Concrete applications to some well studied classes of multilinear operators, including the class of compact multilinear operators, and to one new class are provided. We can see, in particular, that sometimes our representations hold under conditions less restrictive than those of the related classical ones.

Summing multilinear operators by blocks: the isotropic and anisotropic cases

Unifying several directions of the development of the study of summing multilinear operators between Banach spaces, we construct a general framework that studies, under one single definition, multilinear operators that are summing with respect to sums taken over any number of indices, iterated and non-iterated sums (the isotropic and the anisotropic cases), sums over arbitrary blocks and over several different sequence norms. A large number of special classes of multilinear operators and of methods of generating classes of multilinear operators are recovered as particular instances. Ideal properties and coincidence theorems for the general classes are proved.

The positive polynomial Schur property in Banach lattices

We study the class of Banach lattices that are positively polynomially Schur. Plenty of examples and counterexamples are provided, lattice properties of this class are proved, arbitrary $L_p(μ)$-spaces are shown to be positively polynomially Schur, lattice analogues of results on Banach spaces are obtained and relationships with the positive Schur and the weak Dunford-Pettis properties are established.

The positive Schur property on positive projective tensor products and spaces of regular multilinear operators

We characterize the positive Schur property in the positive projective tensor products of Banach lattices, we establish the connection with the weak operator topology and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the space of regular multilinear operators/homogeneous polynomials taking values in a Dedekind complete Banach lattice to have the positive Schur property.

Polynomial ideals from a nonlinear viewpoint

Classes of homogeneous polynomials between Banach spaces have been studied in the last three decades from the perspective of the so-called ideal property: if a polynomial P belongs to a class Q, then the composition u o P o v of P with linear operators u and v belongs to Q as well. In an attempt to explore the nonlinearity of the subject in a more consistent way, and taking into account recent results in the field, in this paper we propose the study of classes of homogeneous polynomials that are stable under the composition with homogeneous polynomials. Some importante classes justify the study of the intermediate concept of classes of polynomials Q such that if P belongs to Q, u is a linear operator and Q is a homogeneous polynomial, then u o P o Q belongs to Q.

Constructing hyper-ideals of multilinear operators between Banach spaces

In view of the fact that some classical methods to construct multi-ideals fail in constructing hyper-ideals, in this paper we develop two new methods to construct hyper-ideals of multilinear operators between Banach spaces. These methods generate new classes of multilinear operators and show that some important well studied classes are Banach or p-Banach hyper-ideals.

Hyper-ideals of multilinear operators

We introduce and develop the notion of hyper-ideals of multilinear operators between Banach spaces. While the well studied notion of ideals of multilinear operators (multi-ideals) relies on the composition with linear operators, the notion we propose, by considering the composition with multilinear operators, explores more deeply the nonlinear feature of the subject. The results we prove show that, although more restrictive a priori, hyper-ideals enjoy nice general properties and its theory is rich enough to provide distinguished examples in every situation where the corresponding multi-ideal fails to be a hyper-ideal.

Type and cotype of multilinear operators

The aim of this paper is to start the study of multilinear generalizations of the classical ideals of linear operators of type $p$ and cotype $q$. As a first step in a theory we believe will be long and fruitful, we propose a notion of type and cotype of multilinear operators and the resulting classes of such mappings are studied in the setting of the theory of Banach/quasi-Banach ideals of multilinear operators. Distinctions between the linear and the multilinear theories are pointed out, typical multilinear features of the theory are emphasized and many illustrative examples are provided. The classes we introduce are related to the multi-ideals generated by the linear ideals of operators of some type/cotype and are proved to be maximal and Aron-Berner stable.

Coincidence results for summing multilinear mappings

In this paper we prove coincidence results concerning spaces of absolutely summing multilinear mappings between Banach spaces. The nature of these results arises from two distinct approaches: the coincidence of two \textit{a priori} different classes of summing multilinear mappings and the summability of all multilinear mappings defined on products of Banach spaces. Optimal generalizations of known results are obtained. We also introduce and explore new techniques in the field, for example a technique to extend coincidence results for linear, bilinear and even trilinear mappings to general multilinear ones.

A general abstract approach to approximation properties in Banach spaces

We propose a unifying approach to many approximation properties studied in the literature from the 1930s up to our days. To do so, we say that a Banach space E has the (I,J,τ)-approximation property if E-valued operators belonging to the operator ideal I can be approximated, with respect to the topology τ, by operators belonging to the operator ideal J. Restricting τ to a class of linear topologies, which we call ideal topologies, this concept recovers many classical/recent approximation properties as particular instances and several important known results are particular cases of more general results that are valid in this abstract framework.

On Pietsch measures for summing operators and dominated polynomials

We relate the injectivity of the canonical map from $C(B_{E'})$ to $L_p(μ)$, where $μ$ is a regular Borel probability measure on the closed unit ball $B_{E'}$ of the dual $E'$ of a Banach space $E$ endowed with the weak* topology, to the existence of injective $p$-summing linear operators/$p$-dominated homogeneous polynomials defined on $E$ having $μ$ as a Pietsch measure. As an application we fill the gap in the proofs of some results of concerning Pietsch-type factorization of dominated polynomials.

Lineability and spaceability for the weak form of Peano's theorem and vector-valued sequence spaces

Two new applications of a technique for spaceability are given in this paper. For the first time this technique is used in the investigation of the algebraic genericity property of the weak form of Peano's theorem on the existence of solutions of the ODE $u'=f(u)$ on $c_0$. The space of all continuous vector fields $f$ on $c_0$ is proved to contain a closed $\mathfrak{c}$-dimensional subspace formed by fields $f$ for which -- except for the null field -- the weak form of Peano's theorem fails to be true. The second application generalizes known results on the existence of closed $\mathfrak{c}$-dimensional subspaces inside certain subsets of $\ell_p(X)$-spaces, $0 < p < \infty$, to the existence of closed subspaces of maximal dimension inside such subsets.

Approximation properties determined by operator ideals

Given an operator ideal I, a Banach space E has the I-approximation property if operators on E can be uniformly approximated on compact subsets of E by operators belonging to I. In this paper the I- approximation property is studied in projective tensor products, spaces of linear functionals, spaces of homogeneous polynomials (in particular, spaces of linear operators), spaces of holomorphic functions and their preduals.

Absolutely summing linear operators into spaces with no finite cotype

Given an infinite-dimensional Banach space $X$ and a Banach space $Y$ with no finite cotype, we determine whether or not every continuous linear operator from $X$ to $Y$ is absolutely $(q;p)$-summing for almost all choices of $p$ and $q$, including the case $p=q$. If $X$ assumes its cotype, the problem is solved for all choices of $p$ and $q$. Applications to the theory of dominated multilinear mappings are also provided.
