Excitations of photon-number states in Kerr nonlinear resonator at finite temperatures

We investigate temperature reservoir effects in a lossy Kerr nonlinear resonator considering selective excitation of ooscillatory mode driven by a sequence of Gaussian pulses. In this way, we analyze time-dependent populations of photon-number states and quantum statistics on the base of second-order photon correlation function in one-photon and two-photon transitions. The effects coming from thermal reservoirs are interesting for performing more realistic approach to generate Fock states and for study phenomena connecting quantum engineering and temperature. We also study the role of pulse-shaping effects during selective excitation.

Phase-locking at low-level of quanta

We discuss phase-locking phenomena at low-level of quanta for parametrically driven nonlinear Kerr resonator (PDNR) in strong quantum regime. Oscillatory mode of PDNR is created in the process of a degenerate down-conversion of photons under interaction with a train of external Gaussian pulses. We calculate the Wigner functions of cavity mode showing two-fold symmetry in phase space and analyse formation of phase-locked states in the regular as well as the quantum chaotic regime.

Chaos due to parametric excitation: phase space symmetry and photon correlations

We discuss dissipative chaos showing symmetries in the phase space and nonclassical statistics for a parametrically driven nonlinear Kerr resonator (PDNR). In this system an oscillatory mode is created in the process of degenerate down-conversion of photons under interaction with a train of external Gaussian pulses. For chaotic regime we demonstrate, that the Poincaré section showing a strange attractor, as well as the resonator mode contour plots of the Wigner functions display two-fold symmetry in the phase space. We show that quantum-to-classical correspondence is strongly violated for some chaotic regimes of the PDNR. Considering the second-order correlation function we show that the high-level of photons correlation leading to squeezing in the regular regime strongly decreases if the system transits to the chaotic regime. Thus, observation of the photon-number correlation allows to extract information about the chaotic regime.

Multiphoton blockades in pulsed regimes beyond the stationary limits

We demonstrate multiphoton blockades (PB) in the pulsed regime by using Kerr nonlinear dissipative resonator driven by a sequence of Gaussian pulses. It is shown that the results obtained for single-photon, two-photon and three-photon blockades in the pulsed excitation regime differ considerably from analogous results obtained for the case of continuous-wave (cw) driving. We strongly demonstrate that for the case of cw pumping of the Kerr-nonlinear resonator there are fundamental limits on populations of lower photonic number-states (with n = 0, 1, 2, 3). Thus, such detailed comparison demonstrates that PB due to excitation with a suitable photon pulses is realized beyond the fundamental limits established for cw excitations. We analyze photon-number effects and investigate phase-space properties of PB on the base of photon number populations, the second-order correlation functions and the Wigner functions in phase space. Generation of Fock states due to PB in the pulsed regime is analysed in details.
