From interacting agents to Boltzmann-Gibbs distribution of money

We investigate the unbiased model for money exchanges: agents give at random time a dollar to one another (if they have one). Surprisingly, this dynamics eventually leads to a geometric distribution of wealth (shown empirically by Dragulescu and Yakovenko in [11] and rigorously in [2,12,15,18]). We prove a uniform-in-time propagation of chaos result as the number of agents goes to infinity, which links the stochastic dynamics to a deterministic infinite system of ordinary differential equations. This deterministic description is then analyzed by taking advantage of several entropy-entropy dissipation inequalities and we provide a quantitative almost-exponential rate of convergence toward the equilibrium (geometric distribution) in relative entropy.

From the binomial reshuffling model to Poisson distribution of money

We present a novel reshuffling exchange model and investigate its long time behavior. In this model, two individuals are picked randomly, and their wealth $X_i$ and $X_j$ are redistributed by flipping a sequence of fair coins leading to a binomial distribution denoted $B \circ (X_i+X_j)$. This dynamics can be considered as a natural variant of the so-called uniform reshuffling model in econophysics [2,14]. As the number of individuals goes to infinity, we derive its mean-field limit, which links the stochastic dynamics to a deterministic infinite system of ordinary differential equations. The main result of this work is then to prove (using a coupling argument) that the distribution of wealth converges to the Poisson distribution in the $2$-Wasserstein metric. Numerical simulations illustrate the main result and suggest that the polynomial convergence decay might be further improved.

Uncovering a two-phase dynamics from a dollar exchange model with bank and debt

We investigate the unbiased model for money exchanges with collective debt limit: agents give at random time a dollar to one another as long as they have at least one dollar or they can borrow a dollar from a central bank if the bank is not empty. Surprisingly, this dynamics eventually leads to an asymmetric Laplace distribution of wealth (conjectured in [22] and shown formally in a recent work [18]). In this manuscript, we carry out a formal mean-field limit as the number of agents goes to infinity where we uncover a two-phase (ODE) dynamics. Convergence towards the unique equilibrium (two-sided geometric) distribution in the large time limit is also shown and the role played by the bank and debt (in terms of Gini index or wealth inequality) will be explored numerically as well.

Binocular parallax stereo imaging based on correlation matching algorithm

The intensity fluctuation correlation of pseudo-thermal light can be utilized to realize binocular parallax stereo imaging (BPSI). With the help of correlation matching algorithm, the matching precision of feature points can reach one pixel authentically. The implementations of the proposed BPSI system with real objects were demonstrated in detail. And the experimental results indicated that the proposed system performs better when the object's superficial characteristics are not obvious, for example its surface reflectivity is constant.

Experimental realization of large-alphabet quantum key distribution protocol using orbital angular momentum entanglement

We experimentally demonstrate a quantum key distribution (QKD) protocol using photon pairs entangled in orbit angular momentum (OAM). In our protocol, Alice and Bob modulate their OAM states on each entangled pair with spatial light modulators (SLMs), respectively. Alice uses a fixed phase hologram in her SLM, while Bob designs $N$ different suitable phase holograms and uses them to represent his $N$-based information in his SLM. With coincidences, Alice can fully retrieve the key stream sent by Bob without information reconciliation or privacy amplification. We report the experiment results with N=3 and the sector states with OAM eigenmodes l=1 and l=-1. Our experiment shows that the coincidence rates are in relatively distinct value regions for the three different key elements. Alice could recover fully Bob's keys by the protocol. Finally, we discuss the security of the protocol both form the light way and against the general attacks.
