Localization of zeros in Cauchy-de Branges spaces

We study the class of discrete measures in the complex plain with the following property: up to a finite number, all zeros of any Cauchy transform of the measure (with $\ell^2$-data) are localized near the support of the measure. We find several equivalent forms of this property and prove that the parts of the support attracting zeros of Cauchy transforms are ordered by inclusion modulo finite sets.

Frequently dense harmonic functions and universal martingales on trees

We prove the existence of harmonic functions $f$ on trees, with respect to suitable transient transition operators $P$, that satisfy an analogue of Menshov universal property in the following sense: $f$ is the Poisson transform of a martingale on the boundary of the tree (equipped with the harmonic measure $m$ induced by $P$) such that, for every measurable function $h$ on the boundary, it contains a subsequence that converges to $h$ in measure. Moreover, the martingale visits every open set of measurable functions with positive lower density.

Chui's conjecture in Bergman spaces

We solve Chui's conjecture on the simplest fractions (i.e., sums of Cauchy kernels with unit coefficients) in weighted (Hilbert) Bergman spaces. Namely, for a wide class of weights, we prove that for every $N$, the simplest fractions with $N$ poles on the unit circle have minimal norm if and only if the poles are equispaced on the circle. We find sharp asymptotics of these norms. Furthermore, we describe the closure of the simplest fractions in weighted Bergman spaces, using an $L^2$ version of Thompson's theorem on dominated approximation by simplest fractions.

Localization of zeros for Cauchy transforms

We study the localization of zeros of Cauchy transforms of discrete measures on the real line. This question is motivated by the theory of canonical systems of differential equations. In particular, we prove that the spaces of Cauchy transforms having the localization property are in one-to-one correspondence with the canonical systems of special type, namely, those whose Hamiltonians consist only of indivisible intervals accumulating on the left. Various aspects of the localization phenomena are studied in details. Connections with the density of polynomials and other topics in analysis are discussed.

Cyclicity in rank-one perturbation problems

The property of cyclicity of a linear operator, or equivalently the property of simplicity of its spectrum, is an important spectral characteristic that appears in many problems of functional analysis and applications to mathematical physics. In this paper we study cyclicity in the context of rank-one perturbation problems for self-adjoint and unitary operators. We show that for a fixed non-zero vector the property of being a cyclic vector is not rare, in the sense that for any family of rank-one perturbations of self-adjoint or unitary operators acting on the space, that vector will be cyclic for every operator from the family, with a possible exception of a small set with respect to the parameter. We discuss applications of our results to Anderson-type Hamiltonians.
