Perturbations of polynomials and applications

After reconsidering the theorem of continuity of the roots of a polynomial in terms of its coefficients in the deformation framework, we study the stability of the greater common divisor of two polynomials compared to perturbations on their roots. We apply this results to the study of deformations of a linear operator in finite dimension and in particular to the roots study of deformed matrices.

Breadth and characteristic sequence of nilpotent Lie algebras

The notion of breadth of a nilpotent Lie algebra was introduced by B. Khuhirun, K.C. Misra and E. Stitzinger and used to approach problems of classification up to isomorphism. In the present paper, we study this invariant in terms of characteristic sequence, another invariant introduced by M. Goze and J.M. Ancochea-Bermudez. This permits to complete the determination of Lie algebras of breadth 2 and to begin the work for Lie algebras with breadth greater than 2.

Symplectic structures on 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras

We study symplectic structures on nilpotent Lie algebras. Since the classification of nilpotent Lie algebras in any dimension seems to be a crazy dream, we approach this study in case of 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras (in this sub-case also, the classification fo the dimension greater than 8 seems very difficult), using not a classification but a description of subfamilies associated with the characteristic sequence. We begin with the dimension $8$, first step where the classification becomes difficult.

Pseudo-Riemannian Symmetries on Heisenberg groups

The notion of $Γ$-symmetric space is a natural generalization of the classical notion of symmetric space based on $\Z_2$-grading of Lie algebras. In our case, we consider homogeneous spaces $G/H$ such that the Lie algebra $\g$ of $G$ admits a $Γ$-grading where $Γ$ is a finite abelian group. In this work we study Riemannian metrics and Lorentzian metrics on the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}_3$ adapted to the symmetries of a $Γ$-symmetric structure on $\mathbb{H}_3$. We prove that the classification of $\z$-symmetric Riemannian and Lorentzian metrics on $\mathbb{H}_3$ corresponds to the classification of left-invariant Riemannian and Lorentzian metrics, up to isometry. We study also the $\Z_2^k$-symmetric structures on $G/H$ when $G$ is the $(2p+1)$-dimensional Heisenberg group for $k \geq 1$. This gives examples of non riemannian symmetric spaces. When $k \geq 1$, we show that there exists a family of flat and torsion free affine connections adapted to the $\Z_2^k$-symmetric structures.

Cartan class of Invariant forms on Lie groups

We are interested in the class, in the Elie Cartan sense, of left invariant forms on a Lie group. We construct the class of Lie algebras provided with a contact form and classify the frobeniusian Lie algebras up to a contraction. We also study forms which are invariant by a subgroup. We show that the simple group SL(2n,R) which doesn't admit left invariant contact form, yet admits a contact form which is invariant by a maximal compact subgroup. We determine also Pfaffian forms on the Heisenberg $3$-dimensional group invariant by a subgroup and obtain the Transport Equation.

Lie algebras with associative structures. Applications to the study of 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras

We investigate Lie algebras whose Lie bracket is also an associative or cubic associative multiplication to characterize the class of nilpotent Lie algebras with a nilindex equal to 2 or 3. In particular we study the class of 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras, their deformations and we compute the cohomology which parametrize the deformations in this class.

Riemannian symmetries in flag manifolds

Flag manifolds are in general not symmetric spaces. But they are provided with a structure of $\mathbb{Z}_2^k$-symmetric space. We describe the Riemannian metrics adapted to this structure and some properties of reducibility. We detail for the flag manifold $SO(5)/SO(2)\times SO(2) \times SO(1)$ what are the conditions for a metric adapted to the $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-symmetric structure to be naturally reductive.

(Non-)Koszulness of operads for n-ary algebras, galgalim and other curiosities

We investigate operads for various n-ary algebras. As a useful tool we introduce galgalim - analogs of the Lie-hedra for n-ary algebras. We then focus to algebras with one anti-associative operation. We describe the relevant part of the deformation cohomology for this type of algebras using the minimal model for the anti-associative operad. We also discuss free partially associative algebras and formulate some open problems.

A new algebraic and arithmetic framework for interval computations

In this paper we propose some very promissing results in interval arithmetics which permit to build well-defined arithmetics including distributivity of multiplication and division according addition and substraction. Thus, it allows to build all algebraic operations and functions on intervals. This will avoid completely the wrapping effects and data dependance. Some simple applications for matrix eigenvalues calculations, inversion of symmetric matrices and finally optimization are exhibited in the object-oriented programming language python.

Operads for n-ary algebras - calculations and conjectures

In our earlier work we studied Koszulity of a family of operads depending on a natural number n and on the degree d of the generating operation. While we proved that, for n < 8, this operad is Koszul if and only if d is even, and while it follows from a work of Hoffbeck that it is Koszul for d even and arbitrary n, its (non)Koszulity for d odd and n > 7 remains an open problem. In this note, we describe some related numerical experiments, and formulate a conjecture suggested by the results of these computations.
