A Primer on Coorbit Theory -- From Basics to Recent Developments

Coorbit theory is a powerful machinery that constructs a family of Banach spaces, the so-called coorbit spaces, from well-behaved unitary representations of locally compact groups. A core feature of coorbit spaces is that they can be discretized in a way that reflects the geometry of the underlying locally compact group. Many established function spaces such as modulation spaces, Besov spaces, Sobolev-Shubin spaces, and shearlet spaces are examples of coorbit spaces. The goal of this survey is to give an overview of coorbit theory with the aim of presenting the main ideas in an accessible manner. Coorbit theory is generally seen as a complicated theory, filled with both technicalities and conceptual difficulties. Faced with this obstacle, we feel obliged to convince the reader of the theory's elegance. As such, this survey is a showcase of coorbit theory and should be treated as a stepping stone to more complete sources.

Affine Quantum Harmonic Analysis

We develop a quantum harmonic analysis framework for the affine group. This encapsulates several examples in the literature such as affine localization operators, covariant integral quantizations, and affine quadratic time-frequency representations. In the process, we develop a notion of admissibility for operators and extend well known results to the operator setting. A major theme of the paper is the interaction between operator convolutions, affine Weyl quantization, and admissibility.

Interpolation in Wavelet Spaces and the HRT-Conjecture

We investigate the wavelet spaces $\mathcal{W}_{g}(\mathcal{H}_π)\subset L^{2}(G)$ arising from square integrable representations $π:G \to \mathcal{U}(\mathcal{H}_π)$ of a locally compact group $G$. We show that the wavelet spaces are rigid in the sense that non-trivial intersection between them imposes strong conditions. Moreover, we use this to derive consequences for wavelet transforms related to convexity and functions of positive type. Motivated by the reproducing kernel Hilbert space structure of wavelet spaces we examine an interpolation problem. In the setting of time-frequency analysis, this problem turns out to be equivalent to the HRT-Conjecture. Finally, we consider the problem of whether all the wavelet spaces $\mathcal{W}_{g}(\mathcal{H}_π)$ of a locally compact group $G$ collectively exhaust the ambient space $L^{2}(G)$. We show that the answer is affirmative for compact groups, while negative for the reduced Heisenberg group.
