Extended systems of Baxter Q-functions and fused flags I: simply-laced case

The spectrum of integrable models is often encoded in terms of commuting functions of a spectral parameter that satisfy functional relations. We propose to describe this commutative algebra in a covariant way by means of the extended Q-system that comprise Q-vectors in each of the fundamental representations of the (Langlands dual of) the underlying symmetry algebra. These Q-vectors turn out to parameterise a collection of complete flags which are fused with one another in a particular way. We show that the fused flag is a finite-difference oper in a particular gauge, explicit identification depends on a choice of a Coxeter element. The paper considers the case of simple Lie algebras with a simply-laced Dynkin diagram. For the $A_r$ series, the construction coincides with already known results in the literature. We apply the proposed formalism to the case of the $D_r$ series and the exceptional algebras $E_r$, $r=6,7,8$. In particular, we solve Hirota bilinear equations in terms of Q-functions and give the explicit character solution of the extended Q-system in the $D_r$ case. We also show how to build up the extended Q-system of $D_r$ type starting either from vectors, by a procedure similar to the $A_r$ scenario which however constructs a fused flag of isotropic spaces, or from pure spinors, \via fused Fierz relations. Finally, for the case of rational, trigonometric, and elliptic spin chains, we propose an explicit ansatz for the analytic structure of Q-functions of the extended Q-system. We conjecture that the extended Q-system constrained in such a way is always in bijection with the Bethe algebra of commuting transfer matrices of these models and moreover can be used to show that the Bethe algebra has a simple joint spectrum.

Monodromy Bootstrap for SU(2|2) Quantum Spectral Curves: From Hubbard model to AdS3/CFT2

We propose a procedure to derive quantum spectral curves of AdS/CFT type by requiring that a specially designed analytic continuation around the branch point results in an automorphism of the underlying algebraic structure. In this way we derive four new curves. Two are based on SU(2|2) symmetry, and we show that one of them, under the assumption of square root branch points, describes Hubbard model. Two more are based on SU(2|2) x SU(2|2). In the special subcase of zero central charge, they both reduce to the unique nontrivial curve which furthermore has analytic properties compatible with PSU(1,1|2) x PSU(1,1|2) real form. A natural conjecture follows that this is the quantum spectral curve of AdS/CFT integrable system with AdS3 x S3 x T4 background supported by RR-flux. We support the conjecture by verifying its consistency with the massive sector of asymptotic Bethe equations in the large volume regime. For this spectral curve, it is compulsory that branch points are not of the square root type which qualitatively distinguishes it from the previously known cases.

Completeness of Wronskian Bethe equations for rational gl(m|n) spin chains

We consider rational integrable supersymmetric gl(m|n) spin chains in the defining representation and prove the isomorphism between a commutative algebra of conserved charges (the Bethe algebra) and a polynomial ring (the Wronskian algebra) defined by functional relations between Baxter Q-functions that we call Wronskian Bethe equations. These equations, in contrast to standard nested Bethe equations, admit only physical solutions for any value of inhomogeneities and furthermore we prove that the algebraic number of solutions to these equations is equal to the dimension of the spin chain Hilbert space (modulo relevant symmetries). Both twisted and twist-less periodic boundary conditions are considered, the isomorphism statement uses, as a sufficient condition, that the spin chain inhomogeneities $θ_\ell$, $\ell=1,\ldots,L$ satisfy $θ_\ell+\hbar\neqθ_{\ell'}$ for $\ell<\ell'$. Counting of solutions is done in two independent ways: by computing a character of the Wronskian algebra and by explicitly solving the Bethe equations in certain scaling regimes supplemented with a proof that the algebraic number of solutions is the same for any value of $θ_\ell$. In particular, we consider the regime $θ_{\ell+1}/θ_{\ell}\gg 1$ for the twist-less chain where we succeed to provide explicit solutions and their systematic labelling with standard Young tableaux.

Separated variables and wave functions for rational gl(N) spin chains in the companion twist frame

We propose a basis for rational gl(N) spin chains in an arbitrary rectangular representation $(S^A)$ that factorises the Bethe vectors into products of Slater determinants in Baxter Q-functions. This basis is constructed by repeated action of fused transfer matrices on a suitable reference state. We prove that it diagonalises the so-called B-operator, hence the operatorial roots of the latter are the separated variables. The spectrum of the separated variables is also explicitly computed and it turns out to be labelled by Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns. Our approach utilises a special choice of the spin chain twist which substantially simplifies derivations.

Quantum spectral curve as a tool for a perturbative quantum field theory

An iterative procedure perturbatively solving the quantum spectral curve of planar N=4 SYM for any operator in the sl(2) sector is presented. A Mathematica notebook executing this procedure is enclosed. The obtained results include 10-loop computations of the conformal dimensions of more than ten different operators. We prove that the conformal dimensions are always expressed, at any loop order, in terms of multiple zeta-values with coefficients from an algebraic number field determined by the one-loop Baxter equation. We observe that all the perturbative results that were computed explicitly are given in terms of a smaller algebra: single-valued multiple zeta-values times the algebraic numbers.

Quantum spectral curve for arbitrary state/operator in AdS$_5$/CFT$_4$

We give a derivation of quantum spectral curve (QSC) - a finite set of Riemann-Hilbert equations for exact spectrum of planar N=4 SYM theory proposed in our recent paper Phys.Rev.Lett. 112 (2014). We also generalize this construction to all local single trace operators of the theory, in contrast to the TBA-like approaches worked out only for a limited class of states. We reveal a rich algebraic and analytic structure of the QSC in terms of a so called Q-system -- a finite set of Baxter-like Q-functions. This new point of view on the finite size spectral problem is shown to be completely compatible, though in a far from trivial way, with already known exact equations (analytic Y-system/TBA, or FiNLIE). We use the knowledge of this underlying Q-system to demonstrate how the classical finite gap solutions and the asymptotic Bethe ansatz emerge from our formalism in appropriate limits.

Six-loop anomalous dimension of twist-two operators in planar N=4 SYM theory

We compute the general form of the six-loop anomalous dimension of twist-two operators with arbitrary spin in planar N=4 SYM theory. First we find the contribution from the asymptotic Bethe ansatz. Then we reconstruct the wrapping terms from the first 35 even spin values of the full six-loop anomalous dimension computed using the quantum spectral curve approach. The obtained anomalous dimension satisfies all known constraints coming from the BFKL equation, the generalised double-logarithmic equation, and the small spin expansion.

Multiple zeta functions and double wrapping in planar N=4 SYM

Using the FiNLIE solution of the AdS/CFT Y-system, we compute the anomalous dimension of the Konishi operator in planar N=4 SYM up to eight loops, i.e. up to the leading double wrapping order. At this order a non reducible Euler-Zagier sum, zeta(1,2,8), appears for the first time. We find that at all orders in perturbation, every spectral-dependent quantity of the Y-system is expressed through multiple Hurwitz zeta functions, hence we provide a Mathematica package to manipulate these functions, including the particular case of Euler-Zagier sums. Furthermore, we conjecture that only Euler-Zagier sums can appear in the answer for the anomalous dimension at any order in perturbation theory. We also resum the leading transcendentality terms of the anomalous dimension at all orders, obtaining a simple result in terms of Bessel functions. Finally, we demonstrate that exact Bethe equations should be related to an absence of poles condition that becomes especially nontrivial at double wrapping.

Solving the AdS/CFT Y-system

Using integrability and analyticity properties of the AdS5/CFT4 Y-system we reduce it to a finite set of nonlinear integral equations. The Z4 symmetry of the underlying coset sigma model, in its quantum version, allows for a deeper insight into the analyticity structure of the underlying Y-functions and T-functions, as well as for their analyticity friendly parameterization in terms of Wronskian determinants of Q-functions. As a check for the new equations, we reproduce the numerical results for the Konishi operator previously obtained from the original infinite Y-system.

Quantum folded string and integrability: from finite size effects to Konishi dimension

Using the algebraic curve approach we one-loop quantize the folded string solution for the type IIB superstring in AdS(5)xS(5). We obtain an explicit result valid for arbitrary values of its Lorentz spin S and R-charge J in terms of integrals of elliptic functions. Then we consider the limit S ~ J ~ 1 and derive the leading three coefficients of strong coupling expansion of short operators. Notably, our result evaluated for the anomalous dimension of the Konishi state gives 2λ^{1/4}-4+2/λ^{1/4}. This reproduces correctly the values predicted numerically in arXiv:0906.4240. Furthermore we compare our result using some new numerical data from the Y-system for another similar state. We also revisited some of the large S computations using our methods. In particular, we derive finite--size corrections to the anomalous dimension of operators with small J in this limit.

String hypothesis for gl(n|m) spin chains: a particle/hole democracy

This paper is devoted to integrable gl(n|m) spin chains which allow for formulation of the string hypothesis. Considering the thermodynamic limit of such spin chains, we derive linear functional equations that symmetricaly treat holes and particles. The functional equations naturally organize different types of excitations into a pattern equivalent to the one of Y-system, and, not surprisingly, the Y-system can be easily derived from the functional equations. The Y-system is known to contain most of the information about the symmetry of the model, therefore we map the symmetry knowledge directly to the description of string excitations. Our analysis is applicable for highest weight representations which for some choice of the Kac-Dynkin diagram have only one nonzero Dynkin label. This generalizes known results for the AdS/CFT spectral problem and for the Hubbard model.

Quantum integrability and functional equations

In this thesis a general procedure to represent the integral Bethe Ansatz equations in the form of the Reimann-Hilbert problem is given. This allows us to study in simple way integrable spin chains in the thermodynamic limit. Based on the functional equations we give the procedure that allows finding the subleading orders in the solution of various integral equations solved to the leading order by the Wiener-Hopf technics. The integral equations are studied in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence, where their solution allows verification of the integrability conjecture up to two loops of the strong coupling expansion. In the context of the two-dimensional sigma models we analyze the large-order behavior of the asymptotic perturbative expansion. Obtained experience with the functional representation of the integral equations allowed us also to solve explicitly the crossing equations that appear in the AdS/CFT spectral problem.
