Azimuthal asymmetries in $J/ψ$-photon production at the EIC

We calculate azimuthal asymmetries in back-to-back production of $J/ψ$ and a photon in electron-proton scattering process at the future electron-ion collider (EIC) using TMD factorization framework. We consider the cases where the proton is unpolarized or transversely polarized. For the formation of $J/ψ$, non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) is used. We find that the cross-section gets contribution from only one color octet state, as a result, the azimuthal modulations become independent of the long-distance matrix elements (LDMEs), and thus can be used to probe, in particular the gluon TMDs which are dominant in this kinematics. We show estimates of the upper bounds of different azimuthal asymmetries using the positivity bounds on TMDs. In addition, we show estimate of asymmetries using the Gaussian parametrization of the TMDs.

Conditional Normalizing flow for Monte Carlo sampling in lattice scalar field theory

The cost of Monte Carlo sampling of lattice configurations is very high in the critical region of lattice field theory due to the high correlation between the samples. This paper suggests a Conditional Normalizing Flow (C-NF) model for sampling lattice configurations in the critical region to solve the problem of critical slowing down. We train the C-NF model using samples generated by Hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) in non-critical regions with low simulation costs. The trained C-NF model is employed in the critical region to build a Markov chain of lattice samples with negligible autocorrelation. The C-NF model is used for both interpolation and extrapolation to the critical region of lattice theory. Our proposed method is assessed using the 1+1-dimensional scalar $ϕ^4$ theory. This approach enables the construction of lattice ensembles for many parameter values in the critical region, which reduces simulation costs by avoiding the critical slowing down.

Critical Coupling for Two-dimensional $ϕ^4$ Theory in Discretized Light-Cone Quantization

We solve for the critical coupling in the symmetric phase of two-dimensional $ϕ^4$ field theory using Discretized Light-Cone Quantization. We adopt periodic boundary conditions, neglect the zero mode, and obtain a critical coupling consistent with the critical coupling reported using conformal truncation in light-front quantization. We find a 17% dfference from the critical coupling reported with light-front quantization in a symmetric polynomial basis.

Gravitational Form Factors and Mechanical Properties of the Proton : Connection Between Distributions in 2D and 3D

The gravitational form factors which are obtained from the matrix elements of the energy-momentum tensor provide us information about internal distributions of mass, energy, pressure and shear. The Druck term is the least understood among all the gravitational form factors. In a light front quark-diquark model of proton, we investigate the Druck form factor. Using Abel transformation, we evaluate the 3D distribution in the Breit frame from the 2D light front distributions. The results are compared with other models and lattice predictions.

Sivers and Boer-Mulders TMDs of proton in a light-front quark-diquark model

We obtain the leading twist T-odd quark transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs) of the proton, namely the Sivers function, $f_{1T}^{\perp q}(x,p_\perp^2)$, and the Boer-Mulders function, $h_1^{\perp q}(x,p_\perp^2)$, in a light-front quark-diquark model constructed with the wave functions predicted by the soft-wall AdS/QCD. The gluon rescattering is crucial to predict a nonzero T-odd TMDs. We study the utility of a nonperturbative $SU(3)$ gluon rescattering kernel going beyond the usual approximation of perturbative $U(1)$ gluons. The spin asymmetries in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) associated with these T-odd TMDs are found to be consistent with HERMES and COMPASS data. We also evaluate the generalized Sivers and Boer-Mulders shifts and compare them with the available lattice QCD simulations.

Proton structure from a light-front Hamiltonian

We obtain the electromagnetic form factors, the axial form factor, and the parton distribution functions of the proton from the eigenstates of a light-front effective Hamiltonian in the leading Fock representation suitable for low-momentum scale applications. The electromagnetic and the axial form factors are found to be in agreement with the available experimental data. The unpolarized, the helicity, and the transversity valence quark distributions, after QCD evolution, are consistent with the global QCD analyses. The tensor charge also agree the experimental data, while the axial charge is somewhat outside the experimental error bar.

A light front quark-diquark model for the nucleons

We present a quark-diquark model for the nucleons where the light front wave functions are constructed from the soft-wall AdS/QCD prediction. The model is consistent with quark counting rule and Drell-Yan-West relation. The model reproduces the scale evolution of unpolarized PDF of proton for a wide range of energy scale. Helicity and transversity distributions for the proton predicted in this model agree with phenomenological fits. The axial and tensor charges are also shown to agree with the experimental data. The model can be used to evaluate distributions like GPDS, TMDs etc. and their scale evolutions.

Nucleon to $Δ$ transition form factors and empirical transverse charge densities

We investigate the nucleon to $Δ$ transition form factors in a soft-wall AdS/QCD model and a light-front quark-diquark model inspired by AdS/QCD. From the transition form factors we evaluate the transition charge densities which influences the nucleon to $Δ$ excitation. Here we consider both the unpolarized and the transversely polarized cases. The AdS/QCD predictions are compared with available experimental data and with the results of the global parameterization, MAID2007.

Chiral-odd generalized parton distributions for proton in a light-front quark-diquark model

We present a study of the chiral-odd generalized parton distributions for $u$ and $d$ quarks in a proton using the light front wave functions of the scalar quark-diquark model for nucleon constructed from the soft-wall AdS/QCD correspondence. We obtain the GPDs in terms of overlaps of the LFWFs. Numerical results for chiral-odd GPDs in momentum as well as transverse position spaces considering both zero and nonzero skewness($ζ$) are presented. For nonzero skewness, the GPDs are also evaluated in longitudinal position space.

Generalized parton distributions and transverse densities in a light-front quark-diquark model for the nucleons

We present a study of the generalized parton distributions for the quarks in a proton in both momentum and position spaces using the light-front wave functions of a quark-diquark model for the nucleon predicted by the soft-wall model of AdS/QCD. The results are compared with the soft-wall AdS/QCD model of proton GPDs for zero skewness. We also calculate the GPDs for nonzero skewness. We observe that the GPDs have a diffraction pattern in longitudinal position space, as seen before in other models. Then we present a comparitive study of the nucleon charge and anomalous magnetization densities in the transverse plane. Flavor decompositions of the form factors and transverse densities are also discussed.

Gravitational form factors and transverse spin sum rule in a light front quark-diquark model in AdS/QCD

The gravitational form factors are related to the matrix elements of the energy-momentum tensor $T^{μν}$. Using the light front wave functions of the scalar quark-diquark model for nucleon predicted by the soft-wall AdS/QCD, we calculate the flavor dependent $A(Q^2)$, $B(Q^2)$ and $\bar{C}(Q^2)$ form factors. We also present all the matrix element of the energy-momentum tensor in a transversely polarized state. Further, we evaluate the matrix element of Pauli-Lubanski operator in this model and show that the intrinsic spin sum rule involves the form factor $\bar{C}$. The longitudinal momentum densities in the transverse impact parameter space are also discussed for both unpolarized and transversely polarized nucleons.

Transverse charge and magnetization densities in holographic QCD

We present a study of flavor structures of transverse charge and anomalous magnetization densities for both unpolarized and transversely polarized nucleons. We consider two different models for the electromagnetic form factors in holographic QCD. The flavor form factors are obtained by decomposing the Dirac and Pauli form factors for nucleons using the charge and isospin symmetry. The results are compared with two standard phenomenological parametrizations.

Nucleon and flavor form factors in a light front quark model in AdS/QCD

Using the light front wave functions for the nucleons in a quark model in AdS/QCD, we calculate the nucleon electromagnetic form factors. The flavor decompositions of the nucleon form factors are calculated from the GPDs in this model. We show that the nucleon form factors and their flavor decompositions calculated in AdS/QCD are in agreement with experimental data.

Series solution of a central potential problem with three-term recursion relation

The series solution of the radial part of the Schrödinger equation for simultaneous coulomb and harmonic potential involves three-term recursion relation and is thus difficult to solve for bound states. We have suggested a simple method to solve for low lying states. Finite polynomial solutions exist only if the coulomb and oscillator potentials are nontrivially related.

Topological Aspects of Fermions on a Honeycomb Lattice

We formulate a model of relativistic fermions moving in two Euclidean dimensions based on a tight-binding model of graphene. The eigenvalue spectrum of the resulting Dirac operator is solved numerically in smooth U(1) gauge field backgrounds carrying an integer-valued topological charge Q, and it is demonstrated that the resulting number of zero-eigenvalue modes is in accord with the Atiyah-Singer index theorem applied to two continuum flavors. A bilinear but gauge non-invariant chirality operator appropriate for distinguishing the topological zero modes is identified. When this operator is used to calculate Q, it is found that the maximum topological charge capable of being measured in this fashion scales with the perimeter of the lattice. Some concluding remarks compare these results to what is known for staggered lattice fermions.

Mesons in Light-Front QCD$_{2+1}$: Investigation of a Bloch Effective Hamiltonian

We study the meson sector of 2+1 dimensional light-front QCD using a Bloch effective Hamiltonian in the first non-trivial order. The resulting two dimensional integral equation is converted into a matrix equation and solved numerically. We investigate the efficiency of Gaussian quadrature in achieving the cancellation of linear and logarithmic light-front infrared divergences. The vanishing energy denominator problem which leads to severe infrared divergences in 2+1 dimensions is investigated in detail. Our study indicates that in the context of Fock space based effective Hamiltonian methods to tackle gauge theories in 2+1 dimensions, approaches like similarity renormalization method may be mandatory due to uncanceled infrared divergences caused by the vanishing energy denominator problem. We define and study numerically a reduced model which is relativistic, free from infrared divergences, and exhibits logarithmic confinement. The manifestation and violation of rotational symmetry as a function of the coupling are studied quantitatively.
