Transfer Learning Across Fixed-Income Product Classes

We propose a framework for transfer learning of discount curves across different fixed-income product classes. Motivated by challenges in estimating discount curves from sparse or noisy data, we extend kernel ridge regression (KR) to a vector-valued setting, formulating a convex optimization problem in a vector-valued reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS). Each component of the solution corresponds to the discount curve implied by a specific product class. We introduce an additional regularization term motivated by economic principles, promoting smoothness of spread curves between product classes, and show that it leads to a valid separable kernel structure. A main theoretical contribution is a decomposition of the vector-valued RKHS norm induced by separable kernels. We further provide a Gaussian process interpretation of vector-valued KR, enabling quantification of estimation uncertainty. Illustrative examples show how transfer learning tightens confidence intervals compared to single-curve estimation. An extensive masking experiment demonstrates that transfer learning significantly improves extrapolation performance.

Polynomial Diffusions and Applications in Finance

This paper provides the mathematical foundation for polynomial diffusions. They play an important role in a growing range of applications in finance, including financial market models for interest rates, credit risk, stochastic volatility, commodities and electricity. Uniqueness of polynomial diffusions is established via moment determinacy in combination with pathwise uniqueness. Existence boils down to a stochastic invariance problem that we solve for semialgebraic state spaces. Examples include the unit ball, the product of the unit cube and nonnegative orthant, and the unit simplex.

Jump-Diffusions in Hilbert Spaces: Existence, Stability and Numerics

By means of an original approach, called "method of the moving frame", we establish existence, uniqueness and stability results for mild and weak solutions of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) with path dependent coefficients driven by an infinite dimensional Wiener process and a compensated Poisson random measure. Our approach is based on a time-dependent coordinate transform, which reduces a wide class of SPDEs to a class of simpler SDE problems. We try to present the most general results, which we can obtain in our setting, within a self-contained framework to demonstrate our approach in all details. Also several numerical approaches to SPDEs in the spirit of this setting are presented.

Finite dimensional Realizations of Stochastic Equations

This paper discusses finite-dimensional (Markovian) realizations (FDRs) for Heath-Jarrow-Morton interest rate models. We consider a d-dimensional driving Brownian motion and stochastic volatility structures that are non-degenerate smooth functionals of the current forward rate. In a recent paper, Björk and Svensson give sufficient and necessary conditions for the existence of FDRs within a particular Hilbert space setup. We extend their framework, provide new results on the geometry of the implied FDRs and classify all of them. In particular, we prove their conjecture that every short rate realization is 2-dimensional. More generally, we show that all generic FDRs are at least (d+1)-dimensional and that all generic FDRs are affine. As an illustration we sketch an interest rate model, which goes well with the Svensson curve-fitting method. These results cannot be obtained in the Björk-Svensson setting. A substantial part of this paper is devoted to analysis on Fréchet spaces, where we derive a Frobenius theorem. Though we only consider stochastic equations in the HJM-framework, many of the results carry over to a more general setup.
