Light beam interacting with electron medium. Exact solutions of the model and their possible applications to photon entanglement problem

We consider a model for describing a QED system consisting of a photon beam interacting with quantized charged spinless particles. We restrict ourselves by a photon beam that consists of photons with two different momenta moving in the same direction. Photons with each moment may have two possible linear polarizations. The exact solutions correspond to two independent subsystems, one of which corresponds to the electron medium and another one is described by vectors in the photon Hilbert subspace and is representing a set of some quasi-photons that do not interact with each other. In addition, we find exact solution of the model that correspond to the same system placed in a constant magnetic field. As an example, of possible applications, we use the solutions of the model for calculating entanglement of the photon beam by quantized electron medium and by a constant magnetic field. Thus, we calculate the entanglement measures (the information and the Schmidt ones) of the photon beam as functions of the applied magnetic field and parameters of the electron medium.

Noncommutative reduction of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation on Lie groups

We propose a new approach that allows one to reduce nonlinear equations on Lie groups to equations with a fewer number of independent variables for finding particular solutions of the nonlinear equations. The main idea is to apply the method of noncommutative integration to the linear part of a nonlinear equation, which allows one to find bases in the space of solutions of linear partial differential equations with a set of noncommuting symmetry operators. The approach is implemented for the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation on a Lie group in curved space with local cubic nonlinearity. General formalism is illustrated by the example of noncommutative reduction of the nonstationary nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the motion group $E(2)$ of the two-dimensional plane $\mathbb{R}^{2}$. In the particular case, we come to the usual ($1+1$) dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the soliton solution. Another example provides the noncommutative reduction of the stationary multidimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the four-dimensional exponential solvable group.

Hamiltonian formalism for Bose excitations in a plasma with a non-Abelian interaction

We have developed the Hamiltonian theory for collective longitudinally polarized colorless excitations (plasmons) in a high-temperature gluon plasma using the general formalism for constructing the wave theory in nonlinear media with dispersion, which was developed by V.E. Zakharov. In this approach, we have explicitly obtained a special canonical transformation that makes it possible to simplify the Hamiltonian of interaction of soft gluon excitations and, hence, to derive a new effective Hamiltonian. The approach developed here is used for constructing a Boltzmann-type kinetic equation describing elastic scattering of collective longitudinally polarized excitations in a gluon plasma as well as the effect of the so-called nonlinear Landau damping. We have performed detailed comparison of the effective amplitude of the plasmon-plasmon interaction, which is determined using the classical Hamilton theory, with the corresponding matrix element calculated in the framework of high-temperature quantum chromodynamics; this has enabled us to determine applicability limits for the purely classical approach described in this study.

In- and out-states of scalar particles confined between two capacitor plates

In the present article, using a non-commutative integration method of linear differential equations, we, considering the Klein-Gordon equation with the $L$-constant electric field with large $L$ and using the light cone variables, find new complete sets of its exact solutions. These solutions can be related by integral transformations to previously known solutions that were found in Phys. Rev. D. $\textbf{93}$, 045033(2016). Then, using the general theory developed in Phys. Rev. D. $\textbf{93}$, 045002 (2016), we construct (in terms of the new solutions) the so-called in- and out-states of scalar particles confined between two capacitor plates.

Quantum states of electromagnetic field interacting with a classical current and their applications to radiation problems

In the beginning, the synchrotron radiation (SR) was studied by classical methods using the Liénard-Wiechert potentials of electric currents. Subsequently, quantum corrections to the obtained classical formulas were studied, considering the emission of photons arising from electronic transitions between spectral levels, described in terms of the Dirac equation. In this paper, we consider an intermediate approach, in which electric currents generating the radiation are considered classically, whereas the quantum nature of the radiation is taken into account exactly. Such an approximate approach may be helpful in some cases, it allows one to study the one-photon and multi-photon radiation without complicating calculations using corresponding solutions of the Dirac equation. We construct exact quantum states of the electromagnetic field interacting with classical currents and study their properties. By their help, we calculate a probability of photon emission by classical currents and obtain relatively simple formulas for the one-photon and multi-photon radiation. Using the specific circular electric current, we calculate the corresponding SR. We discuss a relation of obtained results with known before, for example, with the Schott formula, with the Schwinger calculations, with one-photon radiation of scalar particles due to transitions between Landau levels, and with some previous results of calculating the two-photon SR.

Regularization, renormalization and consistency conditions in QED with x-electric potential steps

The present article is an important addition to the nonperturbative formulation of QED with x-steps presented by Gavrilov and Gitman in Phys. Rev. D. 93, 045002 (2016). Here we propose a new renormalization and volume regularization procedures which allow one to calculate and distinguish physical parts of different matrix elements of operators of the current and of the energy-momentum tensor, at the same time relating the latter quantities with characteristics of the vacuum instability. For this purpose, a modified inner product and a parameter τ of the regularization are introduced. The latter parameter can be fixed using physical considerations. In the Klein zone this parameter can be interpreted as the time of the observation of the pair production effect. In the refined formulation of QED with x-steps, we succeeded to consider the backreaction problem. In the case of an uniform electric field E confined between two capacitor plates separated by a finite distance L, we see that the smallness of the backreaction implies a restriction (the consistency condition) on the product EL from above.

Magnetic response from constant backgrounds to Coulomb sources

Magnetically uncharged, magnetic linear response of the vacuum filled with arbitrarily combined constant electric and magnetic fields to an imposed static electric charge is found within general nonlinear electrodynamics. When the electric charge is point-like and external fields are parallel, the response found may be interpreted as a field of two point-like magnetic charges of opposite polarity in one point. Coefficients characterizing the magnetic response and induced currents are specialized to Quantum Electrodynamics, where the nonlinearity is taken as that determined by the Heisenberg-Euler effective Lagrangian.

Spectra of electronic excitations in graphene near Coulomb impurities

We study the problem of the electron excitation spectrum in the presence of point-like and regularized Coulomb impurities in gapped graphene. To this end, we use the Dirac model and in the point-like case theory of self-adjoint extensions of symmetric operators. In the point-like case, we construct a family of self-adjoint Hamiltonians describing the excitations for any charge of an impurity. Spectra and (generalized) eigenfunctions for all such Hamiltonians are found. Then, we consider the spectral problem in the case of a regularized Coulomb potential of impurities for a special regularization. We study exact equations for charges of impurities that may generate bound states with energy that coincides with the upper boundary of the negative branch of the continuous spectrum (supercritical charges) and calculate these charges.

Vacuum instability in a constant inhomogeneous electric field. A new example of exact nonperturbative calculations

Basic quantum processes (such as particle creation, reflection, and transmission on the corresponding Klein steps) caused by inverse-square electric fields are calculated. These results represent a new example of exact nonperturbative calculations in the framework of QED. The inverse-square electric field is time-independent, inhomogeneous in the $x$-direction, and is inversely proportional to $x$ squared. We find exact solutions of the Dirac and Klein-Gordon equations with such a field and construct corresponding in- and out-states. With the help of these states and using the techniques developed in the framework of QED with $x$-electric potential steps, we calculate characteristics of the vacuum instability, such as differential and total mean numbers of particles created from the vacuum and vacuum-to-vacuum transition probabilities. We study the vacuum instability for two particular backgrounds: for fields widely stretches over the $x$-axis (small-gradient configuration) and for the fields sharply concentrates near the origin $x=0$ (sharp-gradient configuration). We compare exact results with ones calculated numerically. Finally, we consider the electric field configuration, composed by inverse-square fields and by an $x$-independent electric field between them to study the role of growing and decaying processes in the vacuum instability.

Coulomb field in a constant electromagnetic background

Nonlinear Maxwell equations are written up to the third-power deviations from a constant-field background, valid within any local nonlinear electrodynamics including QED with a Euler-Heisenberg (EH) effective Lagrangian. The linear electric response to an imposed static finite-sized charge is found in the vacuum filled by an arbitrary combination of constant and homogeneous electric and magnetic fields. The modified Coulomb field and corrections to the total charge and to the charge density are given in terms of derivatives of the effective Lagrangian with respect to the field invariants. These are specialized for the EH Lagrangian.

Moving point charge as a soliton in nonlinear electrodynamics

The field of a moving pointlike charge is determined in nonlinear local electrodynamics. As a model Lagrangian for the latter we take the one whose nonlinearity is the Euler-Heisenberg Lagrangian of quantum electrodynamics truncated at the leading term of its expansion in powers of the first field invariant. The total energy of the field produced by a point charge is finite in that model; thereby its field configuration is a soliton. We define a finite energy-momentum vector of this field configuration to demonstrate that its components satisfy the standard mechanical relation characteristic of a free moving massive particle.

Quantization of charged fields in the presence of critical potential steps

QFT approaches elaborated for treating quantum effects in time-dependent external electric fields are not directly applicable to time-independent nonuniform electric fields that are given by a step potential and their generalization for the such potentials was not sufficiently developed. Such fields can also create particles from the vacuum, the Klein paradox being closely related to this process. We believe that the present work presents a consistent solution of the latter problem. Quantizing the Dirac and scalar fields with time independent backgrounds, we have found in- and out-creation and annihilation operators that allow one to have particle interpretation of the physical system under consideration. To justify the proposed identification, we have performed a detailed mathematical and physical analysis of solutions of the corresponding relativistic wave equations with a subsequent QFT analysis. We elaborated a nonperturbative technique that allows one to calculate all characteristics of zero-order processes such scattering, reflection, and electron-positron pair creation, and to calculate Feynman diagrams that describe all characteristics of processes with interaction between the in-, out-particles and photons. These diagrams have formally the usual form, but contain special propagators. Expressions for these propagators in terms of in- and out-solutions are presented. We apply the elaborated approach to two popular exactly solvable cases: to the Sauter potential and to the Klein step.

Scattering and pair creation by a constant electric field between two capacitor plates

Using the quantum field theory approach developed in Phys. Rev. D. 93, 045002 (2016), we consider particle scattering and vacuum instability in the so-called L-constant electric field, which is a constant electric field confined between two capacitor plates separated by a finite distance L. We obtain and analyze special sets of stationary solutions of the Dirac and Klein-Gordon equations with the L-constant electric field. Then, we represent probabilities of particle scattering and characteristics of the vacuum instability (related to pair creation) in terms of the introduced solutions. From exact formulas, we derive asymptotic expressions for the differential mean numbers, for the total mean number of created particles, and for the vacuum-to-vacuum transition probability. Using the equivalence principle, we demonstrate that the distributions of particles created by the L-constant electric field and the gravitational field of a black hole have a similar thermal structure.

Unitarity and vacuum deformation in QED with critical potential steps

The present article can be considered as a complement to the work P.R.D 93, 045002 (2016) where an nonperturbative approach to QED with x-electric critical potential steps was developed. In the beginning we study conditions when in- and out-spaces of the QED under consideration are unitarily equivalent. Then we construct a general density operator with the vacuum initial condition. Such an operator describes a deformation of the initial vacuum state by x-electric critical potential steps. We construct reductions of the deformed state to electron and positron subsystems, calculating the loss of the information in these reductions. We illustrate the general consideration studying the deformation of the quantum vacuum between two capacitor plates. Finally we calculate the entanglement measures of these reduced matrices as von Neumann entropies.

Effective spectrum width of the synchrotron radiation

For an exact quantitative description of spectral properties of synchrotron radiation (SR), the concept of effective width of the spectrum is introduced. In the most interesting case, which corresponds to the ultrarelativistic limit of SR, the effective width of the spectrum is calculated for the polarization components, and new physically important quantitative information on the structure of spectral distributions is obtained. For the first time, the spectral distribution for the circular polarization component of the SR for the upper half-space is obtained within classical theory.

Peculiarities of electron energy spectrum in Coulomb field of super heavy nucleus

Just after the Dirac equation was established, a number of physicists tried to comment on and solve the spectral problem for the Dirac Hamiltonian with the Coulomb field of arbitrarily large charge $Z$, especially with $Z$ that is more than the critical value $Z_{\mathrm{c}}=α^{-1}\simeq137,04$, making sometimes contradictory conclusions and presenting doubtful solutions. It seems that there is no consesus on this problem up until now and especially on the way of using corresponding solutions of the Dirac equation in calculating physical processes. That is why in the present article, we turn once again to discussing peculiarities of electron energy spectrum in the Coulomb field of superheavy nucleus. In the beginning, we remind the reader of a long story with a wrong interpretation of the problem in the case of a point nucleus and its present correct solution. We then turn to the spectral problem in the case of a regularized Coulomb field. Under a specific regularization, we derive an exact spectrum equation determining the point spectrum in the energy interval $(-m,m)$ and present some of its numerical solutions. We also derive an exact equation for charges $Z$ providing bound states with energy $E=-m$. Its analytical and numerical analysis shows that there exists an infinite number of such charges; in this connection , we discuss the notion of supercritical charge.

Photon propagation in noncommutative QED with constant external field

We find dispersion laws for the photon propagating in the presence of mutually orthogonal constant external electric and magnetic fields in the context of the $θ$-expanded noncommutative QED. We show that there is no birefringence to the first order in the noncommutativity parameter $% θ.$ By analyzing the group velocities of the photon eigenmodes we show that there occurs superluminal propagation for any direction. This phenomenon depends on the mutual orientation of the external electromagnetic fields and the noncommutativity vector. We argue that the propagation of signals with superluminal group velocity violates causality in spite of the fact that the noncommutative theory is not Lorentz-invariant and speculate about possible workarounds.

Statistical properties of states in QED with unstable vacuum

We study statistical properties of states of massive quantized charged Dirac and Klein-Gordon fields interacting with a background that violates the vacuum stability, first in general terms and then for a special electromagnetic background. As a starting point, we use a nonperturbative expression for the density operators of such fields derived by Gavrilov et al [S.P. Gavrilov, D.M. Gitman, and J.L. Tomazelli, Nucl. Phys. B 795, 645 (2008)]. We construct the reduced density operators for electron and positron subsystems and discuss a decoherence that may occur in the course of the evolution due to an intermediate measurement. By calculating the entropy we study the loss of the information in QED states due to partial reductions and a possible decoherence. Next, we consider the so-called T-constant external electric field as an external background. This exactly solvable example allows us to calculate explicitly all statistical properties of various quantum states of the massive charged fields under consideration.

Creation of Dirac neutrinos in a dense medium with time-dependent effective potential

We consider Dirac neutrinos interacting with background fermions in the frame of the standard model. We demonstrate that a time-dependent effective potential is quite possible in a protoneutron star (PNS) at certain stages of its evolution. For the first time, we formulate a nonperturbative treatment of neutrino processes in a matter with arbitrary time-dependent effective potential. Using linearly growing effective potential, we study the typical case of a slowly varying matter interaction potential. We calculate differential mean numbers of $ν\barν$ pairs created from the vacuum by this potential and find that they crucially depend on the magnitude of masses of the lightest neutrino eigenstate. These distributions uniformly span up to $\sim 10$ eV energies for muon and tau neutrinos created in PNS core due to the compression just before the hydrodynamic bounce and up to $\sim 0.1$ eV energies for all three active neutrino flavors created in the neutronization. Considering different stages of the PNS evolution, we derive constraints on neutrino masses, $m_ν\lesssim (10^{-8}-10^{-7})$ eV corresponding to the nonvanishing $ν\barν$ pairs flux produced by this mechanism. We show that one can distinguish such coherent flux from chaotic fluxes of any other origin. Part of these neutrinos, depending on the flavor and helicity, are bounded in the PNS, while antineutrinos of any flavor escape the PNS. If the created pairs are $ν_{e}\barν_{e}$, then a part of the corresponding neutrinos also escape the PNS. The detection of $ν$ and $\barν$ with such low energies is beyond current experimental techniques.

Electric charge is a magnetic dipole when placed in a background magnetic field

It is demonstrated, owing to the nonlinearity of QED, that a static charge placed in a strong magnetic field\ $B$\ is a magnetic dipole (besides remaining an electric monopole, as well). Its magnetic moment grows linearly with $B$ as long as the latter remains smaller than the characteristic value of $1.2\cdot 10^{13}\unit{G}$ but tends to a constant as $B$ exceeds that value. The force acting on a densely charged object by the dipole magnetic field of a neutron star is estimated.

Entanglement of two-qubit photon beam by magnetic field

We have studied the possibility of affecting the entanglement measure of 2-qubit system consisting of two photons with different fixed frequencies but with two arbitrary linear polarizations, moving in the same direction, by the help of an applied external magnetic field. The interaction between the magnetic field and the photons in our model is achieved through intermediate electrons that interact with both the photons and the magnetic field. The possibility of exact theoretical analysis of this scheme is based on known exact solutions that describe the interaction of an electron subjected to an external magnetic field (or a medium of electrons not interacting with each other) with a quantized field of two photons. We adapt these exact solutions to the case under consideration. Using explicit wave functions for the resulting electromagnetic field, we calculate the entanglement measure of the photon beam as a function of the applied magnetic field and parameters of the electron medium.

Magnetic response to applied electrostatic field in external magnetic field

We show, within QED and other possible nonlinear theories, that a static charge localized in a finite domain of space becomes a magnetic dipole, if it is placed in an external (constant and homogeneous) magnetic field in the vacuum. The magnetic moment is quadratic in the charge, depends on its size and is parallel to the external field, provided the charge distribution is at least cylindrically symmetric. This magneto-electric effect is a nonlinear response of the magnetized vacuum to an applied electrostatic field. Referring to a simple example of a spherically-symmetric applied field, the nonlinearly induced current and its magnetic field are found explicitly throughout the space, the pattern of lines of force is depicted, both inside and outside the charge, which resembles that of a standard solenoid of classical magnetostatics.

Nonlinearity in Electro- and Magneto-statics with and without External Field

Due to the nonlinearity of QED, a static charge becomes a magnetic dipole if placed in a magnetic field. Already without external field, the cubic Maxwell equation for the field of a point charge has a soliton solution with a finite field energy. Equations are given for self-coupling dipole moments. Any theoretically found value for a multipole moment of a baryon or a meson should be subjected to nonlinear renormalization.

Particle creation from the vacuum by an exponentially decreasing electric field

We analyze the creation of fermions and bosons from the vacuum by the exponentially decreasing in time electric field in detail. In our calculations we use QED and follow in main the consideration of particle creation effect in a homogeneous electric field. To this end we find complete sets of exact solutions of the $d$-dimensional Dirac equation in the exponentially decreasing electric field and use them to calculate all the characteristics of the effect, in particular, the total number of created particles and the probability of a vacuum to remain a vacuum. It should be noted that the latter quantities were derived in the case under consideration for the first time. All possible asymptotic regimes are discussed in detail. In addition, switching on and switching off effects are studied.

Canonical quantization, path integral representations, and pseudoclassical description of massive Weyl neutrinos in external backgrounds

We study massive 1/2-spin particles in various external backgrounds keeping in mind applications to neutrino physics. We are mainly interested in massive Majorana (Weyl) fields. However, massive neutral Dirac particles are also considered. We formulate classical Lagrangian theory of the massive Weyl field in terms of Grassmann-odd two-component spinors. Then we construct the Hamiltonian formulation of such a theory, which turns out to be a theory with second-class constraints. Using this formulation we canonically quantize the massive free Weyl field. We derive propagators of the Weyl field and relate them to the propagator of a massive Dirac particle. We also study the massive Weyl particles propagating in the background mater. We find the path integral representation for the propagator of such a field, as well as the corresponding pseudoclassical particle action. The massless limit of the Weyl field interacting with the matter is considered and compared with results of other works. Finally, the path integral representation for the propagator of the neutral massive Dirac particle with an anomalous magnetic moment moving in the background matter and external electromagnetic field, as well as the corresponding pseudoclassical particle action are constructed.

Creation of neutral fermions with anomalous magnetic moments from a vacuum by inhomogeneous magnetic field

A consistent nonperturbative approach (based on QFT) to neutral fermion creation (due to their magnetic moments) in strong inhomogeneous magnetic fields is considered. It is demonstrated that quantization in terms of neutral particles and antiparticles is possible in terms of the states with well-defined spin polarization. Such states are localizable and can form wave packets in a given asymptotic region. In this case, the problem can be technically reduced to the problem of charged-particle creation by an electric step. In particular, the relation to the Schwinger method of an effective action is established. As an example, we calculate neutral fermion creation from the vacuum by a linearly growing magnetic field. We show that the total number and the vacuum-to-vacuum transition probability of created pairs depend only on the gradient of the magnetic field, but not on its strength, and this fact does not depend on the spacetime dimension. We show that the created flux aimed in one of the directions is formed from fluxes of particles and antiparticles of equal intensity and with the same magnetic moments parallel to the external field. In such a flux, particle and antiparticle velocities that are perpendicular to the plane of the magnetic moment and flux direction are essentially depressed. The creation of neutral fermions with anomalous magnetic moments leads to a smoothing of the initial magnetic field, which in turn prevents appearance of superstrong constant magnetic fields. Our estimations show that the vacuum instability with respect to the creation of neutrinos and even neutrons in strong magnetic fields of the magnetars and fields generated during a supernova explosion has to be taken into account in the astrophysics. In particular, it may be of significance for dark matter studies.

Coherent states and related quantizations for unbounded motions

We build coherent states (CS) for unbounded motions along two different procedures. In the first one we adapt the Malkin-Manko construction for quadratic Hamiltonians to the motion of a particle in a linear potential. A generalization to arbitrary potentials is discussed. The second one extends to continuous spectrum previous constructions of action-angle coherent states in view of a consistent energy quantization.

Creation of neutral fermions with anomalous magnetic moment from vacuum by inhomogeneous magnetic field

Until now a consistent description (based on QFT) of neutral particle creation (due to their magnetic moments) in strong inhomogeneous magnetic fields was unknown. To provide such a description is a part of the present article. In the framework of the developed approach, we demonstrate that in a specific cases, the problem can be technically reduced to the problem of charge particle creation by an electric field given by a nonlinear scalar potential. We analyze once again the latter problem, taking into account existing approaches and formulating for the first time its solution from the view point of QFT. As a final result, we calculate neutral particle creation form the vacuum by a linearly growing magnetic field.

Dirac fermions in strong electric field and quantum transport in graphene

Our previous results on the nonperturbative calculations of the mean current and of the energy-momentum tensor in QED with the T-constant electric field are generalized to arbitrary dimensions. The renormalized mean values are found; the vacuum polarization and particle creation contributions to these mean values are isolated in the large T-limit, the vacuum polarization contributions being related to the one-loop effective Euler-Heisenberg Lagrangian. Peculiarities in odd dimensions are considered in detail. We adapt general results obtained in 2+1 dimensions to the conditions which are realized in the Dirac model for graphene. We study the quantum electronic and energy transport in the graphene at low carrier density and low temperatures when quantum interference effects are important. Our description of the quantum transport in the graphene is based on the so-called generalized Furry picture in QED where the strong external field is taken into account nonperturbatively; this approach is not restricted to a semiclassical approximation for carriers and does not use any statistical assumtions inherent in the Boltzmann transport theory. In addition, we consider the evolution of the mean electromagnetic field in the graphene, taking into account the backreaction of the matter field to the applied external field. We find solutions of the corresponding Dirac-Maxwell set of equations and with their help we calculate the effective mean electromagnetic field and effective mean values of the current and the energy-momentum tensor. The nonlinear and linear I-V characteristics experimentally observed in both low and high mobility graphene samples is quite well explained in the framework of the proposed approach, their peculiarities being essentially due to the carrier creation from the vacuum by the applied electric field.

Electronic Structure of Superheavy Atoms. Revisited

The electronic structure of an atom with Z <= 137 can be described by the Dirac equation with the Coulomb field of a point charge Ze. It was believed that the Dirac equation with Z > 137 is inconsistent and physically meaningless because the formula for the lower energy level of the Dirac Hamiltonian formally gives imaginary eigenvalues. But a strict mathematical consideration shows that difficulties with the electronic spectrum for Z > 137 do not arise if the Dirac Hamiltonian is correctly defined as a self-adjoint operator, see [1]. In this article, we brie y summarize the main physical results of that consideration in a form suitable for physicists with some additional new details and numerical calculations of the electronic spectra. Noncommutative magnetic moment, fundamental length and lepton size

Upper bounds on fundamental length are discussed that follow from the fact that a magnetic moment is inherent in a charged particle in noncommutative (NC) electrodynamics. The strongest result thus obtained for the fundamental lenth is still larger than the estimate of electron or muon size achieved following the Brodsky-Drell and Dehlmet approach to lepton compositeness. This means that NC electrodynamics cannot alone explain the whole existing descrepancy between the theoretical and experimental values of the muon magnetic moment. On the contrary, as measurements and calculations are further improved, the fundamental length estimate based on electron data may go down to match its compositeness radius.

One-loop energy-momentum tensor in QED with electric-like background

We have obtained nonperturbative one-loop expressions for the mean energy-momentum tensor and current density of Dirac's field on a constant electric-like background. One of the goals of this calculation is to give a consistent description of back-reaction in such a theory. Two cases of initial states are considered: the vacuum state and the thermal equilibrium state. First, we perform calculations for the vacuum initial state. In the obtained expressions, we separate the contributions due to particle creation and vacuum polarization. The latter contributions are related to the Heisenberg-Euler Lagrangian. Then, we study the case of the thermal initial state. Here, we separate the contributions due to particle creation, vacuum polarization, and the contributions due to the work of the external field on the particles at the initial state. All these contributions are studied in detail, in different regimes of weak and strong fields and low and high temperatures. The obtained results allow us to establish restrictions on the electric field and its duration under which QED with a strong constant electric field is consistent. Under such restrictions, one can neglect the back-reaction of particles created by the electric field. Some of the obtained results generalize the calculations of Heisenberg-Euler for energy density to the case of arbitrary strong electric fields.

This article completes our study of coherent states in the so-called magnetic-solenoid field (a colinear combination of a constant uniform magnetic field and Aharonov-Bohm solenoid field) presented in JPA 2010 and 2011. Here we succeeded to prove nontrivial completeness relations for non-relativistic and relativistic coherent states in such a field. In addition, we solve here the relevant Stieltjes moment problem and present a comparative analysis of our coherent states and the well-known in the case of pure uniform magnetic field Malkin-Man'ko coherent states.

Classical Noncommutative Electrodynamics with External Source

In a $U(1)_{\star}$-noncommutative (NC) gauge field theory we extend the Seiberg-Witten (SW) map to include the (gauge-invariance-violating) external current and formulate - to the first order in the NC parameter - gauge-covariant classical field equations. We find solutions to these equations in the vacuum and in an external magnetic field, when the 4-current is a static electric charge of a finite size $a$, restricted from below by the elementary length. We impose extra boundary conditions, which we use to rule out all singularities, $1/r$ included, from the solutions. The static charge proves to be a magnetic dipole, with its magnetic moment being inversely proportional to its size $a$. The external magnetic field modifies the long-range Coulomb field and some electromagnetic form-factors. We also analyze the ambiguity in the SW map and show that at least to the order studied here it is equivalent to the ambiguity of adding a homogeneous solution to the current-conservation equation.

Coherent and semiclassical states in magnetic field in the presence of the Aharonov-Bohm solenoid

A new approach to constructing coherent states (CS) and semiclassical states (SS) in magnetic-solenoid field is proposed. The main idea is based on the fact that the AB solenoid breaks the translational symmetry in the xy-plane, this has a topological effect such that there appear two types of trajectories which embrace and do not embrace the solenoid. Due to this fact, one has to construct two different kinds of CS/SS, which correspond to such trajectories in the semiclassical limit. Following this idea, we construct CS in two steps, first the instantaneous CS (ICS) and the time dependent CS/SS as an evolution of the ICS. The construction is realized for nonrelativistic and relativistic spinning particles both in (2+1)- and (3+1)- dimensions and gives a non-trivial example of SS/CS for systems with a nonquadratic Hamiltonian. It is stressed that CS depending on their parameters (quantum numbers) describe both pure quantum and semiclassical states. An analysis is represented that classifies parameters of the CS in such respect. Such a classification is used for the semiclassical decompositions of various physical quantities.

Density matrix of a quantum field in a particle-creating background

We consider the time evolution of a quantized field in backgrounds that violate the vacuum stability (particle-creating backgrounds). Our aim is to study the exact form of the final quantum state (the density operator at a final instant of time) that has emerged from a given arbitrary initial state (from a given arbitrary density operator at the initial time instant) in the course of the evolution. We find a generating functional that allows us to have the density operators for any initial state. Averaging over states of a subsystem of antiparticles (particles), we obtain explicit forms for reduced density operators for subsystems of particles (antiparticles). Studying one-particle correlation functions, we establish a one-to-one correspondence between these functions and the reduced density operators. It is shown that in the general case a presence of bosons (e.g. gluons) in an initial state increases the creation rate of the same kind of bosons. We discuss the question (and its relation to the initial stage of quark-gluon plasma formation) whether a thermal form of one-particle distribution can appear even if the final state of the complete system is not a thermal equilibrium. In this respect, we discuss some cases when a pair creation by an electric-like field can mimic a one-particle thermal distribution. We apply our technics to some QFT problems in slowly varying electric-like backgrounds: electric, SU(3) chromoelectric, and metric. In particular, we study the time and temperature behavior of mean numbers of created particles provided switching on and off effects of the external field are negligible. It is shown that at high temperatures and in slowly varying electric fields the rate of particle creation is essentially time-dependent.

Noncommutative magnetic moment of charged particles

It has been argued, that in noncommutative field theories sizes of physical objects cannot be taken smaller than an elementary length related to noncommutativity parameters. By gauge-covariantly extending field equations of noncommutative U(1)_*-theory to the presence of external sources, we find electric and magnetic fields produces by an extended charge. We find that such a charge, apart from being an ordinary electric monopole, is also a magnetic dipole. By writing off the existing experimental clearance in the value of the lepton magnetic moments for the present effect, we get the bound on noncommutativity at the level of 10^4 TeV.

Quantum deformation of the angular distributions of synchrotron radiation. Emission of particles in the first excited state

The exact expressions for the characteristics of synchrotron radiation of charged particles in the first excited state are obtained in analytical form using quantum theory methods. We performed a detailed analysis of the angular distribution structure of radiation power and its polarization for particles with spin 0 and 1/2. It is shown that the exact quantum calculations lead to results that differ substantially from the predictions of classical theory.

Quantum motion in superposition of Aharonov-Bohm with some additional electromagnetic fields

The structure of additional electromagnetic fields to the Aharonov-Bohm field, for which the Schrödinger, Klein-Gordon, and Dirac equations can be solved exactly are described and the corresponding exact solutions are found. It is demonstrated that aside from the known cases (a constant and uniform magnetic field that is parallel to the Aharonov-Bohm solenoid, a static spherically symmetrical electric field, and the field of a magnetic monopole), there are broad classes of additional fields. Among these new additional fields we have physically interesting electric fields acting during a finite time, or localized in a restricted region of space. There are additional time-dependent uniform and isotropic electric fields that allow exact solutions of the Schrodinger equation. In the relativistic case there are additional electric fields propagating along the Aharonov-Bohm solenoid with arbitrary electric pulse shape.

Classification of quantum relativistic orientable objects

Started from our work "Fields on the Poincare Group and Quantum Description of Orientable Objects" (EPJC,2009), we consider here a classification of orientable relativistic quantum objects in 3+1 dimensions. In such a classification, one uses a maximal set of 10 commuting operators (generators of left and right transformations) in the space of functions on the Poincare group. In addition to usual 6 quantum numbers related to external symmetries (given by left generators), there appear additional quantum numbers related to internal symmetries (given by right generators). We believe that the proposed approach can be useful for description of elementary spinning particles considering as orientable objects. In particular, their classification in the framework of the approach under consideration reproduces the usual classification but is more comprehensive. This allows one to give a group-theoretical interpretation to some facts of the existing phenomenological classification of known spinning particles.

Coherent states of non-relativistic electron in magnetic-solenoid field

We construct coherent states of a nonrelativistic electron in the magnetic-solenoid field, which is a superposition of the Aharonov-Bohm field and a collinear uniform magnetic field. In the problem under consideration there are two kind of coherent states, the first kind corresponds to classical trajectories which embrace the solenoid and the second one to trajectories which do not. Mean coordinates in the constructed coherent states are moving along classical trajectories, the coherent states maintain their form under the time evolution, and represent a complete set of functions, which can be useful in semi classical calculations. In the absence of the Aharonov-Bohm filed these states are reduced to the well-known in the case of uniform magnetic field Malkin-Man'ko coherent states.

Polarization rotation and Casimir effect in suspended graphene films

The low-energy quasi-excitations in graphene are known to be described as Dirac fermions in 2+1 dimensions. Adopting field-theoretical approach we investigate the interaction of these quasi-particles with 3+1 dimensional electromagnetic field focusing on the optical properties of suspended graphene layers and their Casimir interaction with ideal conductor. The magnitude of predicted effects (the rotation of polarization of light and the Casimir force) appears to be well within modern experimental capabilities.

Quantization of the Damped Harmonic Oscillator Revisited

We return to the description of the damped harmonic oscillator by means of a closed quantum theory with a general assessment of previous works, in particular the Bateman-Caldirola-Kanai model and a new model recently proposed by one of the authors. We show the local equivalence between the two models and argue that latter has better high energy behavior and is naturally connected to existing open-quantum-systems approaches.

Quantum and pseudoclassical descriptions of nonrelativistic spinning particles in noncommutative space

We construct a nonrelativistic wave equation for spinning particles in the noncommutative space (in a sense, a $θ$-modification of the Pauli equation). To this end, we consider the nonrelativistic limit of the $θ$-modified Dirac equation. To complete the consideration, we present a pseudoclassical model (à la Berezin-Marinov) for the corresponding nonrelativistic particle in the noncommutative space. To justify the latter model, we demonstrate that its quantization leads to the $θ$-modified Pauli equation. Then, we extract $θ$-modified interaction between a nonrelativistic spin and a magnetic field from the $θ$-modified Pauli equation and construct a $θ$-modification of the Heisenberg model for two coupled spins placed in an external magnetic field. In the framework of such a model, we calculate the probability transition between two orthogonal EPR (Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen) states for a pair of spins in an oscillatory magnetic field and show that some of such transitions, which are forbidden in the commutative space, are possible due to the space noncommutativity.

Self-adjoint extensions and spectral analysis in the generalized Kratzer problem

We present a mathematically rigorous quantum-mechanical treatment of a one-dimensional nonrelativistic motion of a particle in the potential field $V(x)=g_{1}x^{-1}+g_{2}x^{-2}$. For $g_{2}>0$ and $g_{1}<0$, the potential is known as the Kratzer potential and is usually used to describe molecular energy and structure, interactions between different molecules, and interactions between non-bonded atoms. We construct all self-adjoint Schrodinger operators with the potential $V(x)$ and represent rigorous solutions of the corresponding spectral problems. Solving the first part of the problem, we use a method of specifying s.a. extensions by (asymptotic) s.a. boundary conditions. Solving spectral problems, we follow the Krein's method of guiding functionals. This work is a continuation of our previous works devoted to Coulomb, Calogero, and Aharonov-Bohm potentials.

Symmetry preserving self-adjoint extensions of Schrödinger operators with singular potentials

We develop a general technique for finding self-adjoint extensions of a symmetric operator that respect a given set of its symmetries. Problems of this type naturally arise when considering two- and three-dimensional Schrödinger operators with singular potentials. The approach is based on constructing a unitary transformation diagonalizing the symmetries and reducing the initial operator to the direct integral of a suitable family of partial operators. We prove that symmetry preserving self-adjoint extensions of the initial operator are in a one-to-one correspondence with measurable families of self-adjoint extensions of partial operators obtained by reduction. The general construction is applied to the three-dimensional Aharonov-Bohm Hamiltonian describing the electron in the magnetic field of an infinitely thin solenoid.

Two and four-level systems in magnetic fields restricted in time

We describe some new exact solutions for two- and four-level systems. In all the cases, external fields have a restricted behavior in time. First, we consider two types of new solutions for one-spin equation, one of them is in a external magnetic field that acts during a finite time interval. A new solution for two interacting spins is found in the case when the field difference between the external fields in each spin vary adiabatically, vanishing on the time infinity. The latter system can be identified with a quantum gate realized by two coupled quantum dots. The probability of the Swap operation for such a gate can be explicitly expressed in terms of special functions. Using the obtained expressions, we construct plots for the Swap operation for some parameters of the external magnetic field and interaction function.

Casimir interaction between a perfect conductor and graphene described by the Dirac model

We adopt the Dirac model for graphene and calculate the Casimir interaction energy between a plane suspended graphene sample and a parallel plane perfect conductor. This is done in two ways. First, we use the Quantum Field Theory (QFT) approach and evaluate the leading order diagram in a theory with 2+1 dimensional fermions interacting with 3+1 dimensional photons. Next, we consider an effective theory for the electromagnetic field with matching conditions induced by quantum quasi-particles in graphene. The first approach turns out to be the leading order in the coupling constant of the second one. The Casimir interaction for this system appears to be rather weak. It exhibits a strong dependence on the mass of the quasi-particles in graphene.

On "Schwinger Mechanism for Gluon Pair Production in the Presence of Arbitrary Time Dependent Chromo-Electric Field"

Recently the paper "Schwinger Mechanism for Gluon Pair Production in the Presence of Arbitrary Time Dependent Chromo-Electric Field" by G. C. Nayak was published [Eur. Phys. J. C 59, 715 (2009); arXiv:0708.2430]. Its aim is to obtain an exact expression for the probability of non-perturbative gluon pair production per unit time per unit volume and per unit transverse momentum in an arbitrary time-dependent chromo-electric background field. We believe that the obtained expression is open to question. We demonstrate its inconsistency on some well-known examples. We think that this is a consequence of using the so-called "shift theorem" [arXiv:hep-th/0609192] in deriving the expression for the probability. We make some critical comments on the theorem and its applicability to the problem in question.

Self-adjoint extensions and spectral analysis in Calogero problem

In this paper, we present a mathematically rigorous quantum-mechanical treatment of a one-dimensional motion of a particle in the Calogero potential $αx^{-2}$. Although the problem is quite old and well-studied, we believe that our consideration, based on a uniform approach to constructing a correct quantum-mechanical description for systems with singular potentials and/or boundaries, proposed in our previous works, adds some new points to its solution. To demonstrate that a consideration of the Calogero problem requires mathematical accuracy, we discuss some "paradoxes" inherent in the "naive" quantum-mechanical treatment. We study all possible self-adjoint operators (self-adjoint Hamiltonians) associated with a formal differential expression for the Calogero Hamiltonian. In addition, we discuss a spontaneous scale-symmetry breaking associated with self-adjoint extensions. A complete spectral analysis of all self-adjoint Hamiltonians is presented.

Non-Volkov solutions for a charge in a plane wave

We focus our attention, once again, on the Klein--Gordon and Dirac equations with a plane-wave field. We recall that for the first time a set of solutions of these equations was found by Volkov. The Volkov solutions are widely used in calculations of quantum effects with electrons and other elementary particles in laser beams. We demonstrate that one can construct sets of solutions which differ from the Volkov solutions and which may be useful in physical applications. For this purpose, we show that the transversal charge motion in a plane wave can be mapped by a special transformation to transversal free particle motion. This allows us to find new sets of solutions where the transversal motion is characterized by quantum numbers different from Volkov's (in the Volkov solutions this motion is characterized by the transversal momentum). In particular, we construct solutions with semiclassical transversal charge motion (transversal squeezed coherent states). In addition, we demonstrate how the plane-wave field can be eliminated from the transversal charge motion in a more complicated case of the so-called combined electromagnetic field (a combination of a plane-wave field and constant colinear electric and magnetic fields). Thus, we find new sets of solutions of the Klein--Gordon and Dirac equations with the combined electromagnetic field.

Symmetries of dynamically equivalent theories

A natural and very important development of constrained system theory is a detail study of the relation between the constraint structure in the Hamiltonian formulation with specific features of the theory in the Lagrangian formulation, especially the relation between the constraint structure with the symmetries of the Lagrangian action. An important preliminary step in this direction is a strict demonstration, and this is the aim of the present article, that the symmetry structures of the Hamiltonian action and of the Lagrangian action are the same. This proved, it is sufficient to consider the symmetry structure of the Hamiltonian action. The latter problem is, in some sense, simpler because the Hamiltonian action is a first-order action. At the same time, the study of the symmetry of the Hamiltonian action naturally involves Hamiltonian constraints as basic objects. One can see that the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian actions are dynamically equivalent. This is why, in the present article, we consider from the very beginning a more general problem: how the symmetry structures of dynamically equivalent actions are related. First, we present some necessary notions and relations concerning infinitesimal symmetries in general, as well as a strict definition of dynamically equivalent actions. Finally, we demonstrate that there exists an isomorphism between classes of equivalent symmetries of dynamically equivalent actions.

Dirac equation in the magnetic-solenoid field

We consider the Dirac equation in the magnetic-solenoid field (the field of a solenoid and a collinear uniform magnetic field). For the case of Aharonov-Bohm solenoid, we construct self-adjoint extensions of the Dirac Hamiltonian using von Neumann's theory of deficiency indices. We find self-adjoint extensions of the Dirac Hamiltonian in both above dimensions and boundary conditions at the AB solenoid. Besides, for the first time, solutions of the Dirac equation in the magnetic-solenoid field with a finite radius solenoid were found. We study the structure of these solutions and their dependence on the behavior of the magnetic field inside the solenoid. Then we exploit the latter solutions to specify boundary conditions for the magnetic-solenoid field with Aharonov-Bohm solenoid.

On Modifications of the Sp(2) Covariant Superfield Quantization

We propose a modification of the Sp(2) covariant superfield quantization to realize a superalgebra of generating operators isomorphic to the massless limit of the corresponding superalgebra of the osp(1,2) covariant formalism. The modified scheme ensures the compatibility of the superalgebra of generating operators with extended BRST symmetry without imposing restrictions eliminating superfield components from the quantum action. The formalism coincides with the Sp(2) covariant superfield scheme and with the massless limit of the osp(1,2) covariant quantization in particular cases of gauge-fixing and solutions of the quantum master equations.

Constraint Reorganization Consistent with the Dirac Procedure

The way of finding all the constraints in the Hamiltonian formulation of singular (in particular, gauge) theories is called the Dirac procedure. The constraints are naturally classified according to the correspondig stages of this procedure. On the other hand, it is convenient to reorganize the constraints such that they are explicitly decomposed into the first-class and second-class constraints. We discuss the reorganization of the constraints into the first- and second-class constraints that is consistent with the Dirac procedure, i.e., that does not violate the decomposition of the constraints according to the stages of the Dirac procedure. The possibility of such a reorganization is important for the study of gauge symmetries in the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations.

QED in external field with space-time uniform invariants. Exact solutions

We study exact solutions of Dirac and Klein-Gordon equations and Green functions in d-dimensional QED and in an external electromagnetic field with constant and homogeneous field invariants. The cases of even and odd dimensions are considered separately, they are essentially different. We direct attention to the asymmetry of the quasienergy spectrum, which appears in odd dimensions. The in and out classification of the exact solutions as well as the completeness and orthogonality relations is strictly proven. Different Green functions in the form of sums over the exact solutions are constructed. The Fock-Schwinger proper time integral representations of these Green functions are found. As physical applications we consider the calculations of different quantum effects related to the vacuum instability in the external field. For example, we present mean values of particles created from the vacuum, the probability of the vacuum remaining a vacuum, the effective action, and the expectation values of the current and energy-momentum tensor.

Quantization of Point-Like Particles and Consistent Relativistic Quantum Mechanics

We revise the problem of the quantization of relativistic particle models (spinless and spinning), presenting a modified consistent canonical scheme. One of the main point of the modification is related to a principally new realization of the Hilbert space. It allows one not only to include arbitrary backgrounds in the consideration but to get in course of the quantization a consistent relativistic quantum mechanics, which reproduces literally the behavior of the one-particle sector of the corresponding quantum field. In particular, in a physical sector of the Hilbert space a complete positive spectrum of energies of relativistic particles and antiparticles is reproduced, and all state vectors have only positive norms.

Quantum spinor field in the FRW universe with a constant electromagnetic background

The article is a natural continuation of our paper {\em Quantum scalar field in FRW Universe with constant electromagnetic background}, Int. J. Mod. Phys. {\bf A12}, 4837 (1997). We generalize the latter consideration to the case of massive spinor field, which is placed in FRW Universe of special type with a constant electromagnetic field. To this end special sets of exact solutions of Dirac equation in the background under consideration are constructed and classified. Using these solutions representations for out-in, in-in, and out-out spinor Green functions are explicitly constructed as proper-time integrals over the corresponding contours in complex proper-time plane. The vacuum-to-vacuum transition amplitude and number of created particles are found and vacuum instability is discussed. The mean values of the current and energy-momentum tensor are evaluated, and different approximations for them are presented. The back reaction related to particle creation and to the polarization of the unstable vacuum is estimated in different regimes.

Classical description of spinning degrees of freedom of relativistic particles by means of commuting spinors

We consider a possibility to describe spin one-half and higher spins of massive relativistic particles by means of commuting spinors. We present two classical gauge models with the variables $x^μ,ξ_α,χ_α$, where $ξ,χ$ are commuting Majorana spinors. In course of quantization both models reproduce Dirac equation. We analyze the possibility to introduce an interaction with an external electromagnetic background into the models and to generalize them to higher spin description. The first model admits a minimal interaction with the external electromagnetic field, but leads to reducible representations of the Poincare group being generalized for higher spins. The second model turns out to be appropriate for description of the massive higher spins. However, it seams to be difficult to introduce a minimal interaction with an external electromagnetic field into this model. We compare our approach with one, which uses Grassman variables, and establish a relation between them.

Examples of D=11 S-supersymmetric actions for point-like dynamical systems

A non standard super extensions of the Poincare algebra (S-algebra [1,2]), which seems to be relevant for construction of various D=11 models, are studied. We present two examples of actions for point-like dynamical systems, which are invariant under off-shell closed realization of the S-algebra as well as under local fermionic $κ$-symmetry. On this ground, an explicit form of the S-algebra is advocated.

Pseudoclassical description of higher spins in $2+1$ dimensions

Pseudoclassical supersymmetric model to describe massive particles with higher spins (integer and half-integer) in $2+1$ dimensions is proposed. The quantization of the model leads to the minimal (with only one polarization state) quantum theory. In particular, the Bargmann-Wigner type equations for higher spins arise in course of the canonical quantization. The cases of spin one-half and one are considered in detail. Here one gets Dirac particles and Chern-Simons particles respectively. A relation with the field theory is discussed. On the basis of the model proposed, and using dimensional reduction considerations, a model to describe Weyl particles with higher spins in $3+1$ dimensions is constructed.

Spin Factor in Path Integral Representation for Dirac Propagator in External Fields

We study the spin factor problem both in $3+1$ and $2+1$ dimensions which are essentially different for spin factor construction. Doing all Grassmann integrations in the corresponding path integral representations for Dirac propagator we get representations with spin factor in arbitrary external field. Thus, the propagator appears to be presented by means of bosonic path integral only. In $3+1$ dimensions we present a simple derivation of spin factor avoiding some unnecessary steps in the original brief letter (Gitman, Shvartsman, Phys. Lett. {\bf B318} (1993) 122) which themselves need some additional justification. In this way the meaning of the surprising possibility of complete integration over Grassmann variables gets clear. In $2+1$ dimensions the derivation of the spin factor is completely original. Then we use the representations with spin factor for calculations of the propagator in some configurations of external fields. Namely, in constant uniform electromagnetic field and in its combination with a plane wave field.

Vacuum instability in external fields

We study particles creation in arbitrary space-time dimensions by external electric fields, in particular, by fields, which are acting for a finite time. The time and dimensional analysis of the vacuum instability is presented. It is shown that the distributions of particles created by quasiconstant electric fields can be written in a form which has a thermal character and seems to be universal. Its application, for example, to the particles creation in external constant gravitational field reproduces the Hawking temperature exactly.

Pseudoclassical Model of Spinning Particle with Anomalous Magnetic Momentum

A generalization of the pseudoclassical action of a spinning particle in the presence of an anomalous magnetic momentum is given. The action is written in reparametrization and supergauge invariant form. The Dirac quantization, based on the Hamiltonian analyses of the model, leads to the Dirac-Pauli equation for a particle with an anomalous magnetic momentum in an external electromagnetic field. Due to the structure of first-class constraints in that case, the Dirac quantization demands for consistency to take into account an operators ordering problem.

Quantization of Spinning Particle with Anomalous Magnetic Momentum

A generalization of the pseudoclassical action of a spinning particle in the presence of an anomalous magnetic moment is given. The leading considerations, to write the action, are gotten from the path integral representation for the causal Green's function of the generalized (by Pauli) Dirac equation for the particle with anomalous magnetic momentum in an external electromagnetic field. The action can be written in reparametrization and supergauge invariant form. Both operator (Dirac) and path-integral (BFV) quantization are discussed. The first one leads to the Dirac-Pauli equation, whereas the second one gives the corresponding propagator. One of the nontrivial points in this case is that both quantizations schemes demand for consistency to take into account an operators ordering problem.

Quantization of systems with time-dependent constraints. Example of relativistic particle in plane wave

A modification of the canonical quantization procedure for systems with time-dependent second-class constraints is discussed and applied to the quantization of the relativistic particle in a plane wave. The time dependence of constraints appears in the problem in two ways. The Lagrangian depends on time explicitly by origin, and a special time-dependent gauge is used. Two possible approaches to the quantization are demonstrated in this case. One is to solve directly a system of operator equations, proposed by Tyutin and one of the authors (Gitman) as a generalization of Dirac canonical quantization in nonstationary case, and another to find first a canonical transformation, which makes it possible to discribe the dynamics in the physical sactor by means of some effective Hamiltonian. Quantum mechanics constructed in both cases proves to be equivalent to Klein-Gordon theory of the relativistic particle in a plane wave. The general conditions of unitarity of the dynamics in the physical sector are discussed.
