Update of the MCSANC Monte Carlo Integrator, v.1.20

This article presents new features of the MCSANC v.1.20 program, a Monte Carlo tool for calculation of the next-to-leading order electroweak and QCD corrections to various Standard Model processes. The extensions concern implementation of Drell--Yan-like processes and include a systematic treatment of the photon-induced contribution in proton--proton collisions and electroweak corrections beyond NLO approximation. There are also technical improvements such as calculation of the forward-backward asymmetry for the neutral current Drell--Yan process. The updated code is suitable for studies of the effects due to EW and QCD radiative corrections to Drell--Yan (and several other) processes at the LHC and for forthcoming high energy proton--proton colliders.

$J$ functions for the process ud$\to$WA

In this paper we present a description of the universal approach for analytic calculations for a certain class of $J$ functions for six topologies of the boxes for process $ud\rightarrow WA$. These functions $J$ arise at the reduction of infrared divergent box diagrams. The standard Passarino--Veltman reduction of four-point box diagram with an internal photon line connecting two external lines on the mass shell leads to infrared-divergent and mass-singular $D_0$ functions. In the system SANC a systematic procedure is adopted to separate both types of singularities into the simplest objects, namely $C_0$ functions. The functions $J$, in turn, are represented as certain linear combinations of the standard $D_0$ and $C_0$ functions. The subtracted $J$ functions are free of both types of singularities and are expressed as explicit and compact linear combinations of dilogarithm functions. We present extensive comparisons of numerical results of SANC with those obtained with the aid of the LoopTools package.

SANC system and its applications for LHC

The {\tt SANC} computer system is aimed at support of analytic and numeric calculations for experiments at colliders. The system is reviewed briefly. Recent results on high-precision description of the Drell-Yan processes at the LHC are presented. Special attention is paid to the evaluation of higher order final-state QED corrections to the single $W$ and $Z$ boson production processes. A new Monte Carlo integrator {\tt mcsanc} suited for description of a series of high-energy physics processes at the one-loop precision level is presented.

SANC integrator in the progress: QCD and EW contributions

Modules and packages for the one-loop calculations at partonic level represent the first level of SANC output computer product. The next level represents Monte Carlo integrator mcsanc, realizing fully differential hadron level calculations (convolution with PDF) for the HEP processes at LHC. In this paper we describe the implementation into the framework mcsanc first set of processes: DY NC, DY CC, ff->HW(Z) and single top production. Both EW and QCD NLO corrections are taken into account. A comparison of SANC results with those existing in the world literature is given.

Standard SANC modules for NLO QCD Radiative Corrections to Single-top Production

It this paper we present the results obtained with the newly created Standard SANC modules for calculation of the NLO QCD corrections to single top production processes in s and t channels at the partonic level, as well as top-decays. The main aim of these results is to prove the correct work of modules. A comprehensive comparison with results of the CompHEP system is given, where possible. These modules are intended to be used in Monte Carlo generators for single top production processes at the LHC. As in our recent paper, devoted to the electroweak corrections to these processes, we study the regularization of the top-legs associated infrared divergences with aid of the complex mass of the top quark. A comparison of QCD corrections with those computed by the conventional method is presented both for top production and decays. For s channel production we give an analytic proof of equivalence of the two methods in the limit of low top width.

Electroweak Radiative Corrections to Single-top Production

Radiative corrections to the single top s and t channel production processes are revisited. Complete one-loop electroweak corrections are calculated within the SANC system. New is a study of the regularisation of the top-legs associated infrared divergences with aid of the complex mass of the top quark. A comparison of these electroweak corrections with those computed by the conventional method is presented both for top production and decays. Standard FORM and FORTRAN SANC modules are created. These modules are compiled into a package sanc_cc_v1.40, which may be downloaded from SANC project homepages. Many numerical results are presented at the partonic level with the aim to demonstrate the correct working of modules. These modules are intended to be used in Monte Carlo generators for single top production at the LHC. Where possible, we compare our results with those existing in the literature; in particular, a comprehensive comparison with results of the CompHEP system is given.

J_AW,WA functions in Passarino-Veltman reduction

In this paper we continue to study a special class of Passarino-Veltman functions J arising at the reduction of infrared divergent box diagrams. We describe a procedure of separation of two types of singularities, infrared and mass singularities, which are absorbed in simple C0 functions. The infrared divergences of C0's can be regularized then by any method: photon mass, dimensionally or by the width of an unstable particle. Functions J, in turn, are represented as certain linear combinations of the standard D0 and C0 Passarino-Veltman functions. The former are free of both types of singularities and are expressed as explicit and compact linear combinations of logarithms and dilogarithm functions. We present extensive comparisons of numerical results with those obtained with the aid of the LoopTools package.

SANCnews: top decays in QCD and EW sectors

In this paper we present the results of the implementation of the decay t -> b f1 f1 into the SANC system (f1 is a massless fermion). The new aspect of the work is the combination of QCD and EW corrections. All calculations are done at the one-loop level in the Standard Model. We give a detailed account of the new procedure - the forming of a class of JAW,WA functions. These functions are related to the procedure of extraction of infra-red and mass-shell singular divergences. The emphasis of this paper is on the presentation of numerical results for various approaches: complete one-loop calculations and different versions of pole approximations.

Standard Model light-by-light scattering in SANC: analytic and numeric evaluation

In this paper we describe the implementation of the SM process $γγ\toγγ$ through a fermion and boson loops into the framework of SANC system. The computations of this process takes into account non-zero mass of loop particles. We briefly describe additional precomputation modules used for calculation of massive box diagrams. We present the covariant and helicity amplitudes for this process, some particular cases of $D_0$ and $C_0$ Passarino--Veltman functions and also numerical results of corresponding SANC module evaluation. Whenever possible, we compare the results with those existing in the literature.

Tevatron-for-LHC Report: Top and Electroweak Physics

The top quark and electroweak bosons (W and Z) represent the most massive fundamental particles yet discovered, and as such refer directly to the Standard Model's greatest remaining mystery: the mechanism by which all particles gained mass. This report summarizes the work done within the top-ew group of the Tevatron-for-LHC workshop. It represents a collection of both Tevatron results, and LHC predictions. The hope is that by considering and comparing both machines, the LHC program can be improved and aided by knowledge from the Tevatron, and that particle physics as a whole can be enriched. The report includes measurements of the top quark mass, searches for single top quark production, and physics of the electroweak bosons at hadron colliders.

Update of one-loop corrections for E+ E- --> F anti-F, first run of SANC system

We present a description of calculations of the amplitude for E+ E- --> F anti-F process with account of electroweak and QED one-loop corrections. This study is performed within the framework of the project SANC. The calculations are done within the OMS (on-mass-shell) renormalization scheme in two gauges: in Rxi, which allows an explicit control of gauge invariance by examining cancellation of gauge parameters and search for gauge-invariant subsets of diagrams, and in the unitary gauge as a cross-check. The formulae we derived are realized in two independent FORTRAN codes, eeffLib, which was written in an old fashioned way, i.e. manually, and another one, created automatically with an aid of s2n.f (symbols to numbers) software -- a part of SANC system. We present a comprehensive comparison with the results of the well-known program ZFITTER for all the light fermion production channels, as well as with the results existing in the world literature for the process E+ E- --> F anti-F;

Predictions for ${\bar ν} νγ$ Production at LEP

We study predictions for the reaction $e^+e^- \to {\bar ν} ν(n γ)$. The complete one-loop corrections are taken into account and higher order contributions, in particular those for the observed real photons, are added whenever necessary. The event generator \KK MC, a general-purpose Monte Carlo generator for the process $e^+e^- \to \bar f f nγ$ based on the method of exclusive exponentiation, is used as the environment. We extend its applicability to the process $e^+e^- \to \bar ν_l ν_l nγ$, $l=e,μ,τ$, where the observation of at least a single $γ$ is required. The exponentiation is implemented in much the same way as for the s-channel process alone. In particular, all photonic effects present in the case of W exchange, which {\it cannot} be included in the s-channel exponentiation scheme, are calculated to a finite order only. The real hard photon matrix element is calculated up to ${\cal O} ({α^2})$. Leading logarithmic contributions of the two-loop corrections and one-loop photonic corrections accompanying real single photon emission are included. The electroweak corrections are calculated with the DIZET library of the ZFITTER package. Numerical tests and predictions for typical observables are presented.

Analytic approach to the complete set of QED corrections to fermion pair production in e+e- annihilation

We present the convolution integral for fermion pair production in the electroweak standard theory to order O(alpha) including also soft photon exponentiation. The result is complete in the sense that it includes initial and final state radiation and their interference. From the basic result - analytic formulae for the differential cross section - we also derive the corresponding expressions for total cross section and integrated forward-backward asymmetry. The numerical importance of different contributions for the analysis of experiments at LEP/SLC energies is discussed.

Recent Developments in Radiative Corrections at HERA

We describe several numerical results for radiative corrections for deep inelastic $ep$ scattering at HERA which are calculated using the HECTOR package. We present radiative corrections for ten different choices of kinematical variables for unpolarized neutral and charged current deep inelastic scattering. Radiative corrections for neutral current scattering off polarized protons are calculated in leptonic variables and compared to those obtained by the POLRAD code for the kinematic regime of the HERMES experiment.

Radiative Correction Schemes in Deep Inelastic Muon Scattering

A description and a detailed comparison of the Mo and Tsai and the Dubna radiative correction schemes is presented. Numerical comparisons made in the kinematical region of the NMC high energy deep inelastic electroproduction experiment are discussed. An overall agreement between the two approaches in the region of low $x$ and high $y$, where the radiative corrections are largest, is better than 2$\%$.

Semi-Analytical Approach to Higgs Production at LEP 2

The cross-section for the reaction $e^+e^- \rightarrow b\bar{b}μ^+μ^-$ is calculated with a semi-analytical integration of the phase space. Compact formulae are obtained for the total cross section and for invariant mass distributions of the $μ^+μ^-$ and $b\bar{b}$ pairs. The background diagrams to $ZH$ production yield analytically cumbersome but numerically small contributions. The numerical results are compared with those from a Monte Carlo approach.
