A new type of bubble solutions for a Schrödinger equation with critical growth

In this paper, we investigate the following critical elliptic equation −Δu+V(y)u=uN+2N−2,  u>0,  in RN,  u∈H1(RN), -Δu+V(y)u=u^{\frac{N+2}{N-2}},\,\,u>0,\,\,\text{in}\,\R^{N},\,\,u\in H^{1}(\R^{N}), where V(y)V(y) is a bounded non-negative function in RN.\R^{N}. Assuming that V(y)=V(∣y^∣,y∗),y=(y^,y∗)∈R4×RN−4V(y)=V(|\hat{y}|,y^{*}),y=(\hat{y},y^{*})\in \R^{4}\times \R^{N-4} and gluing together bubbles with different concentration rates, we obtain new solutions provided that N≥7,N\geq 7, whose concentrating points are close to the point (r0,y0∗)(r_{0},y^{*}_{0}) which is a stable critical point of the function r2V(r,y∗)r^{2}V(r,y^{*}) satisfying r0>0r_{0}>0 and V(r0,y0∗)>0.V(r_{0},y^{*}_{0})>0. In order to construct such new bubble solutions for the above problem, we first prove a non-degenerate result for the positive multi-bubbling solutions constructed in \cite{PWY-18-JFA} by some local Pohozaev identities, which is of great interest independently. Moreover, we give an example which satisfies the assumptions we impose.

Existence, Local uniqueness and periodicity of bubbling solutions for a critical nonlinear elliptic equation

We revisit the following nonlinear critical elliptic equation \begin{equation*} -Δu+Q(y)u=u^{\frac{N+2}{N-2}},\;\;\; u>0\;\;\;\hbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation*} where N≥5.N\geq 5. There seems to be no results about the periodicity of bubbling solutions. Here we try to investigate some related problems. Assuming that Q(y)Q(y) is periodic in y1y_1 with period 1 and has a local minimum at 0 satisfying Q(0)=0,Q(0)=0, we prove the existence and local uniqueness of infinitely many bubbling solutions of the problem above. This local uniqueness result implies that some bubbling solutions preserve the symmetry of the potential function Q(y),Q(y), i.e. the bubbling solution whose blow-up set is {(jL,0,...,0):j=0,±1,±2,...,±m}\{(jL,0,...,0):j=0,\pm 1, \pm 2,..., \pm m\} must be periodic in y1y_{1} provided that LL is large enough, where mm is the number of the bubbles which is large enough but independent of L.L. Moreover, we also show a non-existence of this bubbling solutions for the problem above if the local minimum of Q(y)Q(y) does not equal to zero.

Nonstandard solutions for a perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger system with small coupling coefficients\protect\thanks{A perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger system

In this paper, we consider the following weakly coupled nonlinear Schrödinger system \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -ε^{2}Δu_1 + V_1(x)u_1 = |u_1|^{2p - 2}u_1 + β|u_1|^{p - 2}|u_2|^pu_1, & x\in \mathbb{R}^N,\\ -ε^{2}Δu_2 + V_2(x)u_2 = |u_2|^{2p - 2}u_2 + β|u_2|^{p - 2}|u_1|^pu_2, & x\in \mathbb{R}^N, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where ε>0ε>0, β∈Rβ\in\mathbb{R} is a coupling constant, 2p∈(2,2∗)2p\in (2,2^*) with 2∗=2NN−22^* = \frac{2N}{N - 2} if N≥3N\geq 3 and +∞+\infty if N=1,2N = 1,2, V1V_1 and V2V_2 belong to C(RN,[0,∞))C(\mathbb{R}^N,[0,\infty)). When p≥2p\ge 2 and β>0β>0 is suitably small, we show that the problem has a family of nonstandard solutions {wε=(uε1,uε2):0<ε<ε0}\{w_ε = (u^1_ε,u^2_ε):0<ε<ε_{0}\} concentrating synchronously at the common local minimum of V1V_1 and V2V_2. All decay rates of Vi(i=1,2)V_i(i=1,2) are admissible and we can allow that β>0β>0 is close to 00 in this paper. Moreover, the location of concentration points is given by local Pohozaev identities. Our proofs are based on variational methods and the penalized technique.

Large number of bubble solutions for a perturbed fractional Laplacian equation

This paper deals with the following nonlinear perturbed fractional Laplacian equation (−Δ)su=K(∣y′∣,y′′)uN+2sN−2s±ε,  u>0,  u∈D1,s(RN),(-Δ)^s u = K(|y'|,y'')u^{\frac{N+2s}{N-2s}\pmε},\,\,u>0,\,\,u\in D^{1,s}(\mathbb{R}^N), where 0<s<1,N≥4,0<s<1, N\geq 4, (y′,y′′)∈R2×RN−2,(y',y'')\in \mathbb{R}^2\times \mathbb{R}^{N-2}, ε>0ε>0 is a small parameter and K(y)K(y) is nonnegative and bounded. By combining a finite reduction argument and local Pohozaev type of identities, we prove that if N≥4,max⁡{N+1−N2−2N+94,3−N2−6N+132}<s<1N\geq 4,\max\{\frac{N+1-\sqrt{N^{2}-2N+9}}{4},\frac{3-\sqrt{N^{2}-6N+13}}{2}\}<s<1 and K(r,y′′)K(r,y'') has a stable critical point (r0,y0′′)(r_0, y_0'') with r0>0r_0>0 and K(r0,y0′′)>0,K(r_0, y_0'')>0, then the above problem has large number of bubble solutions if ε>0ε>0 is small enough. Also there exist solutions whose functional energy is in the order ε−N−2s−2(N−2s)2ε^{-\frac{N-2s-2}{(N-2s)^{2}}}. Here, instead of estimating directly the derivatives of the reduced functional, we apply some local Pohozaev identities to locate the concentration points of the bubble solutions. Moreover, the concentration points of the bubble solutions include a saddle point of K(y)K(y).

Uniqueness and Nondegeneracy of positive solutions to Kirchhoff equations and its applications in singular perturbation problems

In the present paper, we establish the uniqueness and nondegeneracy of positive energy solutions to the Kirchhoff equation \begin{eqnarray*} -\left(a+b\int_{\mathbb{R}^{3}}|\nabla u|^{2}\right)Δu+u=|u|^{p-1}u & & \text{in }\mathbb{R}^{3}, \end{eqnarray*} where a,b>0a,b>0, 1<p<51<p<5 are constants. Then, as applications, we derive the existence and local uniqueness of solutions to the perturbed Kirchhoff problem \begin{eqnarray*} -\left(ε^2a+εb\int_{\mathbb{R}^{3}}|\nabla u|^{2}\right)Δu+V(x)u=|u|^{p-1}u & & \text{in }\mathbb{R}^{3} \end{eqnarray*} for ε>0ε>0 sufficiently small, under some mild assumptions on the potential function V:R3→RV:\mathbb{R}^3\to \mathbb{R}. The existence result is obtained by applying the Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction method. It seems to be the first time to study singularly perturbed Kirchhoff problems by reduction method, as all the previous results were obtained by various variational methods. Another advantage of this approach is that it gives a unified proof to the perturbation problem for all p∈(1,5)p\in (1,5), which is quite different from using variational methods in the literature. The local uniqueness result is totally new. It is obtained by using a type of local Pohozaev identity, which is developed quite recently by Deng, Lin and Yan in their work "On the prescribed scalar curvature problem in RN\mathbb{R}^N, local uniqueness and periodicity." (see J. Math. Pures Appl. (9) {\bf 104}(2015), 1013-1044).

Infinitely many sign-changing solutions for an elliptic problem with double critical Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya terms

In this paper, we investigate the following elliptic problem involving double critical Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya terms: {−Δu=μ∣u∣2∗(t)−2u∣y∣t+∣u∣2∗(s)−2u∣y∣s+a(x)u,in Ω,u=0,  on ∂Ω, \left\{\begin{array}{ll} -Δu = μ\frac{|u|^{2^*(t)-2}u}{|y|^t} + \frac{|u|^{2^*(s)-2}u}{|y|^s} + a(x) u, & {\rm in}\ Ω,\\ \quad u = 0, \,\, &{\rm on}\ \partial Ω, \end{array} \right. where μ≥0μ\geq0, a(x)>0a(x)>0, 2∗(t)=2(N−t)N−22^*(t)=\frac{2(N-t)}{N-2}, 2∗(s)=2(N−s)N−22^*(s) = \frac{2(N-s)}{N-2}, 0≤t<s<20\leq t<s<2, x=(y,z)∈Rk×RN−kx = (y,z)\in \mathbb{R}^k\times \mathbb{R}^{N-k}, 2≤k<N2\leq k<N, (0,z∗)∈Ωˉ(0,z^*) \in \barΩ and ΩΩ is an bounded domain in RN\mathbb{R}^N. Applying an abstract theorem in \cite{sz}, we prove that if N>6+tN>6+t when μ>0,μ>0, and N>6+sN>6+s when μ=0,μ=0, and ΩΩ satisfies some geometric conditions, then the above problem has infinitely many sign-changing solutions. The main tool is to estimate Morse indices of these nodal solution.

Infinitely many solutions for a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with non-symmetric electromagnetic fields

In this paper, we study the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with non-symmetric electromagnetic fields (∇i−Aεx))2u+Vε(x)u=f(u), u∈H1(RN,C),\Big(\frac{\nabla}{i}-A_ε x)\Big)^2 u+V_ε(x)u=f(u),\ u\in H^1 (\mathbb{R}^N,\mathbb{C}), where Aε(x)=(Aε,1(x),Aε,2(x),⋯ ,Aε,N(x))A_ε(x)=(A_{ε,1}(x),A_{ε,2}(x),\cdots,A_{ε,N}(x)) is a magnetic field satisfying that Aε,j(x)(j=1,…,N)A_{ε,j}(x)(j=1,\ldots,N) is a real C1C^{1} bounded function on RN\mathbb{R}^{N} and Vε(x)V_ε(x) is an electric potential. Both of them satisfy some decay conditions and f(u)f(u) is a nonlinearity satisfying some nondegeneracy condition. Applying localized energy method, we prove that there exists some ε0>0ε_{0 }> 0 such that for 0<ε<ε00 < ε< ε_{0 }, the above problem has infinitely many complex-valued solutions.

Let 1<p<N1<p<N, p∗=Np/(N−p)p^{*}=Np/(N-p), 0<s<p0<s<p, p∗(s)=(N−s)p/(N−p)p^{*}(s)=(N-s)p/(N-p), and $\Om\in C^{1}$ be a bounded domain in RN\R^{N} with $0\in\bar{\Om}.$ In this paper, we study the following problem \[ \begin{cases} -Δ_{p}u=μ|u|^{p^{*}-2}u+\frac{|u|^{p^{*}(s)-2}u}{|x|^{s}}+a(x)|u|^{p-2}u, & \text{in }\Om,\\ u=0, & \text{on }\pa\Om, \end{cases} \] where μ≥0μ\ge0 is a constant, $\De_{p}$ is the pp-Laplacian operator and $a\in C^{1}(\bar{\Om})$. By an approximation argument, we prove that if N>p2+p,a(0)>0N>p^{2}+p,a(0)>0 and ΩΩ satisfies some geometry conditions if 0∈∂Ω0\in\partialΩ, say, all the principle curvatures of ∂Ω\partialΩ at 00 are negative, then the above problem has infinitely many solutions.

Infinitely many solutions to linearly coupled Schrödinger equations with non-symmetric potential

We study a linearly coupled Schrödinger system in RN(N≤3).\R^N(N\leq3). Assume that the potentials in the system are continuous functions satisfying suitable decay assumptions, but without any symmetry properties and the parameters in the system satisfy some suitable restrictions. Using the Liapunov-Schmidt reduction methods two times and combing localized energy method, we prove that the problem has infinitely many positive synchronized solutions, which extends the result Theorem 1.2 about nonlinearly coupled Schrödinger equations in \cite{aw} to our linearly coupled problem.

NODAL Vector solutions with clustered peaks for a nonlinear elliptic equations in R3\R^3

In this paper, we study the following coupled nonlinear Schrödinger system in R3\R^3 $$ \left\{% \begin{array}{ll} -ε^2Δu +P(x)u=μ_1 u^3+βv^2u,~~&x\in \R^3,\vspace{0.15cm}\\ -ε^2Δv +Q(x)v=μ_2 v^3+βu^2v,~~&x\in \R^3,\\ \end{array}% \right. $$ where μ1>0,μ2>0μ_1 >0,μ_2>0 and β∈Rβ\in \R is a coupling constant. Whether the system is repulsive or attractive, we prove that it has nodal semi-classical segregated or synchronized bound states with clustered spikes for sufficiently small εε under some additional conditions on P(x),Q(x)P(x), Q(x) and ββ. Moreover, the number of this type of solutions will go to infinity as ε→0+ε\to 0^+.
