Directed flow in relativistic resistive magneto-hydrodynamic expansion for symmetric and asymmetric collision systems

We construct a dynamical model for high-energy heavy-ion collision based on the relativistic resistive magneto-hydrodynamic framework. Using our newly developed (3+1)-dimensional relativistic resistive magneto-hydrodynamics code, we investigate magneto-hydrodynamic expansion in symmetric and asymmetric collision systems as a first application to high-energy heavy-ion collisions. As a realistic initial condition for electromagnetic fields, we consider the solutions of the Maxwell equations with the source term of point charged particles moving in the direction of the beam axis, including finite constant electrical conductivity of the medium. We evaluate the directed flow in the symmetric and asymmetric collisions at RHIC energy. We find a significant effect of finite electrical conductivity on the directed flow in the asymmetric collision system. We confirm that a certain amount of energy transfer by dissipation associated with Ohmic conduction occurs in the asymmetric collision system because of asymmetry of the electric field produced by two different colliding nuclei. Because this energy transfer makes the pressure gradient of the medium flatter, the growth of directed flow decreases.

Dynamically Integrated Transport Approach for High-Energy Nuclear Collisions at High Baryon Density

To explore the structure of the QCD phase diagram in high baryon density domain, several high-energy nuclear collision experiments in a wide range of beam energies are currently performed or planned using many accelerator facilities. In these experiments search for a first-order phase transition and the QCD critical point is one of the most important topics. To find the signature of the phase transition, experimental data should be compared to appropriate dynamical models which quantitatively describe the process of the collisions. In this study we develop a new dynamical model on the basis of the non-equilibrium hadronic transport model JAM and 3+1D hydrodynamics. We show that the new model reproduce well the experimental beam-energy dependence of hadron yields and particle ratio by the partial thermalization of the system in our core-corona approach.

The mass of heavy-light mesons in a constituent quark picture with partially restored chiral symmetry

We probe effects of the partial chiral symmetry restoration to the mass of heavy-light mesons in a constituent quark model by changing the constituent quark mass of the light quark. Due to the competing effect between the quark mass and the linearly rising potential, whose contribution to the energy increases as the quark mass decreases, the heavy-light meson mass has a minimum value near the constituent quark mass typically used in the vacuum. Hence, the meson mass increases as one decreases the constituent quark mass consistent with recent QCD sum rule analyses, which show an increasing $D$ meson mass as the chiral order parameter decreases.

Lattice QCD study of four-quark components of the isosinglet scalar mesons: Significance of disconnected diagrams

We study the possible significance of four-quark states in the iso-singlet scalar mesons ($J^{PC}=0^{++}$, $I=0$) by performing two-flavor full lattice QCD simulations on an $8^3 \times 16$ lattice using the improved gauge action and the clover-improved Wilson quark action. In particular, we evaluate the propagators of molecular and tetra-quark operators together with singly disconnected diagrams. In the computation of the singly disconnected diagrams we employ the $Z_2$-noise method with the truncated eigenmode approach. We show that the quark loops given by the disconnected diagrams play an essential role in propagators of tetraquark and molecular operators.

A new scheme of causal viscous hydrodynamics for relativistic heavy-ion collisions: A Riemann solver for quark-gluon plasma

In this article, we present a state-of-the-art algorithm for solving the relativistic viscous hydrodynamics equation with the QCD equation of state. The numerical method is based on the second-order Godunov method and has less numerical dissipation, which is crucial in describing of quark-gluon plasma in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. We apply the algorithm to several numerical test problems such as sound wave propagation, shock tube and blast wave problems. In sound wave propagation, the intrinsic numerical viscosity is measured and its explicit expression is shown, which is the second-order of spatial resolution both in the presence and absence of physical viscosity. The expression of the numerical viscosity can be used to determine the maximum cell size in order to accurately measure the effect of physical viscosity in the numerical simulation.

Analysis of the scalar mesons on the Lattice

We study the possibility that the scalar mesons exist as four-quark states. The energy shift of two pseudoscalar mesons as a function of spatial lattice size makes a distinction between bound states and scattering states of four-quark states. We calculate the four-quark state in the quenched approximation, ignoring the two-quark annihilation diagrams and the vacuum channels. We perform a calculation of pseudoscalar meson scattering amplitudes, using N_f=2 Wilson fermion and plaquette/Iwasaki gauge actions. We obtain the indication that the four-quark states in the case of the isospin zero (I=0) and two (I=2) channels are no bound states. And we find that the bound energy depends strongly on pion mass rather than the ratio of pion mass to rho meson mass.

Modeling a Realistic Dynamical Model for High Energy Heavy Ion Collisions

In this article, we outline the modeling of a realistic dynamical model for comprehensive description of high energy heavy ion collisions. Comparing theoretical calculations and experimental data at RHIC, we give detailed discussions on the key ingredients for the construction of a multi-module model: initial condition, hydrodynamical expansion, hadronization, and freezeout processes.

Evaluating Results from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider with Perturbative QCD and Hydrodynamics

We review the basic concepts of perturbative quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and relativistic hydrodynamics, and their applications to hadron production in high energy nuclear collisions. We discuss results from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) in light of these theoretical approaches. Perturbative QCD and hydrodynamics together explain a large amount of experimental data gathered during the first decade of RHIC running, although some questions remain open. We focus primarily on practical aspects of the calculations, covering basic topics like perturbation theory, initial state nuclear effects, jet quenching models, ideal hydrodynamics, dissipative corrections, freeze-out and initial conditions. We conclude by comparing key results from RHIC to calculations.

Masses of vector bosons in two-color dense QCD based on the hidden local symmetry

We construct a low energy effective Lagrangian for the two-color QCD including the "vector" bosons (mesons with J^P=1^- and diquark baryons with J^P=1^+) in addition to the pseudo Nambu-Goldstone bosons with a degenerate mass M_π(mesons with J^P=0^- and baryons with J^P=0^+) based on the chiral symmetry breaking pattern of SU(2N_f) \to Sp(2N_f) in the framework of the hidden local symmetry. We investigate the dependence of the "vector" boson masses on the baryon number density μ_B. We show that the μ_B-dependence signals the phase transition of U(1)_B breaking. We find that it gives information about mixing among "vector" bosons: e.g. the mass difference between ρand ωmesons is proportional to the mixing strength between the diquark baryon with J^P=1^+ and the anti-baryon. We discuss the comparison with lattice data for two-color QCD at finite density.

Evaluation of Israel-Stewart parameters in lattice gauge theory

Navier-Stokes equations are known as hydrodynamic equations which take account of effects of dissipations. There are, however, problems in the relativistic Navier-Stokes equations, i.e. the equations violate causality. Israel-Stewart equations, which evade the problems of Navier-Stokes equations by introducing new parameters, such as the relaxation times, have recently been used in describing the space-time evolution of the quark-gluon plasma produced in high energy heavy ion collisions. The viscosities and the relaxation times are related to each other by imposing entropy constraints on the system. According to Boltzmann-Einstein principle, the probability distribution of the fluctuation in the energy-momentum tensor is related to the entropy of the system. Applying this principle to the entropy in Israel-Stewart theory, one can obtain the ratios of the viscosities to the relaxation times. We evaluate the ratios of the viscosities to the relaxation times in SU(3) lattice gauge theory.

Hadronization via Recombination

The recombination model as a model for hadronization from a quark-gluon plasma has been recently revived since it has advantages in explaining several important features of the final state produced in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC, such as the constituent quark number scaling of the elliptic coefficient versus the transverse energy of identified hadrons, the bending shape of the $p_T$ spectrum of hadrons near 5 GeV/c, and the measured large value of baryon to meson ratio(of the order of unity) in the same $p_T$ range. We have developed a dynamic simulation model of heavy-ion collisions in which a quark-gluon plasma, starting from a certain initial condition, evolves hydrodynamically until it reaches the phase boundary, and then hadronizes by valence quark recombination. Rescattering after hadronization is described by UrQMD. We discuss some details of the model and report first, preliminary results.

Elliptic flow of multi-strange particles: fragmentation, recombination and hydrodynamics

We study the elliptic flow $v_2$ of multi-strange hadrons such as the $ϕ$, $Ξ$ and $Ω$ as a function of transverse momentum in the recombination and fragmentation model and compare to a standard hydrodynamic calculation. We find that the measurement of $v_2$ for the $ϕ$ and $Ω$ will allow for the unambiguous distinction between parton recombination and statistical hadro-chemistry to be the dominant process in hadronization at intermediate transverse momenta.

Behavior of Hadrons at Finite Density -- Lattice Study of Color SU(2) QCD

Using two-color lattice QCD with Wilson fermions, we report a study of the finite baryon number density system with two-flavors. First we investigate the Polyakov line and thermodynamical uantities in the $(κ,μ)$ plane, where $κ$ and $μ$ are the hopping parameter and chemical potential in the fermion action, respectively. Then we calculate propagators of meson ($\bar{q}Γq$) and baryon ($qΓq$) states. We find that the vector meson propagators are strongly modified in large $μ$ regions, indicating the reduction of the mass. This anomalous behavior of the vector meson is observed for the first time in lattice QCD.

Hydrodynamical analysis of hadronic spectra in the 130 GeV/nucleon Au+Au collisions

We study one-particle spectra and a two-particle correlation function in the 130 GeV/nucleon Au+Au collisions at RHIC by making use of a hydrodynamical model. We calculate the one-particle hadronic spectra and present the first analysis of Bose-Einstein correlation functions based on the numerical solution of the hydrodynamical equations which takes both longitudinal and transverse expansion into account appropriately. The hydrodynamical model provides excellent agreement with the experimental data in the pseudorapidity and the transverse momentum spectra of charged hadrons, the rapidity dependence of anti-proton to proton ratio, and almost consistent result for the pion Bose-Einstein correlation functions. Our numerical solution with simple freeze-out picture suggests the formation of the quark-gluon plasma with large volume and low net-baryon density.

Lattice study of "f$_{0}$(600) or $σ$"

We investigate the propagator of "f$_{0}$(600) or the $σ$" by the full-QCD simulation with Wilson fermions. We calculate the mesonic correlator in the I=0, $J^P=0^{+}$ channel on the $8^{3} \times 16$ lattice. Plaquet action and Wilson fermion action are adopted. A coupling constant $β$ is set to 4.8 and three kinds of hopping parameter, $κ$=0.1846, 0.1874 and 0.1891 are assayed. The disconnected diagram in the propagator is evaluated through taking average over 500 or 1000 Z2 noise. Simulations with the larger hopping parameter provide us with less noisy results. Though the statistics is not yet enough, our results indicate the existence of a pole with a mass in almost the same order as that of the $ρ$.

(3+1)-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamical expansion of hot and dense matter in ultra-relativistic nuclear collision

A full (3+1)-dimensional calculation using the Lagrangian hydrodynamics is proposed for relativistic nuclear collisions. The calculation enables us to evaluate anisotropic flow of hadronic matter which appears in non-central and/or asymmetrical relativistic nuclear collisions. Applying hydrodynamical calculations to the deformed uranium collisions at AGS energy region, we discuss the nature of space-time structure and particle distributions in detail.

Two-particle correlation from a relativistic fluid with a first order phase transition

We numerically calculate two-particle correlation functions of CERN-SPS 158 A GeV Pb+Pb central collisions based on a (3+1)-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamics with a first order phase transition. We analyze the pair momentum dependence of pion source sizes extracted from the Yano-Koonin-Podgoretski\uı (YKP) parametrization which is expected to give the source sizes directly. We find that, even in the case of the first order phase transition, the collective expansion and surface dominant freeze-out of the fluid naturally lead to the opaque source for which the interpretation of the temporal source parameter as the emission duration breaks down.
