Just some simple (but nontrivial) analytical solutions for de Broglie-Bohm quantum cosmology

In this work, we provide some simple analytical solutions to the Wheeler-DeWitt equation for the minisuperspace applied to de Broglie-Bohmian quantum cosmology for particular potentials of a scalar matter field $ϕ$. One solution describes a constantly rolling scalar field with a quadratic potential plus a negative cosmological constant. The scale factor is given by a Gaussian function. The other solution describes a flat Minkowski universe with the potential of a hilltop form.

Inflaton as the Affleck-Dine Baryogenesis Field in Hilltop Supernatural Inflation

In this paper, we investigate the parameter space in the framework of hilltop supernatural inflation in which the inflaton field can play the role of Affleck-Dine field to produce successful baryogenesis. The suitable value of reheating temperature could coincide with the reheating temperature required to produce lightest supersymmetric particle dark matter. The baryon isocurvature perturbation is shown to be negligible. We consider $p=3$, $p=4$, and $p=6$ type III hilltop inflation and discuss how to connect the models to supersymmetric theories.

Topological Eternal Hilltop Inflation and the Swampland Criteria

The swampland criteria put significant constraints on inflation models. In this paper, I show that hilltop inflation on the brane may provide an initial condition for hilltop inflation and produce topological eternal inflation without violating the swampland distance and refined de Sitter criteria. This shows a way that string theory may not be incompatible with eternal inflation.

What we can learn from the spectral index of the tensor mode

If the beginning of inflation is defined at the moment when the vacuum energy of the inflaton starts to dominate, the energy density of the other fields at that moment is (by definition) comparable to the inflaton. Although the fraction will be small at the horizon exit due to the inflationary expansion, they can alter the scale dependence of the spectrum. At the same time, velocity of the inflaton field may not coincide with the slow-roll (attractor) velocity. Those dynamics could be ubiquitous but can easily alter the scale dependence of the spectrum. Since the scale dependence is currently used to constrain or even exclude inflation models, it is very important to measure its shift, which is due to the dynamics that does not appear in the original inflation model. Considering typical examples, we show that the spectral index of the tensor mode is a useful measure of such effect. Precise measurement of the higher runnings of the scalar mode will be helpful in discriminating the source.

Distinguishing between Extra Natural Inflation and Natural Inflation after BICEP2

In this paper, we carefully calculated the tensor-to-scalar ratio, the running spectral index, and the running of running spectrum for (extra) natural inflation in order to compare with recent BICEP2 data, PLANCK satellite data and future 21 cm data. We discovered that the prediction for running spectral index and the running of running spectrum in natural inflation is different from that in the case of extra natural inflation. Near future observation for the running spectral index may achieve enough accuracy to allow us distinguishing between extra natural inflation from natural inflation. Distinguishing the models by using the running of running spectrum is not impossible but would be more challenging for future experiments.

Hilltop Supernatural Inflation and SUSY Unified Models

In this paper, we consider high scale (100 TeV) supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking and realize the idea of hilltop supernatural inflation in concrete particle physics models based on flipped-SU(5) and Pati-Salam models in the framework of supersymmetric grand unified theories (SUSY GUTs). The inflaton can be a flat direction including right-handed sneutrino and the waterfall field is a GUT Higgs. The spectral index is $n_s=0.96$ which fits very well with recent data by PLANCK satellite. There is no both thermal and non-thermal gravitino problems. Non-thermal leptogenesis can be resulted from the decay of right-handed sneutrino which plays (part of) the role of inflaton.

Scale-dependent CMB asymmetry from primordial configuration

We demonstrate that a topological defect can explain the hemispherical power asymmetry of the CMB. The first point is that a defect configuration, which already exists prior to inflation, can source asymmetry of the CMB. The second point is that modulation mechanisms, such as the curvaton and other modulation mechanisms, can explain scale-dependence of the asymmetry. Using a simple analysis of the $δN$ formalism, we show models in which scale-dependent hemispherical power asymmetry is explained by primordial configuration of a defect.

Delta-N Formalism for Curvaton with Modulated Decay

In this paper, the curvature perturbation generated by the modulated curvaton decay is studied by a direct application of $δN$-formalism. Our method has a sharp contrast with the {\it non-linear formalism} which may be regarded as an indirect usage of $δN$-formalism. We first show that our method can readily reproduce results in previous works of modulation of curvaton. Then we move on to calculate the case where the curvaton mass (and hence also the decay rate) is modulated. The method can be applied to the calculation of the modulation in the freezeout model, in which the heavy species are considered instead of the curvaton. Our method explains curvaton and various modulation on an equal footing.

Large non-Gaussianity generated after D-term Inflation by Right-Handed Sneutrino Curvaton

In this paper, we consider large non-Gaussianity generated after D-term inflation in the case that the adiabatic curvature perturbation produced is dominated by a right-handed (RH) sneutrino curvaton. The cosmic string problem can also be evaded with around 10% contribution to the CMB power spectrum and the spectral index $n_s \simeq 1$. The non-Gaussianity produced can be as large as $10<f_{NL}<100$ for the right-handed sneutrino mass being around $m_Φ=10 {GeV}$ with the Yukawa coupling $λ_ν\sim 10^{-10}$. In this case, the lightest neutrino mass is $10^{-10}{eV}$ which favors RH sneutrino leptogenesis.

Passive Curvaton

We propose a class of curvaton models which we call passive curvaton. In this paper, two kinds of passive curvaton is considered. The first one is a pseudoscalar curvaton couples to a gauge field. Different from the inflaton case, the constraint from formation of primordial black holes (PBHs) is much weaker and large non-gaussianity (of the equiliteral type) can be produced. The second model is a dilaton-like scalar curvaton couples to a gauge field. We investigate the scale dependence of non-gaussianity in this model. In both models, the spectrum and non-Gaussianity are enhanced by the slow-roll parameter of the curvaton field. Other possible passive curvaton models are also mentioned.

Primordial Black Holes from Passive Density Fluctuations

In this paper, we show that if passive fluctuations are considered, primordial black holes (PBHs) can be easily produced in the framework of single-field, slow-roll inflation models. The formation of PBHs is due to the blue spectrum of passive fluctuations and an enhancement of the spectral range which exits horizon near the end of inflation. Therefore the PBHs are light with masses $\lesssim 10^{15}g$ depending on the number of e-folds when the scale of our observable universe leaves horizon. These PBHs are likely to have evaporated and cannot be a candidate for dark matter but they may still affect the early universe.

preprint2013arXiv

Primordial Black Holes from the inflating curvaton

The primordial black hole (PBH) formation is studied in light of the inflating curvaton. The typical scale of the PBH formation is determined by curvaton inflation, which may generate PBH with $10^{14}\mathrm{g}\le M_\mathrm{PBH}\le 10^{38}\mathrm{g}$ when curvaton inflation gives the number of e-foldings $5\leq N_2\leq 38$. The non-Gaussianity of the inflating curvaton does not prevent the PBH formation.

Affleck-Dine baryogenesis in inflating curvaton scenario with O($10-10^2$TeV) mass moduli curvaton

We study the Affleck-Dine (AD) baryogenesis in the inflating curvaton scenario, when the curvaton is a moduli field with O($10-10^2$TeV) mass. A moduli field with such mass is known to be free from the Polonyi problem, and furthermore its decay products can explain the present cold dark matter abundance. In our scenario, it further explains the primordial curvature perturbation and the present baryon density all together. The current observational bound on the baryon isocurvature perturbation, which severely constrains the AD baryogenesis with the original oscillating moduli curvaton scenario, is shown to put practically negligible constraint if we replace the oscillating curvaton with the inflating curvaton.

Non-Gaussianity from two right-handed sneutrino curvaton decays

In this paper, we consider the effect of two right-handed sneutrino curvaton decays and investigate the parameter space. We compare the difference of the result between single- and two-curvaton cases. We find one Yukawa coupling of the right-handed snetrinos can be as large as $λ\sim 0.1$ while the other one is much smaller which is consistent with the idea that only one generation of the neutrino mass may be much smaller than others. When the curvatons decay, we assume both of them subdominate the energy density of the universe. We find that, unlike a single curvaton case, here a small or negative, as well as a large $f_{NL}$ can be generated.

Bimodal/Schizophrenic Neutrino As a Bridge between Inflation and Dark Energy

We consider the possibility to combine inflection point inflation and growing neutrino dark energy in a particular setup of bimodal/schizophrenic neutrino model in the framework of MSSM$\otimes U(1)_{B-L}$. In order to obtain a varying neutrino mass, we make an assumption that a soft mass of $\tilde{Z'}_{BL}$ depends on a scalar field which plays the role of a cosmon field. We also investigate the possible effects of the cosmon field in the early universe such as modulated reheating and found that the induced density perturbation is negligible.

Kinematically Blocked Curvaton

In this paper, we investigate the idea that the decay of a curvaton is kinematically blocked and show that the coupling constant for curvaton decay can be as large as ${\cal O}(1)$. We also find in this case the lower bound of the Hubble parameter at horizon exit from big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) is $H_\ast \gae 7.2 \times 10^{-9}M_P \sim 10^{10} {GeV}$. Similar to conventional curvaton scenario, the nonlinear parameter can be as large as $f_{NL}=100$.

Hilltop Supernatural Inflation and Gravitino Problem

In this paper, we explore the parameter space of hilltop supernatural inflation model and show the regime within which there is no gravitino problem even if we consider both thermal and nonthermal production mechanisms. We make plots for the allowed reheating temperature as a function of gravitino mass by constraints from big-bang nucleosynthesis. We also plot the constraint when gravitino is assumed to be stable and plays the role of dark matter.

Inflaton versus Curvaton in Higher Dimensional Gauge Theories

We construct a model of cosmological inflation and perturbation based on the higher-dimensional gauge theory. The inflaton and curvaton are the scalar fields arising from the extra space components of the gauge field living in more than four dimensions. We take the six-dimensional (6D) Yang-Mills theory compactified on $T^2$ as a toy model, and apply the one-loop effective potential of the inflaton and the curvaton to the curvaton scenario. We have found that the curvaton is subdominant for the linear curvature perturbation, but that a significant non-Gaussianity and a sizable tensor to scalar ratio are generated.

Comments on SUSY inflation models on the brane

In this paper we consider a class of inflation models on the brane where the dominant part of the inflaton scalar potential does not depend on the inflaton field value during inflation. In particular, we consider supernatural inflation, its hilltop version, A-term inflation, and supersymmetric (SUSY) D- and F-term hybrid inflation on the brane. We show that the parameter space can be broadened, the inflation scale generally can be lowered, and still possible to have the spectral index $n_s=0.96$.

Reducing the Spectral Index in Supernatural Inflation

Supernatural inflation is an attractive model based just on a flat direction with soft SUSY breaking mass terms in the framework of supersymmetry. The beauty of the model is inferred from its name that the model needs no fine-tuning. However, the prediction of the spectral index is $n_s \gae 1$, in contrast to experimental data. In this paper, we show that the beauty of supernatural inflation with the spectral index reduced to $n_s=0.96$ without any fine-tuning, by considering the general feature that a flat direction is lifted by a non-renormalizable term with an A-term.

Right-Handed Sneutrino Curvaton and non-Gaussianity

In this paper, we explore the parameter space for a Right-Handed (RH) sneutrino curvaton that can generate large non-Gaussianity without assuming any particular inflation sector. The mass of the RH sneutrino is suggested from a discussion on the initial condition of the curvaton field. It is shown that a small Yukawa coupling is generally required for a successful RH sneutrino curvaton. However, the Yukawa coupling can be larger if we consider the braneworld scenario. Some general discussion about the spectral index in curvaton scenario is also provided.

Super Hilltop Inflation

In this paper, we consider logarithmic radiative corrections and higher order terms to the supersymmetric hilltop F- and D-term hybrid inflation models. Conventional F- and D-term hybrid inflation only predicts $n_s \gae 0.98$. We show that via a positive quadratic and a negative quartic correction the spectral index can be reduced to $n_s=0.96$ suggested from latest WMAP result and also cosmic string problem appeared in SUSY hybrid inflation can be solved with mild tuning of the parameters if $κ\lae 0.01$ for F-term inflation and $g \lae 0.05$ for D-term inflation.

preprint2009arXiv

Supernatural A-term Inflation

Following \cite{Lin:2009yt}, we explore the parameter space of the case when the supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking scale is lower, for example, in gauge mediated SUSY breaking model. During inflation, the form of the potential is $V_0$ plus MSSM (MSSM stands for Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model) (or A term (It is called A-term inflation when the inflaton field is any direction (gauge or singlet) that generates an A-term.)) inflation. We show that the model works for a wide range of the potential $V_0$ with the soft SUSY breaking mass $m\sim O(1)$ TeV. The implication to MSSM (or A-term) inflation is that the flat directions which is lifted by the non-renormalizable terms described by the superpotential $W=λ_p ϕ^{p-1}/M^{p-3}_P$ with $p=4$ and $p=5$ are also suitable to be an inflaton field for $λ_p=O(1)$ provided there is an additional false vacuum term $V_0$ with appropriate magnitude. The flat directions corresponds to $p=6$ also works for $0 \lae V_0/M_P^4 \lae 10^{-40}$.
