We show that there is a SLn-stable closed subset of an affine Schubert variety in the infinite dimensional Flag variety (associated to the Kac-Moody group SLn) which is a natural compactification of the cotangent bundle to the finite-dimensional Flag variety SLn/B.
In this paper we construct free resolutions of certain class of closed subvarieties of affine spaces (the so-called "opposite big cells" of Grassmannians). Our class covers the determinantal varieties, whose resolutions were first constructed by A. Lascoux (Adv. Math., 1978). Our approach uses the geometry of Schubert varieties. An interesting aspect of our work is its connection to the computation of the cohomology of homogeneous bundles (that are not necessarily completely reducible) on partial flag varieties.
Let X be an irreducible smooth projective algebraic curve of genus g≥2 over the ground field $\bc$ and let G be a semisimple simply connected algebraic group. The aim of this paper is to introduce the notion of semistable and stable parahoric torsors under a certain Bruhat-Tits group scheme G and construct the moduli space of semistable parahoric G--torsors; we also identify the underlying topological space of this moduli space with certain spaces of homomorphisms of Fuchsian groups into a maximal compact subgroup of G. The results give a generalization of the earlier results of Mehta and Seshadri on parabolic vector bundles. This is the final version of the accepted paper.
We give another proof that a reductive algebraic group is geometrically reductive. We show that a quotient of the semi-stable locus (by a linear action of a reductive algebraic group on a projective scheme) exists, and from this Haboush's Theorem (Mumford's Conjecture) follows.
