Quasi-simple modules and Loewy lengths in modular representations of reductive Lie algebras

Let $\frak g$ be a reductive Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>0$. In this paper, we study the representations of $\frak g$ with a $p$-character $χ$ of standard Levi form associated with a given subset $I$ of the simple root system $Π$ of $\frak g$. Let $U_χ({\frak g})$ be the reduced enveloping algebra of $\frak g$. A notion "quasi-simple module" (denoted by $\mathcal L_χ(λ)$) is introduced. The properties of such a module turn out to be better than those of the corresponding simple module $\widehat L_χ(λ)$. It enables us to investigate the $U_χ({\frak g})$-modules from a new point of view, and correspondingly gives rise new consequences. First, we show that the first self extension of $\mathcal L_χ(λ)$ is zero, and the projective dimension of $\mathcal L_χ(λ)$ is finite when $λ$ is $p$-regular. These properties make it significant to rewrite the formula of Lusztig's Hope (Lusztig's conjecture on the irreducible characters in the category of $U_χ({\frak g})$-modules) by replacing $\widehat L_χ(λ)$ by $\mathcal L_χ(λ)$. Second, with the aid of quasi-simple modules, we get a formula on the Loewy lengths of standard modules and proper standard modules over $U_χ({\frak g})$. And by studying some examples, we formulate some conjectures on the Loewy lengths of indecomposable projective $\frak g$-modules, standard modules and proper standard modules.

On Chevalley restriction theorem for semi-reductive algebraic groups and its applications

An algebraic group is called semi-reductive if it is a semi-direct product of a reductive subgroup and the unipotent radical. Such a semi-reductive algebraic group naturally arises and also plays a key role in the study of modular representations of non-classical finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras in positive characteristic, and some other cases. Let $G$ ba a connected semi-reductive algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $\mathbb{F}$ and $\mathfrak{g}=Lie(G)$. It turns out that $G$ has many same properties as reductive groups, such as the Bruhat decomposition. In this note, we obtain an analogue of classical Chevalley restriction theorem for $\mathfrak{g}$, which says that the $G$-invariant ring $\mathbb{F}[\mathfrak{g}]^G$ is a polynomial ring if $\mathfrak{g}$ satisfies a certain "posivity" condition suited for lots of cases we are interested in. As applications, we further investigate the nilpotent cones and resolutions of singularities for semi-reductive Lie algebras.

Centers and Azumaya loci of finite $W$-algebras

In this paper, we study the center $Z$ of the finite $W$-algebra $\mathcal{T}(\mathfrak{g},e)$ associated with a semi-simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ over an algebraically closed field $\mathds{k}$ of characteristic $p\gg0$, and an arbitrarily given nilpotent element $e\in\mathfrak{g}$. We obtain an analogue of Veldkamp's theorem on the center. For the maximal spectrum $\text{Specm}(Z)$, we show that its Azumaya locus coincides with its smooth locus of smooth points. The former locus reflects irreducible representations of maximal dimension for $\mathcal{T}(\mathfrak{g},e)$.

Super formal Daboux-Weinstein theorem and finite W superalgebra

Let $\vvv=\vvv_{\bar{0}}+\vvv_{\bar{1}}$ be a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded (super) vector space with an even $\mathbb{C}^{\times}$-action and $χ\in \vvv_{\bar{0}}^{*}$ be a fixed point of the induced action. In this paper we will prove a equivariant Daboux-Weinstein theorem for the formal polynomial algebras $\hat{A}=S[\vvv_{\bar{0}}]^{\wedge_χ}\otimes \bigwedge(\vvv_{\bar{1}})$. We also give a quantum version of the equivariant Daboux-Weinstein theorem. Let $\ggg=\ggg_{\bar{0}}+\ggg_{\bar{1}}$ a basic Lie superalgebra of type I and $e \in \ggg_{\bar{0}}$ be a nilpotent element. We will use the equivariant quantum Daboux-Weinstein theorem to realize the finite $W$ superalgebra $\mathcal{U}(\ggg,e)$. An indirect relation between finite U(g,e) and U(g_{\bar{0}} ,e) is presented. Finally we will use this realization to study the finite dimensional representations of $\mathcal{U}(\ggg,e)$.

Minimal W-superalgebras and modular representations of basic Lie superalgebras

Let $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{g}_{\bar 0}+\mathfrak{g}_{\bar 1}$ be a basic Lie superalgebra over $\mathbb{C}$, and $e$ a minimal nilpotent element in $\mathfrak{g}_{\bar 0}$. Set $W_χ'$ to be the refined $W$-superalgebra associated with the pair $(\mathfrak{g},e)$, which is called a minimal $W$-superalgebra. In this paper we present a set of explicit generators of minimal $W$-superalgebras and the commutators between them. In virtue of this, we show that over an algebraically closed field $\mathds{k}$ of characteristic $p\gg0$, the lower bounds of dimensions in the modular representations of basic Lie superalgebras with minimal nilpotent $p$-characters are attainable. Such lower bounds are indicated in \cite{WZ} as the super Kac-Weisfeiler property.

Centers of universal enveloping algebras of Lie superalgebras in prime characteristic

Let $\ggg=\ggg_\bz+\ggg_\bo$ be a basic classical Lie superalgebra over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p>2$, and $G$ be an algebraic supergroup satisfying $\Lie(G)=\ggg$, with the purely even subgroup $G_\ev$ which is a reductive group. The center $\cz:=\cz(\ggg)$ of the universal enveloping algebra of $\ggg$ easily turns out to be a domain. In this paper, we prove that the quotient field of $\cz$ coincides with that of the subalgebra generated by the $G_{\ev}$-invariant ring $\cz^{G_\ev}$ of $\cz$ and the $p$-center $\cz_0$ of $U(\ggg_\bz)$.

Normality of Orthogonal and Sympletic Nilpotent Orbit Closures in Positive Characteristic

In this note we investigate the normality of closures of orthogonal and symplectic nilpotent orbits in positive characteristic. We prove that the closure of such a nilpotent orbit is normal provided that neither type d nor type e minimal irreducible degeneration occurs in the closure, and conversely if the closure is normal, then any type e minimal irreducible degeneration does not occur in it. Here, the minimal irreducible degenerations of a nilpotent orbit are introduced by W. Hesselink in [6] (or see [11] from which we take Table 1 for the complete list of all minimal irreducible degenerations). Our result is a weak version in positive characteristic of [11, Theorem 16.2(ii)], one of the main results of [11] over complex numbers.

A criterion for irreducibility of parabolic baby Verma modules of reductive Lie algebras

Let $G$ be a connected, reductive algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$ of prime characteristic $p$ and $\mathfrak{g}=Lie(G)$. In this paper, we study representations of $\mathfrak{g}$ with a $p$-character $χ$ of standard Levi form. When $\mathfrak{g}$ is of type $A_n, B_n, C_n$ or $D_n$, a sufficient condition for the irreducibility of standard parabolic baby Verma $\mathfrak{g}$-modules is obtained. This partially answers a question raised by Friedlander and Parshall in [Friedlander E. M. and Parshall B. J., Deformations of Lie algebra representations, Amer. J. Math. 112 (1990), 375-395]. Moreover, as an application, in the special case that $\mathfrak{g}$ is of type $A_n$ or $B_n$, and $χ$ lies in the sub-regular nilpotent orbit, we recover a result of Jantzen in [Jantzen J. C., Subregular nilpotent representations of $sl_n$ and $so_{2n+1}$, Math. Proc. Cambridge Philos. Soc. 126 (1999), 223-257].

Finite $W$-superalgebras and the dimensional lower bounds for the representations of basic Lie superalgebras

In this paper we formulate a conjecture about the minimal dimensional representations of the finite $W$-superalgebra $U(\mathfrak{g}_\bbc,e)$ over the field of complex numbers and demonstrate it with examples including all the cases of type $A$. Under the assumption of this conjecture, we show that the lower bounds of dimensions in the modular representations of basic Lie superalgebras are attainable. Such lower bounds, as a super-version of Kac-Weisfeiler conjecture, were formulated by Wang-Zhao in \cite{WZ} for the modular representations of a basic Lie superalgebra ${\ggg}_{\bbk}$ over an algebraically closed field $\bbk$ of positive characteristic $p$.

Finite W-superalgebras for basic classical Lie superalgebras

We consider the finite W-superalgebras for a basic classical Lie superalgebra g associated with an even nilpotent element in g both over the field of complex numbers field and and over a filed of positive characteristic. We present the PBW theorem for these finite W-superalgebrfas. Then we formulate a conjecture about the minimal dimensional representations of of complex finite W-superalgebras, and demonstrate it with some examples. Under the assumption that the conjecture holds, we finally show that the lower bound of dimensions predicted in the super version of Kac-Weisfeiler conjecture formulated and proved by Wang-Zhao in [40] for the modular representations of the basic classical Lie superalgebra with any p-characters can be reached.

Finite W-superalgebras for basic Lie superalgebras

We consider the finite $W$-superalgebra $U(\mathfrak{g_\bbf},e)$ for a basic Lie superalgebra ${\ggg}_\bbf=(\ggg_\bbf)_\bz+(\ggg_\bbf)_\bo$ associated with a nilpotent element $e\in (\ggg_\bbf)_{\bar0}$ both over the field of complex numbers $\bbf=\mathbb{C}$ and over $\bbf={\bbk}$ an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic. In this paper, we mainly present the PBW theorem for $U({\ggg}_\bbf,e)$. Then the construction of $U({\ggg}_\bbf,e)$ can be understood well, which in contrast with finite $W$-algebras, is divided into two cases in virtue of the parity of $\text{dim}\,\mathfrak{g_\bbf}(-1)_{\bar1}$. This observation will be a basis of our sequent work on the dimensional lower bounds in the super Kac-Weisfeiler property of modular representations of basic Lie superalgebras (cf. \cite[\S7-\S9]{ZS}).

On Kac-Weisfeiler modules for general and special linear Lie superalgebras

Let $\ggg:=\gl_{m|n}$ be a general linear Lie superalgebra over an algebraically closed field $\mathds{k}=\overline{\mathbb{F}}_p$ of characteristic $p>2$. A module of $\ggg$ is said to be of Kac-Weisfeiler if its dimension coincides with the dimensional lower bound in the super Kac-Weisfeiler property presented by Wang-Zhao in \cite{WZ}. In this paper, we verify the existence of the Kac-Weisfeiler modules for $\gl_{m|n}$. We also establish the corresponding consequence for the special linear Lie superalgebras $\mathfrak{sl}_{m|n}$ with restrictions $p>2$ and $p\nmid(m-n)$.

On $\bbf_q$-rational structure of nilpotent orbits

Let $G$ be a simple algebraic group and $\ggg=\Lie(G)$ over $k=\bar\bbf_q$ where $q$ is a power of the prime characteristic of $k$, and $F$ a Frobenius morphism on $G$ which can be defined naturally on $\ggg$. In this paper, we investigate the relation between $F$-stable restricted modules of $\ggg$ and closed conical subvarieties defined over $\bbf_q$ in the null cone $\cn(\ggg)$ of $\ggg$. Furthermore, we clearly investigate the $\bbf_q$-rational structure for all nilpotent orbits in $\ggg$ under the adjoint action of $G$ when the characteristic of $k$ is good for $G$ and bigger than 3. The arguments are also valid when $\ggg'$ is classical simple Lie algebra in the sense of \cite{Sel} and $G'$ is the adjoint group of $\ggg'$.

Weyl groups for non-classical restricted Lie algebras and the Chevalley restriction theorem

Let (g,[p]) be a finite-dimensional restricted Lie algebra, defined over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic p>0. The scheme of tori of maximal dimension of g gives rise to a finite group S(g) that coincides with the Weyl group of g in case g is a Lie algebra of classical type. In this paper, we compute the group S(g) for Lie algebras of Cartan type and provide applications concerning weight space decompositions, the existence of generic tori and polynomial invariants.

Filtrations in Modular Representations of Reductive Lie Algebras

Let $G$ be a connected reductive algebraic group $G$ over an algebraically closed field $k$ of prime characteristic $p$, and $\ggg=\Lie(G)$. In this paper, we study modular representations of the reductive Lie algebra $\ggg$ with $p$-character $χ$ of standard Levi-form associated with an index subset $I$ of simple roots. With aid of support variety theory we prove a theorem that a $U_χ(\ggg)$-module is projective if and only if it is a strong "tilting" module, i.e. admitting both $\cz_Q$- and $\cz^{w^I}_Q$-filtrations (to see Theorem \ref{THMFORINV}). Then by analogy of the arguments in \cite{AK} for $G_1T$-modules, we construct so-called Andersen-Kaneda filtrations associated with each projective $\ggg$-module of $p$-character $χ$, and finally obtain sum formulas from those filtrations.

Modular representations of the ortho-symplectic supergroups

A Chevalley type integral basis for the ortho-symplectic Lie superalgebra is constructed. The simple modules of the ortho-symplectic supergroup over an algebraically closed field of prime characteristic not equal to 2 are classified, where a key combinatorial ingredient comes from the Mullineux conjecture on modular representations of the symmetric group. A Steinberg tensor product theorem for the ortho-symplectic supergroup is also obtained.
