The main purpose of this article is to obtain (weighted) fractional Hardy inequalities with a remainder and fractional Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequalities valid for $1<p<2$.
We investigate the weighted fractional order Hardy inequality $$ \int_Ω\int_Ω\frac{|f(x)-f(y)|^{p}}{|x-y|^{d+sp}}\text{dist}(x,\partialΩ)^{-α}\text{dist}(y,\partialΩ)^{-β}\,dy\,dx\geq C\int_Ω\frac{|f(x)|^{p}}{\text{dist}(x,\partialΩ)^{sp+α+β}}\,dx, $$ for $Ω=\mathbb{R}^{d-1}\times(0,\infty)$, $Ω$ being a convex domain or $Ω=\mathbb{R}^d\setminus\{0\}$. Our work focuses on finding the best (i.e. sharp) constant $C=C(d,s,p,α,β)$ in all cases. We also obtain weighted version of the fractional Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequality. The proofs are based on general Hardy inequalities and the non-linear ground state representation, established by Frank and Seiringer.
We significantly expand the number of functions whose image under the fractional Laplace operator can be computed explicitly. In particular, we show that the fractional Laplace operator maps Meijer G-functions of |x|^2, or generalized hypergeometric functions of -|x|^2, multiplied by a solid harmonic polynomial, into the same class of functions. As one important application of this result, we produce a complete system of eigenfunctions of the operator (1-|x|^2)_+^{alpha/2} (-Delta)^{alpha/2} with the Dirichlet boundary conditions outside of the unit ball. The latter result will be used to estimate the eigenvalues of the fractional Laplace operator in the unit ball in a companion paper "Eigenvalues of the fractional Laplace operator in the unit ball".
We prove non-explosion results for Schrödinger perturbations of symmetric transition densities and Hardy inequalities for their quadratic forms by using explicit supermedian functions of their semigroups.
We characterize conditional Hardy spaces of the Laplacian and of the fractional Laplacian by using Hardy-Stein type identities.
We provide a Maz'ya type characterization for a fractional Hardy inequality. As an application, we show that a bounded open set $G$ admits a fractional Hardy inequality if and only if the associated fractional capacity is quasiadditive with respect to Whitney cubes of $G$ and the zero extension operator acting on $C_c(G)$ is bounded in an appropriate manner.
We prove a certain improved fractional Sobolev-Poincaré inequality on John domains; the proof is based on the equivalence of the corresponding weak and strong type inequalities. We also give necessary conditions for the validity of an improved fractional Sobolev-Poincaré inequality, in particular, we show that a domain having a finite measure and satisfying this inequality, and a `separation property', is a John domain.
The aim of this note is to show that Poincaré inequalities imply corresponding weighted versions in a quite general setting. Fractional Poincaré inequalities are considered, too. The proof is short and does not involve covering arguments.
The aim of this work is to study comparability of nonlocal Dirichlet forms. We provide sufficient conditions on the kernel for local and global comparability. As an application we prove a-priori estimates in Hölder spaces for solutions to integrodifferential equations. These solutions are defined with the help of symmetric nonlocal Dirichlet forms.
We calculate the fractional Laplacian for functions of the form $u(x)=(1-|x|^2)_+^p$ and $v(x)=x_d u(x)$. As an application, we estimate the first eigenvalues of the fractional Laplacian in a ball.
We prove a fractional version of the Hardy--Sobolev--Maz'ya inequality for arbitrary domains and $L^p$ norms with $p\geq 2$. This inequality combines the fractional Sobolev and the fractional Hardy inequality into a single inequality, while keeping the sharp constant in the Hardy inequality.
We prove fractional Hardy--Sobolev--Maz'ya inequality for balls and a half-space, partially answering the open problem posed by Frank and Seiringer [arXiv:0906.1561v1 [math.FA], 2009] We note that for half-spaces this inequality has been recently obtained by Sloane [arXiv:1004.4828v1 [math.FA], 2010].
We calculate the regional fractional Laplacian on some power function on an interval. As an application, we prove Hardy inequality with an extra term for the fractional Laplacian on the interval with the optimal constant. As a result, we obtain the fractional Hardy inequality with best constant and an extra lower-order term for general domains, following the method developed by M. Loss and C. Sloane [arXiv:0907.3054v1 [math.AP]]
